There is also a small update to the Final Sale section this morning. With over 770+ items for Women and 200+ items for Men. (I was hoping there would be more merchandise to choose from.)
Will you be checking out J.Crew? Are there any items you are interested in getting? If so, please share. :)
now if they offered free shipping on top of it...
ReplyDeletenot much sale stuff left in the Philly store, but I won't pay the $8.95 shipping
I would not order items I have never seen IRL for final sale, even at 30% off. Find it strange that it would be 40% off in store where you CAN try it on first. Final Sale seems so backward. Won't be biting today.
ReplyDeletePrices haven't been marked down at all. Nothing calling out to me. Not going to do FS unless it's love and I've tried it on before and that's not the case at the moment.
ReplyDeleteWhy wouldn't the match the in-store 40% off? And add in free shipping (even if it's just for sale items)? They are never going to get rid of these things.

ReplyDeleteLooks like more items in sale section now. Wish they had 30% off everything like before Christmas...
ReplyDeleteThere was a small update this morning but it seems like every single new item added has a "sold out" message when you click on the image. Not that I should be looking...!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteSaw several additions that I was interested in (Heart Me Sweater, Scoopneck Blouse in Wildcat) but then I got the dreaded 'this item has been so popular, it has sold out' message. Grr.
ReplyDeleteCarolyn from Vancouver here...
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that any of us who are no where near a B&M are looking because at least its something but...
- its Jan. and spring items in all other stores are rolling out... hard to think about buying anymore sweaters
-I feel like Jcrew must think I am very ignorant about prices or they just don't care
-customers who have no choice but to shop on-line get a bum deal and final sale well this would turn away any savy shoppermost of all on-line ones. I am probably bitter because this is my annual ban on shopping month because if its still around in Feb it wasn't worth buying .
When J crew opens here in Vancouver( two stores) it will be interesting to see how it is received. Thanks for listening. Happy new year. Carolyn from Vancouver
30%? Still not convinced. Why can't they just move up a notch and match the in-store sales? The store in Toronto, ON, Canada is 50% off clearance items. If I haven't visited the store earlier, I would have grabbed a few things online. But now knowing it's much cheaper in stores, I wouldn't get anything online with this promo.
ReplyDeleteNothing for me, esp FS and without free shipping. SOOO much of the sale inventory is returns at this point(read: high risk of damage and previous wear). I've been burned before and I'm not tempted.
ReplyDeleteEverything that I want my PS's have tracked down for me... which means I have gotten 40% and free shipping. No thank you to 30% plus an $8.95 shipping fee. There are a few things I plan to have him track down that I have alaready tried on and know I want
ReplyDeleteI did get some crewcuts. My kids love the soft tees and fun graphics, and I love the leggings for my daughter. I also like the crewcut chinos for my son who wears uniforms for school -- they are easier for kids to button than Gap and Land's End chinos. I feel pretty safe ordering crewcuts final sale...
ReplyDeleteLooked like lots of items available but 7 out of 8 items that I clicked on where already sold out...maybe check my B&M and see if there is anything decent there.
ReplyDeleteDitto on the crewcuts--I went to the store over the weekend and the crewcuts sale section was almost nonexistent, but the online selection is much better. I stocked up on basics (tees, leggings) for my girls to wear both now and next year. All the crewcuts is free shipping (at least, all my items were), which helps.

ReplyDeleteI see from the emails that J.Crew is processing my boatload of returns. There should be a small update tomorrow hehe.
ReplyDeleteIt's almost like that sale section update was a fake-out: almost everything was sold out or not actually on sale when I clicked on it! No thank you.
ReplyDeleteI wholeheartedly agree with M...I usually avoid final sale at all costs but was thinking about ordering a factory tee this morning...changed my mind when I realized the shipping would be 1/3 of the total cost. Come on JCrew...give us at least a little bit of incentive to shop your awful final sale. Crazy that those of us who are forced to shop online aren't given 40% or free shipping.
ReplyDeleteI had some items in my cart but when I went to checkout and saw all those red final sale I changed my mind.
ReplyDeleteThey should definitively lower the shipping if they want to get rid off this stuff. And they should offer free shipping every day for factory like they do for crewcuts (I would have ordered some factory if they offered free shipping)
No, because paying for shipping makes me very angry. Did it last week and still made about it, lol.
ReplyDeleteblah. My PS located the 1 item I've been looking for so I'll pass. Will scout out my local b&m sale section tomorrow but I highly doubt they have anything.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried the Snowbound Puffer? I've had my eye on it forever, but the only store near me never had them and I hate buying final sale without knowing how it fits.
ReplyDeleteIf they really want to get rid of merchandise, a 40 or 50 % off plus free shipping would do it. Especially if everything is final sale.
