"Thanks!" to many of you, including Ema (in this post), as well as Debi, who shared the following news: J.Crew is offering an additional 40% off Final Sale items in brick & mortar (B&M) stores.
The sale sections in stores are still pretty decent. So this extra percent off makes things looks extra enticing! Definitely worth a visit if you live near a store.
Will you be checking out the Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get?
This is exciting news...I'm definitely going to the store when I get off of work tomorrow. Thanks for sharing this news.
ReplyDeleteMoody Girl In Style
Good news indeed! Little by little, my husband is getting into J Crew. Esp when I get a good bargain for him. I'll have to cruise thru the mens section again. I recently noted some bargains for the men at the bottom of the In-Store Price Guide.
ReplyDeleteGood for your husband, Gigi! The quality and design of the menswear continues to be excellent. I have purchased many items for my oldest son, and they have all held up well so far. :)
DeleteFor those interested in the men's items, be sure to check out the updated Men's Promo-priced items list here.
I already posted this in yesterday's Final Sale update thread, but here goes again for anyone who may have missed it.
ReplyDeleteI stopped by my store to make a return, and they are running the extra 40% off, as well. The sale section was not as full as I've seen it in the past, but there was still quite a bit of merchandise.
For those looking or interested: there were 4 pair of the Fair Isle leggings (navy) in sizes small, large, and Xlarge. I believe they were marked to $59.99 before the 40% off. They had the Lace-printed sweatshirt in small, medium, and large plus an xsmall on the mannequin across from the registers. They were marked $49.99 before the 40% off. There was one Fair Isle ski sweater in size xsmall for $99.99, and one Herringbone quilted vest size Xlarge for $79.99 before the discount. There was one size 2 Liberty perfect shirt in claire-aude priced at $49.99, and numerous Liberty perfect shirts in wiltshire in varying sizes for $49.99, as well. (All prices before 40% off.) There was also one Invitation clutch in glitter (black/silver) for $49.99 before the extra 40% off. They were all at the Orlando store in Mall at Millenia: phone 407-226-9732.
Thanks for the heads up on the Liberty shirt in Claire-Aude, I called and they had the size 2, however it was $99.99 (the other Liberty prints were $49.99, this particular print was not). I had them double check just to make sure. I ended up getting it, since with the 40% off and waived shipping it came out to $59.99.
DeleteHi Marietta! I'm glad you were able to get the shirt, even if it was more than expected. The price you paid with free shipping is still a really nice deal, and the shirt is lovely in person. I would have bought it myself had it been my size. :)
DeleteYay! Does anyone know if the Collection Lady Jacket in Gilded Tweed is marked down in stores? It's on sale online for $280 & was wondering if it was the same in store. Also, does anyone hv a review? I saw it when I was in NY a few wks ago but stupidly didn't try it on & now it's final sale.
ReplyDeleteA - The lady jacket in gilded tweed is $199.99 in-store.
DeleteA,
DeleteI don't know how to cut and paste on the iPad so here's the info. Check out January 9th post, jcrew final sale. Look for a post from me regarding lady jacket in blue tweed. LizT gave some very helpful information about the lady jacket in gilded tweed. Hope it helps. Her review / opinion helped me to decide to get the blue tweed jacket.
Oh thank you! I just asked about this too.
DeleteReview of the gilded tweed jacket in this post.
Deletethanks for the help everyone! though i told the ups man last week that he wouldn't be stopping at my house as much this year, resistance is futile & i plan to track this beauty down!
DeleteThanks forthe review Gigi! My VPS back in Cincinnati had recommended I pass because she didnt think it was as nice IRL as the on-line photo... I can see why from your post! Now i feel better having her comments verified :) So many times i am left wondering since i cant try anything on over here in China!! Thank you!
DeleteThe inconsistency of prices between BM stores and online drive me insane..... I wear petite so I can't find anything my size at the store so I have no choice but to order online so when prices are lower at the store (as much as $100 in lady jacket golden tweed instance, thanks GIGI for the quick update!) I am so not happy!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree. Went to the Cambridgeside Gallaria last night to return a scarf and they had the striped sequin tee for 89.99 with 40% off, I mentioned the pricing difference between the website and the store were frustrating to a clerk and she was super nice and just said "sometimes there are mistakes..." which is obviously not the case, but she priced matched the online price of 29.99 with 30%. A great score for 20.99!
