J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Tiffany Rose (in this post), as well as Irina, who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website today (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, as did the J.Crew Collection (click here).

There was also a major re-vamp of the website's design & layout. You will immediately notice the difference as several features like the log-in, and bottom navigation, have all changed location & look.
It definitely has the appearance of being more streamlined and Spring-y (if that at all makes sense). It looks nice enough, but my hope is that the update also mean the website will work more efficiently, and reflect accurate inventory.

The latest February catalog (click here to view) is now available to view. The brightness of all the colors will definitely put a smile on anyone's face. It looks like the days of over-the-top layering is gone. Instead, simple layering with bold pairings are favored.

By the way, you have to check out the Weddings & Parties section of the catalog. The images are gorgeous!!! It is a nod to what J.Crew does best (boats, water, tropical location setting, group shots). I don't know why the rest of the catalog could not have the same theme. I would have loved it!!!

As for the new arrivals... Overall I am excited from what I see. The real test comes when I see them in-person. ;)

Excited! The Perfect shirt in Liberty Art Fabrics Margaret Annie floral (item 62528; $150.00) is a throw back to J.Crew's earlier collections. The perfect shirt in a perfectly fun signature print from London's Liberty Art Fabrics! Doesn't it remind you of the Laura Shirt (Item 90108; $98.00) from a few years ago?

I am also loving the Peplum Top in Fresco Floral Sateen (Item 66184; $350.00). If it weren't for the price tag, this super feminine top would be mine. I love the sleeves, the define waist, and flared bottom. Pretty!

In Theory. The Schoolboy Blazer in Herringbone (Item 37852; $175.00) comes in fabulous colors and is a classic shape. So you would think I would love it, but I don't. I am kind of meh on it. I saw this one in-person at my store (drawn to it because of the bright hues it comes in) and the new metallic-threaded herringbone fabric looks too rumpled for my liking. It almost looked and felt like a weird linen material. It would drive me crazy trying to steam clean the wrinkles out. Pass.

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. I really like the watercolor floral no 2, as well as the western denim shirt, gingham perfect shirts. None of the pants really struck a cord for me but I plan to go in and try some things on.

  2. I always love to look at new arrivals...lots of pretty things this time around, too. :)

  3. --Merriweather jacket
    --high-waisted denim skirt
--heartthrob shirt and skirt (though the shirt being silk is a dealbreaker for me--silk is too fragile for me)

I also liked the basketweave shorts

It's interesting that there are no Hutton fit pants this time around. I loved those.

  4. The Thomas Mason gingham perfect shirt and the Canary tweed pencil skirt are gorgeous and I would love to have them, but *ouch*, the prices are eye-popping!!! For Canadians, they are charging $426 for the skirt!

    ReplyDelete
  5. I do like the Tillary bag in the navy, a navy bag is on my list this year, but it is very expensive!
I like the look of the website.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I'm impressed with the new website. It really looks so much better. I'm tempted by the heartthrob skirt and shirt, however the skirt is cotton and the top is silk. Would that make it hard to wear as a dress?

  7. The new website looks good!

I saw quite a few nice things in the new arrivals. The gingham shirts, Mona dreamweaver pumps and the Edie attaché bag in black/white are favorites of mine so far. I also loved the location shots in the wedding section of the catalog.

  8. Louise@cosmeticbee - I crushed on those pieces too, but OUCH those are steep prices to Canada!

  9. I actually HATE the look of the new website. The backlighting is way too bright, and they are doing what they do with Madewell, which is isolate the product in a pure white vacuum, which washes out the product. I think it overall looks low grade. Did you browse the new shoes? The angle they are shot at, plus the gleaming lighting, makes it really hard to understand what the shoe looks like. Oh my, big boo from me. :<

haha- my word verification is boosio! Indeed.

  10. Loving the new colors in suiting dresses and will have to try the director dress in bright dahlia, Marielle in superfine cotton byzantine blue and memo dress in royal violet. I had some suiting disappointments last year, I hope the quality has been stepped up.

