Those look a lot like the Bella jackets! I think they will make some JCAs happy.
ReplyDeleteWill someone post the link again.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to the factory store tomorrow (day off... hanging with my friend) and I like those "bella" jackets so I'm hoping they're in the store.
ReplyDeleteAnything else you ladies think I should keep my eye out for? (Outlets at Bergen, NJ location)... thanks!
Almost everything I bought last year at Jcrew now has a factory version. How is the quality of the factory version related to the actual Jcrew versions?
ReplyDeleteFishvb24 - The factory versions are sometimes polyester, where the retail version was silk. You see it a lot in the tops. Sometimes will do a cotton version of a blouse in factory, but it's usually poly. I bought exactly one factory blouse in poly and have never done it again. The fabric doesn't drape well and I should've went up a size. It seems to get static cling easily. The printed retail buttondowns were often a cotton/silk blend and would show up in 100% cotton in factory. This was an improvement because the retail tops have ripped on me and the factory ones haven't.
DeleteThe factory wool skimmers are lined, whereas the retail cafe capris haven't been. So the factory version is preferred by some, incl myself. As far as sweaters, both retail and factory have been 100% cotton, and a viscose/wool/nylon blend. I had a retail sweater fail within 2 wears (colorblock sweater). I was reluctant to try it again in the factory version, even though there's a possibility it might've performed better.
In short, sometimes the fabrics are cheaper and/or thinner in the factory. Sometimes the factory versions are better, e.g. factory collector tees are thicker than any in retail. An upside to the factory version is that sometimes the fit is better than the retail. So while they might change a design element so a factor item can be produced at a lower cost, they might improve the fit. HTH in some way.
Thanks gigisgoneshopping! I have the retail version of the FACTORY HIGH-COLLAR COAT IN COLORBLOCK, FACTORY CLASSIC PEACOAT, FACTORY PARKA, FACTORY PRINTED SPLIT-NECK DRESS, and the FACTORY SIDE-BUTTON ELBOW-PATCH SWEATER IN COLORBLOCK. I feel like I have to get over to a factory to see how the factory versions compare to the originals.
DeleteI *need* the velvet skinnies in burgundy (actually plum - I have the drapey tunic in the same shade). I have the navy from last year & they're stretchy & great & comfy! I'm not biting though - if they do what they did last time the prices will drop tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThose blazers actually look a lot like the Celtic Country blazer that JCrew put out before the Bella in 2005-6 that used Robert Noble wool. The seaming is the same as those, it's just missing the ruffles on the pockets and sleeves. It's like a Bella/Celtic hybrid, lol. Nicely done, Factory!
ReplyDeleteThey do! I can't wait for some JCA reviews to roll in on these blazers.
Deletecould someone post the link please? :)
ReplyDeleteFactory early access link
DeleteLink! :)
DeleteThanks!
DeleteThank you! Why do I not get these emails?!
DeleteThanks Gigi! :-)
DeleteTotally off topic but Groopdealz has a herringbone puffy vest that looks identical to the factory excursion for $29.99. Of course can't speak to quality. I've only purchased jewelry from Groopdealz and qualty was ok, what you expect for that price point. I would say on par with the quality of Factory jewelry.
ReplyDeleteLoving the return of the windowpane print!
ReplyDeleteI love the "Bella jackets". I wish they came in petite.
ReplyDeleteBought the Shiny Stripe Mini and Shirtail Mini in antique white! I'll probably go in person this weekend to try on a few other things - I really love the windowpane sweater and some of the shoes!
ReplyDeleteThe online description states that the factory tailored blazers are online exclusives. Could someone report whether these have been spotted in stores? Interested in seeing them in person.
