J.Crew Updates Sale Section!

J.Crew has a nice update to their Final Sale (click here to shop online). At time of posting (around 8:30AM), there are over 300+ sale items for Men and 1000+ sale items for Women. That is pretty darn good!

Of course J.Crew would update their Final Sale after yesterday's "J.Crew's After Holiday Sales {meh}" post. ;) No complaints here, because I am happy to see some new additions to the Sale section. {yey!}

Don't forget, J.Crew is offering 25% off Final Sale with promo code SHOPNOW. This offer expires Friday, January 6, 2012.

Did you check out the Final Sale section today? Were you able to snag any amazing deals? If so, please share! :)

  1. I saw that the Sterling skirt is on sale now. But I can't do Final Sale without having tried on the item first. Ah well.

  2. Still holding fast to my refusal to buy things on final sale. There are so many items my local store does not get so I haven't got the option to try before buying. If I can't return an item that doesn't work, I'm not spending the money on a gamble.

I know I'm not the only one here who has found themselves with items from J. Crew's final sale that don't work, don't fit, don't look the way we expected, and we are stuck with them. After doing a lot of that myself, and selling on the exchange or ebay or at Buffalo Exchange, I came to the realization that I probably spent many hundreds of dollars on items I didn't keep and sold for much less. Ugh. No more final sale, say it with me!!

  3. The Emmett boots are now on sale. I scored a pair in warm sienna this morning. Now I just hope the 7 fit (thank you to all who reviewed,I was able to do a quick scan of a November review post). $175 final sale, fingers crossed

  4. I really wish they did more than 25% extra off. This is less than they usually do and shouldn't it be MORE, like every other retailer out there?

If the usual "good" discount is 30% extra off, at least offer that if not 40% or 50%

  5. I broke down and ordered streamer t-strap shoe and Elisabetta peep-toe heels in fuchsia. I hope they fit. They are no longer on the website - don't know if they will pop back or not.

  6. Against my better judgement, I bit this morning. Bought the wildcat cardi and the paisley blouson dress, both of which cost around $45 after discount. The cardi wasn't marked final sale, but I can't imagine I'll need to return it. I was just this morning looking at my wildcat cardi from a few years ago and moping because I'm too fluffy to fit into it these days. The new one looks very similar to it, so here's to hoping...!

  7. I bought the cashmere toque in Poppy Red that I've been hoping would come back into stock, but that's about the only thing I'd ever buy on Final Sale without trying on first.

  8. I bought the cargo silk skirt. I have tried it on so it is not a blind final sale buy. I cannot resist that peacock color. Simply beautiful. FYI there are some new sizes popping back in other non sale offerings. I finally found my size the wool cuffed hutton trousers. I also grabbed a merino turtleneck on final sale. Great basic piece. I have had good luck w/ JCrew 100% merino sweaters. I wish they would put more of the winter shoes on sale!

  10. I'm not gonna lie, it kind of bums me out to hear that people are still willing to take a chance on FS items, especially given the many quality/sizing inconsistency complaints of 2011. To each their own - but it continues to allow JC to use this tactic to unload their merchandise (especially at first markdown). If they want to sell last summer's shorts for $14.99 FS, fine - but first markdown sweaters (acrylic blends,at that) shouldn't be FS at $100+. As long as this cycle of FS/% off continues to move inventory, there's no reason for JC to rethink FS - and the time period between FS and non-FS will continue to get shorter and shorter. I'm with Desert Flower.

  11. Not even looking. I returned much more than I kept in November/December so I'm very reluctant to even consider final sale.

  12. I can't understand why the talitha blouse has not gone on sale yet in the solid colors. grrrrrr. Or how about putting some patent Monas on sale Jcrew!

    ReplyDelete
  13. i hear you, silver. i feel pretty confident that the items I bought are sure things; happily, if I don't like the cardi, i will be able to return it.

i continue to be absolutely amazed by the way this company conducts business and 'manages' inventory.

what i would not give for an hour in a room with Dear Leader and whoever is supposed to be in charge of customer service / the customer experience! i would let it rip for 59 minutes and 59 seconds! arrrgghh!

  14. I totally agree re: final sale. I will absolutely not buy anything I have not tried on or already own. I hate to condone it but I had to make an exception on this skirt because I have been stalking it for ages waiting for a sale. Truth be told if it was not final sale I would have spent another 300 dollars or so today on a blazer and outerwear but I have not tried them on so I am not going to start now on FS!

  15. It's looking like not all items are final sale...I just purchased the cashmere crewneck cardigan in heather jungle and the cashmere l/s tee in fiesta purple and neither were marked final sale.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Desert Flower: I couldn't agree more. Spent too much on items in FS and now, they are either in the pile for EBAY or my local thrift store :(

    ReplyDelete
  17. Though I hate final sale - I had to bite when my favorite accessories popped back up on the site. I got the nail polish 3-pack and edie pursette in a gorgeous red and buttery brown color. Accessories always fit!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Does anyone have a review of the Paneled Cashmere Sweater? Wondering if it fits TTS and how boxy it is (the side view on the model makes it look pretty roomy, which usually means I need to size down). TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  19. You struck a chord with the "meh" post, Alexis, and frankly after a quick look, the sale section looks like more of the same.

