J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, as did the J.Crew Collection (click here).

The OCTOBER catalog (click here to view) is still up. However, the latest NOVEMBER catalog is not. As mentioned by several JCAs, J.Crew posted several images of the newest catalog over at Pinterest (click here to view).

As for the new arrivals... I am excited for this roll-out. Finally! There are so many items on my "want-list" this time around. Here are just a few...

The Buffalo check flannel shirt-jacket (item B4937; $118.00) is beautiful. Hoping it is as nice in person.

The Cambridge cable chunky turtleneck sweater (item B5281; $98.00) is what J.Crew is all about! The range of colors... gorgeous!!!

The Cece ballet flats (item 64408; $125.00) are back in both leather and in suede. I am thrilled over this!!!

The Chateau parka (item B3901; $365.00) is one of the most stunning coats I have seen from J.Crew. I love the hood with faux fur lining.

The Downing tote (item A4399; $168.00) in Cocoa is perfect for Fall. I love it!

The Majesty peacoat (item 49360; $298.00) now comes in more vivid hues. Amazing!

The Plaid tassel scarf (item B6447; $59.50) is the perfect accessory for this Winter. Another love for me!

Overall impression... Welcome back J.Crew, oh how I have missed you!!! :)

Don't forget! J.Crew is offering customers to take an extra 25% off select full priced items and an extra 30% off all Sale items (with some marked as an additional 50% off) with promo code TGIFALL. The offer expires October 26, 2014.

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. oh my gosh, the new colors of the STADIUM-CLOTH COCOON COAT and DOUBLE-CLOTH PATCH-POCKET COCOON COAT are AMAZING. those heathered shades! the neons! I am obsessed ... and very sad that most of them will probably sell out before they hit sale. which is the only way I can fit j. crew into my budget. curses!

    1. ... and, it looks like in the half-hour since I posted my original comment, the colors heather aubergine, heather tigerlily, heather graphite, and heather twilight are already mostly sold out. jeez!

      Delete
    2. What coat came in heather aubergine? I'm a sucker for anything in purple but I can't seem to find it on the website. Sold out already?

      Delete
    3. The Stadium-cloth Cocoon came in heather aubergine. It was part of the September? roll-out, I think. Actually, a lot of the sold out colors are from an earlier roll-out. That's when I got the coat in hthr twilight.
The only colors that look new to me this roll-out are the neon coral, hthr dusk and maybe the navy.

    4. it was the new STADIUM-CLOTH COCOON COAT, item b2770. heather aubergine was the first color listed on the far left of all the shades, before neon electric flame. must be totally sold out now ... boo!

  3. Many items that I'm coveting! I literally just posted on my blog yesterday about the metallic Cece's being no longer available....I LOVE these shoes, and red screams holiday to me!

  4. I typed a huge comment and now it's gone, dang it.

I can't reproduce all my stream of consciousness thoughts as I scrolled through the new arrivals. I do recall loving the cut out Italian wool suiting dress. That might need to be in my closet. The midi skirt looks good but the wool is too heavy for my climate.

  5. I love so much from this roll-out! Some of my favorites are everything in the collection jacquard floral, the Cambridge turtleneck knit sweater, the faux fur hooded parka, the pop art roses, the exploded roses, and the Donald Robertson tees! My wallet is in trouble!

  6. The outerwear looks beautiful! I did have to laugh at the "Collection Pull-on Pants". They remind me of those pants you can order out of the advertising circular in your Sunday papers where you get coupons for shampoo and dog food. I really hope the pleated wide leg cropped pants don't become a huge fashion statement. Who are those flattering on? Those items are definitely questionable IMO, lol!