DeleteOT: The website has a few new arrivals this morning!
ReplyDeleteLove the beaded rose necklace. Can't wait to see that one!
DeleteMe too!!! That necklace is adorable!!
DeleteStrangely, sale items are not coming up as "final sale". I wonder if this is a glitch in the system but hopefully they will honor it because I just placed a large order. May have to return a few things..l
ReplyDeletebella: I have ordered a lot of items during this after-holiday sale and about half of it has not been final sale. I have had to return a few and had no problems doing so at my B&M. They did not have the final sale notation on the receipt, ie. the asterisk in front of the item number. If it wasn't marked as final sale during your ordering process, it should not be marked as such on your receipt. HTH
DeleteI asked CS to do a WWFIFY on a collection cashmere polka dot sweater in the grey/black combo, size XS and they refused since it was a sale item. If anyone happens to see one in store or remembers seeing one and could provide which store, I would greatly appreciate the help! Thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteThe inconsistencies are boggling... I haven't asked for WWFIFY's on several items, because they were on sale. However, I've had a couple of different SA's lately suggest using the service when they didn't have a size I needed (on a sale item). If you really want it, I would politely let them know that you have a friend who has had the service done for sale items, and you would appreciate the same courtesy. I could understand not doing it for a $7 pair of socks, but a cashmere sweater? Good luck :)
DeleteSMons, try using the online chat. I have asked several times this week if an item (on sale) looked available in any stores when it showed sold out on line. Both times they looked, check my local store inventory and then offered to do the WWFI for me. Worth a shot!
DeleteThanks!!! This totally worked. Earlier this morning when I initiated the online chat, I made the mistake of using the forbidden "WWFIFY" when asking to locate a final sale item. However, based on the above suggestion of kms423, I initiated another online chat and simply used the phrase "check in store availability." Immediately the CS rep stated he could initiate a search to locate the item and then asked for my billing/shipping information so in the event the item was located, they could ship it directly to me....sounds like a WWFIFY to me, but I didn't type that in fear the search would immediately be cancelled. I'm not getting my hopes up that the "in store availability check" will locate the sweater, but at least I have a chance. On a side note, is it weird to feel like I won here? I spent the morning trying to trick a store into selling me a sweater. Hmmmmm...... :-)
DeleteFWIW, what I do is call a random store ( usually, if it's a winter item, I call somewhere warm - TX, CA, AZ, etc... ) If they don't have it, I ask them to look for availability at other stores while I'm still on the phone w/them and make the calls myself.
DeleteI have also had success with that too Jruby18. I haven't had anyone not willing to check stock for me.
DeleteI was successful twice this evening using the on-line chat to check availability for a couple of sale cashmere sweaters that were sold out on-line...both times the agents were very helpful and offered a WWFIFY, however, I explained since the items were on sale, I knew every mattered..I asked them to check availability and to give me the phone number for the store(s) that had the item I was looking for so that I knew I had the item and was able to place the order within minutes. Worked like a charm both times, and I very much appreciated the information, as well as the great customer service offered by J.Crew. :)
DeleteSMons in case you haven't seen it, the polka dot in grey/black is available online this morning. Hope you were able to get it!
DeleteI had a new peter pan collar striped merino sweater in my cart last night (navy and nectar combo) and this morning it was gone from my cart and from the website. Hmmm...
ReplyDeleteI know the sweater you mean. I saw it too. I also saw that clover tweed skirt and new colors in the no 2 pencils in cotton and they have disappeared. If anyone sees them in store can you please report back? Thanks!
DeleteI am returning a size 0 Majesty peacoat in black that I got during the last promo. I know it's sold out online, so if you're interested in snagging it, you can email me for store information (email is bankygirl (at) gmail (dot) com). I am also happy to pass along the savings to another JCA. Hope that helps someone!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if the quilted excursion vest is on sale in store, or is it still regular price? we don't have any at all at any of my 3 j.crews
ReplyDeletedulce: They were still regular price at my store yesterday.