And to be honest, I barely spent anything at J.Crew this season. Anthropologie got A LOT of my business (including Christmas gifts for family and friends), and I've even gone back to the GAP. My local J.Crew is so tiny that there's hardly a point in visiting, and I'm just tired of the online inconsistencies, poor qualities, etc. I never thought I'd say this, but I'm kind of over you, J.Crew.
Hi, for those who want a "heart me" sweater, I made one myself over the weekend. Hope this gives you some inspiration. :)
ReplyDeletehttp://way-we-were.blogspot.com/
Prices aren't low enough for me to purchase final sale. Of course on top of that I'm not willing to pay shipping and I can't make my self get it up the $175 mark just for free shipping.
ReplyDeleteI am sure that better % off is on it way so I will wait.
As for quality, yes, some items are lacking from prior years but as I ventured out to other retailers this season I realized there is a lot worse out there and I'm pretty happy with Jcrew overall. I'm convinced any sweater that is around $50 (I only buy jcrew sale) is going to pill. Any one found otherwise? I'm just curious to see if there are other retailers that I'm missing.
MegCrew,
ReplyDeleteWhile I have not bought ANY J.CRew sweaters this season--a first since 2001--I did buy one cashmere from Boden. Zero pills so far...but it was a $91 sweater....I have a closet full of sweaters that were under $50 and no pills. I just refuse to buy a sweater that pills no matter what the price point! Last season I got Ann Taylor cashmere sweaters for $21 final sale and no pills.
(original) Genny,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your thoughts.
It sounds like you are finding great deals and quality.
I haven't tried Boden before...seems like they are always a little pricier since I am a sale shopper. Maybe I just don't frequent them enough and miss the good sales? I'll have to look more.
Ann Taylor seems to be hit and miss for me. Lots of polyester, nylon and rayon to be found but always worth a look.
Thanks again. I'm always up for looking at other retailers. So far banana, polo, talbots, tommy and so on haven't fared better. I just keep coming back for the fit, colors, and sale prices of Jcrew.
MegCrew,
ReplyDeleteYes, I am a sales shopper too. The Boden sweater was originally around $228. They are the only place I have found recently where the quality is still good. I have some nice Talbots items from 2010 but you are right that 2011 was not the best for Talbots. I bought some cotton jackets/blazers and silk items from them only.
I really used to LOVE J.Crew and their sweaters/cardigans but not anymore due to quality issues.
I hope we can both find good J.Crew items in 2012 (esp. next winter) but I am not going to hold my breath!
MegCrew, I personally am not a quality freak and j.crew sweaters are overall ok for me since I normally buy them on sale. I found their "cambridge" cable sweaters and merino turtleneck are pretty decent and have not pilled on me yet. I don't like Ann Taylor. For some unspeakable reason, their fit just doesn't ring a bell to me. I have heard that vince has some good quality cashmere but you really have to shop around to find deal as their full price can be pretty steep. I sometimes find random nice sweaters of RL, at local off price stores, too. I shop at thrift shops often as well. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteGenny, I just replied to Meg on the subject (and thank you for stopping by my blog). I love J.crew jackie cardigans and shells. To me the quality in these has not significantly changed throughout the years.
ReplyDeleteO.K. I'll admit to making a purchase. I picked up a couple of Kendor cardigans at just under $21 each (originally $138). At that price I can wear them around the house like bathrobe if the fit and/or quality doesn't suit!
ReplyDeleteAW JC Ob,
ReplyDeleteI went into my b&m yesterday evening, and thanks to the other JCAs I knew that the scoopneck blouse in wildcat was on sale. The SA did a WWFI and I got an email this morning saying that it shipped. I also go the 15% off for teachers. If this blouse is a must have, you may still have a chance of getting it. Good luck.
Lulu
I have found the jackie cardigans not to be as well made recently. lots of posts on the blog of people saying they were not wearing well.I own ones I bought in 2004, 5, and 6. The ones I have seen recently do not compare in quality unfortunately. My ann taylor sweaters fit me great at 5 foot 10 and have extra special chiffon finished edge detail ing on them.
ReplyDeleteare the stores still having 40% off?
ReplyDeleteNothing in the sale section interests me. I agree with Carolyn from Vancouver...can't think about buying any more sweaters when the spring items are coming out. But, I must admit, I always have room for more cashmere, no matter what time of year it is. I own way too many J. Crew cashmere sweaters to count and the only ones that I had trouble with were 2010. All of the other years including 2011 have been wonderful. They wear very well and no pills. I wash mine by hand with the cashmere wash and they come out so soft and no shrinking. I highly recommend the product.
ReplyDeleteStill final sale? Hmmm, let's see. Waste money on items that very well may not work, or waste 30% less money on items that very well may not work. I think I'll pass :)
ReplyDeleteOriginal Germany and the way we were- thanks your you thoughts!
