JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

  1. I posted a couple of styling ideas and pictures of the Colorblocked Stripe long sleeve stripe tee (in the blue version) here.

  2. I need styling ideas for the Saturday Pant I just purchased in Heather Midnight. Mostly wearing-in-public styling ideas. I know there are tons of cozy-chic possibilities out there. The only thing I've come up with is a blazer+scarf combo.

    Any tips would be appreciated!

  3. I posted an outfit with the J Crew Schoolboy Blazer on my blog here and another outfit using the J Crew Bonnie Blouse here

    I hope it is helpful!

  4. Any ideas for wearing the Bonnie dress in floral taffeta and toile jacquard this time of year? I'm pretty much always cold.

  6. How would you style the popsicle pink (it's neon!) silk henley for winter?

  7. I'm in love with the shape of the Brompton Mini Hobo which I saw in store this past weekend. I have the Marlow Hobo in black, so I was thinking about getting this one in Henna. Would it be a faux pas to wear with my black coat or could I pull it off? Thanks ;)

  8. sugarmagnolia, henna is a basic colour and you could probably wear this bag with anything in your closet.

  9. @ Lisa: Although I mostly wear my Saturday pants as "Hooray, I'm done with work and will now put on some comfy pants!" pants, I have worn them out of the house in the following ways: Midnight Blue pants, Navy thermal henley, Tretorns; Black pants, selvedge chambray button-down, Chuck Taylors; Gray pants, gray favorite tank, Fiesta purple Tippi sweater, denim jacket, Tretorns. HTH!

@ sugarmagnolia: Go for it! I don't think that you'll get any side-eye from the Black/Brown police ;) I think that you can get away with almost any color bag with a black coat...unless it's a straw or raffia bag, but that's more a question of seasonal appropriateness.

  10. Does anyone have styling ideas for the Cashmere Rugby Stripe turtleneck, the pine bough hyacinth color? Jeans would be ideal; however, I have the hardest time finding proper fitting jeans (any suggestions about great jeans would be amazing too!).

    Thanks!!!

  11. Any styling ideas for the purple Jardin skirt - without looking too boho? I bought it because I loved the color without regards to what I would do with it. I sized down so it sits higher on my waist. I especially need ideas for shoes!

  12. I have the most embarrassing "please style me" request, because it should be so simple. I have the Waverly chinos in dark oak (kind of a sage green) and I want to know if you wonderful folk have any ideas for dressing them up for a Friday at work, instead of the weekend-vibe that is so obvious.
