"Thanks!" to  many of you, including TeriLynn13 & rcb.shops (in this post), who shared the following email/promotion from J.Crew.

J.Crew is offering customers to take an additional 25% select full priced items, as well as an additional 30% off SELECT Sale styles with promo code STYLETIME. This offer expires October 5, 2014. They are also including free shipping for all orders made today. The fine print includes:

I think J.Crew's use of puppies in the subject line of the email was funny. However, I do think they are running out of promotional ideas to get customers to buy. (Remember when they rarely did a percentage off full priced items?)

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Any items you are excited to get? Please share!

  1. Nope, not interested in any of the new arrivals right now. My opinion is that the (final) sale items should be at least 40% off. Seriously. The sale section gets bigger and bigger every time I look.

    1. Agreed. Astonishing that they have 53 styles of shorts on final sale.

  2. Love that they are offering free shipping on all orders. There are actually several items that I'm interested in, however, I picked up several things during Madewell's last sale, so I've pretty much exhausted my budget at this point. I did share my personal picks for the sale on my blog today though, and included links to irl pics from myself and other bloggers, as well. See that post here..

    1. Btw, if anyone has posted pics or a review of the items in my post, and I happen to have missed them, please email me with your link, and I will gladly add it to the post.

  3. I think I might jump on the Andie cords in the teal colorway. My only question is - tall or regular length? Since they're cords I might go for the tall; the skinny leg would look cute cuffed with booties.

    1. Taylor - I would go for the tall length. I think your idea of wearing them cuffed with booties sounds really cute. Last year I ordered the matchstick cords in regular length and the hem ended up being at my ankles. If I were to order any of the cords again this year, I would get them in the tall size.

    2. Thanks for the input Melissa! I have a few pairs of the Andie chinos - all in regular length - that I love but not sure how I can wear them through the cold temps. I am 5'7" so the 28" inseam will be a tad short in the cords.

    3. You might have to place your order over the phone or place the order online and then email to have the code applied. As of 10 this morning the code was not working on tall items.

    4. Thanks for the tip, st! Tall-haters. ;)

    5. I might try the Andie cords too - I've been waiting for them to go on sale. Was disappointed to see that the Double Cloth Collarless Coat was excluded (and wasn't in the coats promo from earlier in the week either) so I'll continue to wait on that one.

  4. If any of you are in the market for a gray sweatshirt, J Crew is your spot this season. They are offering over 20 styles at the moment. Yowser.

  5. I ordered the black perforated monk strap loafers since they only had two in stock in 5H. I have been stalking this for a month, and I am glad to have purchased it with the promo!

  6. Extra 40% off sale in store. Michigan Ave in Chicago was packed. Finally got the heart sleeveless silk shirt for $30 after discount. Oh, and another swing sweater (shocking for those that follow me on IG!).

    1. rcb.shops - did they do new markdowns at the Mich. Ave. store? That's a great price for the heart shirt. I'm trying to decide if I should take a walk over there . . .

    2. @shopalot. I couldn't tell because it's been awhile since I have been there and second markdowns were not tagged properly. I was shocked when the blouse rang up at $49.99 pre discount. Who knows what other markdowns were lurking. It was stocked though -- shoes, jewelry. May be worth the walk.

    3. That store is particularly awful with the markdowns; it's always a big surprise when you get to the register. Thank you so much for the info. Think I will make the trip before it starts raining again! :)

  7. The 25% off is in the store too for full-price Women's.

  8. Why the !@#! is the Regent blazer never included in these promotions? I finally found a JCrew blazer that fits me, and the sale codes never work on it!

    1. It's included in store. Very frustrating for sure, but maybe you can call a store?

    2. Gauss, it's definitely included in store. I bought the camel one in store a few promos ago and had my VPS order the black one because it wasn't in my store with the promo

    3. Thank you both! I'll try the local store tomorrow.

  10. Nothing like free shipping to lure me in.

Picked up the cotton cable knit crewneck in navy #08168. Saw in GQ that I needed a cable knit, at least that's what the magazine's editors say. And you know I'm good at listening to those editors.

  11. *ring the alarm*

EXTREME popbacks this morning - women's section over 3,000 items. Some stuff from as far back as 2009. Have fun, and be careful with the sale goggles!

    1. YES! I got the blah blah blah shirt and Field Boots in cobblestone! Happy!

    2. I snagged some New Balance for both my kids! Crazy amount of stuff-48 bags in sale section?!

    3. Over 1000 items in Madewell's sale section this am, too. Fall cleaning, maybe? No extra % off, but free ship as usual.

    4. Wow! You have sale items that already have their knock offs at the Factory on sale. I also think I spied a tissue ruffle tee that goes way back.

    5. I bit on a few popbacks - Collection snake print blouse and the charcoal grey leather tuxedo stripe Pixie pants ($35, yay!) Funny though even with all of the "extreme popbacks" how high some of the prices are...you'd think if the stuff is lurking around it would at least be priced as if it's several years old...I guess not. Tried to keep my sale goggles to a minimum on this one - almost bit on the calf hair Biellas but even with the sale I can find them cheaper on eBay. Now to see if it all ships...

    6. I got cartjacked on the leather-tipped bell skirt in beige, size 2 from 2011. Sooooo sad.

    7. Thanks for the heads up this morning! I bit on a couple of things that I am a bit unsure about as I've never seen them in person, and which of course may not even ship. Playing J. Crew Sale Croulette! lol

    8. Darn, already down to 2400ish items!! Missed out looking for some fun oldies, not that I'm really looking for anything.

    9. Grabbed one popback. Bus it's an oldie.

Curious as to where they all come from. I mean, that's a lot of old stuff in there for it to be a random misplaced item in a warehouse. No?

  12. There are some old school pop backs that aren't showing up in their respective categories. For instance, the edie purse in pecan (item 44804), the tricolor edie (item 32632) and the mini edie in black (item 86724) are in stock but aren't showing up in bags.

  13. I saw the puppies signs in-store before seeing the email. My first thought was that J. Crew was going to be sponsoring an animal adoption drive over the weekend. I definitely looked closer at the sign to see what it had to say. The merchandise overall is sad. It's one thing to do a style departure and take the brand in another direction, but something is very off. If you're going to do a different style, at least do it very well. The clothes look the same as the ones offered in H&M. The bow t-shirt is like turning in your homework late and putting it in a pretty folder to make it look better.

Visit this post for my breakdown on the wool pinstripe coat.

  14. I'm really interested in dressy sweaters to wear with trousers. Do you think J Crew will roll out some for the winter season? The ones I am seeing are from spring (IE silk panel front.) TIA!

  15. Off topic, but can someone help me with the fit of the Viv calf hair flat? They are not online and I am searching ebay. The website says to order a half size larger. Any thoughts?

    1. Hi Sara Lee. I sized up half a size on the mirror metallic Vivs, reviewed here. Some designers/retailers, i.e. Kate Spade, Ivanka Trump & Ann Taylor, have pointy shoes that narrow more after your toes end so you don't have to size up. The Viv narrowers sooner, so unless you have a narrow foot you are likely to be more comfortable in the higher size.

    2. This is my favorite shoe in my closet. Go up a half size for sure!

      Delete
    3. I have them and normally wear size 8. I take 8.5 in all Vivs including calf hair. Got them last year and love them.

    4. Greetings Sara Lee - I concur with the website advice and the other reviewers. I'm a Size 10 in just about every shoe I've ever owned as an adult. Viv 10's are too small, but the 10.5 is just right. I also have to size up 1/2 size in Martina's. I got the Viv's in Calf Hair on some crazy popback last winter, and they are gorgeous. Good luck! Jennifer
