  1. My dearest J. Crew -

Despite all that has come between us of late, I do want to preserve our enduring and valued friendship. I want to regain our trust and mutual affection.

To that end, I'd like to focus on the things you're doing right, even during this exceptionally challenging season. I have always appreciated your superb sense of color, the thoughtful mixing of materials or styles, the elevated basics and perhaps my favorite, the opportunity to invest in something special.

So in the name of encouragement, here are some super items from this fall:

    Color:
    #2 pencil in chartreuse
    cocoon coat in heather twilight

    Mixed media:
    boiled wool/puffer zipped sweater
    pinstriped Vans
    denim trench coat

    Elevated basics:
    Dulci calf hair heels
    Andie cords in bluegrass

    Something special:
    silk paisley shirtdress
    boucle dress

All will be forgiven (okay, maybe not the Roxie pumps or the fashion victim T shirts) if we can appreciate each other's strengths - you for your unique and compelling style, and me for my wallet. And my hope for our continued relationship reflect the sartorial future for my teenaged daughters as well.

    With fondest regards,
    Cousy
