Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the HOLIDAY sale, or to see some new WINTER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I bought some things yesterday in store with the 40% additional sale items. My receipt doesn't say final sale so I was wondering if I can return some of the items.

    1. Anon: If the store signage and receipt do not say final sale then it is not. You should have no problems returning anything.

  2. I'll be cruising like I'm trying to pick up. A bargain, of course.

  3. I will probably wait until the beginning of next week before stopping by again since I was just there a couple days ago. I'm looking forward to hearing reports from JCAs that do go though. :)

    1. Also, there were a couple of new promo-priced items added to sale yesterday, and I noted them here for those interested.

  4. I think my local SAs are tired of seeing my face. I went in twice this week, with large returns both times and nary a store purchase. My store's sale merchandise is abysmal at best. The same tired items have been hanging around since before the holidays, although some with further markdowns.

I did however place yet another online order this morning: the no.2 in clover tweed, a couple pop-backs and bits and bobs.

    1. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the clover tweed skirt!

    2. Seconded! I'd love to hear about the fit on the Clover Tweed skirt!

    3. Did that skirt just get added today? It looks like it only goes to size 10 so I chatted with a CS who stated the size 12 and 14 is sold out. That just seems crazy.

      Delete
    4. jacquelyn: I do believe that it was only recently added as this was my first time laying my eyes upon it. It will probably pop back up in the size that you need or you can always do a WWFIFY. The latter shouldn't be a problem since it is still full price.

Susan & Caitlin: I will be happy to review it. It looks so beautiful online. I hope that it doesn't disappoint.

    5. I first saw this skirt in this month's Lucky and wanted it so I am not one to be deterred, lol. I did two live chats with two different results.

The first CS told me it was never offered in size 12 and 14, or it is sold out, but if it is the latter it will likely not be restocked yet in the next week or so backorder information may be added to the site. Huh?!?

The second live chat CS told me it is available in 12 and 14 yet not in the website due to a technical issue. Now that sounds like the J.Crew we all know and love.

I'm website stalking it because I want my ebates cash back.

I'll be anxiously awaiting your review, D*ska!

    6. This skirt is online tonight in sizes 00-14! Hurray for "technical" issues on the J.Crew site!

  5. a bit OT - has anyone else noticed some items not appearing in the reg priced section or the sale section? i was going through some blogs this am & came across the everly cap toe glitter pumps. clicked on the link & saw that they are now on sale. the issue is that i was JUST perusing the sale section & didnt see the shoes so i went bk for another look. it might be just my computer but i tried 2 diff browsers & still dont see the shoes online unless I did a specific search for them or used the direct link. anyone else notice any "hidden" sale items? also, anyone else know if the gold is marked down further in store? they are $180 online

    1. I have had the same experience. It can really be frustrating!

      Delete
    2. I've noticed that too! Another item always hidden is the pillbox satin clutch and the Valentina satin d'Orsay pumps. If you search all sale and then go through all the pages, it should display them all.

  6. Went in last night to do a return and got 2 great deals, Park Meadows, CO. Mila Printed Ballet Flats $29.99, I have been stalking these in the store watching the price and finally decided for less than $30 they needed to come home with me. Also, Nina Top in Dot, $17.99. This is a lovely top was really surprised how nice and perfect for spring/summer. Couple of items I noticed that may interest JCAs that may be looking. All prices prior to 40% off. Majesty Popover - Flame color size 2, $79.99, Hothouse Floral size 0, $69.99, Bow Necklace $99.99. I did check the sizes of the denim shorts and all sizes 30,31 but they were $19.99. Also the mini wool skirt with elastic waist size 4, red and blue. $24.99. Sale section is huge.

    3. Oh thanks. A better deal, just not my style. Mine too, love the SAs there. May head over to Cherry Creek tomorrow since I have another return and see what they have.
Also wanted to mention that stopped in Madewell and the Archive boots are 20% off. I know they have been mentioned on this blog.