  7. Oh boy, that new Collection section is just ripe for parody! I'll let Drunk J.Crew handle that one.

At first glance I like the end-on-end long shirt, Reids in macaye wash (they remind me of the destructed toothpicks that just did not work for me), the suede shearling scuffs, and the wool pointelle cable sweater in heather lichen. Sadly, the only thing I really want to see IRL is the $900 red Woolrich parka. Somebody just tell me it's neon/orange/too thin/ugly IRL so that I can move on. ;)

A few of the other things I liked in the catalog I changed my mind on once seeing the rollout: the painted stripe sweatshirt (why do you have zippers on the sides?) and the seamed military pants (why are you capri length?), as well as anything with a dropped shoulder (go away) or wool/viscose/nylon blend (pill city).

As always, looking forward to JCA opinions/reviews/IRL pics. I've come to enjoy them more than the rollouts!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I crossed the seamed military pants off my list for the same reason. Cropped pants? Now? No thanks. :/

      Delete
    2. The cropped length is what makes the pants "military." It's so that you can get your combat boots on without worrying about stuffing the bottom of your pants leg into the boot and having it come out again while you are bending over to work on the laces.

I'm still recovering from the "military Pixie pants" of a few years back. Shoulders back, Tinkerbell!

    3. Thanks, Fred! Funny that the all-knowing CFS didn't mention that.

  8. Ema, I saw the skinny wool pinstripe pants that you posted on your IG. I can't find them on-line. Do you see them? I thought the whole outfit with the pinstripe sweatshirt looked terrific on you.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. They are the pinstripe pants in Japanese wool. Apparently not new in this rollout but I had never seen them in store.

      Delete
    2. Thanks, Ema. I was considering ordering those at the last roll-out, but changed my mind after I read the negative reviews. What did you think of them? They looked good on you in the IG pic.

      Delete
    3. I understand where the negative reviews come from, they need a bit of styling to look at their best. If you try them on without shoes or with flats, they are probably not going to wow you and you could feel a bit like you are wearing pajama pants as they do fit somewhat like thick leggings from the thighs down. They need heels or at least a sharp pair of shoes (oxford or Chelsea boots).
I bought them mainly because I like the masculine look of the pinstripes but find the style feminine and they make my legs (and in particular my calves) look really thin. Plus I adored them with the endless shirt (again a borrowed from the boys look but balanced by a pair of heels)

      Delete
    4. Thanks, Ema. Your styling tips are great.
BTW, loved the Zara skirt and peplum top. You looked terrific. Hope you had a fun evening.

    5. Thank you maryeb, I really loved that outfit too. Sometimes you don't need to spend a lot to feel great...

    1. I don't recommend JC for wool pants--they are unlined and thus itchy and not warm enough for winter. Try Ann Taylor tropical wool suiting pants or Banana Republic lightweight wool trousers. All lined and good for 3 season wear.

  10. Leather Panel Dress...PERFECTION! I bought it in store over the weekend and wearing today. Absolutely love it. Great length, super comfie fabric and a real statement piece. This item has not been talked about much but y'all should check it out!!

    1. I was just looking at this dress. How is the sizing?

      Delete
    2. The leather panel dress looks like a real winner. Of all the items in the new rollout, the dresses were the most appealing to me, including this one. The dolman double serge (although the colors could be better) and the Collection pink perforated wool dress (now virtually sold out) are also lovely I think.

      Where are the jackets????

      Delete
    3. maryeb The Leather Panel dress is true to size, I think. The fabric is clingy but hugs curves the right way, if you know what I mean. I got SO many compliments today when I wore it to a work event. Try it. My guess is, you'll like it. And, agree with cousy -- finally J.Crew is listening regarding dresses. Appropriate lengths that work for many body types. I never buy JC dresses but bought several in the last few weeks.

    4. Thanks, Annegav!! I need a petite and the store nearest me doesn't carry petites. I was debating about ordering two sizes, something I really hate doing.

  11. Lots to love in this roll out - such a nice change.

But can I just mention the Collection Abstract Mohair Sweater? My thought on this sweater is this - bwahahahahahahahahaha. Talk about fugly.

Am eager to for your review on the Stovepipes. They look very promising.

WTF about all the baggy crotch pants? Super ugly.

