You Got Mail... Spring Rewards Cards are Here!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Jruby18 & StylishlySpoken (in this post), as well as Michelle, who let us know about the following news regarding J.Crew card members: rewards cards are being e-mailed to qualifying card members now!

To get a head start, J.Crew is emailing the rewards cards (card with pin number) to customers. They are also still sending the actual card via snail mail.

Don't forget, the latest rewards card expires March 15, 2013. Knowing my JCAs, you won't have to worry about them expiring! ;)

So if you are a card member, *check* your mail to see if you got your Spring Rewards Card! :)

  1. Mine did not come yet but I am glad, I don't want it before the new rollout, I'd be tempted to spend it too soon!

  2. That's one thing that I don't have and it's a J.Crew credit card. I should think about getting one!

    2. Hear, hear! I think that I'm going to try to recreate that look in the neader. with my yellow tippi, gap polka dot jeans and a pair of gap pink loafers that I picked up for 14 bucks.

    3. @Beach Chic Girl - In the couple years I've been shopping at J.Crew, they never give out % off of full price merchandise during the spring/summer season. They seem to do it only during the fall/winter season...but who knows, they are unpredictable when it comes to giving discounts, they might decide to do it this SP/SU 2013.

I too would love a % off on full price items for this coming season. February's roll-out have some cool pieces I'd like to own.

    4. correction: I meant to say, only when an item is not selling well and is lingering for a month and half to two that JC will mark an item down from promo to sale with a price ending with .99

    5. The last spring promo I remember was SP09 with 30% off sitewide. That was the season when all of the colors were beiges, pale pinks and very muted.

As far as promo prices, they're unpredictable. Sometimes items go back up to fp. Sometimes they're put on promo I.e. for $58, then put on 'markdown,' for $59.99. Sometimes they go to a real markdown, I.e. promo $118 to $89.99. Some things linger and linger on first cut while others are cut two weeks in a row. You just never know in the Crewniverse. ;)

    6. And then if the Obama girls wear something, it goes from 99 to 325 !

    7. I am pretty sure they had a sitewide promo (20% off) for President's Day last year. I remember being on vacation during the promo and all the items I was watching sold out on me. I was able to order something the last day when I was back.

  4. I haven't bought enough in the last year to get a reward card. I'm closing the account actually. Not using it enough.

On a totally unrelated note, former J. Crew staffer Marissa Webb's collection is now on the Barney's website. I had high hopes for it. It is very pricey and I don't see anything I want, even if it hit sale.

  5. While I don't use my card more than a couple times per year, closing it can actually hurt your credit score.

    1. I agree. Don't close your J. Crew card because it can hurt your credit score. Just cut up your card.

  6. Genny, that can be true. It's a bit complicated, has more to do with your overall available credit. I'm closing all the store credit cards now (I have 3). The score will take a small hit, but since they were all low limit cards and the good pay history is maintained for a long time, it's not a big deal. Combine this with the knowledge that I'm not going to be shopping for credit anytime soon - no mortgage or car loan in my future - and it's better for me to get rid of the temptation than worry about a few points on my rating!

  7. Speaking of not using the JCrew card not enough, I used it so much that I could've paid my kid's pre school tuition with it. It sounds like I have a shopping addiction problem..... Yikes! Anyone else out there with the same issues?

    1. Of course you are not alone, Bella. Truth be told, the sales were too tempting to pass up at Christmas. And the post holiday sale has been amazing. I don't think I'll be spending so much now--it's hard to pull the trigger when a Liberty shirt is $150 and a Collection sweater is $300. The only reason I spent so much is that 1. I was investing in needed basics and 2. I doubt very much we will see promotions quite like this again any time soon.

    2. Bella, I raised the topic of "overshopping" exactly one year ago, in this post.

    3. Gigiofca, thanks for your reminder of your original post. I reread it, I am guilty of moments of retail therapy and buying for a lifestyle I do not lead. I even had 2 items in my J Crew cart this am, that I truly did not need or even want but they were such a great deals but FS. I hit delete and took my dogs for a lovely walk instead.

    4. JRSConifer - I have re-read the post from time to time since it went up. lol I have gotten much better about addressing where I am and purchasing clothes I can wear straight away. Having Mini G in the picture helps me keep focus much more than before.

Good for you! Walking away takes practice, esp when these promos are in effect. But it seems to get easier one try at a time. One thing I've been doing lately is not keeping a cart. Even though I'm on the site regularly, that seems to work for keeping some distance between me and clicking enter.

    5. Gigi,
I read your post on your blog. Thank you so much! I laughed and cried while reading it. I would love to see a follow up blog post that let's us know how 2012 was for you, shopping wise.

  8. I'm afraid I already used my rewards - to buy the beaded rose bracelet. I had already ordered the necklace - I think, once in a while, Jcrew does some jewelry that is exactly what makes me happy, and this set is it. So I made sure to buy it!

    1. I'm right there with you so don't feel alone lol. I see me getting much use out of the necklace but unsure about the bracelet until I see it. I ordered both anyway.

  9. Although I'm bummed I didn't get a reward this quarter, I'm actually proud that I didn't spend as much to get it, haha.

  10. Hello JCAs! Just wondering if anyone here knows whether or not Madewell updates its sale section with pop-backs as frequently as J.Crew. I just missed an item that I really wanted but didn't get around to ordering until tonight. Crossing my fingers that I may wake up tomorrow and find my fashion heart's desire back in stock...

  11. Ladies, I have 4 Coach coupons for 25% off to give away. Pls email me.
They expire tonight. I just had a baby so I've been disorganized abt timing.

Also I have a pair of the camel plaid cafe capris in 00 (#29240) that I'm returning to the store unless a JCA wants them.

I bought them in the 25% off promo when 00 was available, so I'm selling them for 120. Please send me an email at maqsadshop at gmail dot com if you're interested.
