Happy New Year! {celebrating with J.Crew?}

Happy New Year J.Crew Aficionadas & Aficionados!

I want to take a moment to wish everyone a wonderful new year! {yey!} I look forward to celebrating the up-coming 2009 J.Crew collections with you all. :)

Marietta (in this post) mentioned that she "... really enjoyed reading everyone's posts on what they wore for Christmas... it would be great to see what people are wearing for New Year's Eve and Day! :-) ". I know I have mentioned this before, but I also really enjoy these posts. I find it interesting to see how other Aficionadas and Aficionados plan on wearing certain pieces, providing me wonderful ideas for future outfits. :) So for this post, what we are planning to wear during New Years Eve and/or New Years Day? :)

For today, I plan on wearing my newly acquired Berry-trim Astrid jacket in Charcoal (Item 96309; was $248.00, now $169.99- $99.99), with the Heathered French Market Tee (Item 94178; was $39.50, now $9.99) and a solid white v-neck (Item 10662; was $34.00, now select colors $14.99 ), along with a pair of Gap's "the perfect trouser jean" and the Becca Ballet Flats in Fog White Dot (Item 97022; was $140.00, now $59.99). For New Year's Eve and New Year's day, I will most likely be wearing my comfortable pajamas. ;)

What are you planning to wear this New Year (Eve or Day)? Are you planning to go "head to toe" J.Crew or parts J.Crew?

  1. I love all your layers :)

I'm thinking my black chiffon Sofia dress with a red scarf (Balinese--non J.Crew, sorry) and my brown double-cloth lady coat for outerwear.

  2. Happy New Year, all!

I'll be wearing ivory sparkle tweed cuffed trousers, victoria ruffle tank in ivory, ivory vneck boyfriend cashmere cardi, and bright peacock skinny patent leather belt and Juliette patent midheels. If it snows like they're reporting, the trousers will be replaced with matchstick cords in sea salt. I can't wait to see what everyone else is wearing!

  3. The man in this picture has no hands! Check him out! That's some bad bad photoshop!

  4. Someone was looking for the cambridge cable crewneck in spearmint. There's a Small in the spearmint (last one) at the jcrew in roseville, CA.

  5. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I'm not sure what I'm wearing yet. We're doing a fairly lowkey New Years (dinner at a friend's house), so it'll probably be this:

New Years Outfit, cha cha cha

We have the silk duiponi skirt in champagne, a perfect v-neck in light spearmint, and the perfectly patent belt and shoes in dusty rose. And a cheapie pearl necklace from Target. Ta da!

  6. I'm going for a trilby & red polka dot boxers. That's it.

  7. Ah yes, the handless guy. :)

I'm going with the favorite-fit wool herringbone university pants in black (the ones with sparkle in them), a black cashmere turtleneck, and tall black Cole Haan boots. I'm throwing a dinner party, so I don't have to be too fancy, but I stil want some sparkle. :)

  8. O/T - J Crew changed the splash page this am 4 ways to wear the long cardigan. They have also lowered the original price of the cotton long v-neck short sleeved csrdigan from $72.00 to $59.00. Is this the way of the future when items do not sell when they first come out JC lowers the price? If this is true this will be a good lesson not to buy the new arrivals when they first come out and wait a month to see if they lower the price. It just proves their original price points are too high to begin with.

  9. Yeah, looks like there are new arrivals sprinkled about. Your usual camp shirts, paisley prints, etc. It always looks so cute when it's new!

As for today, I'm wearing the ringspun scoopneck painter tee in bright fuschia under the silver cashmere argyle tee with clover/white/fuschia (see argyle's pic!) and the cowboy jeans from a few years back with the Bromley boots. As for tonight, no clue yet!

  10. I'll be much like Alexis except that I'll have on my sherpa hoodie and sweats; both J.Crew.

  11. OT but the new January catalog is up on the J Crew website. Not too much that is new but the color pallette is lovely!!

  12. Ooh, it's going to be an interesting new year chatting with Aficionadas about the spring stuff - like the Editor Satchel (13631) - another plastic chain link bag! Love the colors I'm seeing so far, though.

  13. Good Morning Everyone! I hope you all have a very Happy and SAFE New Year's Eve! I haven't decided what I'm wearing yet...I'll post later on today, though.

Alexis: Congratulations on getting the Charcoal Berry-Trim Astrid! It's such a FABULOUS jacket, and your outfit sounds fabulous, as well! :) Btw...I know you're also a big fan of the Victoria Ruffle Cami...try it under the Berry-Trim Astrid...the two of them together are absolutely stunning! :)

  14. Good morning everyone and happy new year! :)

Thanks for sharing your outfits- I love reading them!