  14. Another good but hidden element in these new arrivals: some of the shoes from recent rollouts have some new color offerings. I really like the Rhapsody blue shade in the Harpers and the Dulci heels.

And the Collection images are unintentionally hilarious. Looks like a middle schooler was in charge of that shoot.

  15. Planning on stopping by my local store tonight to see some of the new arrivals IRL. But did place an order this am, noticed that they introduced a Tippi in Burgundy which is a sweater color I have been looking for this season. Since an SA mentioned that this is an item that maybe not stocked in store and it is free shipping. Also took a chance on the Origami bracelet, I have liked the look of this for ages but never seen it IRL but at $17 not too much of a FS gamble.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Has anyone tried the oversized stripe long-sleeve tee? There was a similar offering last year but the sleeves were a bit tight. Hoping they kept the same thicker (warmer!) fabric but tweaked the fit this time around.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I couldn't sleep last night because I was scrolling thought the new arrivals online! I'm in love with almost all the costs. I've resisted getting an excursion vest but that lovely winter pink color is calling my name. So are the sweaters in camel. I'm unimpressed by the pants and knits&tees, but besides that, I think there's lots to love here!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I immediately fell in love with the chateau parka when my VPS sent me images over the weekend and was elated to see that it comes in petite sizing! At 25% off I had to pull the trigger this morning. Hope to write up a review of it soon.

  19. There are some stuff I am liking from this roll-out.

I am a little disappointed that most of the new coats is not offered in petite. :(

-Roll sleeve sweater in heather orchid
    -Exploded Floral Tee
-Stadium cloth cocoon coat in heather dusk
-A-line skirt in bonded wool (how is the texture like in this bonded wool, is it different from the No.2 Serge wool?) I've been wanting a black pencil skirt that's a little longer than the No.2 wool.
-Downing bucket bag - LOVE....I am ordering this in cobblestone. Since I can't afford a Mansur Gavriel bucket bag, this will do. I wish it came in black or in other fun colors. So happy that the bag is included in the promo!

I thought I would love the the buffalo check shirt-jacket...now that i look at it more online, I am starting to not like it anymore. I'd have to see it in the store to try on.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. oh and to add, I also like the Seamed military pant. I just hope the sizing works out and the length. Then again looking online at the model's photo from behind, the pants is making her behind look rather sad. hehe..

    1. Cate - Its a pretty coat...Too bad its not offered in petite.

Have you worn your blue cocoon coat already? Thinking of getting the just released heather dusk color. I asked CS if I can get the 25% applied.

      Delete
    2. Thanks JSR! I haven't worn the blue cocoon, I am still on the fence. I wish the patch pocket cocoon came in that blue color, then it would be an easy decision.

  21. I actually found some things to buy from this roll out too. I am still turned off by the really masculine looking stuff, but ordered the swing coat, the double serge wool dress and the exploding floral tee to try. All items that still look feminine. :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. I stopped by a store on my lunch break to do a return. The in-store promo is 25% off all FP items. The sales associate said she thought it ran until 10/30. Sale items were 40% off, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  23. A few observations/opinions:

The mohair cardigan is really itchy. I tried it on over short-sleeves and it made my lower arms itch like crazy. Too bad because the colors are nice and so is the weight.

The merino wool pointelle cable sweater was a nice surprise. It looks like it will be a heavy sweater, but it's not. Nice feel and fit.

The wool boucle sweater was very oversized and very drop-shouldered. It was shapeless. I wanted this to work because I'm in love with that green color, but it just didn't look good on me. If you try it, definitely go down at least one size.

Painted stripe sweatshirt. I didn't try it on, but the stripes on front feel heavy.

Seamed panel tee. This did nothing for me.

Cheetah tee, super cute and the fabric feels much nicer than J. Crew's tees normally do.

    1. Thanks, Cate! Was the Merino wool pointelle cable sweater tts? Any thoughts on the colors? Thanks again.
I just got the lambswool pointelle sweater and went down a size.

