This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)
If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.
Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.
Some Anthro reviews here.
ReplyDeleteFor those of you that like full skirts, Talbots has a pretty linen and cotton one in navy and white in their newest collection. The fabric is a more refined version of what JC is using in their crosshatch pencils. It isn't online as of this morning but my B&M had it yesterday. It has a nice shape and hit me a little below my knees at 5'4". Most of Talbots's clothing is too boxy for me, but this was perfection.
ReplyDeleteIf I see it added online, I will post a link.

ReplyDeleteanyone try madewell's "bed|stü™ aunt bettie boat shoe" item #36610?
ReplyDeleteit says half sizes order down... but then says for best fit order a size down from your usual size. sooo.. if i'm normally an 8, what do i get? and how's the quality on madewell shoes in general?
BR is having a collaboration with Trina Turk this summer--looks very promising!

ReplyDeleteWow, maybe I'd actually buy something from BR for the first time in like 5 years. Thanks the info, Cass!
ReplyDeleteMiss JR, I have a pair of bed|stü loafers that I picked up on sale at Anthro last fall -- I did end up going down just the half-size.
ReplyDeleteI have really wide feet so breaking them in was kind of rough, but the length of the shoe was fine and I love them now.
Hope that's helpful!
Picked up a few items from Madewell (lightning-fast shipping, btw):
ReplyDeleteTicketstub Storyteller Scarf = Adorable! And square :) Soft with great color saturation. Modal/Cotton blend.
Rouge Dot Skirt in Moon Tree= "Moon Tree" means "slightly faded black". The dots are a rust color. Pleats are cute, skirt is not sheer even though it looks like it might be, and it falls a couple of inches below my knees (I'm 5'8"). Don't think it's a keeper as it is just a bit too granny for me.
Skinny Skinny Jeans in Hopper wash= VERY NICE. Soft and stretchy denim but not too thin. Dunno if this wash is available anymore, but I like these enough that I might get a faded blue pair for spring. TTS.
Thanks disco George!

ReplyDeletePosted some pics of cute preppy pieces from Macy's today (trellis print trench, striped knit blazer, stripey tee) that are really cute.

Also, Land's End Canvas is offering button-down shirts for $12.
Shopwithm: love the striped knit blazer!
ReplyDeleteI checked out those $12 LEC shirts...for a hot minute I thought I was seeing the Pink berry color of the Perfect Shirt in Liberty Arts Floral 65520 when I checked out this Daylily orange multi floral poplin shirt.
NEWOXFORD, with pin 2461 works for free shipping no min at LE and LEC; trying their blue oxford GiGi has posted about, a white stretch poplin, and 'had' to go back and try the daylilly orange after seeing Catherine K's post; love those colors together :)
ReplyDeleteReviewed a few Talbots items today, including the Port Stripe Coat (so cute!) and the Ikat Jacket. reviews
ReplyDeleteAlso, tons of great markdowns, like the Damita Kitten Heel (similar to the Viv Pump, but shorter heels).
