Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Stopped by the Garden State Plaza store in NJ today. They had a big rollout on Tuesday, but more items arrived today. Picked up a really cute l/s crew neck sweater that's grey in the front and black in the back (and longer in the back, as well). It came in four other color combos (as I recall). Some nice items, and it seems like they've gone back to everything being oversized. I sized down on everything I tried on. There was a really nice metallic sweater (it came in black, blue and (maybe?) blush) but it was cut very short (but wide), with high slits on the side. The proportions seemed off, which was a bummer, because I'm like a crow and always drawn to a good metallic!

  2. Went to my store yesterday to make a return and there were tons on sale, lots of summer stuff, jeans and button sweaters. When I was walking in, there was a lady ahead of me who also had a return. Several of the SAs were having a meeting on the floor when we came in, it looks like they were planning for the new rollout and I heard one say to another, "oh look more returns", I'm guessing that happens a lot. I hope this new rollout has some fun items.

  3. Does anyone know what it means when your order says released on the account page, yet open when you click the order number?
I have two orders that are approaching a 6 days w/o shipping. One item was full priced and appears to be in stock, but the other was a sale item. I'm thinking the sale item will end up being canceled, but seriously, why in the world does it take so long for them to process? I've emailed CS about the full price item and they said I should have the order by the middle of next week. Strange. I usually receive my orders within 3-5 days.

    1. Hi allyson - I think 'open' means they're getting the item ready to ship. It used to be very quick between open and shipped, but I've also noticed things taking longer lately. They might be searching stores for your sale item.

I don't know why orders are taking so much longer to process - I got a package yesterday that I ordered on 10/4 for an in-stock online item that I've seen at my B&M... it took like, 6 days to ship from a store on the other side of the country (and then another 6 days to get here). I wish there was an option when placing orders to have them ship from the warehouse even if it takes a little longer. Let's face it, things (especially sweaters) get shopworn.

    2. Thanks silver_lining. I agree with you, I'd much rather have the item come from the warehouse. I hope my sale item ships, it's about the only thing I've gotten excited about with this fall roll out. My fingers are crossed that the shipping email arrives soon!

    3. I was told that "released" meant that your credit card had been tested and passed. I've had articles "released" that lingered for over a week, and then gotten the dreaded "we wish we had enough" or one of those "information about your order" messages that tells you the thing is now on backorder.

      Delete
    4. I'm having the same problem with an item that hasn't shipped for three days. CS was unhelpful and it's sold out so now I'm worried I won't receive it.

    5. My full priced item shipped yesterday- 6 days after I placed the order. My sale item is still showing released. sigh. It's sold out now and I'm sure the canceled email will show up any day now. I still don't understand how/why they choose to manage their inventory. Other retailers don't have 6+ day lags in shipping nor do they offer an item as in stock and then after 6-8 days send you an email saying they wish they'd made enough...I placed an order with anthro last week. It shipped the next day and arrived at my house 3 days later. I wish J.Crew would figure out how to do that too!

    6. What happened to me is that they sent me an e-mail 8 days after placing my order that the item "was not in stock" even though it was a full price item and was showing in stock in all sizes online at the time of the email! And now, I'm waiting for another full priced item from Factory to ship and its been 7 days.. And I saw the item at my local store just yesterday and it's showing in stock online. I'm sure ill still be getting another cancelation email. This is really frustrating- even OldNavy does a better job at shipping things out promptly!

    1. Thanks for the heads up, Lauren. There are some pretty stuff I'd like to see for myself. I've been wanting a black wrap skirt like that to wear w/ my perforated monk straps, hope the material is good. I can't wait for this Wednesday's online roll-out!

so I guess this means that the JC employees who rebuked our AJC for taking pictures are no longer at that location?

    4. Ha, I wondered the same thing, Fred.

      Thanks for sharing, Lauren!

    5. AJC's store visits generated so much excitement about the upcoming rollouts. Banning her was one of the biggest fails.

    6. I agree, Gigi. They backpedaled on it eventually, but it was too late. They ruined a good thing.

    11. Love the gold elephants on that skirt, their skirts are always so cute, but not practical for me to be bare legged in the winters (brr). Wish I could do it. Always love seeing her display photos---so inspiring! (even tho i just returned $500 of merch this week from icky looking sweaters! I still love seeing the looks. )

    12. I rarely purchase anything as I relied on AJC's reviews. I really miss her. When she had that problem I lost interest in the line. She was spot on and always had me laughing. The good old days.

  5. Yes, I plan on going to my local J.Crew this weekend to find out about the "Denim VIP Card" that my VPS emailed me about -- apparently, it entitles me to a complimentary pair of denim for trying crew's new denim program. Has anyone else heard about this?

    1. Miss JR and other JCA interested in the downshift shirt - Ema just reviewed it here on her Instagram. She found it to run small and also suggests sizing up unless you are flat-chested.