      Delete
    2. Yes it was TTS. I could have worn my regular size or gone down a size in it, though. It would depend on how you want it to fit you. I preferred my regular size in it, for some extra slouch/room. The size down still fit but it was more fitted and slightly shorter. The colors are nice. The lavender has some blue flecks in it (looked good with denim). The hthr lichen color was interesting. It is a deeper color with some variation in it (not washed out). The snow color is your typical off-white (never does anything for me, personally) and the navy is what you'd expect, just navy without color variations in it.

      Delete
    3. Thanks Cate for the info. I will take a look at it tonight if available in my store. I am loving that lavender color, I loved it in the Boiled Wool and Lambswool sweaters but did not like the look of the sweaters.

      Delete
    4. Thanks, Cate. I'm intrigued by the hthr lichen color. Although it's probably not a good color for me. I really liked how it's styled in the catalogue.

      Delete
    5. maryeb, I feel like the lichen needs some contrast. The aqua scarf in the catalog looks great with it, but not sure if I like it with the light green military pants. I'd probably wear it with lighter denim and maybe a gray or aqua tee under it. Could use ideas, though, if anyone has any.

      Delete
    6. I'm suffering through the mohair cardigan, only because the heather jade color is so lovely. I don't think that the website does it justice. In the store, they had it paired with a l/s plain white boy shirt. Maybe that's the answer?

      Delete
    7. Oooh, but that girl on the website wearing the purple one with what looks like nothing on underneath...it makes me all itchy just looking at her!

      Delete
    8. Did stop by and made 2 purchases from this rollout. The pointelle cable in Lavender and the industrial cuff bracelet. I loved the sweater, the.detail is perfect in the knit and sizewise, I did size down to XXS. I tried on the XS and did not like the look. I am only 5'1" for reference. I did not find it itchy at all and do not plan on wearing a tee underneath, even though it is a wee bit see thru in the cable area in the front. I saw the bracelet styled in an email I received and loved it more IRL. One of the SA was trying on the Chateau Parka, it is absolutely stunning. The color grey is lighter than my Majesty and the wool felt softer, if I needed a coat this would be my choice. Perfect length and great to dress up or down. The fur hood is not really my thing but when the SA put the hood up it really completed the look. The store did not have the buffalo check jacket but not my style. One of the SA said that people were saying that the mohair is itchy and the boucle sweater was way too big but the color green to die for.

      Delete
    9. I should clarify as I reread my post, the sweater is good lengthwise in body and sleeves, not too tight in the arms. But the over sized look is not good for me, so that's why I sized down.

      Delete
    10. Thanks for the tip on sizing for the sweater. I love the detail on this sweater. I wish it came in more colors.
Are you talking about the Industrial Bar Cuff? How was the cuff styled in the email? I'm really intrigued by this piece but not sure what to wear it with. Thanks again!

      Delete
    11. Maryeb, yes that is the bracelet. The email was from net-a-porter, they had the model wearing a simple grey turtleneck, sleeves 3/4 length, black pants and black loafers. On that site it is called cubic zircona cuff, you maybe able to google it. I tried it over a sweater and bare skin and liked both. I think with a Tippi it would be perfect. It is a minimalist look, very clean and light looking, despite the name. I think a lot of the new jewelry is like that. HTH

      Delete
    12. Also, the matching ring is lovely but it is a double ring and when I tried it on my short fingers I could not bend the finger :)

    14. Thanks, JRS!! The Tippi popped into my head when I saw the cuff. Good excuse to buy more Tippis. I was also wondering if it would work over a long sleeve tee or sweater. I'm definitely going to give it a try.