The Toni oxford loafers are right up my alley while the similar pumps seem to have a bit too much going on and synthetic lining/sole whereas the flats are all leather.

I'm not sure about the fanfare print on the No.2 pencil but will probably give it a try along with the Ludlow linen suiting.

I checked out the canary tweed pencil skirt and was not impressed with the unfinished hem. This is up there with the exposed zipper as far as I'm concerned. Not a feature.

And yes, there is some crazy prices for Canadians.

  11. I've got the Tillary tote on order, so excited to get it. Dani, I'll report back when it arrives and we can decide if it's worth the money. It looks like Celine and 3.1 Phillip Lim had a love child. I think I'll use it all the time.

The gardenshade floral skirt is too short for me, money saved. The Lillian dress is too much print for me I think. I like the Merriweather jacket, but I already have a striped jacket from Anthropologie.

I think the pocket pants are amazing and I'm going to need those. They're expensive, but I learned my lesson with the mixed media skirt, which went on sale and I was never able to find it in my size. I'm not waiting for sale on things I will use a lot and love.

Some nice blouses this release too. The highwaist denim pencil skirt is great. Long enough!

  12. DesertFlower I look forward to your review of the bag!
If I bite on it I can order it to my in-laws in Florida as I'll be there for 8 days the end of February. I like the US price much better.;)
xoxo I agree the dahlia and violet shades are gorgeous!

  13. I'm liking the new postal messenger but the colors are kind of deceiving. I had to chat with customer service to figure out the colors. The rose looked better on the model but in the swatch was to pale. The butterscotch was very yellowy, but I love the design.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Oh I'm loving a lot of things here. I was able to try on a bunch in the store yesterday, so I'll be doing a string of reviews.

My faves: heart throb blouse and skirt (skirt will be online only it seems), Lillian dress (really flattering and lovely on), Tillary tote (Dani, perhaps this will be it? Desert Flower, looking forward to your review!), Boatneck pullover, pink Herringbone Blazer, Jules dress in fanfare, Edie Attache...ok, I'll stop there. :)

I don't mind the new clean look of the website, and I actually love the white background, b/c it's awesome for Polyvore! :) Now, we just need a wishlist and reviews...

    ReplyDelete
  15. I like the Celine-ish tote, hopefully it's not too heavy and stiff

    ReplyDelete
  16. The fanfare jacket is gorgeous but not suited for my lifestyle. I am strangely attracted to the cafe capris in floral sateen. The cafe capris in morse code jacquard are very well made but really unflattering on.
I couldn't resist the heart throb shirt. It has a little bit of Spandex in it so it is probably going to be less high maintenance than a regular silk shirt (still dry clean though).
Pics of many of these new arrivals on my blog.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I really love the Marla dress and all of the sorbet colours have just lifted my spirits this morning.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Desert Flower: It's exactly like the Celine bag!
But I'd prefer this one as I'm over uber expensive designer bags.

    ReplyDelete
  19. So much for swearing off JC...

    ReplyDelete
  20. On the website design, I'm with Pathos; too bright too white, horrible font, over all the whole thing looks very childish.

    ReplyDelete
  21. The Tillary Tote is more than a wee bit reminiscent of Céline's famous tote!! Oh, J.Crew. I do love the Edie Attaché, especially in the natural.

A few items caught my eye: I love the Scallop Sateen Skirt but 17.5" is way too short for me, the Director Dress, Delores Dress and Lillian in Watercolor Floral are all gorgeous. Totally worth a trip to the store to try some things on.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Accurately reflecting the inventory fail... mostly because there are tons of hidden sale items. Maybe they will do an update later today.

I like the new bright blue patent loafers, and brocade blue mona pumps. Wish the monas were a bit of a lower heel, though.

Pathos, I noticed the terrible lighting when looking at the shoes. The blue biella loafers look atrocious... all washed out and you can't even see part of the shoe.