Anon at 12:21 AM: I think it is *great* that you have a J.Crew back-up outfit in case in snows! :) There are reports about New England getting some snow today and I was wondering if I should prepare a back up outfit too. :)

Dina: The man missing the left hand is pretty funny! Where did it go J.Crew? ;)

Chloe: Not only is your outfit gorgeous- but so are you! :) And the necklace is so pretty- I could have sworn it was from J.Crew too. :)

Kitchy7: I love the university pants- they will look great on you! Also, all the best with hosting a dinner party. :)

CasulaCrew: Thanks for the heads up on the long cardigan splash page- I will check it out! :)

Silver_Lining: Your outfit sounds great with bright fushia tee under the argyle tee! :)

JCrew Guy In Canada: I am happy to hear I won't be the only one "ringing in the new year" in comfy clothes. ;)

Anon at 7:55 AM: Thanks for the heads up, I will make a post about that! :)

FFM: Thanks for the congrats! The jacket was available in my fav color and in my size for just $59, I couldn't pass it up. Also, great tip on the Victoria under the jacket- I will definitely try it later today! :)

  15. I have to agree with most of you. Its all about JCrew comfy for tonight. Started the day with my fave Vintage Slim Selvage jeans in rinse wash, a tee and the fleece funnel neck. I'm sure by mid day one of my kids will have spilled (take your pick) jelly, soup, honey, juice, milk, ice cream, unknown substance on it so I'll have to change, but this is a comfy start.

    Happy 2009 !

  16. It's definitely going to be freezing up here, so I'll be wearing my JC hipslung jeans and maybe a dream cardigan in black.... going with the classics tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I am wearing Mr. Smiths Dark Slate candy tee, grey cashmere v-neck sweater (not JC), and cement bootcut cords. It is cold here today! Happy New Year!

  18. Anon at 7:55 AM: Thanks again for letting us know about the new catalog! I have gone ahead and created a post about it: J.Crew's New January Catalog Online To View {yey!}

    Casual-Crew: Thanks for the heads up about the cardigan/index page. :) I have made a post about this too: J.Crew's Cardigan Worn Four Ways {pretty!}

  19. Happy New Year!
Today I'm wearing a black wool mini, black ribbed tights, black JCrew booties from last season a white JCrew tissue t-neck with the JCrew dark slate candy T (decadent mints) over it. I'm having an evening at home (for a Wii bowling tourney w/ my family) so tonight I probably will just replace my mini and tights with some JCrew cords.
Hope everyone has an amazing and safe NYE!!! oh - and boohoo for no NYE promo today. I really expected them to do something extra today.

  20. Forget to say - all of your outfits sound great!

  21. Antique gold sequin tank with Citizens bootcut dark rinse (that ate tight, thanks to holiday partying!) to dinner at a Brazilian restaurant. Maybe an ivory wool wrap in case the restaurant is chilly. Still figuring out the shoes - it's snowing here around the Great Lakes!

  22. We are staying in tonight for a quiet dinner at home, but I'd like to look nice for New Year...WTS
I am wearing tissue Sequin Tank in black, merino glass button cardi, hip slung jeans, with metalic mary janes and metalic belt. Simple!

  23. Happy New Year, everyone! :-)

For today I am wearing the peacock pencil skirt, Charmeuse Lace Trim Cami in light silver (from Ann Taylor), cashmere ruffle cardigan in light spearmint, and tall black Via Spiga boots. It's freezing here in NY today, so I am also wearing my lady day coat in black with a chunky wool floral scarf from Anthropologie and cream cashmere gloves. :-)

As for tomorrow, most likely spending the day in comfy scottie dog pj bottoms and a red henley.

Have a fabulous and safe New Years!

  24. I think I'm staying in most of today, just re-working my closet (to fit more JC! ha!). I'll probably just wear a pair of matchstick jeans/cords with a graphic tee and a cardi. Nothing exciting, unfortunately!

    ReplyDelete
  25. That brown & yellow dress in the picture is now $59 plus 30% off, down from $350 - I hope no one put down that much for it. I saw it back in October in a store, and couldn't believe the original retail price.

    ReplyDelete
  26. That outfit with the Berry Astrid jacket is so cute! I just went to the web site but the jacket and the tee are sold out. :( Does anyone know where I could get the charcoal one in grey, prob size 2???

    ReplyDelete
  27. I went comfy at work today.... Maggie Jacket in Ivory, perfect fit tank in black, some fairly dark Joe's Jeans, and super comfy black Puma slip ons. My husband and I are just chilling at home tonight, so the Maggie will probably be replaced with one of my fleece hoodies. :)

  28. I decided on my outfit for New Year's Eve. I have also decided to run out to my local J.Crew to pick up the Boucle' Astrid Jacket in Charcoal that I tried on last Friday...the store is still having 30% off of Final Sale...maybe they got in some returns, too. ;) Here is my outfit: Click Here .