  9. I was just in my store today, nothing exciting. Sale section has lots of XL merino tnecks (which I like because I wear them like sweatshirts, all big and loosey goosey) but in unappealling colors. Lots of tees/tanks too. No shoes that I could see. I really really really want the silk diamond tunic. I tried it on, I'm not even sure what I'd do with it, toddler hands on silk seem like a terrible idea...It's on sale online, but not in store ($110 vs $98).

  10. Just back from Fairview Mall location in Toronto and saw 2 of the expedition vests in pink (one M and one XS) down to $79.99 CAD and additional 40% off.

I saw a really pretty yellowy/neonish Blythe blouse and I wanted to order it online with the promo code I got with my pre Christmas orders but I don't see it online. When does stuff hit online that's in store? Thought it would be the other way around.

    2. If my memory serves me, that blythe blouse was from summer 2012. That must've been an old item someone returned or was never put out the store and was sitting stock in the back.

New online roll-out usually comes out 3rd week of the month..but i read here from Fabulous Florida Mommy, the next online roll-out for Feb is on Jan 30th.

    3. Thanks. This location only opened at the end of October so it wasn't around from the summer. I sifted through at least 10-12 shirts on the rack to find my size to try on. Does Jcrew ever bring back the same colours? I quite like it but it's full price $128 CAD in the store whereas I can get 20% off online :S Now wondering if I should go get it...

  11. My B&M had the exact same stuff in the sale section as last weekend. All I picked up was a pair of the toothpick bow cords (which I must have overlooked last week). At just $20, I couldn't pass them up!

    1. Tempting. I've been wanting to go there to see what is good to buy with the 40%. Did you come out with some goodies, Gigi?

      Delete
    2. JSR - It's the same as it has been, except for the jeweled-collar blazer which seems to have appeared out of nowhere. They did inventory a few days ago, so maybe they found them in the stockroom. I absolutely haven't seen it there before. I liked it.

The mens bargains are amazing. Got something for my husband and a light purple enamel wide bangle, $19.99 + 40%. Bracelet for moi, of course ;)

For anyone who shops at Westfield, they will soon no longer carry Crewcuts. The nearest one will be Burlingame or Walnut Creek.

      Delete
    3. Oooh, what will they be putting in the Crewcuts area? Expanded women's? That store is so huge already....

      Delete
    4. What??? It's probably not making enough money for the space its holding. How sad...I always buy my daughter's clothes there..even if I can't afford it, I always try to buy an item or two.

Crewcuts has better designs and better quality than GapKids. I have to admit it is a tad expensive for kids clothes that will only be worn a year.

I guess I will be online shopping for Crewcuts unless I make a trek between Corte Madera or Burlingame.

      Delete
    5. JSR - I forgot Corte Madera has Crewcuts. The signs in the Westfield Crewcuts section mention that the will still be carried in Burlingame.

  15. Strange experience with the online sale update this morning: every new item came up as sold out, right after the update happened. I called CS but they didn't believe me...

    ReplyDelete
  16. Kitkat-cda-I know! I talked to CS via live chat and she just said "items sell out quickly and j crew card holders have exclusive access to items"

EVERY single new item uploaded this morning was already sold out when it updated. Even socks! lol

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Oh, please. I have had a J.Crew card forever, use it much more often than I should, and that last bit is just not true. Put it on the list with All cashmere pills, it's a sign of good quality," and "made in exclusive secret Italian mills." If you kept a screen shot of that chat, you should email it to Dear Leader and ask him to confirm or deny. Seriously.

      Delete
    2. wellfedfred-I wish I would of kept it! I've had a J Crew card too forever and have NEVER had any perks unless it's a promo, and 99% of the time the website is running one too. I was so aggravated with CS that I just completely closed it out.

I got on live chat, again, with a different rep and it took me forever to convince her something was up with the website and the sale items weren't just "sold out" and finally after giving her about 6 random product numbers, she said it was showing in stock and would forward it to the appropriate team. Why does CS have to be so difficult?!?!

      Delete
    3. & Forgot-the first CS rep who I spoke with, who mentioned the exclusive cardholder access, I asked about a couple of the sale items. For her "nice" reply, she stated she could do a store search for any full price product of my choice (all items I asked about were sale)...nice...