    2. I decided to go with the Small... in part thanks to your previous comment from yesterday in answer to my question and our similar measurements... it took CS about a day to get back to my garment measurement question which is why I posted on JCA ... so fingers crossed and thanks! :)

      Delete
    3. I hope it works out for you, Miss JR! On the off-chance that it doesn't though, I would contact Madewell CS to see if you can at least do an exchange for a different size.

      Delete
    4. I hope mine works, too. Ordered an XS yesterday. When I saw it at the store in SF, they only had an S but no XS for me to compare it to. I didn't get to try on the S because the line at the dressing room was long, I only held it close to my chest to see if an S looked about my size, and it wasn't. Reading the measurements, it looks like an XS will fit me. I'm a 36B...

      Delete
    5. The XS was def. too small for me and I usually don't mind my shirts being a bit tight. I am a bit puzzled. Bottom line is I wouldn't risk this one final sale.

  8. I made a trip to the clearance store in Arden and scored several current items. I picked up another pair of the drapey wool sweatpants in charcoal for $15.00. Got the navy last time and love them. Went down one size from normal. Also got a couple of sweaters and a pair of the Adidas Gazelles in Navy for my "tomboy" look. Go down two sizes in those as the website says. They are super cute and I got a good deal on those as well. Don't think I will be going to the retail store, just nothing going on right now there.

    1. The drapey wool that's full price for $98, you got for $15?! Wow!

      Delete
    2. Yes, I was lucky enough to score both pairs. It's just hit or miss at the clearance store, so it took two different trips to get them both. I have them on today with a shirt that I got over there for $10.00 and the leather monk strap oxfords I got over there for $30.00 last year. Outfit grand total, $55.00. Makes me smile.:) I strongly encourage anyone that can make a trip, do it!

  9. JACs, advise needed -- Has anyone tried the Crepe-Drop Waist Dress ? Can anyone comment on the fit and material or possible an IRL picture?

I have a wedding to attend in December and would like to hear your opinions about the appropriateness wearing this dress in red. Because it is on final sale now, I'm debating whether I should take the risk (wish I had tried it before)...

    Thx~

    1. Hi Elaine - if you want to wait, final sale does go away and become fall sale usually some time in late October up until Christmas (at least, it has in past years). You may also have luck with contacting CS and having them note that you can return if you want to order two sizes to try on to decide, they're usually pretty accommodating about things like that.

    2. To silver_lining, Thx for your advise! Much thanks for uploading the November catalog!

  10. OT: I want to say thank you to Paula for recommending Uniqlo's flannel shirts to me in another post last week. I received mine today and agree that they are really nice. The flannel is on the thin-side but the quality is good, and they are really soft and comfortable to wear. Based on the size charts I bought a medium because of my broad shoulders, and it fits me like the Madewell Tomboy shirt (size small) that I reviewed on my Madewell Simplified blog. I think I could have worn the size small, but it probably would have been too tight at the shoulders, and I also like to allow a little extra room in case it shrinks when laundered. I got mine for $19.90, and hope they will offer that deal again soon. If not, I will purchase another one at the $29.90 that they normally are. Shipping was free and fast, too.

    1. OT again...I also mentioned this in another post- thank you to Alexis for sharing the information about the Target oversized plaid scarf (that is similar to the Zara one for last year, just smaller) on her Instagram earlier this week. I picked mine up at the store yesterday and it is lovely IRL. The colors are really pretty and it's very soft. I also posted a pic of it on my blog today if anyone is interested.

    1. Thanks so much for the preview! I am very excited to see the mohair cardigan. (Wonder what the yarn content is?) I have 3 JC mohair cardigans that are about 8 years old, and they're still going strong. I have been wanting more. And these are a different style. Old were shorter with a crew neck. If these new ones match the quality of the old, I am a very happy girl.

  12. A quick question for all the Downtown Field Jacket owners: how did you find the sizing? I am almost always a 00 or an XXS, but this jacket, due to the waxed cotton the XXS feels really tight in the arms. Does it relax with wear, or should I size up to be comfortable? Advice appreciated!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Go up one, imo. The sleeves get really, really wrinkled when they're too tight. Try it on with a long sleeve chambray shirt or sweater to see if it still fits well and as comfortably as you like. I always try to put on the highest number of layers I think I might to wear and based my decision off that.

      Delete
    2. I agree. It doesn't stretch out, that's for sure! I bought an xs but traded it with another JCA for a s, which works much better.

      Delete
    3. I'm a go-to size Small for most items, and that is what I took for the Downtown Field Jacket. This fits well over a long-sleeved tee or chambray shirt. I considered sizing up so I could do more layering, such as an Excursion Vest underneath, but it looked too bulky overall, and I was left with a Medium sized jacket that looked a little too big. It's kind of stiff when you first wear it - it softens up a little over time, but it does not stretch out. Good luck!
