J.Crew Email: EXTRA 20% off final sale. Ends tomorrow.

J.Crew sent an email this morning to remind us about their latest offer. They are offering an additional 20% off sale items (click here) using promo code EXTRA20. This offer expires tomorrow, Friday, 7/10/09.

During this sale, I was pleased to see a lot of pop-backs in the sale section during the sale updates. ... And I won't lie, I took advantage of this offer (even though I really hate final sales). I ended up buying the Victoria Ruffle Cami (Item 99742; Regular: $88.00, was: $59.99 and now $29.99) in Melon and Navy. (They were both not in my normal size to buy, but I plan on wearing them underneath sweaters and cardigans anyways.)

Incidentally, I am surprised there isn't a free shipping code being offered by J.Crew (even with a high minimum of $150 or $175). Usually the free shipping codes overlap- but this time, there doesn't seem to be one. I wonder if a free shipping (with minimum) promotion will be the next offer from J.Crew. (Subtle Hint For J.Crew: please offer another free shipping code soon, real soon.) ;)

Are you planning to check out J.Crew's Sale Section before this offer ends tomorrow? Did you take advantage of this offer? If so, please share! :)

  1. Glad you were able to pick some things up Alexis! I bought the dressy jersey strapless dress and I got the email that it has shipped. I am just hoping that it actually makes it here and fits!!

  2. I am still on the fence about ordering - I may try to swing by my B&M, if I can manage with the kiddies in tow. Since I love fall clothes in general so much more than summer, I am thinking I may just wait and save my crew $ for then.

  3. No specific mention of J.Crew, but retailers didn't have a happy June: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090709/ap_on_bi_ge/retail_sales

  4. I managed to snag the Cate leather slingbacks in dusk when they popped back. Other than that, the sale section has been the same for so long that nothing is tempting me.

  5. During a moment of sleepiness and procrastination from check emails, I did succombed to the dangling mousetraps... bought another pairs of cafe capri, this time in seaside green. Hope it fits...

  6. Just a side note. Banana Republic is sending out email coupons of $15, $25, $100, or $500 off for online shopping. No minimum purchase!!! Can be combined with FS code!!! And it's not final sale!!! Jcrew, did you hear that?

  7. I picked up a few pop backs online- the shoreline dress in chocolate, a palm leaf necklace and a few crewcuts goodies. I also stopped by my local B&M and I was informed by an SA that they are taking Crewcuts out of 8 stores Nationwide including the big North Avenue store in Chicago. Sad for me as I love Crewcuts... She also mentioned that a lot of stores shipped out their jewelry to the Southhampton store as it was selling like crazy there and not here in the Midwest??

    ReplyDelete
  8. I purchased a few things from the Crewcuts line at great prices, and got FS on top of the 20%. I did not pick anything else for me, there's nothing on sale right now that tempts me.

  9. I bought the editor tote! hee hee but then I went into my order history and cancelled it!! I was on the fence...I love it but I don't need a tote. I need a nice everyday handbag.

  10. Final sale ends tomorrow. So I just ordered Pansy jacquard pencil skirt (size 4), Cherry-blossom necklace in deep rose (I already own the same in dark color), skinny leather belt in sour lemon and three-quarter sleeve stretch shirt in flamingo. With EXTRA 20% I paid $146.00 plus shipping.

  11. oh no I had to buy one more FS item! The patterned ballet flats in the Fresco print popped up in my size and I could not resist- love this print!
    Pretty decent update today.

  12. pfp - was it the sandalwood editor tote???? Because I wanted it and then it disappeared! that would be so funny if you were the one who checked out with it first!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Kater - oh no, I hope not!! I'd feel so bad!

    ReplyDelete
  14. pfp - do not feel bad! you saved me money!!! ha ha ha! AND if it was you that canceled it, it will pop up again tomorrow ;)

  15. Crystal is so right. In the past 2 weeks I have spent almost $1000 spread out over 4 orders at Banana Republic.

I wanted to get some stuff from J. Crew but the shipping was cutting too much into my savings...and final is so definite.

My relationship with J. Crew this past year has been so bumpy. I hope they can get their act together soon like they did in the old days with all of the promotions and perks.

These days a sale isn't enough to get my coins....I need bonuses.

  16. YIPPE.....

Just snagged a pop-up on the hip-slung jeans in resin rinsed wash. My FAVORITE jeans in the whole wide world!!

So is it worth going in to a store tonight. Just trying to debate anything left or pretty much picked over? Thanks :-)

  17. A little sad to say that I just got my most recent order, and there's a stain on the one final sale item. Here we go again...

    ReplyDelete
  18. oh no rae! I'm so scared that is going to happen with my final sale orders as well. Take it back - final sale or no final sale, it's defective if it's stained!

