J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

    1. I bit on the La Suberb sweatshirt and its now sold out. Its Sezane, who I love (but there was nothing else from the collection that I *had* to have. I like the crop trousers a lot, but I'm disappointed that they are 1/2 polyester). I don't really need anything else, but I like the cityblock turtleneck sweater

  4. A few Factory reviews (posted on my IG as well - tayloradaly - over the weekend). For reference I am 5'7", 138 lbs., & normally wear a 6/8 or medium:

The draped v-neck sweater - I sized down to a small in this which was the right thing to do. It fits just like one of the Crew's boyfriend sweaters so if you like that silhouette you'll love this sweater. It is SUPER-soft. The vee is deep but not obscene. Sleeve length is a teensy bit short for my preference but not to the point it looks goofy. This is a great cozy sweater. I purchased the "heather acorn" colorway & it is exactly as it appears online - a great camel shade.

The patch-pocket sweater - also sized down in this one. Hits a little below hip, not quite a tunic-length. Sleeve length is perfect for my liking. I bought the "red currant" colorway & it's a great red-toned burgundy. Also very soft. It's more fitted in the body for me just because I did size down so if you want it more loose, I'd stick with your regular size.

The draped henley tunic - I bought this one last year in a medium so I knew I'd need to size down to a small for this year's version. It fits much better - not too long for a tunic; it's not overwhelming. I bought the "burgundy" colorway & it is definitely how it appears online - more of a plum which is what I was hoping for anyway. It gapes slightly if I have it all the way buttoned up but most likely I'll wear it unbuttoned with a tank underneath or a scarf over it so it's a non-issue.

Three great buys from the new arrival section!

  6. Reviews of the collection harper calf hair flats and the toggle on my blog ebelandi.com
Love the flats but the prints do not match exactly; toggle coat is pretty much same as last year's but with a thicker wool and tall sizes are offered

  7. slightly OT:

the sizing has been throwing me off lately... i bought some pants from factory (skinny jeans and long and lean cords) and i bought them both in my usual 26. the skinny jeans wound up being too big, but the cords were too small... which makes no sense. i'm actually hitting up the factory store next week so i'm going to exchange stuff then so i can try everything on in case this was a sizing fluke... but anyone else having these problems?

    2. Miss JR - the fit on the Factory cords both last year and this year is totally off for me. I've been wearing J Crew cords for years and years. The bootcut cords from Factory just did not fit correctly last year and this year's version is even more awful. The Factory version of the matchstick cord worked out OK for me but I had to order a second pair because the first pair was ill fitting. It doesn't help that they don't carry anything but toothpick cords at my Factory store so I have to order. Sorry for venting but I hate it when they mess with the basics.

  8. Collection Noir Floral Pant

(I copied and pasted my review of these pants online.)

Even though these are not offered in Petite, I figured I would give it a try. Ordered a size 0. The material is soft silk, and not stiff. The color is more cream than how its photographed white online. I didn't realize that there are zippers inner ankles, so that is a problem If I were to hem it. The proportions are off (For reference I am 5'0, 106lbs). The fit on me is baggy, so big that I could pull the pants past my belly button. These pants would fit ladies 5'4 and up, more so than petites, like me.

Back it goes to the mothership.

  9. Recently got the Factory "Cropped Tweed Blazer" in CRIMSON MAPLE TWEED. Fit is TTS. It has more of a shrunken fit and looks very professional. The colors in the tweed are just fabulous. I was happily surprised to find that both navy and black were among the colors in the tweed as I think that adds good versatility. I also liked the hit of metallic and pop of red in the tweed. I wore it recently with a black shell and grey pants. I think I'll wear it for years to come.

  10. Saw some of the new arrivals, was looking forward to that chunky turtle neck but when I unfolded it, it was cropped, so I didn't bother trying it on. Instead I got another chunky sweater in white- maybe it's a ballet cut- with 3/4 cuffed sleeves, I already wore it out last night. I also walked away with three pieces of jewelry- a think gold bangle with these unique squeeze fastener and this other bangle with the matching ring. All 25% off. So that was good!

  11. I have the new catalog and have seen some of the new arrivals. The store still looks blah to me and I wasn't totally thrilled with the new catalog as a whole. When I flipped through, everything just looked the same to me. I think that is the problem for me, too many similar things in the same color. How many gray or navy, basic color, etc. tops can I own? I want some prints and not black and cream. I was taught in school that black and white are not even colors. Give me color and prints with color. It looks like there may be some color (red) for holiday. I don't need a closet full of red just for the month of December. I am not exactly sure what I want, but right now I don't see it like years past.

  14. Review for the Factory Skimmer Pant in Tuxedo Stripe: For reference I'm 5'2", 115-117 lbs, normally wear size 0/ XS.
I bought these pants in 0 since I had the Piped Andie Chino in 0 and it fits great. These pants feel a little smaller and less stretchy to me, esp in the waist. I need it to be a teeny bit bigger, or hit at a higher position on my waist. After wearing for a few hours, it seems more comfortable but probably would not after a full big meal. I suspect that sizing up to a 2 would be too big though. The fit is similar to the Andie chino. Size 0 regular hits right at my ankle.
