Extra 40% off J.Crew's Final Sale {now we are talking!}

"Thanks!" to many of you, including alicialoveseveryone & (original) Genny (in this post), A Bigger Closet (in this post), as well as Irina, who shared the following email & news from J.Crew.

J.Crew is offering customers to take 40% off all sale items (no min) with promo code OURTREAT. This offer expires Wednesday, January 25, 2012. The fine print includes:
*No exchanges, no returns on items marked as final sale. Offer valid at jcrew.com and J.Crew retail stores only. Offer is not valid at J.Crew Factory stores. Offer does not apply to previous purchases or to the purchase of gift cards. 40% off discount applies to J.Crew sale and Factory sale online items only. Offer valid through Wednesday, January 25, 2012, 11:59pm ET. Savings are applied at checkout with code OURTREAT. Offer not valid on phone orders. Cannot be combined with any other promotion. Limit one promotional code per order. Details of offer are subject to change.
There was an okay update this morning (women at 800+ items and men at 200+ items). To shop online, click here.

I am really happy to see 40% off their sale (which matches the offer at brick & mortar stores). YEY!

Will you be checking out the Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get?

  1. I was wondering if this would happen today... of course there is still nothing I want that's in stock!

  2. Placed an order on Friday with 30% off code... wonder if they can honor me 40% off. Did anyone try the same thing?

  3. The extra 10 off covers the shipping on the one thing I've been waiting to buy - so I did. But, but, but, I feel like I just placed a bid on ebay and won't know for hours or days if I'll actually get my stuff.

  4. Aside from watching for a couple of pop-backs, I'm trying to restrain myself, but it's great to finally see a 40% off sale!

  5. I was hoping for the 25 or 30% off new items but will take the 40% off sale items. Haven't bought in a while. Maybe today is the day.

  6. Love that it's extra 40% off (FINALLY) but sadly there is nothing I want in stock right now. Isn't that always the way? Grrr.

  7. And jo, they will possibly credit you back the 10% in price difference, but not without attitude and mentioning that it's a "one-time courtesy" they're extending to you. Unless it was a very large order, I'm not sure I'd bother for the 10%. JMO. May want to save your 'get out of jail free' card for a big order down the line....!

  8. I bit on two donegal wool shawl cardigans and the wool tux pant. Fingers crossed that they all work out!

  9. Is it my imagination or are some prices wildly off online compared to stores? I could swear I've seen the vintage tweed skirt for much less in stores than the $119 price tag on the website.

I had such an unpleasant phone encounter with CS last week, I am averse to shopping J.Crew for a while. Gah but their reps can be obnoxious.

  10. Nice, but they need to throw in free shipping. An update would also be nice! Nothing I have to have...

  11. carolyn from Vancouver...
    40% off but SLIM PICKINGS.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Can anyone tell me if any of the NYC stores have enough sale stock left to be worth visiting? I'm sort of guessing they're getting pretty slim by now... TIA!

  13. I bit. I've been holding off on the repeated 30% offs, since there was no free shipping, but I figure for the few things I wanted, 40% off pretty much equates to 30% with FS. Or at least I'm telling myself that.

I'm trying the Paley pant. Does anyone know how these fit? TTS? I usually take a sz. 2 in everything so that's what I went with. I've never seen them IRL, so let's hope they won't be up on eBay next week.

  14. There is one item I would love to have, but can't see it, so I will probably pass.

  15. I was very pleased to pick up the old-style sophia dress in silk tricotine for $30... The new sophia dress is poly instead of silk (at the same price), and is missing the flattering wide waistband!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I've yet to see anyone comment on the Paley pant, and I have also wondered for some time now how the fit is.

  17. I looked at the Crewcuts items to see if there was anything enticing, but there wasn't (even with free shipping!). How much lower can they go and what on earth are they going to do with all that stuff?

    Scary!

  18. Thank God for this blog. I didn't get the email this morning about the 40% off sale. I did call customer service, becuase I placed an order on Saturday & Sunday and they were able to give me the 40% off adjustment.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think if they really want to blow the stuff out, that they should lower the prices. Right now, considering a re-purchase/return due to a lower price and I haven't worn it yet. Just gotta check my receipt to make sure I'm still in my 60 day window.