I don't like the new website either. I hate the bright white-ness of it all!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh, and I NEED that green wool gabardine dress. That is my favorite item from this rollout. Wonder why it is $250 though?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Was really hoping to say I like the new website....but NO WAY. Awful and really stripped down; cheap looking. Such a shame. I mean even the new natasha print blouse is just sadly "there" on a white background with no model no model to show it off. Pathetic. Looks "Old" rather than "New"

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm not totally crazy about the website today. I notice that I cannot search by name - perhaps it's just the new items. ITA with Pathos - the angles of the shoes and the jewelry (like it is lying flat and you are looking straight at it (not down at it). Very weird. The font is also very light and thin - looks cheap. And I was really hoping for a wish list - oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Oh, but I forgot to mention what I really DID like on the website - the Cashnere Shop - when you click through a few pages, the sweaters are sorted by color - thought that was interesting! There is a section (not totally new) on where the cashmere comes from, and how to care for it. Even discusses pilling of sweaters.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Anyone know what they are doing sale-wise in the B&M today on the clearance? There was a crewcuts item that I had to talk over with my daughter before I purchased at final sale & I was wondering if it would be extra % off still today or new permanent markdown.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Pathos and others -

I agree that the lighting and backdrop make it hard to see items on the web site. I feel bad for anyone looking seriously at bridal!

There are some good items in this roll out: I like the fanfare print, although the styling of the fanfare jacket photo makes it hard to see the details and the fit.

The shoes this season are a pleasant surprise - there is a lot to like here.

I giggled when I saw the new straight fit jeans in the "old relic" wash - I thought we were done with the jeans-with-holes look. As I recall, the "destroyed" denim of a few years ago lingered in the sale section forever.

I look forward to the reviews of the Tillary bag - very pretty indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I am loving the Liberty of London prints this year! I ordered two because I know I will get a lot of wear out of them. I have a couple from 2009 that I wear all the time, even though they are a little too big for me now that I've lost weight. The shorts colors are great too, I'll probably pick up a few in a couple of months when it gets warm enough to start preparing for the brutal summer.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh, J.Crew, I love the Director dress in dahlia, but why must the neckline be so low? Most of us who wear suiting dresses are not trying to attract that kind of "business."

    ReplyDelete
  31. I am overwhelmed by all the prettiness on my screen. Or maybe it's the website revamp and the smaller font? Either way I am loving the new arrivals, I bet that Fanfare print will eventually come home with me in several incarnations.

    ReplyDelete
  32. So many pretty new items! Love the abstract blue items, fanfare print and will try the rugby stripe dress but am prepared to be disappointed.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the new website layout this a.m.

The zombie pose in the first few pages of the catalog is a real turn off. Thank goodness it gets better!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Didn't they have another picture of the fanfare dress to put on the Dresses page (the one at the top of the page ). The pose of the model is really awkward and she looks like she is scratching her leg.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I am loving soooo many pieces.

Tote is completely a copy of the Celine bag... but actually so is the Edie bag. Might have to try it out...

Blue Patent!! Yeah ;) Wedges, loafers.. oh my!

Ordered some pieces already.. will review on polyvore when they arrive.

I will probably blow my Spring budget.... LOVE some collection pieces!

    Website is so-so....

    ReplyDelete
  35. I totally agree that the price points are *crazy* -- $350 for the canary pencil skirt?! Jeez, I might as well go to Saks!

I do love all of the stripes and color-blocking, though. But nothing is really screaming "must have" for me that is at a decent price point...

    ReplyDelete
  36. So many lovely items this release. I love the bright colors, fun prints, and enameled jewelry. I feel J.Crew is returning to what I used to love about them.

    ReplyDelete
  37. oh my! i see so many pretty things... my cart is already full... and with a credit on my account (from returning disappointing items from the holiday sales) and a rewards card heading my way, all i need is a promo and my budget is totally blown! :)

and my 2 cents: i like the site changes but i see what people are saying about the white-out effect.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I bit on the heart throb silk boy shirt and the scalloped sateen skirt in royal. I'm loving the bright colors!

Possible contenders for my next order: Tippi sweater in citron, gingham perfect shirt in kiwi and the directors dress in bright dahlia. I also wish they would do a solid pleated bandeau for swim.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hexicon, ITA. Why is it that J. Crew's wear-to-work dresses usually are either too low-cut or too short? Such a shame because they are so pretty!