    ReplyDelete
  20. CNBC is having a special on customer service tonight at 8, I think. May be cathartic for some.

    ReplyDelete
  21. wellfedfred: LOL! I know what you mean. I got all excited about seeing the restock in the sale section but did not get anything.

I even have a gift card that I want to use, but there is nothing that is calling me at this time.

There are a few things I am interested but I am worried about fit because of Final Sale, and at their current price points, I need to be more confident about them to actually pull the trigger at the shopping cart.

Hopefully the next promotion will change my mind. :)

  22. Sara: How does the cargo skirt fit?

  23. No final sale for me either. I bought what I wanted before Christmas and furthermore, don't NEED anything right now anyway.

  24. Just came from my B&M and they're offering an additional 40% off sale. Saw a few cute things but most of the merchandise looked very shopworn, the Wynter sweaters especially, and the line was so long that I ended up leaving without buying anything. I did, however, lift my JC shopping ban yesterday to order a few final sale items online despite having to pay for shipping, mostly around-the-house stuff like a sweatshirt and pajama pants and also the Factory mohair cardi in white ash - at $18.74, how wrong could I go? I have to say, though, having tried on several things at the store, the quality decline is just so striking. Even the Jackie cardigan, which I would've bought if not for the line, felt very synthetic and cheap to me compared with my Jackies from 2008 and prior. And even the Jenna cardigan I'm wearing today for the second time is all pilly down the sleeves - I've always thought the 100% merino wool sweaters were a safe bet but I guess not!

    ReplyDelete
  25. If the merino cardi i bought this morning is crap, it's going right back. I've lost all patience for shoddy quality. I find myself wondering how long my treasures from the golden years will last, considering how much wear they're getting this year!

Speaking of which, whoever I bought the Rivington boots from a few weeks ago, I love them and they fit like they were made for me, so HUGE thanks to you! :)

  26. I was wondering how tight the Hacking Jacket is compared to the Schoolboy? I have the schoolboy and it fits great, but is a tiny bit spacious in the waist. Hacking looks a little tighter. Should I size up?

    Thanks!

I posted a review on my site of the Schoolboy and will do another one when the Hacking arrives (already bought one and sized up, thinking about another)

  27. How's this for a promo? Save 100% by not buying anything....wheeee! At least, that's my new motto. I may just email myself!
I spent a lot in Nov/Dec and want to lay low for a while. Hope you all are able to snag some good deals!

    ReplyDelete
  28. On final sale items,I really don't like to gamble. I got a few basic items that I have different colors of. The Yorkdale store(Toronto, Canada) has a huge clearance section with a lot of sizes left, everything 50% off reduced items, much better deals than the online 25%.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Kim, I bought a schoolboy blazer in a size 2 and it is a bit of a "shrunken fit" on me whereas if I were to buy the hacking I would have gone with a 4. HTH

  30. Alicia - The cargo skirt fits TTS. I have to have it hemmed though to a petite length. It is beautiful.

  31. So negative ladies! Yes, final sale is a bummer if you look at it as a venue for your usual try-and-return shopping tactics---but I figure, I've had all season to either go to my b&m or place an online order for items I'm curious about (especially with the free-shipping pre-Christmas!). So instead, I view final sale as a way I can purchase great items that I've already tried-on and (somehow) resisted throughout the season, at a fraction of what I would have paid earlier! Yippee!

This time around I picked up the Wonderland Puffer in Candy Apple---for anyone hedging on it because of the bright color, I assure you, it's fantastic! Brilliant red, leaning more toward the orangy side than the blue, but in no way obnoxious. A great way to brighten up the blah winter season and stand out in the sea of black/navy.

  32. I received an email from my PS about spring lookbook preordering, and also that in store, they are offering 40% off men & women’s sale (final of course) and 50% off crewcuts sale.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I called the Short Hills store to order the wildcat cardigan. It's $59.99 plus 40% off. The SA didn't charge for shipping either! It is Final Sale, but I tried it on awhile ago.

    ReplyDelete
  34. In my opinion final sale is not a joyous "yippee" occassion. It's a real pisser. :)

I've been buying/returning for years & it's an exhausting routine.

Two issues that come to mind:
    1) Sampling merchandise before committing would be great if I could make a decision on all the items I may possibly want to purchase during any given season.

2)All merchandise is not available during the "Free Ship" or other promo's.

Yet, I am guilty of being a Final Sale enabler. Today I pulled the trigger on the Shearling McAlister Wedges never having tried them. (Don't hate me silver_lining! :)
My sixty-something year old mother made me do it. Really!) I did add the Shrunken Fisherman Sweater, in two sizes, to the order so I could try it out!

I saw a pair of 7 in the red glitter flats in store today on sale for 79 then 40% off.
I think maybe you are looking for them but not sure what size.

    I emailed you the info.