ReplyDeleteI'll continue my search but always hope Jcrew pulls through for me!
BJD that is great to know the j crew cashmere wash works well. I have some specialty cashmere wash that I got in europe when living there and I am almost out
ReplyDeleteMegcrew, you don't happen to be talking about ann taylor loft versus ann taylor? I have not bought either 1 this year but it always seems to me that ann taylor does not carry the synthetic material that loft does
ReplyDeleteOriginal genny,
ReplyDeleteI was referring to Ann Taylor. It seems that a majority of their sweaters are synthetic... I just double checked. Sigh
I ended up with the tartan shirt for $33 and a couple of Blythe shirt dresses but I don't think I received the correct pricing on those. I'm gping to call my PS tomorrow
ReplyDeleteSubscribing. :)
ReplyDeleteI stopped by the Tysons Corner store last evening to pick up my $18 liquid silk skirt in bright dahlia. I had no idea it was that cheap until I read about it here. Thanks for the tip! While I was there I also picked up the MacAlister wedge boots in nut for under 100 bucks and the scoopneck blouse in wildcat. The sale section had a ton of sad looking sweaters, several coats (though none of them were marked with the sale prices), and a table of shoes. They also had several liquid silk skirts left in navy and bright dahlia in a range of sizes (a lot of 4s). All sale items were an additional 40% off. One of the SAs told me that they will not be getting new merchandise for another two weeks so it seems kind of ridiculous that they are not having a better sale. Granted 40% off is great at J. Crew but given the promotions that other stores are running this is nothing exceptional.
ReplyDeleteBoo-JCrew ebates is at 1.5% until November 2012.
ReplyDeletepathos: That's a stupid amount for ebates. How do you know it will be that way until November? I ordered a few days ago and it was still 4%.
ReplyDeleteSarah
ReplyDeleteAre the MacAlister boots the ones with fur in them or without?
Has anyone seen any mona pumps on sale in patent or suede?
ReplyDeleteMini
ReplyDeleteThe MacAlister boots they had are lined with shearling. They had a few pairs of the Mona glitter pumps.
Agree with Audreys. I just ordered some crewcuts and rarely worry about FS with that. They do have the best graphics on their tees (a dino stomping through NYC!? awesome!) and the leggings are super duper soft as my boys used them for their superhero costumes and want more ;)
ReplyDeleteI hate to encourage FS shopping, but for those of you bummed by the drop in ebates cashback, shopathome.com has 7% cashback on JC right now:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.shopathome.com/Coupons/jcrew.com
I don't even buy Crewcuts on final sale anymore. I have ordered Crewcuts for my daughter since they debuted years ago but they have changed the style of the adjustable waist and are so ill fitting now. Thank goodness I only ordered her one pair last year on sale as she cannot wear them this winter!
ReplyDeleteWhile definitely not a fan of the evil final sale; I did grab a few items and I'm confident they will work out. I grabbed some tees from the factory side along with a pair of shorts. For $50 with shipping it's pretty much a no brainer. $9 t-shirts in a good colour were a score.
ReplyDeleteI do understand why a store eventually needs to get to a final sale point. they do want to unload some things and not have them return. J.Crew does seem to do the whole final sale thing a little too quickly and easily. Maybe instead of making the entire sale section final sale they could simply give the old items a major markdown and identify them as final sale. If the price was low enough many of us would complain less over final sale.
Like everyone else I think the whole no returns bit is what stops us from buying on final sale. If I could try the item on and see it in person I would be more likely to buy final sale items. But since I'm far away from a store, I go safe rather than sorry.
I recently purchased some final sale items from CrewCuts = for my little ones and was really lucky to score some great items.
ReplyDeleteFor my little guy the Boys' tweed vest. The vest is well made and really adorable.
and for my little girl the Girls' winter break shirtdress and Girls' Caroline cardigan. The Caroline cardigan fits like the Jackie and I could probably order a size 14 for myself. The cardigan is priced at 24.99 + 30% off which really is a good deal for this staple cardigan.
I'm holding off on ordering any more because kids are kids and I try to get their clothing at rock bottom prices. I'm really hoping for a 40% off soon or a visit to a crewcuts store in the near future.
MegCrew, I LOVE that tweed vest! Will your boy actually wear it??
ReplyDeleteand Genny, I don't buy pants FS just shirts, pjs, undies, accessories. The pants are so wide that it is hard to get my boys in them. The standard long sleeve tee is fabulous though, the best fit for all three of mine. Granted an extra 50% off would increase my order!
Marisa,
ReplyDeleteHe is only 2 so a this point I still have full control over is wardrobe. I must say he is pretty handsome in it!