    ReplyDelete
  40. love the colors. prices will prevent me from buying. not really a fan of the new web look, it's like they are trying to emulate net-a-porter or something.

    ReplyDelete
  41. *** HUGE UPDATE *** to the sale section just now!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Loving the colors. Like the Edie bag, gingham perfect shirt, crinkle chiffon skirt... The pricing is not affordable for me yet. Thanks to a poster awhile back ( maybe Gigi? I am sorry, can't recall) I put my favs into Seesthesale dot com and let my impulse to buy full price wear off.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ok, we need to be a united front here and not allow each other to spend $350 on a little peplum blouse. Or maybe we should start an Occupy Jcrew and demand fair prices and better quality? "We work hard for the money, so you better treat us right!"

    ReplyDelete
  44. Loving the Heart Throb Jardin skirt!!!! From the vibe on this thread for that print and the fact that it's catalog/online only, I wouldn't be surprised if it sold out soon.

I'm glad they updated the look of the website, but my goodness...if you were going to update it at all, why not add the things they KNOW we want, like a wishlist and/or zoom feature?!

    ReplyDelete
  45. pathos - I am begging no one to buy it so it can go and sale and we can all buy it! I love it!

on side note - I just nabbed the perfect gingham shirt in neon yellow as a pop-back! Shipping was waived since I already met the minimum once today. I've been scouring the earth for this shirt - so excited!

    ReplyDelete
  46. The Edie attache in leopard print calf hair, which I've been looking forward to for SO long, is $698. It'll come out to almost eight hundred bucks once taxes and shipping are factored in. I guess I'll have to make do with one of the other colors!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Why is the Talitha blouse showing up in the New Arrivals section. It's not new. Also, the thumnail for the "Geode" necklace doesn't match what shows up when you click it. Other than the shoes and the Chambray Schoolboy jacket I'm not that excited.

    ReplyDelete
  48. There's a lovely navy polka dot shirt that doesn't appear to be online but is layered in several of the sweater shots. I want it!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Agree, so many pretty things! But then my excitement faded when 1) all I could envision were pilly sweaters, hole-y knits, and crooked seams and 2) saw the outrageous prices on everything. Hoping to hear some positive reviews on quality here!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Love the color palette and yes, the site redesign /font change was instantly noticeable. Interesting!

The models and photos look even more airbrushed now than they ever did. Plastic, almost. Odd.

Still, though, anytime you click from a catalog page through to an item descriptions, everything defaults to being in a Men's category header. Why can't they fix that?

And my oh my, but the Women's sale section has nearly triped in capacity since last night's promo ended. Ugh.

I want that silk boy shirt in the heart print in a very irrational way, but ain't no way I'm paying $135 for it. WTH? That's crazy.

The Natasha top in the watercolor floral is also very pretty, and if it comes down to where the Wildcat version did, I'll definitely buy one.

Love, love, love the new striped blouson dress but not at FP. Will wait out a sale price.

Spring Tippis? Maybe. The model wearing it is so incredibly thin that I can't picture what this would look like on someone my size.

Schoolboy blazer in herringbone ... maybe in the red color, but no thanks to all the rest.

Tees for $50 and $65? Yeeeeeeeouch. No thanks at those prices.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Laura: I want that shirt too! Why must they tease us?! :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Pathos, Re Occupy...Envisioning stylish flash mobs in stores choreographed to Donna Summer.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Love the Marina necklace, despite the resin chain :-)

