J.Crew of Season's Past: {a look in the closet}

It's that time again, to take a look at an image of J.Crew pieces from seasons past! As caribbelle (in this post) so beautifully termed, "ye olde j crew of yore".

This look came out for the Holidays in 2007. (Please correct me if I am mistaken.) I love the fun ruffles of the white Elizabeth Halter Cami peeking through the old school Gryphon Crest Tee. The full knee-length skirt just adds that bit of feminine touch. This whole outfit is something I would totally wear today (well, if it were warmer.) ;)

What are your thoughts on the look(s)/item(s) from the past? Do you find the look(s)/item(s) classic or do you think they are dated?

  1. I would definitely wear something like this today. I would probablt tuck the cami and tee into a skirt like that though. I would wear the tee draped over a pencil or straight skirt.

  2. I still have that tee! I just double checked the tag. It does say HO 07.

  3. Yep, really enjoy these posts...got the cami and the skirt. Not the tee though...It is going to be in the 60's here today. I have only worn a winter coat a couple times this year. Not complaining though as I prefer spring/summer clothing or clothing that can be worn year round!

  4. LOVE =) I bought a ton of Elizabeth Camis way back in the day, and I still wear them. Thanks for sharing -- it is giving me new inspiration for more ways to wear them come spring!

  5. So chic! The shape of the skirt reminds me of this season's wool Flair skirt.

  6. This outfit is adorable. I can't see layering a silk cami under a tee... seems too fussy. But I still like the look.

  7. I love this look, but I can't see myself in it. Such is the case with most of the catalog looks...

  8. I still have, and wear, both of those pieces, but I never thought to wear them together... Thanks for the inspiration!

Also, after going through old catalogues (thanks to http://thejcrewarchives.blogspot.com), I definitely think 2007 was an incredible year for J.Crew.

  9. I have this tee still & wear it with with a charcoal wrap sweater. I also have a matching necktie belt in the gray pinstripe.

  12. I would absolutely wear this look, perhaps with a black blazer for work. I still have a lot of my graphic tees and wear them intermittently. Love the flair style of the skirt and that it is knee length.

  13. Shopping Celle,

I swear I have every silk necktie belt color that was ever made by J.Crew. I used to stalk them at super sale. I have small totes with them all rolled up with critters as well and some gorgeous J.Crew wool belts. I used to go crazy for them all:) LOL! Still pull them out from time to time and my daughter enjoys them as well.

  14. Oooh, love the tee! Still have the black tee with lion rampant in black sequins. I got it in beige too. They are treasures.

  15. Jeez I saved every catalog from like 2000-2004 through high school and I am so wishing that I didn't throw them away!! And yeah, 2007 was a great year.

  18. (original) Genny,

I wish Jcrew will notice we still are hanging on to our necktie belts and bring out a whole new collection. It seems that the latest in jewels are a throwback to the good ole days so maybe there is hope!