  24. I went the the store during lunch...
Tried on many new sweaters... and I only got one.
    1) chunky turtleneck- itchy and short. I tried on my normal size xs and the drop shoulder and the shortness of the sweater did not look good on me.
2)wool boucle sweater- so itchy and oversized- tried on both xxs and xs and both looked horrible. drop shoulder did not drape well..I could never wear it b/c it's too itchy
    3) Boiled Wool sweatshirt- this has been talked about a lot and this was the only sweater I got. I tried on xxs, xs and small. I ended up with xs- my normal size. xxs but to short and tight at the bottom. Small was big and I liked the oversized fit of it but SA and other ladies in the dressing room thought xs was best. Looking at the pics I took of xs and small.. i think i made the right choice with xs. I got the heather cloud. Navy was just too dark and didn't feel special. Lavendar is pretty but that color does nothing for me.
    4) High-low crewneck- tried it on in my normal xs and i like the fit but the drop shoulder again fail on me.. it was bulging out and did not look good.

Hope this help others. I wanted to try so many coats.. but my store did not get any coats in. Would love hear others about the coats they have tried on.

  25. I caved and ordered the Collection Stripe Satin Pants. Hoping they fit, drape well and don't completely wrinkle. I have a lot of navy so these could be just the thing for holiday. A major splurge, but since I have shoes, tops, etc...I thought I'd give them a try. Would love to see the leather panel dress and the cutout dress though I don't really have a need/justification for either. Otherwise, the rollout was kind of meh for me, though there is some new jewelry on my radar to check out in store.

  26. Can anyone review the Cambridge cable chunky turtleneck sweater (b5281)? It says "relaxed fit".....does that mean order down? How does it compare in fit to the Tippi sweater? Also is it itchy or too sheer or too big in the body with tight arms??? Any comments are appreciated! TIA!

    1. I got the measurements for the xs (my usual size) and the xxs.
      xs - length 23.5", shoulder 13", chest 32", sleeve length 30.25"
      xxs - length 23", shoulder 12.5", chest 30", sleeve length 29.5"
Based on this, I'll probably order my usual size. But I've never tried this sweater before. HTH

  27. I tried on the Buffalo check flannel shirt-jacket, and it is awesome. Super, super cute. The front zipper goes pretty low and the thick fabric is great, so it really can be worn as an outer layer. I usually take a S or M in sweaters and always a 6 in shirts, and the Medium fit perfectly. I'm going back tomorrow to buy it from my regular VPS at my regular store. Also, the quilted surf jacket was the one I was raving about yesterday. That runs a bit big and I felt like I had more than enough room in the S. Also tried on the sparkle side-slit sweater (also comes "un" sparkle-y), but it is SO short, and the side slit went up as high as the bottom of my ribcage. What am I supposed to do with THAT?! ;)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think I'm going to order the buffalo check flannel shirt-jacket to try. Thanks for the sizing help with it!

I didn't understand that very high side slit on the sparkle side-slit sweater either. I guess you could wear a silk cami under it?

      Delete
    2. I tried it too and it was really boxy on me too in my regular size. Not flattering at all, not to mention the problem with the slits. Not sure why they did that...

      Delete
    3. Gina, can you tell me more about the fabric and the length of the buffalo shirt jacket? Is it quilted? Stiff? How long is it? I have a long torso and often find JCrew button downs too short on me. Thanks in advance!

      Delete
    4. The fabric was much thicker than other J Crew flannel shirts but was still nice and soft. I'm almost 5'10" and find that a lot of sweaters/shirts are far too short for me (for example, the merino wool mixed media sweater with the floral print on top? crazy short), but this was perfect. As I recall (and I probably didn't pay closer attention because I put it on and immediately said, "Yep!") it was a tiny bit shorter on me than on the model, but I definitely think you should give it a shot. I think it would be perfect as a regular shirt, or over a tee, or even with a contrasting collared shirt underneath. It's a keeper.

      Delete
    5. One more comparison...
The boyfriend flannel shirt in bluegrass is a heavy flannel, and irl, sort of has that "brushed flannel" look (does that make sense?). The buffalo check shirt-jacket is heavier than that, but has a cleaner look to it, like the fabric isn't as worn in or "flannel-y". I've just confused matters, haven't I?!

      Delete
    6. Is the buffalo check shirt jacket's material scratchy or smooth? Thanks for all the help!

