J.Crew has posted their Spring/Summer 2013 Look Book on their website for pre-ordering (click here to check it out online).
J.Crew also notes, that the "shipping date for all pre-order styles begins in February- and select items may not be available". Some items are already wait-listed for April!
"Thanks!" to so many of you, including Marietta, Desert Flower, as well as Karen, who let us know about the following video. It is a behind-the-scenes look at J.Crew's Spring 2013 Fashion Week presentation...
What are your thoughts on the looks? Are you a fan of the styling for the various outfits? Any piece that you are in love with? Any item you question?
Loved quite a few pieces and also loved all the girls' hair!
ReplyDeleteI am loving a ton. I received the February Style Guide today, which kinda shocked me since the Web site has not been updated. I usually don't get the new Style Guide until it's been updated. I really love a ton of stuff so I wish I could browse online.
ReplyDeleteis there any nice dresses there? :)
DeleteNo. Beautiful skirts.
DeleteThey were not kidding about pre-ordering. I really like the School Boy blazer in this collection but the ship date is not until end of April. Good things come to those who wait? I am looking forward to seeing a scanned version of the February Style Guide. I currently live in Oslo so I can't get my hands on a physical copy. :o(
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of the lookbooks and usually find the regular collection to be better. I think the pieces here are ugly, overpriced, and way too 80's for my taste.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I am not tempted by what they showed exactly, but am by the regular collection that will be related to it. On the whole, the lookbook collection is pretty to look at but I don't want these actual pieces.
DeleteI am not interested in any of these pieces I agree with you totally ! carolyn from Vancouver
DeleteITA. I love their bright colors and classics with a twist, but this lookbook is a bit crazy for me. Nothing I could wear practically. Their target audience is clearly changing if you look at their prices and types of pieces.
DeleteI am very tempted by the raw silk tuxedo pant. I'm worried about the visible pocket problem J. Crew always has with pants in lighter colors. I will wait for someone to review them or until I get a chance to see them in a store.
ReplyDeleteThis was the show that featured the Manolo Blahnik shoes that clearly didn't end up being produced by MB!
I like the lookbook and the pre order concept. I buy very little from J. Crew anymore, and this is the first time I've been tempted in quite a while.
I was interested in those pants too and inquired about them with my VPS. Besides the crazy price (+300), they have a realise date in May. May! Who can wait that long for an item, especially pants (usually around end of May I stop wearing pants because it gets too warm).
DeleteI like the Schoolboy and the Guipure Lace Dress. But I agree that the regular line is much more relevant and wearable, which of course it is intended to be. I'm hopeful this season and have my eye on a few things in the Feb Style Guide.
ReplyDeleteLike Desert Flower, I haven't bought much from J.Crew in the past year. Fall is usually the best season, but this year Spring is looking good.
I already pre-ordered and received the two new Liberty shirts (Lodden and Tresco florals) and the brocade cafe capris. I'm keeping the Tresco floral for now - the other things went back.
ReplyDeleteVery meh, IMHO. Like some of the other posters, I prefer the mainstream pieces. There have been very few Collection pieces that I actually like!
ReplyDeleteAll of the pants (except the white tuxedo ones(are crazy! Especially number 8. I can't figure out who could pull those babies off!
ReplyDeleteI only like the guipure lace dress, which is gorgeous, but I'm not in the mood to drop $800 on a dress right now, so that will have to wait for sale or promo. Would like the see the regular collection pieces. I have a negative balance on my JC card right now.
ReplyDeleteSo cute. I love the green silk pants!

I was suprised by how many pieces that I liked in this new collection. The raw silk tuxedo pants for one, but I already own the reverse tuxedo cafe capris from last season. I think that I may like the reverse ones more even though they suffer from a case of show through pockets. The Liberty invitation clutch is Tresco floral. I'm not big on floral prints but this calls to me with all that brightness. The same for the print on the silk minaudiere in himmingbird floral. I don't own any Everly pumps but those ankle-cuff pumps appear to be a variation of those. If they are comfortable, I might just have to get them. I like the tough chick meets sweet lady like vibe that I get from them.
ReplyDeleteMy absolute favorite though is the silk maxi dress. I really loved wearing maxi dresses last summer and this one would be perfect for dressier occasions. Thing is the model looks to be small-chested. I'm curious as to what it would look like on a slightly curvier girl. It looks so long on her too. I'm hoping that it's not that long. I'm 5'4" and my highest wedges are only 5".
I only saw a few things in the spring preview that I really loved. The liberty clutch, the linen tipped schoolboy and the short sleeve denim shirt. Somehow, the tipped linen schoolboy was showing up on sale when I ordered it a few weeks ago, and I managed to use the promo as well bringing it down to a somewhat reasonable price. My only concern is that between now and when it ships in April, j.crew will send me an email saying, oops, we can't actually honor that price. I also received my style guide today, and again there was only a handful of items I loved. Can't wait to see what the new arrivals look like online.
ReplyDeleteI like many Collection items but I don't have 1) the lifestyle for them, 2) the wallet to buy them or 3) the youth I think it takes to pull many of them off (I'm looking at you green floral pants). So, I will admire from afar and dream of being in my 20s with a fat wallet and a chic job/social life in NYC where I could actually wear those clothes. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteReceived my "style guide" today and after flipping through it tossed it on the floor with an eyeroll. I've been drifting away from J.Crew these past few seasons and my alienation is just about complete. Other than maybe some tees and button downs and basics from the factory I will be passing in the future. Don't even bother looking at the website anymore. They've abandoned "classic with a twist" in favor of pretentious overpriced and may I say, ugly clothing. The prices have gotten out of control to the point of insulting. I will hold onto my $248 for a cotton/poly marled sweater.
ReplyDeletei am still waiting for m style guide. Anyone on the west coast get theirs? Maybe the hubby tossed it. Also when are new arrivals coming online?