I'll report back on items I see at the B&M. :)

  29. Today I'm going to wear charcoal boot-cut cords, and navy crest tshirt (from the JC outlet) with a gray ruffle neck argyle cardi (sorry JC, it's Old Navy!) Shoes are silver Tory Burch flats.

    Happy New Year everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Also keeping it simple and comfy tonight:

Merino sequin chiffon shell w/merino glass button cardi in CHA (Champagne?), Dark jeans (not JC) and metallic Lulu flats.

Happy New Year everyone, and thanx Alexis for this post - I love these!

  31. Jeff - haha, too funny! I can picture it. ;)

  32. Today I am wearing the metallic-flecked pencil skirt with the white Victoria blouse, lots of gold necklaces, cropped red Theory jacket (sorry JCrew) and gold Lucie heels. It's a work day for me in my conservative office so I've gone as festive as I can today.

My husband will be back tonight and it is a surprise where we are going so I hope it is somewhere fun. Once I know where we are headed, I can decide what to wear.

  33. Hi, I've been waiting to read this post, as I actually have a real fund raising NYE party to attend tonight - semi-formal and may need some advise.

Today, I'm wearing the Dream Simone Cardigan in Heather Graphite over the Perfect Fit Flower Tank in Bright Poppy with some Matchstick Jeans and the Fleur Suede Flats in Deep Violet. Everything but the jeans arrived today. I was so delighted taking these bargains out of the box, trying them on - loving them, steaming everything and right back on again! I need a suggestion for a belt - any ideas?

Tonight, I plan on wearing the Sketchbook Roses Print Skirt and probably the Bateau Cashmere Sweater in Deep Violet with some vintage Pearls. Can't decide on shoes - I have the Perfect Patent Leather Peep Toes in a few colors, the Silk Rosette Capri Sandals in all colors - hmmmm (and of course hundreds of other pairs of J Crew shoes from the last 5 years). Any suggestions here would be greatly appreciated and thanks everyone for the great posts!
Happy New Year! (It's so cold!)

  34. I'm celebrating the new year at home wearing my Silver-sand jacquard jacket layered over a white tank top, matchstick jeans, metallic gold high heels and belt. Casual with a bit of sparkle. :)

Have a happy New Year everyone!

  35. Hi everyone! I made it over to my local J.Crew today (the mall was VERY crowded) and found a couple of fantastic deals. I found the Vita Cami in Silver for $38, and I'll be wearing it tonight: Click Here . I did get the Charcoal Boucle' Astrid, and also found the Rectangular Gold-Link Bracelet seen Here for $30...it's much prettier IRL, btw. The store had plenty of bootcut and matchstick cords, quinn camis, velvet ecoles in rhubarb, tons of perfect-fit flower tanks, a pair of Dark Poppy Juliets size 8, a Charcoal Boucle' Astrid Jacket size 8, a long Sea Glass gown...I think it was size 8. All sale merchandise was 30% off and Final.

Hope you all have a safe and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'll be wearing the snowflake pajamas in grey and white - not the ones with color - a v-neck tissue t-shirt, and the michelle merino in white - the one a post was just created for above.

I'm not getting out there with the crowds and the drunks. I am staying home and warm!

Hope all of you that are going out have a fun and safe time!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'll be wearing something from J.Crew tonight: the ivory Pembridge dot skirt with a black sweater. Maybe not the best or most fashionable choice - my friends throw an annual New Year's party I didn't think I'd be able to go to this year so I didn't pack a dress. Luckily, I'd ordered the skirt during JINGLE or HOHOHO or something and had it shipped to my parents' house for the holidays or I'd be seriously underdressed tonight!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Today, I wore the shoe tee, chino cooper jacket in khaki, and bootcut jeans. Tonight, I'm in sweats and a sweatshirt! :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Today I wore the cashmere keepsake caridgan in black with the bright fuschia quinn cami, a pair of Joe's jeans, the bright fuschia argyle socks and the silver parisian mary janes. Staying in tonight so comfort all the way in sweats and a cashmere hoodie! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Well, my husband is taking me to a skating party tonight, oh joy. I shouldn't complain, it is usually a lot of fun but I can't really dress up. It's cold here so I'll be wearing the flannel-lined chinos from last year in navy, ivory cashmere turtleneck, regal purple puffer and ivory toascana shearling hat and gloves from last year.

    Happy New Year everyone!