Does anyone know when the rewards cards are due to arrive?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Wow, Jcrew provides " LIVE CHAT " on their web site, but it seems not open yet....Way to go, Jcrew!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Okay, this made my morning!
HUGE fan of the cashmere shop.
    Love the wedding/swim photos.
I do like the overall feel of the website.
LOVING: Collection Canary Tweed Jacket but not sure if it's worth 450.00
    LOVING: Jacquard Keyhole Blouse (148.00)
LOVING: Madelene Wool Dress (wool???) in green (250.00)
LOVING: the citron colors with navy, pink and green. I want the ballet with big bows. The tiered ruffle is perfect for summer (68) and I have to have the NATASHA watercolor blouse (sleeveless). I wonder what will end up in my shopping bag by the end of the day????? I'm good on skirts...no more for me.
WAITING FOR THE BEAUTIFUL CITRON CAPRI (not wool) to come out --- if ever.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Catherine K- you are so on my wavelength. It can be done.

and swoon! page 83 of the catalogue. So cute, I'm sticking that page in the corner of my bathroom mirror. dreamy sweet :>

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yup, yup! I just ordered the neon yellow bucket bag...I can't wait to see it in person!

    http://thechicaddict.blogspot.com

    ReplyDelete
  58. Lots of pretty things there. LOVE the Edie attache in red.

Not a fan of the fanfare print.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Oh I am thrilled! The printed Fanfare short (#69899)has a 5" inseam! You don't know how many times I would have loved to buy the beautiful printed shorts J Crew has, but couldn't because of the super short 3" inseam (I gave up shortie shorts after I had a kid and hit 30) Hoory for a more modest inseam on your printed shorts J Crew!

  60. Are the color thumbnails not working for anyone else in Firefox? When I click on a different color the product image no longer changes.

    ReplyDelete
  61. OT: I have a quick question. I normally wear a 6 in J.Crew shirts but get an 8 in outerwear in order to put sweaters and whatnot underneath. I want to order one of their suiting jackets...do I stay true to my shirt size or go up a size like a do in outerwear? TIA for the help.

    ReplyDelete
  62. This comment has been removed by the author.

  63. Yayayay for a great rollout. I love the color combos - so springy and wearable.

I'm loving the Natasha in watercolor floral, dotted moon bracelet, baby Brampton in vibrant coral, and schoolboy chambray blazer. I'm also loving the bubble necklace in sweet papaya even though it's not new to this rollout. But the prices??? Why?!?!

Hoping for a % off promo soon otherwise it's going to be hard to choose which to spend my rewards card on :(

    ReplyDelete
  64. Shanni, stick with your shirt size for the suiting jackets. I too wear a 6 in shirts (usually) and all of my suiting jackets of various styles are a 6, while I have many coats in size 8 (and even one in a 10!).

    ReplyDelete
  65. I tried a few of the new items the other day-
Lillian dress is about 58% wool and 42% silk I wanted to love it but it didn't look good on me. I prefer the skirt in this print and although I like it, I don't love it. The fanfare dress is 100% rayon nice and soft but the print overwhelmed me.

The schoolboy blazers are muted IRL and slightly wrinkled. I prefer my Zara blazers from last year!

The fanfare stuff is cute if that's your style (but I will pass). It has a Golden Girl vibe to it.

I like the heartthrob blouse but the price :(

The cafe capri's increased by $10!!!! $89.50 for cotton pants-no

Overall, I'm coming off the crewlade especially with the price increases and subpar quality.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I added a counter to my blog to see how long it will take until J Crew adds a wishlist feature. That was 463 days ago. The new website looks like the Factory site. Too stripped down and even less product info, visually, as some items or parts of them (cashmere colorblock sweater blend into the background. And no save for later or wishlist. Boo hoo to the boo!

@ pathos - I'll be there at OJC if it's a flash mob like Catherine K suggests. We do the Little Edie goes to camp look w/our pieces that became unstitched within a wear or two or tattered in the wash. Then segue into hard-for-the-money-disco w/all the sequins we own. I'm feeling Deney Terrio/Dance Fever for this. He still looks good and would probably be up for hosting/announcing.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I loved the fan fare jacket in store, nicely made and good quality. Too bad the online shot is awful. The new attache bag is just what I've been looking for, however beware, the catalog says it zips on top, but it does not! I love the colors in this collection, pinks and blues though yellow is not for me. Has anyone seen the Barton Jersey pants?
The new site design is so bright white it is giving me a headache.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Oh goodness...hard to get back to work looking at the new spring line. As many of you mentioned, it just makes you happy! This is the first catalog in a long time where there's actually LOTS of items that I want.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Picked up the new Western denim shirt today, when I looked at the px my eyes popped out! Just had to ask the salegirl what about THIS denim shirt makes it worth $25 more than than I have ever spent on a denim shirt at J Crew before, You should have seen the look on that poor befuddled girl's face. (I hate myself for buying it anyway)