DeleteI'm also looking for a quilted excursion best in xs and s!
DeleteI got the Funnel Coat in Neptune Green, I really love the color, it is longer than other coats so I got my size in petite so its a bit shorter. The color is nothing like the pictures which may disappoint some, but its very similar to dusty shale pieces I have.
ReplyDeleteHit the Mall of America store yesterday and scored the red matchsticks. I think they were marked $59.99 (before extra discount). They had a pretty good range of sizes. Sale selection was better than I thought it would be. They had a few of the Diamond Lambswool sweaters, which I think were also marked $59.99 (before extra discount). Kathleen helped me and gave spectacular service. I only bought two sale items and she gave me styling ideas and was super helpful.
ReplyDeleteI am looking for the Hacking Jacket in Sheer Mint in a size 10 or 12. If you've seen it in your local store, please email me at totallyawesomedolls at yahoo.com. TIA! Melodie
ReplyDeleteMelodie, check your email.
DeleteAre these jackets a better price in-store? Thanks much :)
DeleteWendy, the hacking jacket in sheer mint is $99.99 online. I haven't seen it for lower in-store. HTH
DeleteThanks so much, Gigi! I'm taking a risk and getting one :)
DeleteGigi, thanks again. I was able to locate one, but not at the store that you sent to me.
DeleteWendy, the in-store price is $119, but I was able to get an online price match + 40% off. That's about $60 before taxes, saving $10 more than online.
Melodie - Yay for JCAWIFIFY! :)
DeleteI posted this a little while back, but I was toward the end of the day....
ReplyDeleteI am looking for the enameled giraffe bracelet in black. It's an in-store only item, and they just closed my store for remodeling for a month!
I am also looking for a Tippi cardigan in burgandy if anyone sees it in store or a long merino cardigan in black (size medium). Both are sold out online.
Thanks!
Andrea, the Murray, Utah J Crew had two of them yesterday when I was there.
DeletePhone: 801-264-1028
Giraffe Bracelets, that is.
DeleteLas Vegas store had two and they are offering 50% off. HTH!
DeleteIf anyone comes across a S or M in the herringbone excursion vest (long shot, I know :(), can you please let me know? Or put it on hold if you are in-store? fdfoster @ comcast.net (with spaces removed). Thanks SO much!!
ReplyDeleteIt's painful being an hour and a half from a decent JC B&M, although perhaps good for my pocketbook. If anyone spies the Everly Calf Hair Pumps in an 8.5, could someone email me where they might be?
ReplyDeleteDitto the Embellished Oxford Shirt in 6 or 8.
Many thanks!
kriscrew5519 at gmail dot com
just got back from Chicago Michigan Avenue store. sale section is HUGE -- lots of shopworn cashmere but also tons of pants (matchsticks, cafe capris, toothpicks). I got the ivory cashmere snood for $49 (post discount); there were lots of cashmere accessories (less shopworn to me) if anyone is on the hunt.
ReplyDeletercb.shops: were there more ivory cashmere snoods at your B&M?
DeleteHas anyone seen the popover peacoat in the camel color in stores?
ReplyDeleteTIA!
D*ska, Can't reply for some reason, but YES (there were quite a few and they all looked in good shape). Also had the bright pink/fuschia color.
ReplyDeletethank you rcb.shops.
DeleteI thought that I called the store but instead I ended up with a CS who is doing a WWFIFY. She assured me that I would get the same price and waived the shipping fee.
stopped in today to my b&m to look at the sale stuff. The sale section was totally picked over and very small. Not much left to speak of but some ratty looking cashmere. However, for those of you who were looking for the denim shorts, my store had larger sizes (31 & 32) for $19.99 minus 40%. If only they had had my size!! That's a price I can get on board with.