  20. Lovely promo... sadly nothing I really have to have. Throw in free shipping then maybe I'll be inspired to loose some sleep looking for "popbacks"

  21. I was hoping to score the Sorel Caribou boots, they had them in most sizes last night and was waiting to see if there would be additional % off. Now they are all gone..oh well may keep checking but that is the only thing for me.

  22. I'm considering the rhea paisley popover but there's no b&m stores in my area so I haven't tried it on. Can anyone comment on the fit? It is a final sale after all....

    ReplyDelete
  23. I went to the site to check out the 40% off sale and ended up looking at all the full priced items. In the picture for the Montmartre coat the model is carrying a gray and black leather satchel. Has anyone seen it before?

    TIA

  24. West Coast Crew'ner, I tried on the rhea paisley popover last week. It is beautiful, however, the sizing was completely off. It's supposed to be tunic style, but for me, it didn't work out. I normally wear a size 4 perfect shirt, and this shirt in the 4 was way too tight around the hips and bust, but the 6 was perfect in the hips and HUGE in the bust. I even tried a 2 which I couldn't even get on!! If you aren't pear shaped, it might work. It truly is a beautiful piece.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Thanks Savvy Shopper- that was just the inspiration I needed! Nope, I'm not pear-shaped, so hopefully it will be fine. If not, I'm sure it won't be anything a tailor couldn't fix with a few well-placed darts.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hi WCC, I also bought the Rhea in Paisley. I agree that it is a tough fit if you are a pear shape. I had to size up one from my normal perfect shirt size to get it to fit in the hips. The chest is big but I am used to this always being a problem for me. Thank the Lord for padded bras!

  27. Kimberley, that bag is the Kirtley Satchel (item #49238). I ordered it on sale in October and I love it, matches with almost everything! I haven't seen it online in a while, but maybe customer service would be able to help?

  28. @ Shekster

Can you comment on the colors in the Rhea Popover? I can't tell if it is really really bright (like fluorescent) red or coral or orange or what. That would be helpful!

BTW - I contact CS about measurement and the Rhea does seem to run about 1 size big in the chest but TTS in the waist/hip. HTH!

  29. I have the paley pant in a linen from the past summer, 42129. I really like them. They do NOT have the zipper on the legs. I did NOT like the Paley with the leg zippers. I take an 8 in favorite fit and a 6 in city fit. I got these in an 8. They fit a little more snug in the legs than the current wool cafe capri pants and tighter at the bottom of the leg. The Paleys are unlined like the wool cafe's. I just measured a pair of my wool cafe's in the same size, 8, with my linen Paleys in 8 and yes, the legs are more narrow all the way down on the Paleys. Hope this helps. :)

  30. Hi OperRach: Re: Rea in Paisley: The overall effect of the colors is pretty bright, but not like the Azalea Blythe. It is mostly a redish-pink print with the brighter hot-pink being less notable. The tones are the same as the reddish Lucinda blouse. I think that reddish version was called poppy. It reads more red than pink to me as the main color is a darker red. I think it looks like the one on my monitor but I know the monitors all vary. It is "loud" but I am a sucker for paisley and will wear it will all neutrals. I know Pathos commented earlier this month on it as well. DON'T buy it if you are the least bit hesitant about wearing bright colors in a louder pattern! Hope this helps!

  31. Thanks Shekster, although I have to laugh as though it seems that we have opposite problems. I have never quite figured out why they make padded D cup bras? Padding is that last thing I need!

  32. I bought my 4yo daughter a dress she wanted for her birthday. I got it for $20 originally $60! And somehow free shipping... Maybe bc it was crew cuts? I can't wait for it to get here! Her first jcrew dress... sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'd rather have 20% off full price returnable items.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Heyy, I put in the OURTREAT promo and it took 40% off not only final sale, but regular sale! I called to check (b/c I am buying bridesmaid dresses and will likely have to make exchanges) and they confirmed it is not only final sale, but also regular sale! Hurrah!

  36. I snagged the Wintress Puffer in black for $108. I worried it might be kind of frumpy, but I live in Chicago and am freezing running around in the Townhouse Trench I bought last fall, so I bit the bullet and took a chance. Also, I don't recall seeing the puffers in Tall sizes (I'm almost 6'0") until this season, so I'm pretty excited.

