This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this
post) says it best, "You know, that thing you
bought because you love it and you keep pulling it
out and then putting it away without wearing it?"
Please
share your J.Crew item (either that you own or
are thinking about getting) that you would love help
creating an outfit with.
Also,
please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel
free to include links to your blog (where you
incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you
showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance!
:)
I've styled a few of J. Crew's new arrivals: http://promisedpearls.blogspot.com/2013/01/j-crew-style-new-arrivals.html
ReplyDeletewhat do I wear with the cabernet/fushia dot cashmere sweater? also bought the neon violet toothpicks since they are very comfortable but need suggestions.
ReplyDeleteShopLV, I am wearing my neon violet toothpicks with a pale heather grey cashmere sweater to tone it down a bit. I also like it with my navy blue silk top with white polka dots. HTH!
DeleteShopLV, anything grey will do, they look really good with the ivory polka dot Blythe, the french hen sweater, any striped top in white& navy. In the summer I plan on wearing them with the gingham boy shirt in neon violet with rolled sleeves and leopard flats. I recently saw the exact same color in a Gucci ad for the spring 2013, head to toe!
DeleteThis is OT however I remember someone mentioning the Diamond Maxi Dress in this post but can't find it now. It is now on sale and I was wondering if anyone has tried it?
ReplyDeleteSlightly off topic, but I'm wondering, for those of you who have tried the Jules botanical dress, how did it run? I just ordered a size 4, FS, and I'm wondering if I should have gone with a 2. In my other silk Jules dresses, I took a 4, but in the wool versions, I took a 2. I figured since it was Collection, which seems to run small IMO, I should go with the larger of my dress sizes. Did I make a mistake??
ReplyDeletePink Peonies wore that dress the other day with a tissue turtleneck underneath it and it was really cute! So, if this dress is a little big on you, try layering!

Deleteaudreys - The bontanical Jules is cut longer and bigger than the previous Jules versions. 6 was big on me and I've taken 8 in the other. You may end up wanting the 2.
DeleteI'd have to agree with gigi on the fit. I took a size 2 which is the size I took in other Jules dresses (the wool ones are a little too fitted at the chest but...). I could have sized down. It doesn't look bad in the larger size but you might not like the looser fit. I like it because I'm a little on the busty side for my size.
DeleteThanks ladies. I shoulda checked with JCA before I ordered -- what was I thinking??!!
DeleteAnd thank you for the link Vava, I may be doing this, and in any case, it's a great option to make the dress more wearable in cold weather. I had not seen that site before -- how adorable is she???
DeleteAre you talking about the off-white Jules Collection dress that JUST came out with the fall-like paisley print in it? If it is that one it definitely runs large. I am always an 8 in Jules and the 8 was too big. If that is the one I cannot believe it went to sale already. It was too short for me so not even an option on sale unfortunately.
DeleteHi JCAs - styling the boy shirt in colorblock & a Fair Isle scarf giveaway in this post.
ReplyDeleteHello ladies,
ReplyDeleteYou can see some styling ideas for the sequined striped top, tipped pea coat and more at http://in.5thvillage.com/u/diana_chantal/
I really want to wear my boy shirt (white w/little black pokadots) and a tippi sweater for my work meeting next week. I'm meeting new colleagues for the first time and its a pretty conservative off-site meeting. I was planning to wear black Minnie's with the shirt....any suggestions on the color of tippi? Or what about a boyfriend merino cardigan? What color? HELP! I want to look nice, concservative but no skirt or dress....that just screams FEMALE to a room full of men. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd go with the camel-colored Tippi! My second choice would be light grey.
DeleteLisa, I think almost any colour Tippi or sweater goes with black minnies and white shirt. If it's a conservative group, have you considered wearing a blazer as well (or instead of the Tippi)?
DeleteI might go with a longer blazer or the cardigan since it is conservative and you are wearing Minnies.
DeleteI agree with cate. The Minnie is very form fitting and a blazer or longer cardigan would make the outfit more conservative. More so the blazer than cardi. Stick with neutral or paler color s with little pops of bright in jewelry if you wish.
DeleteLisa - Been watching the responses. I have to agree w/everyone about wearing a blazer. You could wear the Tippi, shirt and the blazer unless you think it's too many layers. If so, wear a tank under the shirt and then the blazer. Even if only an inch or two is seen of the tank, the layers will look nice. Also agree w/D*ska about adding jewelry. Just keep it very simple. Good luck with your meeting!
DeleteThanks ladies! I appreciate the feedback and took your suggestions. I'm going with the grey tippi but also taking a blazer just in case. Thank you!
DeleteI ordered a the hot pink herringbone schoolboy blazer on 'extreme popback' last week - but not final sale, woo! - but I really have no idea how I'll wear it! I'm a red head (am I crazy for thinking I can wear hot pink??), and I'm not afraid of color at all...but I'm at a loss!
ReplyDeleteI'm a fellow redhead and pink is one of my favorite colors to wear! I post photos of lots of my pink and orange outfits on my blog.
DeleteOT--I'm sure most of you got this. But I received an email about the Spring Lookbook. Here's a link to the video. http://www.jcrew.com/flatpages/spring-lookbook-video-vps.jsp?srcCode=EMBR00962&em=mariemockett@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteQuestion about office apparel... Is it okay to mix/match suiting colors? Like grey blazer with black pants, etc? Been working in a lab most my life and transitioning to an office after grad school this spring. Seems ok to me but just checking! Obviously if it's something formal, like a presentation or interview, I'd stick w/ a matching suit. But everyday is ok? Basically deciding whether or not to keep a light gray 120's suit blazer I purchased awhile back on promo. Thanks!
