ReplyDeleteCan any of you shed some light on Boden? How does the sizing compare to J. Crew. I am lusting after so much in their catalogs, but haven't made a purchase because I am so unsure about their sizing. My only experience with Boden was baby clothing when my son was teenier. Super cute, but even the sizing on those items didn't seem to match American brands. Much thanks!
ReplyDeleteBoden lists actual garment measurements for each and every garment, so no guesswork is involved! (they're under the measurements tab on each item page). I've found the measurements are always very accurate. I just compare with something similar that I know fits me well.
DeleteThat said as a British company, Boden isn't vanity sized like US brands. I take a sz. 2 in brands like J Crew or Loft/Ann Taylor but always need at least a sz. 4 in Boden.
On Boden's US site, they say sizes are listed in American sizing, but I still size up to the"US" size 4. (make sure you are on the US version of the site, because British sizing is diffrent. In UK sizing I need a sz. UK 8!)
Agree with egyptomaniac - size up in Boden. In JCrew I take a size 4 (6p in pants) and in Boden I am a 6. In fact, today I am wearing a Boden dress and jacket. And I wore another Boden dress on Monday. Of late, have been finding Boden's clothes more interesting than JCrew's.

DeleteThe only place I ever size down is in their shoes, which can run wide and long. Unfortunately I can never tell which shoes are going to run wide and long, so my return/exchange rate on those is fairly high.