ReplyDeleteI found a gorgeous cashmere cardigan at Talbots today for $65 down from $189
DeleteJust went in to make a return; the herringbone cashmere sweater is down to $99.99 pre-40%. Green Hills Mall in Nashville has the pale pink/gray in xs and a few M and L on the Cabernet/lilac combo. If you call, ask for Matt-he's great! HTH :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip! I am going to look for that sweater in my store. They had a lot a couple weeks ago but they were still too expensive.
DeleteDoes anybody know how this runs compared to the Tippi sweater, and can comment on pilling or lack thereof? I would love to snag one!
DeleteI don't own it, just tried it on, but I thought the fit was similar to the Tippi. The sleeves are 3/4 length. It is a warmer/thicker sweater than the Tippi. I was the same size in both.
DeleteI don't own one, but I have seen them in the stores multiple times and I have to say, compared to the other cashmere sweaters, they seem to have held up really really well (don't look shopworn at all). I tried one on though, and I found the weave oddly tight across my shoulders. I would have to size up from my normal tippi size, but I think others have said the sweater has worked in their usual size.
DeleteOT, but what does everyone think about the styling of the model's eyebrows in the catalog and on the web site? It's the "brushed up" look. On the one hand, I appreciate real eyebrows that haven't been overly plucked. But on the other hand, these are some bushy brows...
ReplyDeleteLove them!
DeleteThat style is really in right now...finally, my naturally "bushy" eyebrows are in fashion LOL.
Deleteyes to thick eyebrows! I have thick brows myself - inspiration: Audrey Hepburn and Natalie Portman.
DeleteFound it strange and distracting from the main focus which should be clothing. I would never brush my eyebrows up. Crazy looking.
DeleteThis is the best news I've heard today! I'm on my way out the door!
ReplyDeleteBought the last pair of Toni tassel loafers from the NYC Madison Avenue store today, in the brown/red; they're down to $89.99, by the way, before the extra & off. I was eyeing the gray and white polka dot snood (they had two more at Rockefeller Center) but it shedded all over me when I was carrying it around in the store-- it looked like I had a gray cat climbing all over me, I could roll off the yarn in balls from my navy coat. Ended up buying one of the open-weave scarves in yellow for my mom. Wish the sweaters had an extra mark down, but I guess it's good news for my credit card.
ReplyDeletePhoned the Vancouver store and they are having the 40% off as well in the sale section....I'm going to check it out on Sat. morning. I called to make sure they were on board with the U.S store sale. Carolyn from Vancouver
ReplyDeleteGot the lambswool diamond sweater for $35.99. The Robson store had quite a few of them in both colours.
ReplyDeleteAn OOTD here.
Has anyone been able to do a WWFIFY on the excursion vest in herringbone? I talked to CS via live chat twice today and both quickly responded "sorry but this item is sold out nationwide". I'm not even sure they checked.
ReplyDeleteI was in the Toronto Eaton Centre store yesterday and they have quite a few herringbone excursion vests in stock, so I would call stores that are closer to your location.
DeleteThat is such a bummer, as they can't do charge-sends to US customers :(

ReplyDeleteHave folks been able to successfully use the student discount with the 40%..i am trying to stock up on #2 pencil skirts in double wool serge. They are not that many online anymore..wonder if they have any in stores..let me know if you see a whole bunch in any of the stores you went to.
ReplyDeleteThanks
I have been able to use my student discount with this promo. Got a pair of the slim straight cords for my hubby for $30!!! I asked my local store manager about the stacking of student discount and she said that the store should always do it unless it's a store-wide promo like 30% off everything or 30% off $125. She also told me that I could bring in an online purchase and get it adjusted by 15% ! I've never heard that before but I'm definitely doing it!
Deletei don't know anything about the adjustment on online purchases, but i've also asked about the now-okay stacking of student discount. what i've been told is that two promos which would apply to a whole purchase cannot be stacked - i.e., if a promo would cover both regular and sale items (as you note), it can't be stacked with student discount, because the student discount can also cover any type of item. i'm agreeing with you, basically, just thought the way the sales associate explained it to me was helpful.
DeleteYesterday at the DC F Street store, I got the grey and white polka dot snood price was $39.99 plus 40% off and then I got 15% student discount.