  19. One thing you might want to consider...the extra 20% works on regular sale items as well, to my great surprise. I took advantage of this and ordered the double serge cotton pencil skirt for $78 plus 20% off. You need to click around the regular section b/c there are "hidden" sales to be had!!

  20. Did anyone attend the sample sale in the city yet?

Alexis - could you make a new post about it?

Unlike most other readers, I had a good experience at the last sale. I picked up a library skirt and a few other items.

    ReplyDelete
  21. oye, I just picked up 4 nice work shirts. IMO, Jcrew makes the best ready-to-wear fitted button down shirts/blouses. The 20% off just makes up for the shipping and taxes. I usually don't buy online, b/c of the damned shipping, but they put the Jacquard-dot tuxedo perfect shirt on sale this morning and I could not resist.

  22. Over the last few days I've made a couple of orders and picked up some great stuff- the origami tank in bronzed sand, the bubble necklace in dusty blossom (yay), a lightweight cashmere tunic in celery, the medallion print shirt, and I scored a "popback" of the irvington co-ed cardi in heather gray for $23!! Now I'm done for awhile!! I really hope I like the origami tank. Has anyone reviewed it?

  23. I just got back from my store where I picked up the brown dangle necklace. It wasn't marked on sale, so I asked my ps (Billy - he's the best!) to check on it and it was on sale! Yeah! Sale stuff was more of the same, although I noticed some jeans on sale. Unfortunately, they didn't have my size (or maybe that's good since jeans aren't on my July list). I did try on the toothpick ankle jeans and while I love them, I'm not sure about the length. I saw some of the new fall colors in a sweater and I love the new periwinkle color. I MUST have something in that color this fall! I also saw some new fall Crewcuts girls' tees that are adorable! My niece will probably end up with at least one of them. :) Also, Billy told me that they've pushed back the next release to July 29. They didn't have the safari jacket for me to look at in any size, not that I planned to buy it, but I did hope to at least see it.

  24. Math Teacher,

do you know if they have the coccodrillo skirt at the Charleston store. I thought I would walk done there if they do.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Leader, I didn't see it. I didn't see any of the items in that print. Sorry. I wish they carried more items - know what I mean? I really didn't see anything new from last Thursday.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I take back the new items - the crewcuts tees were new and I don't remember seeing the sweaters last week, but they could have been there.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Crewbie,
I tried the origami tank at my B&M, and they run large so you would have to size down. It's a cute tank and I like the feel of it. Hope you like yours.

  28. I went to the Greensboro, NC store today; lots of things on sale but most were very big or very small sizes. Was about to leave empty handed when I spotted the pearl cluster necklace in the sale case with a $79.99 price tag! Scooped it up quickly and got the extra 20% off. Yay!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks jcmama! I ordered a small, so I hope it fits!

  30. I got tons of jewelry on sale at the stores - a black crystal Taj Mahal necklace for only $9.99, a 14k gold butterfly necklace $9.99, crystal black pearl necklace $9.99 before the 20% off! Unbelievable! J.Crew has very nice jewelry... hopefully the color of the gold won't fade easily over time. Does anyone experience such issue with J.Crew jewelry? I just can't resist those gorgeous jewelry even though it's final sale. I think they're very wearable and classy. :)

  31. So glad I now live within minutes of a J. Crew store! Popped in the other night and got the men's slub cardigan in natural for only 16 bucks. I'd been on the fence about this all season because I liked it but not at full retail or even after a markdown. But 16 is just right for this. A great piece.

    ReplyDelete
  32. math teacher,

Do you know if your store had any other brown dangle necklaces and what the item number or J.Crew name for it is? Also, if you don't mind me asking, what was is the sale price for this necklace?

  33. Jean,
    which store was this? tia!

  34. Was at 45th & Madison store today; they had a ton of plain t-shirts etc left in the sale section. Jewelry cases were practically cleaned out (no sale left, no restock of new stuff) and shoe section was very sparse with 4 new styles and all markdowns dumped in the boxes in the sale section. did pick up the summerweight cardigan in lavendar--they had sizes XS-L left.

  35. I'm glad you all are finding such great think at your B&M Jcrew store. I never have such luck. The good stuff I see online are never in any of the B&M near my house.
Yeah, usually it's stuff nobody wants or sizes too big or small.
I never see pretty button down shirts on sale instore.

  36. Off topic, but I was wondering if one of my fellow Aficionadas could help me out.

I've been desperately trying to find the slub shirred ruffles tank (item 17329) in the light sage (green) color in a size small. I've tried a dozen stores and they're all out of that color. I've had no luck with "we will find it". If any of you have recently seen this color in your local store, can you please let me know which one so I can call.

There is one on ebay, but I didn't want to pay more than the shirt was worth.

    Thanks for your help!