    ReplyDelete
  70. Gigi- Little Edie with the tattered clothing could also segue into that part in thriller where they all turn into zombies with ripped up clothes. -HAHA!

    ReplyDelete
  71. I have to confess that I have not been too upset by JC's prices -- maybe I'm just conditioned to the higher Canadian price point on clothing, but either way I haven't felt most items I liked were overpriced.

But today I am shocked. $806 for the leopard Edie bag? $178 for a Liberty print shirt? $428 for a mostly-synthetic tweed skirt? $574 for a trench coat? Come ON! And can someone please explain the $243 price difference between the Nili Lotan Chambray Beach tunic and JC's Chambray Bayou tunic?

I shake my head...clearly I should say Screw the Crew and start shopping on 5th Ave if I can afford those prices.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Occupy Jcrew! LOL!

I love the Evie Oxford heels, the purple super 120's skirt, the Moto trench - does anyone know if it is lined?, the Madelene dress instantly caught my eye, the crinkle silk skirt. I am excited but these prices are crazy.

I like the new website but BOOOO to overexposing all the pictures and no wishlist.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I agree Clicquot -- as most of you know, I'm a sale-price-only shopper, but the prices in this rollout floored me even more than they normally do. Not sure if the general economic environment is what makes it pinch more or what, but eeeek. And our Canadian friends, zoinks! Stratospheric doesn't even begin to describe it.

    ReplyDelete
  74. That was my first thought clicking through the new arrivials - the prices! YIKES. I think they are starting so high because their clothes jump straight to final sale within weeks, then add a promo - THEN they are close to the price they should be. My verification word was phissel - that's how I feel about JC right about now. No thanks. Cute - but not at those prices.

    ReplyDelete
  75. hey all - I was looking at something on final sale yesterday that completely disappeared. I'm pretty sure they didn't totally sell out (it was the billie short boots), so what gives? will it come back or no?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Re:Occupy. Ok, I can't resist...Little Edie would look great in a Jackie cardi with broken buttons styled as a Collection headscarf..

    ReplyDelete
  77. I have my eye on the polka dot shorts and the new gingham shirts. Crossing my fingers for a yellow patent Mona or Martina.

    ReplyDelete
  78. So many cute items this time. I love the heart throb shirt. Subtle in a way but very cute. Also like the polka dot henley tee. I have a few other henley and they fit good. Hope the polka dot will fit the same. Wondering if they will have any promo next week. Wishful thinking.

  79. If I am going to pay $150-ish for a cotton button down shirt, it's going to be Steven Alan and it's going to be made in the USA.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Cliquot, I asked myself a similar question this morning. If the gingham Mason shirts are twice the price of the other gingham shirts, does that mean I should expect the non-Mason ones to be terrible? I am still angry over my suckered gingham shirts from last summer that pilled. Pilling on woven garment? Really...

I purchased the heartthrob shirt earlier in the week. I am not sure if I am keeping it, but it is pretty. I do think it is a little short and overpriced but I will be surprised if this makes it to markdown.

I may order a couple of shirts to see and try in person, but I have been so underwhelmed with the JC items I have seen IRL lately, that I have low expectations.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Alexis, I like the idea of the new schoolboy blazer but the wrinkles definitely put it into "meh" territory. Your comments about how it looks IRL are helpful. BTW, "In Theory" is a very cute heading for your comments on that piece. ;^)

kitsmommy, you raise a good point. I often find that what you see online or in the catalog is nowhere near as nice IRL. It can be so frustrating when it is buy/try/exchange/return without a B&M in sight. J.Crew prices have increased but so has the return shipping!

