J.Crew Spring 2015 Collection Looks
"Thanks!" to many of you, including JSR (in this post), who let us know that Style.com posted J.Crew's Spring 2015 Ready-to-Wear Looks for us to check out. Click here to see all 29 looks!
I have to quote JSR (in this post), for this look above: "...Couldn't someone fix the crotch first before taking the picture?? The model looks like she has man parts. I understand the drop crotch style...but this is funny." LOL!!!!
I love this whole look (especially the ivory blazer), very chic!
I have to quote JSR (in this post) again: "...I kind of like the collection... BUT... now the more I look at it, the more it reminds me of Bea Arthur's character-Dorothy on The Golden Girls. Hahaha..Oh no! How she wore those oversized shirts and pants (only because she's tall). :-P" Oh. My. YES!
Is it weird that I kind of *love* this comparison?! It's no secret I adore the Golden Girls, and Dorothy is my absolutely favorite character. Where is my cheesecake!?!
What are your thoughts on the upcoming collection from J.Crew? Any particular items that you are excited about?

I'm tired of the half untucked/half tucked shirt "look" they continue to use. It looked interesting for maybe 1 month. It's been at least two years now they've been using this "perfectly contrived disheveled look". I wince when I see real life bloggers attempting it on their blogs. No, querida, no. Basta!
ReplyDeleteAs for the spring collection, I will need to harness my inner safari meets Crayola look to pull this off.
ha, yes it's always kind of annoyed me that every single shirt they show on the madewell website is done with the partial tuck on the model. and many of the sweaters too.
DeleteTotally agree about the half tuck. Let this trend go!
DeleteAlso, LOL @ "harness my inner safari meets Crayola look to pull this off."
It just dawned on me we could find similar retro pieces of the items above at Goodwill. I think it would be fun to challenge the JCAs to reproduce the above looks by perusing their local second hand shops then come back in a month and post pics of the lookalike outfits. The winner could receive one of those bug pins from a few years ago as a prize.
Deletei was surprised to learn, a few years ago, that the stylists expected the half-tucks to be copied. i was thinking they shot the clothes that way so the waist on the pants or skirt could be seen. imagine that.
DeleteWhat's wrong with the bug pin? ;)
DeleteWhatever happened to the woman wearing the clothing. The clothing for 2015 is wearing the woman. Let's celebrate us rather than hiding us in oversized, shapeless garments. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteThis is so on point! For fall 2014, as well.
Deleteagreed
DeleteAgreement from me as well.
DeleteI do like the color palette, especially all of the blue shades, but the styling leaves a lot to be desired (as usual). I see a few individual pieces that look promising, such as the shirt in look three and pants in the last look, and hopefully there will be more wearable items when the collection comes out next year.
ReplyDeleteI will cancel the subscription to the catalog, as it is a waste of paper.
ReplyDeleteStyling is always over the top on these but I like a lot of the individual pieces. I actually picked out quite a few I'd be interested in. The longer Bermuda style shorts appeal to me, many of the jackets look good, and I like the colors in the collection. I'm intrigued!
ReplyDeleteI like the color palette too but I do hope they mix in a few more brights - would love to see them do minnies in the neon kiwi color. I'm not into the super wide pants at all. The blazer in the last picture looks promising.
ReplyDeleteI loved this the moment I saw it, the beautiful blues, the wide bermuda's, the white/tan combo. I seem to be in the minority here though;-)).
ReplyDeletePinned quite a lot of the looks as well and am really looking forward to the spring roll-out
I also like the looks of this collection, probably because of the lack of florals which I'm currently a bit sick of. I like seeing the model smiling in the last picture.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shoutout, Alexis! I can't wait how this collection translates when it debuts in the Spring.
ReplyDeleteThis is one outfit I really liked from the show: http://www.style.com/slideshows/fashion-shows/spring-2015-ready-to-wear/j-crew/collection/6
As usual, most collection pieces are not offered in petite, so some of these outfits will not work for me. I'm more the line of Sophia Petrillo. Haha.... ;-P
The color palate is on point to what the other American designers are showcasing. I think Pantone dictates the colors designers can use...Yellows and Blues are one of the colors for Spring '15.

I guess another collab with Sophia Webster. Were the shoes designed just for the runway, or will J.Crew sell it again in the Spring?
Thank you for your excellent and humorous comment. You were on fire (had me cracking up!!!) ;)
DeleteI came, I saw, I'm heading back to Ebay! Not sure how to pull off any of these looks with my petite frame. If it wasn't for a few pieces from 2008 that I'm still lusting after I may have quit drinking the 'crewlade a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteI love that green dress!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure who these clothes are supposed to be flattering on?? Terrible proportions-can you make my long waist any longer--I didn't think it possible! Voluminous and shapeless doesn't translate to real life--apparently, not to the catwalk either. I mostly dislike.
ReplyDeleteI actually like the looks but not the color combinations, in particular the khaki jacket with the periwinkle pants, bleah!
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to J. Crew????? I'm so sad.
