Darlings, is it time for a J.Crew coupon code?

Yes, it is that wonderful time!

J.Crew is offering free shipping on orders of $150+ with promo code WAN-899. This offer expires 8/8/09. :)

Incidentally, J.Crew sent two August 2009 catalogs to my home- one under my name & one under my husband's name. The catalog sent to my husband is the edited version (consisting of 75 pages). The catalog sent to me was the entire catalog (containing all 119 pages). I am not really sure how they decide who gets which version.

Nonetheless, I am just thrilled to get a catalog so quickly after the release of new arrivals online. (Normally, I have to pick up a copy at the B&M stores.) There is something about looking through a hard copy of the catalog (as oppose to the online counterpart), that I really enjoy. :)

Update: As Brenda Kao (in this post) correctly pointed out, the fine print of this offer includes: "one offer per family" and "for one-time use only". Ugh! :( Please let us know if you have used this code in the comments- this way we can find out if the code is literally one-time use or one-time use per email address. TIA! :)

  1. How great about multiple catalogs (even if one is shortened). What parts are missing in the short version? I received my long version today, too, and love the ruffle coat and tall boots. Hoping some of the items go on sale before it gets too cold out... Thanks for sharing the code! :)

  2. I got the edited version, but mine had a different free ship code (but also for $150+), and expired on August 8th instead of the 9th. In the fine print it also said "This is a private offer for one-time use only." Has anyone used the code you shared in this post yet? It seemed to work with a test cart, but I don't know if anyone has actually used it yet. I'd love to know if these catalog codes really are one-time use.

  3. Cinnamonruffles: From a quick look-through, the edited version omits the swimwear and office wear (suits) for women. But like you, I am happy to get one. :)

Brenda Kao: You are right! :) The offer expires on the 8th, and the fine print does state for "one-time use only". That is sad news- J.Crew is really cracking down on the free shipping codes. :(

If any JCAs use the code, please let us know in the comments. This way we can find out if the code is literally one-time use or one time per address. :)

  4. Wow I had no idea they did that with the catalogs! The catalog in your husbands name, did it have less womens clothing?

I picked up the catalog at the store on Friday that was the full version. Lots of good stuff in there!

  5. I had trouble and couldn't use the last coupon code that you posted when I ordered the Auroras. i was so pressed to order them before someone else grabbed them that I didn't try to search for another coupon code. I don't know if anyone else had a problem. JCREW, HOW ABOUT FLAT RATE SHIPPING!!!!!

  6. Hey, Dallas JCAs- I received a printable coupon for $25 off $150+ for the Galleria, July 28-August 11. Let me know through my profile if you want it-- I'm not in town and won't use it.

  7. Patina - Amen. I wish J.Crew would get on board with other retailers and offer a low flat rate shipping! It's so hard to justify their shipping costs! Plus, what if you order a ring...you still have to pay like $12 shipping...and I KNOW it does not cost that much!

  8. Patina Cabachon: That's so interesting! Thank you for sharing b/c I think you might have solved what's going on... I think J.Crew is allowing codes to be used one time per account.

If that's the case, then as a consumer I am a bit sad. It's not like the minimum was super low (like $20) or free, it's still at a high amount of $150. So if you get customers to spend $150, a low shipping rate seems reasonable. :)

  9. So, I'm curious then, how does J.Crew decide who gets the free shipping codes? Will this be like the red cards where they seem to be handed out somewhat randomly and many customers miss out?

I used to get free shipping coupons in the catalogs but don't recall seeing one for quite a while. I buy a fair bit at full price and free shipping was a bonus that I will definitely miss.

  10. Do any Canadian JCAs know if the shipping codes ever work for us? I have never been able to use the free shipping codes, but am wondering if all CJCAs experience the same problem?

  11. Hey Rosie, I regularly use the free shipping codes posted here. Sometimes the odd one fails, but I can't remember when I last paid for shipping and I average an order a month.

  12. I didn't get a catalogue! Drives me crazy, I shop a lot, I have a credit card, and I always have to pick up my catalogues at the store.

  14. I used the DRF code Saturday on an order and it worked. I purchased a couple popbacks I didn't see last week and threw in a pair of the toothpick cords in dk. aubergine to make the $150 :)

  15. I actually got the catalog already, but sans FS code. I remember getting them all the time years ago, when the standard code was for FS and $20 off $80. Ah, the good old days.

  17. I'm not sure about the new code that you posted here. However, I made 3 purchases in a week and the DRF code seemed to work fine.

Ps. I just made the purchase with the WAN code, and it worked!!!~ So, I think the code might randomly assigned, which might also applicable for other to use (since it's the fine print, not like the code that you'll find on VS $10 off coupon that will be one time use).

  18. I NEVER seem to get the catalogs, so I stopped and picked up the 119-pager in my B&M today.

All the new jewelry was on the floor already, and some new accessories. Heirloom Flora necklace is just gorgeous IRL, Majesty Stone is way too huge IMO, but the Duchess is lovely. The new Tortoise belt will be beautiful with orange/copper/browns, it will have to satisfy me until I can justify the Tortoise Juliets.

Sale is still 20% but bare, and who cares? Can't wait til Tuesday.

  19. Thanks for sharing the code! I received the long version catalog yesterday but I did not see a free ship code!? I am a card holder and spend quite a bit on jc clothes each month. I am also wondering how they decide who gets the free shipping codes?

This is off topic but has anyone received their reward cards yet? I am thinking they should be sending them out soon.

  20. Simply JCrew -- I think the pembridge dot pencil skirt runs small. I usually wear a size 4 (or sometimes 2) and needed a size 6 in that skirt.

  21. Desert Flower I am in the same boat. Granted I haven't bought much since the Spring but that is because nothing has really been a must-have. Now that the fall line is out I'm interested in a bunch but I am so pissed off that even as a silver cardholder J.Crew can't be bothered to send me a catalog.

  22. Leanne,

Thank you so much for information on pembridge skirt.
    It was very helpful.

  23. J.Crew, if you're reading this blog:

    Time for flat shipping rates!

I am ordering less and less from J.Crew on-line because of the exorbitant shipping rates!

Same reason why I will not shop at Garnet Hill.

I spend my money at on-line retailers that have flat shipping rates or frequently have free shipping codes or have free shipping for card holders: Ann Taylor, Eddie Bauer, Talbots, Banana Republic, Gap, Nordstrom.

  24. Can anyone confirm the colors in the Evening Primrose print? On my screen it seems to be deep plum, black, gray, and olive? I'm not sure about the black part.

  25. I still haven't received the fall catalog yet. I'm a JC silver card member and haven't received the red card this past spring even though I spend a lot with them. I called them up and asked the CS, they said they were randomly selected.
I remember the old days when I would get FS or $20 off offers in my catalog but gone are those days. What's up with that J. Crew? You should treat your loyal customers well like other retailers, hint "BR"...

  26. I haven't received a catalog in forever. I have been a card member for years, spend ridiculous amounts of money on them, and they still won't send me a catalog! I called CS months ago and they said they'd send it, but still nothing. It's disappointing because I always have to go to the store to get my hands on one!

  27. I just don't understand why I cannot get on the catalog mailing list! I have tried so many times...by calling, emailing them, signing up on the website...and I have yet to receive one in the mail. SO FRUSTRATING!!!

...thanks for sharing the code, though! :)

  28. Does anyone know who the Asian model is in this catalog?
