J.Crew's Going Going Gown Event {it's back!}

"Thanks!" to Rosie, as well as Irina, who let us know about J.Crew's latest promotion.

J.Crew is running an amazing Bridal Gown sale online (click here to shop online). They are offering gowns up to 60% off!!! The only thing is that all sales are final. This sale ends January 19th.

If you are considering J.Crew for your wedding, this might be the time to buy. Especially if you already have tried on some of the items in person at a store before buying.

Will you check out J.Crew's bridal selection? Are you interested in any items? If so, please share! :)

  1. Wooooot I just bought a dress! Thanks for posting Alexis, I always get the e-mails late in the afternoon!

  2. Oh, and re: the final sale thing... with 30% off these pretty decent prices, if a dress doesn't work out, you could probably recoup most if not all your cost by selling the dress on a wedding website or even eBay. At least that is what I am hoping for because I ordered a dress I've never seen or tried on before. For 70% off, I am willing to take a gamble...

  3. Does anyone know how the selection in stores (bridal in nyc) varies from what is online? I am not getting married for over a year, but this could be a great deal! Just wondering if I should go to store.

  5. Actually I bought a dress from last year's gown event, but it was still offered throughout the year and even now at full price. I don't know if that was the case for all the sale dresses... I'm not sure how they choose which styles to offer in the sale. FYI if you do go to the store, they require you to book an appointment first if you want to try on dresses. Since you'd have to call anyway, you can ask if they have specific styles in store.

  6. I noticed last year that it wasn't really a "clearance" event... for example the silk dupioni rosette gown was in the sale last year, I think. And somehow it's still around. I'd love that in pink, but alas... it's gone in my size.

The dress I bought today was already on sale but was marked several hundred less today. I nearly jumped for joy!

Thrilled to be able to get a high quality, gorgeous, all silk dress for the price.

  7. Thanks for the info, ladies! I deleted my perhaps misleading response to @Audrey. I hesitated to buy and missed my true size, so hoping one size up fits!

  8. Rosie, do you mind sharing which gown you got? I love to hear about others and their J.Crew wedding gowns.

The beauty of this sale is that the prices are so good, if you have to alter, it won't be too painful costwise! I hope your dress works out :)

  9. @Rosie: You can probably save the alteration scraps to make something with it! Like silk flowers on a headband or sash.

Another FYI. Last year they didn't ship the sale dresses in the special acid-free box. However, the description for my dress specifically mentioned the box, so when I called, they were quite good about honoring the description and sent me a box afterwards. The box in itself was wonderfully constructed, so try to get one if you can.

  10. Hwin, I was afraid of the no-box thing. How lame of them not to include the box when it clearly states it is included. It is a nearly $2000 dress... regardless of what I paid, I'd like to be able to preserve it in a nice box per the description. Crossing my fingers that one will be included but if it isn't, I will call and ask like you did. Thank you for the info!

  11. Congrats to everyone who got a dress!! I bought mine online when they first started offering them, without trying it on, and it fit perfectly just like JCrew usually does. What a great bargain on some of those dresses too! Happy weddings!

  12. Glad others find this exciting. I find it very confusing/disturbing/whatever.Hell would have to freeze over before I bought my wedding dress on final sale. Crazy IMO.

  13. @JCrewJD -- oh, this is embarrassing... but I currently have the Sophia and the Cecelia and now I want to try the Sabine. I would have sprung for the Bow Monde but it didn't come in my size.

    What did you get?

  15. It shipped, and is almost 20 pounds, so I hope that means they included the box!

  16. @JCrewJD -- the shipment weight is way off. Mine said 15 lbs in the UPS information but when it arrived it was very light, just 5 lbs.

  17. Same here... it was a gigantic, light box!

  18. My dress was too big. :(

Interestingly, it wasn't marked "final sale" on the packing slip.

  19. Rosie, that's too bad! You should try returning it. Most SA's are pretty clueless and won't know the dresses were supposed to be final sale.

I haven't tried mine on yet... it looks big but I do love it! That's what alterations are for, I guess!

  20. So did they not ship you the acid-free box and tissue paper? It's a fairly heavy and large box. Hope they did!

  21. They did not ship the box. Grrrr. I contacted cs and asked for one, however, and they promptly sent it to me (well, they said they did, I don't have it yet). I guess the people in the warehouse aren't aware that they are supposed to ship the box with the dress... duh!