      Delete
    4. That's a crazy response from CS. I noticed this too, and it's still messed up. About 500 new sale items showed up this morning, many or most of which are showing out of stock. If they are really out of stock, the pictures of the items shouldn't have been newly added to today's sale.

      Delete
    5. Thanks you East Coast or early risers. I thought I was going crazy. I had a strange chat too with CS.
Sharon M: Hello! How may I help you today?
You: Hi Sharon, why was there such a huge sale update this am but everything is sold out. That can't be correct?
Sharon M: It is and I'm happy to explain.
Sharon M: Many items had sold out or were about to, but they appeared to be in supply.
Sharon M: We updated our website to let customers know which items are not availablel to preclude any frustration in ordering.
      Sharon M: available*.
You: Oh bad inventory tracking system?
Sharon M: It's a matter of supply and demand. When we have sales and promotions, items tend to sell quickly.
You: That does not make sense. You show an item as being on sale, then when you select it, it is sold out????? Why show it, that is more frustrating.
Sharon M: We apologize for any disappointment.
You: I don't need to know what has sold out, just what is available and on sale...
Sharon M: I appreciate your comments. Would you be amenable to sending feedback?
Sharon M: Or, I can submit it on your behalf.
You: I think someone from IT has already been called to fix the issue. I appreciate your comment but that does not make logical sense. You don't show 1125 items on sale, when 90% of them are already sold out. Why would a customer need to know what you don't have, they are not trying to purchase what you don't have.
Sharon M: Again, I respect your comments and will be happy to share them. Customer feedback is a powerful resource.
You: I will try again later, I am sure the issue will the fixed. Micky and Jenna have most been probably been alerted to the issue.
Sharon M: Is there anything else I can help you with today?
You: So is a good website with accurate information. I will go shopping somewhere else this morning.
Sharon M: I'm very sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment.
You: Me too. Have a good day, I am sure you will be getting lots of frustrated customers until the issue is resolved.
Sharon M: Thanks - you have a good one as well!

    6. Thanks for this thread everyone. And just so everyone knows- this doesn't just appear to be a jcrew.com specific problem. I'm seeing similar issues on the factory site and on madewell.com as well.
      Major, major bummer.

      Delete
    7. JRSConifer: Oh brother (directed toward JC & Sharon M)! I wondered if Mickey and Jenna really do get alerted to things like this. It may seem small to them, but think of how many sales they lost this morning. I'm an early riser and look at the web site nearly every morning. I see the sale items jump from around 700 to around 1100 or 1200 on a regular basis, and I can see how fast they dwindle down, which of course happens because people are buying them, J. Crew! That's at least 500 sales they make every morning they do a sale update. When you consider that sale purchases are generally not just one item and generally include regular-priced merchandise, that's a lot of revenue they lost this morning, and Mickey should be alerted to it even if it is the weekend.

    8. Which just goes to show you that even polite words or reflection of what you are saying can be 'fighting words'. I believe that as soon as you disagree with customer service by pointing out reality, the default position that cusstomer service reps are instructed to use is 'Kill them with kindness'. I often feel as though live chat has succeeded in killing me even when I ask for a transcript.

      Delete
    9. I just can't believe it's still not fixed! And makes me laugh that they try to defend it. How about just admitting there is an issue and they will fix it as soon as they can?

    10. I was so frustrated that hours later it is still not fixed I sent off an email..not expecting any response. On a positive note, the Nina Top in Dot, that I purchased on Thursday for $17.99. Is Gabby Top, item # 32691 showing online at $64.99.

    11. Yea, pretty sad it is still not fixed. My experience with chat was similiar too yours, JRSConifer...so frustrating. I too spoke with Sharon M. J.Crew lost out on a big sale today from me. Ended up making purchases at other stores this morning for some work events coming up.

    12. I feel bad for the customer service people, obviously no one is telling them anything. Still, I think the right way for customer service to approach it is to say that we are sorry you experienced difficulties and will notify manager of the problem, then offer to do what can be done over the phone. Someone needs to give these people a status update, though.