DeleteI've taken an online order in for a student discount adjustment. Didn't have to bring the merchandise, just the receipt/order sheet. I did it at the Collection store on 79th and Madison.
Deleteadjusting the 15% of online purchase is a great deal..it would increase online shopping on my part. Will try it one of these fine days for an item that is jcrew catalogue only...thanks for tip.
ReplyDeleteJust want to mention, that when you take your online order in the store to get the educator or student discount applied, it will become subject to the in-store 30 day return policy, instead of the 60 days for online purchases, if they do it as a return/repurchase. However, I'm pretty sure if they take the time to apply the discount to the order instead of returning it, then recharging you, it will still be returnable for 60 days. It's been awhile since I've had my online orders adjusted with the discount, but that is the way it was the last time I did. I know it may not matter to some if the order becomes subject to the 30 day return window, but just wanted to share in case some of you prefer the 60 days to return.
DeleteI know this is a long shot because I've been stalking the site for weeks - but has anyone seen the Stadium Cloth Cocoon Coat in Heather Grey in a size 00? I have a 0 I can trade if a fellow JCA has it, NWT, was just a bit too big for me!
ReplyDeleteTIA!
taryn.taltavull@gmail.com
A similar longshot: I have a navy stadium cloth duffle coat that I have worn three times. It's size 4 and I am starting to wish I had gotten a 2. If anyone wants to trade, let me know! kiwigem (at) att (dot) net
ReplyDeleteTIA!
Good morning!
ReplyDeleteI have just enrolled in some community college classes because it is time to update my ancient masters degree.
I'm going to learn lots of good stuff but I'm mostly excited because now I will qualify for the J Crew student discount for the first time in my J Crew life!
What do I have to do to get it? Do I have to show a student ID? Or will my student ID number and edu e-mail address be enough?
Thank you!
In my experience you just need to show your ID.
DeleteAhh I'm not supposed to shop! Anyway! I've been wanting the black leather cashmere lined gloves forever so I found out the 5th ave store in NYC has them through online chat, so I went in to check. Of course, none is left but a SA called the store search for me and they will let me know within 48 hours if any other stores has them and mail them to me :D. PLUS they honor the online sale price PLUS in store extra 40% off sale item! NICE!
ReplyDeleteWhile I was in store, I picked up the tipped peacoat in Ivory. LOVE how soft it is! Couldn't resist! After the extra % off and teacher's discount, it was around $65 :) and a pair of jeweled T-strap suede ballet flats for around $45.
Ahh I really shouldn't be shopping!
you gals are so lucky. the jcrew store in soho never lets you stack the student discount on top of the additional percentages off the sale items :( every time i ask, they say no. anyone in the NYC successful in stacking? the columbus circle store let me do it once, but i think it was because i had a regular price item too.
ReplyDeleteTry 5th & 17th. I stacked fine yesterday :)
DeleteHi JCAs - review of the Janey glitter flats in this post.
ReplyDeleteA bunch of sale reviews here
ReplyDeleteWhen you do a WWFIFY or charge send from a store, do they allow you to use a gift card?
ReplyDeleteObsessedWShopping: Yes, you can use a gift card on a WWFIFY or charge send. If it does not cover the full amount, I would make sure they know to enter the gift card first though.
DeleteHas anyone tried the Liberty Tunic? Does it work well as a bathing suit cover-up as advertised? Just starting to plan for upcoming sun vacations...
ReplyDeletegood news: in Las Vegas the discount is 50%
ReplyDeletebad news: the store is closing in nine days.
I think its crazy to close the only jcrew in Vegas.
Agreed. I am moving through the stages of grief and I have moved on from denial to anger at this point.
DeleteFound the Edie Grand bag in spicy gold color on sale today for $99.99 before 40% discount and 15% student discount at Houston Galleria store, came out to $50.99 :) There were 3 more on the shelf when I left, however, none of them (including mine) were in excellent shape, the delicate leather was somewhat store worn with minor or moderate hints of scratches here and there.
ReplyDelete
