J.Crew Email: FREE SHIPPING - enjoy a summer splurge

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Belle de Jour, who let us know about J.Crew's latest promotion.

J.Crew sent an email out for free shipping on orders of $150+ with promo code BREEZE. This offer expires 7/15/09.

I suspect that this promotion is tiered (i.e. there is a code for $100 and possibly for $175+).

Mini Update:
"Thanks!" to Dara (in this post), & Marietta, who let us know that promo code SPLASH works for free shipping on orders of $175+.

Will you be taking advantage of this free shipping offer? If so, please also share what items you are planning to purchase! :)

  1. This is tiered. I just got a code for free shipping on $175, SPLASH. I always, always get the codes with the highest amounts. Does anyone know why they do this? Really infuriating...

  2. Dara: I suspect that its based on how often you shop with J.Crew & use your email address. I think the more you do, then the higher the promo code's minimum amount.

Of course, on the other {positive} hand, the more you shop & use your email address, the more likely you are also to get those red Mickey cards (that happened twice so far).

  3. Thanks, Alexis! I feel better now :)

  4. Dara: I completely understand that J.Crew wants to attract new customers with low mins. However, I am with you though, from a loyal customer-perspective- that its infuriating to find out that there are lower min codes for those who shop less. :)

  5. has anyone tried the nottingham boots? i love the flat ones in both leather and the graphite suede. Just not sure I can spend that much money... free shipping helps, but i wish they had a percent off...

  6. Maybe they look and see the $ amount of the stuff sitting in your cart - I also got the $175 one. The good news is that I found the BREEZE one on here before I even got my email.

  7. No, the minimums are too high...and I don't do ride alongs. As others mentioned they tend to keep the ride alongs and I don't want to be tempted. I like to think I am a savvy shopper!

  8. I got breeze and I drop alot of cash at the crew. I dont think there is any rhyme or reson to which one you get!:-)

  9. OT: But there is an article/interview [& pictures inside her office] with Jenna Lyons on the Huffington Post this morning. Click here. There are a few interesting bits.

  10. I will wait for extra 30% off...free shipping with the high min (and final sale) doesn't temp me...

  11. I don't think there's any thought put into who gets what email, either. J.Crew doesn't impress me with its business model on some levels - for starters, how is it that as someone who orders fairly regularly from them, they never, ever, ever send me a catalog? I've signed up, and I'll get one - and then none. Way to keep me enticed, j.crew ...

  12. OT - anyone have the code and/or link to the printout for BR's additional 25%? I saw it on a blog and lost the link. I think it begins 7/16.

  13. Interesting article on Jenna.

    Thanks for the link.

There must really be some sort of HUGE compaign to keep putting her in the spotlight OVER and OVER AGAIN and AGAIN. Overexposure is starting to set in a bit for me.

Jenna only wear high heels. I am the exact opposite. I will not wear high heels for any reason! Ha ha:)

  14. It's funny, bec. in the article Jenna is quoted as saying she only wears high heels if her back allows her.

I had to google Alexa Chung to find out who she is. I regret wasting the time.

  15. And Jenna says the studded sandals are her favorite of the gladiator style. They are flats. Maybe she just likes them, but doesn't wear them.

  16. those stinkers! yet again, I get the $175 code - but thanks, Alexis, given your rationale above, I feel a little better. :)

  17. I am surprised with all of the publicity they do and how they are building a lot of the reputation of the company around Jenna. I think that's dangerous because they have a lot riding on her. They must pay her a fortune. As soon as she jumps ship they will have a rather serious PR issue unless they have another "star" designer or creative director in their back pocket.

  18. I have found the best way to deal with the ride along is to order a pair of shoes that are not even close to my size. There is no way I can keep them, no matter how much I love them! I will even choose a pair that I do not particularly like, just to make double sure that they go back! I was surprised to receive the shipping code for the lower amount, which is not usually the norm for me!

  19. I'll tell ya'll a little trick:

Sign up for JCrew emails with multiple email addresses. I have it on 3. I usually get the lowest minimum codes on my email addresses that I DO NOT have my account with at jcrew.com. On the email address that jcrew.com has, I consistently get the highest minimum codes.

  20. hallie & Kathy - thanks for the ideas - I do believe I will try both of them out!

  21. I got the $175 coupon. I am not a big spender.

I get the catalogs regularly, but for me to get emails I had to give it to them at the store when I made a purchase. When I tried to sign up online it never seemed to work.

  22. OT - I received the matchstick denim bermudas today and they are going back. I love the matchstick jeans but the way the shorts are cut in the leg they look really stupid on me. I have toned legs and the shorts seem to come in really narrow at the hem and then flare out a bit making my legs look really curvy and not in a good way. Paid FP $68 for these and what a major disappointment. I think the fit is why they don't have a full-frontal shot of these online, it is cut off at the knees but you can still see how the hem comes in and then flares out.
    :-{

I got the premium stretch twill bermudas in the same order and they fit like a dream, very flattering and comfortable. Oh, and they were only $23.99 after the EXTRA20.

  23. Dara... I get sooo annoyed by that, too! I was just "upgraded" to a silver JCrew credit card. But I didn't get a Mickey card. I don't get their system at all.

I am just thankful for all the JCAs who share the lower minimum codes!

  24. Kathy... you have such willpower! That is a really good idea, if I could ever get myself to do it...

  25. FYI-I was in the store today and the extra 20% is still in effect. The SA said it was scheduled to end Sunday but they kept it going, not sure when it will expire. Not too much to see. Mostly picked over, but I did pick up a pair of white bootcut jeans $39.99+20% off. I usually can find AT LEAST a bracelet or necklace on sale at my store but today-just a few bangles. Oh well. I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of new things. I did see thick hoodies on a table and some ballet flats (they NEVER have shoes)! Also, the store has crewcuts on sale with 20% off, I was told THEIR STORE will not be carrying it in anymore.
BTW, my store is Milwaukee/Mayfair Mall, WI.

  26. I plan to wait till some fall items start to show up. So far I see a shirt to order, but that's it for now.

I ordered the watch and a navy strap for it so I'm good for the next little bit.

  27. gigiofca:

    the BR code is: THANKYOU
and you have to use either, BR, GAP or ON card for 25% off from 7/16-19.

I love how much discounts they offer throughout the year. Not to mention the 15% off choose your sale card I get since I'm a Luxe cardholder.

    J. Crew I'm not asking much... please no FINAL SALES and at least treat your credit card holders better by offering free shipping and additional discount or double rewards points period!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. jcmama - Thanks! I finally got a postcard today. I agree -- JC should offer free shipping for cardholders, double points, etc... I'm starting to get really turned off.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hallie829 -- I just noticed the same thing...

My work email (which is the one JC has on file for my shipping) got the $175 minimum, but my home email got the $150 minimum!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I got the $175 code on the email I use to sign into the JCrew site...and I got the $150 code on my student email, which I only use when I have them apply discounts. Annoying. And of course, it figures, there are some popbacks in colors/sizes I wanted, not available over the weekend during EXTRA20! They're so sneaky!