    13. Does anyone know when this glitch will be fixed? I am being tempted and tortured. lol

    15. OK, so not fixed 100%, just in a J Crew kinda way. It is a little better but still a number of items coming up out of stock. Sorry if I raised anyone's expectations.

      Delete
  17. Thanks for the heads up on the glitch. I just ordered the Barbour jacket by placing an order over the phone. It was showing as sold out, but it was still in stock. So I would call if there is something showing as sold out that you might want.

    3. Totally ridiculous that the ONLY J Crew in Las Vegas is closing. It baffles me as to why they don't have a presence on the strip. The sheer volume of tourists with money to spend makes me think they'd make money hand over fist. I know when I go to Vegas, it isn't to gamble but to sun, shop & eat! Shekster, did you get the "our store is closing, but stay tuned" postcard? In your case, stay tuned to what? My postcard directs me to another J Crew store in a distant suburb but where are you going to go? I'm irrationally angry about these store closings. I know it's just clothes but I'm really upset!

  22. Hi, I'm new to commenting on JCA but have been following the blog for many months. I visited the Danbury store yesterday and found a great pair of the cashmere lined leather gloves in black(item 19246), size M, which I know are not showing up alone in that size and color, so I'm happy I found them! They were marked at $49.99 and with the additional 40% came out to $30 plus CT taxes, which I think is a great deal since they are made by Portolano for JC. I know I'll treasure these for a long time! I also saw the fair isle leggings(didn't have my size), many many pairs of ballet flats (some as low as $30 after the additional 40% off), and many different colors of the toothpick cords and jeans. I think the shoes were actually the best deal, I did see a pair of red patent Valentinas with a final price of $60. The SAs were very friendly and even though I only was looking in the sale section came up to me to chat( which is nice to see because last time I was in the Greenwich store, SAs couldn't be bothered).

  23. Popped in to the Eaton Centre location today - sale room is still packed and overflowing into the main space. JC appears to have sent every single excursion vest on the continent to Toronto - there were 2 racks plus overflow, in every colour. Lots of shoes and boots (got the Aggie suede booties). The cashmere stocks are more picked over, but there was just too much there for me even to begin to list.

    6. cagliari67, what did you think of the Aggie boots? I haven't seen them reviewed. Do they seem high? Comfortable? thanks!

      Delete
    7. Cate, the Aggies fit true to real shoe size (not JC size, lol) and are very comfortable - the heel is very reasonable, less than 2 inches. I went up half a size because that was all that was available on sale, but I will put an insole in if I find it's too loose. I have slightly wide feet and find the McAlisters too narrow across the front. Wore the Aggies today on a 2-hour downtown walk and my feet were fine!

      Delete
    8. Also grabbed the herringbone excursion vest today. Can reconfirm dozens and dozens of the excursion in every colour and every size. Also in the sale room - majesty peacoats, lots of the snowcap quilted jacket, and blackwatch trenchcoats.

    9. Thanks cagliari67! Can't believe there were so many herringbone excursion vests, seems like those are hard to find.

      Delete
    10. Apparently all of the vests from the US have migrated north of the border for the winter (which is ironic because it will be mostly too cold to wear them here for much of the next 6 weeks or so, other than quick jaunts to the mall - I think I only bought it because it was nearly 60 degrees here this weekend)

      Delete
    11. Were there a lot of herringbones? Are they $79.99 with 40% off? I plan to go by tomorrow and might call in the AM for them to hold. How is the fit on it? I wear a 4 schoolboy blazer. I'm wondering if I need a XS or S. I was at Yorkdale today but didn't see any vests. Thanks.

  29. Sorry to be off-topic but I am soooo mad and I want to save others a hassle. I received the Rosie dress, item 63587, in size 8 today. I am the same height as the model in the product shot. My size 8 dress was only 33 inches long per my measurements so I chatted with CS online to confirm and their stated length in size 8 is 33.5 inches long. The length of this dress is blatantly miss-represented online. And now I have to pay to send it back. I should have asked for measurements BEFORE ordering. My mistake. I won't do that again.