  37. Ashley, I got the jewelry from the new accessory store in Soho, NYC. They don't mark all the sale prices on the items. I just wandering around there for a long time and asked to try on the necklaces and asked for the prices. There are hardly any earrings or rings there but tons of necklaces.

    ReplyDelete
  38. JCrew Fanatic,

I remember trying on the slub shirred ruffles tank in light sage at the king of prussia store. If they don't have it try calling the liberty place, philadelphia store.

  39. JCAnon,

Thanks for the heads up. Just tried both stores and they're both out of that color. I will continue on my search...

  40. Violet - I don't know if they had another one. They had 2 last Thursday, so you might try calling 843-534-1640 (ask for Billy). The item number is 17693 and it was marked down to 29.99. I don't know the name since it was never online and I don't recall seeing it in a catalog. HTH

  44. Sarah: I plan on having a post for the latest sample sale on the day it starts. Hopefully, any JCAs that attend the event will share with us. Although I suspect the merchandise/price points will be the same, I am hoping for better. :)

  45. Daaang, J. Crack really got me today in Cincinnati! I spent way too much, but I'm so happy to finally see an extra percent off!

I bought that "big bow" skirt in the greenish color - which was shown in the Today show video in pink! Yay!

I'd like to get an update of the sample sale as well...I'm taking my very first trip to NYC next week and I will be making it there just in time to go to the last day of the sample sale! Can't wait!

  47. The update today was really good, IMO. There was a lot of stuff from winter, spring and summer 2009 and the quantities diminished pretty quickly. I have not seen it down to only 2 bags on the sale for a long time.

I picked up the Delfine skirt in my usual size along with a couple other items. Bought the medallion bikini on Tuesday and it has shipped already. Wondering why I didn't notice that print earlier but happy to get it on sale. I look forward to opening my J.Crew packages next week.

  48. I went to local B&M (Boston burbs). I purchased butterfly necklace for $7.99, dangling pearl necklace for $23.99, wide pearl garden bracelet for $47.99, deco-dot cardigan (S) for 15.99. and solid ¾ sleeve stretch shirt in pink for $31.99. I also saw a lot of lkat skirts in yellow print and double serge big bow skirts in all the colors except pink.

  49. I have not bought anything final sale, and do not intend to. There would have to be 30% off plus free shipping for me to reconsider ... I've been burned too many times before. I love fall, so I'm saving up for a splurge :)

  50. OT, but can anyone comment on the fit of the Joley peep toe heels? The warm brick color is gorgeous, but I wonder if the toe box is narrow.
    TIA!

  51. Made a quick stop to the Reston and Tysons stores today. The Reston store had one pink bow skirt in a 2 and the Tysons had a bunch of the green ones. I bought a pair of the brown matchstick jeans for the fall -- hope to wear it with some of my sweater dresses and long sweater jackets.

Also, one of my close friends said that the factory stores have the hiphugger jeans -- I absolutely love these jeans and am not sure why they don't sell these anymore. I put a bunch on hold for me that I plan to go pick up this weekend. In case anyone is interested...

Finally, need fashion advice -- for those of you that own the Delfine skirt -- what do you wear with it? The skirt is very cute and it's been sitting in my closet now for a couple weeks and I'm not sure about what color to wear with it....

  52. Went to the store at brea mall (ca) and more than half the store were sale items, i mean just tons of merchandise on sale. I spotted tiered ruffle skirts mostly in size 6, bow double serge skirts in pink and brown, matchstick jeans in petite, french terry cardigans and cashmere short sleeve cardis, these were marked 59.99, online they are still 99.99.

  53. laurenmarie10 - Thanks for the double serge pencil skirt tip. I picked up aqua and dark slate. Can't wait!

  54. K Mel, I found the Joley toe box to be about the same as other patent-leather JC peep toes; that is, on the narrow side but not so much that they were totally uncomfortable.

The warm brick color is *gorgeous*! I like this round of Joleys because they don't have the metallic toe bed - I thought that looked kind of strange.

  55. ahhh - so are other people's orders stalled from this? I have one from weds that is just sitting there in released status with no movement. I'm thinking it's not going to ship, which totally bums me out! I know shopping FS is a risk - I need to learn to manage my expectations better!

  56. I heard the Aurora heels came back and I missed them! If you picked them up in the 20% off and decide you don't want them, please let me know. I'm a 7, I hear they run a tiny bit big so I could probably do a 6.5 or 7. mrsnonia@aol.com.

  60. I placed an order Tuesday morning and yesterday late afternoon it was still showing as "open" so I called. The cs told me that it was released and ready to be scanned. I checked this morning and it had shipped. I'm not sure what's taking so long, but it may take 2.5 days to ship.

  61. For those of you that saw the Bow pencil skirts in Tiffany Blue, what stores were you at?? I'm desperate for one in a size 2. You can email me at berlyb33@yahoo.com too. Thanks!