And of course, I *had* to order $75 more in merchandise to qualify for free shipping, so I grabbed a pair of Coal Minnies for $30, a Navy Crochet Lace-Front tee for $27 (just regular sale but I still got the 40%), and the Perfect Fit Ribbon henley in warm mustard for $15. This is my second final sale purchase in two weeks, but I usually only buy J Crew when it's on sale.

  37. I've anticipated this sale for the last couple months, saving my money, knowing I would want to bite. Now that the day is here....I don't have anything I want! I want to want something! Todays update was blah, I'm not sure there was even one. As I waited and refreshed my browser a million times and the wee hours of the night I only watch it drop from the prior days number.

I want a pair of the cafe capris in wool but in a certain color that isn't on sale so my fingers are crossed for new mark downs but I have a feeling my hopes will end in sadness.

Well enough of that. I did post some factory reviews on my blog! megancrewreviews.blogspot.com

I included the Factory version of the Maritime Blazer, crosstown tee in polka dot and the factory skimmer in modern red.

  38. OT, a tiny bit...

I actually made it to a STORE tonight, such a rarity in my life. LOL.

    1. It was Pentagon City, which tends to do more "business" items, so there were new arrivals, but only a selection. That said, they were BEAUTIFUL, especially the jewelry (swoon over it all, such pretty colors and beading and crystals). I loved seeing all the rainbow brights and patterns, really helped lift my day--very foggy here in NOVA.

I did not try anything on (31 weeks pregnant means nothing really fits) outside of some jewelry and shoes and knit pieces...but there are some items on my "measuring tape" list. In other words, the items I will ask my ps for measurements of so I can order them and put aside for after I give birth.

There was a pretty purple/cream patterned no. 2 pencil skirt in the store, looked like something you all would love. Didn't grab a photo, but I bet someone will...very cute.

Fanfare print is very pretty in real life, but again, very derivative of something J. Crew did a few years ago (great for those of who missed out on it!).

The knits were wonderful, very thick and seemingly well made. Lots of stripes for you stripes lovers.

One miss was the tortoise shell link frog clasp necklace. I liked it but not nearly as much as the original (which I own). I think the tortoise links are too big and overwhelm the cute little pink/yellow frog clasp. That said, you go down in price a lot, bad boy, and you may just make it home with me. ;)

    2. The folks at Pentagon city were so nice. Consistently nice, in fact. Such a pleasure to have them be so close to me...such a shame I have to go to Tyson's to see all the "good" stuff. Only Jackie makes visiting Tyson's worthwhile from a customer service perspective.

    3. And ON topic. :) I did find a pair of Glitterati ballet flats in gold in my size, and with the 40%, got them for around $40. Wish they could have been red, but the gold will go with more. Yay!

The sale section was teeny, really not much there, but could be worth a peek if you need basics.

(Although they did have the Marielle Dress in solstice floral in many sizes, so if you wanted that, may be worth your while to call.)

Okay, LONG post done. You all have a great night!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Nat- the Wintress Puffer does come in Tall and Petites! I don't know why JCrew hides those sizes sometimes. I have even called CS to place an order through them, to have them tell me that XYZ doesn't come in Petite, or Tall when in fact I saw it the night before, had been stalking it for a week, and had a screenshot of it too. If you want the tall I would say bug CS to let you swap for that size b/c it is their fault for not having it available at the time of your purchase. And, IMO, the Wintress sleeves ran short so you might really need that tall!

  42. I know you've all moved on to spring but in Maine we've got six more months of winter. :) I'm thinking about using this sale to get the perennial peacoat in bright orange, which just might to get me through the rest of snow and mud seasons. Any opinions on fit and/or color? Many thanks!

  43. It was 50% off sale items at the TORONTO Yorkdale Mall store this past weekend. I bought a Perfect Fit plaid shirt for $20.

  44. Was there an update to the sale section today? I checked at 6am and kept waiting for items to be added, but it never happened. Is it really this slim of pickings?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Is this the last sale or do they offer 50% final sale items?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Meg - there was another very small update but it was a little bigger than yesterdays. I think they added about 150 items.

cca- in years prior this is as good as the sale got and it ends after the new arrivals come which is this week....

  47. I think i might breakdown and order the Natasha top! I have been coveting that for a while now :)