    ReplyDelete
  82. I have pictures of some new arrivals including some not yet online/in stores.

    Check it out here.

    ReplyDelete
  83. ajc thanks so much for the great pictures!

  84. So great hearing everyones picks & pans of the latest rollout.

I have to agree about the website's new layout- I like it but I don't. (Weird, right?) Maybe I just need to get use to it?

xoxo: Glad that my mini-review on the new schoolboy blazer was helpful. :) Such pretty colors- but the wrinkles/rumpled effect is not for me.

  85. Hooray for a great rollout! The colors/prints are lovely and the styles wearable! There are shoes, jewelry and bags that have caught my fancy for the first time in several rollouts.

I've been burned on quality so often lately that I am anxious to see it all in person. The prices do seem higher but I wonder if some of the best items will make it to markdowns.

I am meh on the website redesign. Clean and fresh is good for spring, but the garish white feels a little generic to me.

  86. The schoolboy blazer is more than a little bit wrinkled, IMO. I was in the store and tried it on. It's a rumpled mess! and the material was a bit shiny-ish. Total pass for me. The color was pretty though. i think the prices are ridick! I do like the way the hearthrob shirt and skirt are paired, but it's not realistic to my lifestyle as a sahm who does the tiniest bit of part-time work. Just not worth it. But I love the pattern.

    1. They are available in Paramus. Usually they should be in other stores in 2-4 weeks.

  90. AJC, thanks for posting all those photos. I love the color of that dress. It looks more turquoise than green on my monitor.

    1. It is similar to viridian green, green but with blue undertones.

  91. Glad we all like different things. I looked at the heartthrob print everyone is talking about...no thanks unless I was in my late teens/early 20's. Esp. when it is made in a swimsuit for little girls:) The blouse is pretty but I doubt the quality is there for the price$

I am hoping to hear great reviews of the quslity of this rollout. Otherwise, the prices are crazy high for the recent decline in quality.

  92. Love that J Crew is offering rash guards and board shorts for women-- pretty grown-up designs AND affordable. I've been admiring the designs from Pret-A-Surf for a while now, but don't want to spend $200 for an item that might get torn apart on the reef.

Overall, I'm just happy there are new warm weather styles. I don't get to buy much from August to January.

  93. ITA with Pathos about the website, the overly white background is making it very difficult to see the product as is the strange product angles. Thank goodness the only things I really LOVE are WAY too expensive !!! My bank account needs a break! I found myself wishing many items were in a different color or different fabric than what was offered. Notice the prices on the fabric shoes ! Outrageous ! My word veri is "mantent". I better just give up shopping and go camping with my man !

  94. forgot to mention that I had thought the Rugby stripe dress looked so cute on the website, but I saw it in the store and thought it looked flimsy and cheap. That's one item off my list.

  97. Hi Ladies! Did anyone else receive their Spring Rewards today? I was really surprised to find mine waiting for me this afternoon. It arrived with an invitation much like the email offering me "first access to pre-order" the new spring/summer collection pieces. It included 26 photos of collection looks and a short message from Jenna and a contact phone number. Attached was my spring rewards card. I'm looking forward to using it on some of the new arrivals!!

  100. I saw a few new things in the store today. The Schoolboy Blazer was very cute. Definitely rumpled looking, but that seems like a nice way to keep something so structured with a casual feeling. And the colors were so pretty. My only complaint was that it felt super tight in the upper arm area.

Everything in the watercolor floral pattern looks beautiful, and I can't wait (for sale/promo) to add something in that print to my closet.

Also, as someone who just doesn't wear shorts with a 3inch inseam, I'm very excited to see that some of the patterns come in a 5inch inseam, and there are some great new colors in even the 7inch inseam.

I bit on the new Sperry's in neon azalea. I'm so incredibly in love, that if those ever end up on sale, multiple colors will end up coming home with me.

As for the new website, I don't mind the super white background on some of the (darker) items, but has anyone tried looking at bridal? It pretty much looks like a floating head and unattached arms in a sea of white. I can't figure out where the dress ends and the backdrop begins!