  37. I feel so guilty........
I did it Silver and Desert.....
Just couldn't resist. Purchased the Tinsel Lace Dress (Essh! Hope it fits!)and Vintage Lace cotton tee---total price 67.00 (that's beofre shipping)
Isn't the first step admitting one has a problem? If so, I HAVE A PROBLEM---Stupid sales always get me. Sigh!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I agree with others. No final sale for me. I just don't look and then am not tempted. I have not bought any final sale in a year!

P.S. The Tinsel lace items are awful, cheap material IMO (and few others posteds about the skirt material being awful and returning it ASAP!). Just a heads up to stay away from anything made with tinsel twead if it is final sale and you have never seen the material.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Genny-- thanks for the heads up. Lesson learned. Oh well, guess I have my Halloween outfit for next year. :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. (original) Genny: I was wondering why the dress is $38 after promo (originally $188) until I saw it in-store. It's not surprising that all sizes are still in stock.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I just want to say if you haven't tried the flare jeans yet, give them a try on if you go to a b&m. The jezebel are on sale in the b&m for $40 and the black are on sale online. They're my new favorite jean! (And, yes, I'm getting another pair of the jezebel - too good of a price to ignore :D.)

Mini, thanks for the info. My ps is checking on them - hope they still have them when he calls. I have them on back order online, but they could get canceled and getting the markdown price could be a hassle, although my ps said he'd take care of it once they shipped. Love him!

    ReplyDelete
  42. math teacher-
It sounds like your PS is just simply awesome!!! Can I ask you if the Jezebel jean stretch out a lot?? I wear a toothpick jean in size 26, should I get the same size i.e. 26? or go for a 25?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Elaine, that was me! Glad you love them!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Joelle, he is awesome. :) I wear a 29 in toothpick and a 28 in all other JC denim. :) My pant size at JC is a 4. My flare jeans didn't stretch at the waist any more than other JC denim. They do come up higher on the waist, which I like b/c it keeps my love handles in - no muffin top for me in these. HTH

    ReplyDelete
  45. Well now I feel like an idiot, since the store is selling the damn wildcat cardi cheaper than online. It's called cross-channel price consistency, J Crew. Wake up! Arrggghhh.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Red bubble necklace is now $89.99 in-store + the addtl 40%. That promo started today, Fri -- as you now know. Not sure when it ends. Surely thru this Sun at least.

    ReplyDelete
  47. No, I didn't snag any deals. The only deal I got was before Christmas when I was able to snag a vneck cashmere in a gorgeous salmon color for $50. Now that's what I'm talking about! Today, I bit on a second vneck and a long sleeve-tee cashmere. Both were $80 after sale w/additional off....geesh.

Well, I could say I did a get a deal. Monday, I ordered rain boots for my son, and got a Rhea silk popover in paisley instead. Huh?

    ReplyDelete
  48. So here is the top I got on accident: Rhea popover in paisley $89.99 item 62499

The colors are much more vivid in real life, bright coral and neon pink, reminds me of Lilly Pulitzer. Fits TTS (perfect shirt size.)

    ReplyDelete
  49. I have to confess that I finally bit on the sale this morning with the big update to the sale section (2 days in a row... during a sale? since when does that happen?), but I only got a few inexpensive accessories or items that I've tried before. I ALMOST called the whole thing off when I realized I was still being made to pay shipping (I don't think there was any minimum), but I just couldn't resist the men's finds that I got for my husband for his birthday coming up. They were just too perfect and too cheap (29% off if you count ebates). Unfortunately FS is the only time I can afford JC... if anything is really off I will argue with CS to the death. I just hope I get all the correct items!

    ReplyDelete
  50. gigi, if you saw the red bubble necklace, would you mind sharing which store that was? thanks!!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Was excited to see today's promo for 30% off factory sweaters until I realized the mohair cardi has disappeared. It was available in most sizes and colors when I ordered one on Wednesday, and with another 30% off I would've ordered at least 2 more! It would have been dirt cheap, which is no doubt why the item page was removed. Anyone have a link by any chance?? (fingers crossed)

    ReplyDelete
  52. OMG I found it! A google search of the item number from my receipt did the trick. $14.99 with the 25% off promo code :)

  53. Dara, The sweater is on the site but they only list it under the "Clearance" section. You'd think they would put it under "Sweaters" and "Clearance" but they don't. Not sure the difference, isn't all of it clearance when it's final sale?

    ReplyDelete
  54. JustVisiting, thanks! I wouldn't have even thought to look under clearance. Silly me thought a sweater would be categorized under sweaters ;) Good to know that they didn't hide it because of the promo though - sadly, I've come to expect that.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Has anyone tried the Factory Tulipe cami? I absolutely love the style and upon zooming in, the fabric looks ok (like the usual thin silk crepe they use for factory stuff) but if it is the super cheap silk habotai I do not want them. Can anyone confirm that they aren't heinously cheap? Haha, thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Kim, the schoolboy blazer is more boxy than the hacking jacket. If you have narrow shoulders you may be ok, otherwise I would size up.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Mini, thanks so much again for the info! My PS was able to locate the glitterati flats and on they're on their way. Plus, I was able to get the 40% off and he asked them to include the 15% teacher discount plus free shipping. :)