      Delete
    7. Gina, thank you! I'm 5'9" and I'm also "shorted out" vs sized out of many of the shirts and sweaters. I'm usually around a size 10, so might have to try medium and large. Thanks a bunch!

      Delete
    8. Cate, I don't feel like it's scratchy at all, but it's also not "smooth." More smooth-ish than not, perhaps? I feel like it's a nice, sturdy weight.

  31. The Chateau Parka is gorgeous. I really like the lighter colors, but worry they would get really dirty with all the snow. The buffalo shirt jacket is still on my radar even though it's a popover. Hoping someone will review it and post IRL pics soon. Love all the colors of the cambridge cable cardigan and cambridge cable chunky turtleneck, too.

    1. I agree. The lighter colors for outerwear are very fresh looking, but I know in reality, they'd start looking dirty and drab quickly if they were worn a lot. Maybe for a dressier coat you don't wear often? But then in that case, I'd really hate to spend so much money for something I can't use and wear regularly.

  36. So, that leather panel dress is gorgeous!! I have absolutely no need for it in my wardrobe, though. Is it only a work dress? I don't work. Where else would one wear a dress like that?? It looks so timeless to me.

    1. Jruby18 You are so right about the Leather Panel Dress. Gorgeous and timeless. Yes, it can be work appropriate but as I mentioned in the review of the item posted online at JC site, you could absolutely make this a fabulous cocktail party or going-out dress with some fancy heels and a statement necklace. I anticipate having (and wearing) this dress in my closet for a long, long time. Suggest you order and try.

  37. Stopped into the B&M today. I think they were still putting out some of the new items, it was kind of hard to tell what was new.

Chateau parka (b3901) - Cute. Definitely A-line in shape, I tried my usual 4 and it was a little like a bell but not in a bad way. I wouldn't size down because it would probably be too tight in the shoulders. I don't think it will be warm enough if my winter involves another polar vortex. The warmest JC coat I have to date is the 2009 wool duffle with Thinsulate. (Maybe we can do another coat-specific post sometime, Alexis?)

Merino wool pointelle cable sweater (b5916) - My store was almost out of the heather lichen ones, so I tried the ivory for size. My usual S fit fine, a teeny bit boxy but again, I wouldn't size down. Something about these boxy sweaters with the slits on the sides I don't love - it feels like I'm drawing attention to a problem area. The pointelle down the front is a little see through.

High-low crewneck sweater (b6192) - TTS. Dropped shoulders are so unflattering, I can't even. Plus, the way that they're constructed, the dropped seam kind of juts out a bit (you know how you get little peaks on a sweater if it's been on a hanger? Kind of like that). Plus, the blend felt very much like my beloved JCF open cardigan that didn't make it a month.

Side-zip stripe tee (b1468) - I thought this was a different one when I brought it into the fitting room. Basic. TTS. I'm not into zippers on tops so it wasn't for me, but the heft of the fabric was nice. Dropped shoulders, go to hell.

Saw but didn't try on the painted stripe sweatshirt (b7180) - white stripes have a plastic-y feel to them (I wonder if they'd crack when washed), pieced pinstripe sweatshirt (b5704) - I didn't realize this one had an exposed zip in the back.

Oh! They improved on the suede shearling scuffs (b4051) by adding a rubber sole. I wear these all winter and previous versions would wear right the sole. These I could wear outside if I was so inclined. ;)

    1. You're spot on about the painted stripe sweatshirt. Very plastic-y!

    2. Thanks for the reviews! I ordered the Chateau parka to try. I didn't know it was A-line or bell-shaped, not sure if I'll like that. I have a feeling the shape isn't going to be what I'm looking for.

I wonder why they are adding zippers to so many sweaters and tops this year. Zippers usually mean extra production expense, right? But they're putting them on clothes that don't need zippers (at the hem vents, at the shoulders, in the back of tops that could pull over your head without an opening). They can't be that much out of design ideas, I hope.

  38. So happy with this rollout. I haven't gotten this excited over new arrivals for a while and I'm so happy to see all the pretty clothes. Lots of things on my wishlist :)