  101. I was in my B&M last night and saw a really cute bag. It looks like the Tillary bucket bag but it was off-white canvas, with navy and green. Don't see it on the website at all. I am heading back on Saturday to have a more in depth at some of new items since I did not have much time. The blue/white cafe capris were definately more white than blue IRL than what is on the website.

  102. Very pleased to see the happy, bright colours! But the prices, OUCH! Thankfully, by the time it's warm enough to wear these styles, I should be able to pick up my "likes" on promo or on sale. And boo about the website redesign... no wishlist, no "quick view", no colour swatches on thumbnail page...boohoo. OK, off to polyvore my picks ;)

  103. Madelene dress in festival green...I may have squealed...$250 US? I don't even want to think about what the ridiculous Canadian price is!

  104. FYI, the Poppy King lipstick is back.

Verif word: radpilit as in rad, pile it on? *lol*

  105. Wow, the wedding site looks horrible! The white backgrounds are just horrible. Reminds me of Madewell where everything is backlit and looks cheap and then and see through. Total step backwards in website design.

  106. Can anyone explain the difference between a shirt and a top? I was looking around the website and see that these categories are listed, but the items in each are the same. The only difference I see is that the subcategories (blouses, camis, etc.)are arranged differently. Maybe this has always been there and I'm just noticing???

  107. I'm very sad all the pencil skirts are an inch shorter this Spring!

Not loving anything, but I'm not much of a Spring colors gal.

  108. Shekster,

I have 3 pair of J.Crew chinos from several years ago with the adjustable tabs. They look very nice and I really like the feature.

  109. Reese - have you received your Sperry's yet, and if so how does the sizing run? I think they look adorable.

  110. Cate, I posted pictures of some new longer pencils coming up soon.
Check my Flicker link in my earlier post above.

  111. Also, is it completely unreasonable to want the Mona's in borcade blue??

    ReplyDelete
  112. Vida --

I usually take a size 8.5 in most shoes, and I size down to an 8 in these. I have a few other pairs of Sperry's (both from JCrew collaborations and from Sperry themselves) and these fit exactly the same. Also, my experience with Sperry's is that the do tend to stretch a little with wear.

My only complaint is that the "leather lining" does not actually extend the entire length of the insole in these shoes. It is leather through the heel portion of the insole, and cloth in the front toebed. But that said, I haven't been able to feel it, and haven't had any problems with it.

  114. Merino v-neck sweater already sold out! I am cursing the J Crew gods for making me love them so and myself for not getting one in every color...perfect item.

  115. Ok, I think I was wrong about the heart throb shirt being navy. My ps and I were so sure of it, but it's looking black at home. However, it looks fine with my dark navy skirts. Can anyone else weigh in? Maybe I'm color blind!

  116. Oh,also I posted pics of the lillian and Jules fanfare dresses and pink herringbone blazer!

  117. shopwithm, it looks definitively black to me. The color code doesn't help this time (RED).

  119. Something interesting happened to me with the Herringbone Schoolboy Blazer; I ordered the Aged Driftwood on a 'popback' as a final sale item in October--it was waitlisted. No worries, I thought, as it was more of a Spring item, anyway. Plus, it was $35 (pre tax/ship), so a steal. I got a couple e-mails saying the date was being pushed back, with the last one stating it might be delivered as late as 4/12, and that they would cancel it if it went that late. Lo and behold, it shipped mid-January, and I checked the tag--it is the Spring '12 version! I guess sometimes JC's screwy inventory system can work in our favor. Would love stying ideas for this!

  120. (Original)Jenny, thanks for the info on the pant tabs. I have never seen this on adult clothes but it sounds like it might be useful and/or stylish. Maybe I should reserve judgment until I see them irl. :)

  121. Oh, about the heart throb print. I bought the umbrella last week in this print because it just rains sooo often in Vegas. LOL. Anyway, I couldn't tell if the background was black or blue either. I think it is a very very dark navy blue, because when I hold it to my black laptop it does not look black. I LOVE the umbrella.
