J.Crew Email Reminder: Ends Today. 30% Off Your Purchase + Free Shipping. Online Only.

J.Crew sent an email today reminding us that they are offering 30% off and *free shipping* on orders of $150+ with promo code JINGLE. This offer expires, today, 12/16/08.

Have you been able to take advantage of this offer or unable to (either you are waiting post-holidays to shop or because the site was down yesterday)? :) Do you think there will be another promotion being offered tomorrow? If so, what do you think it might be. ;)

  1. off on a tangent... :) but ann taylor loft is offering a buy one get one FREE promo for full-priced items with the code FREE4U. What a great deal! just thought i'd let y'all know since i know there are some ATL fans out there...

  2. I think I'm pretty much done w/ the online thing, I'll stick a fork in it. Too much hassle w/ the errors, etc. I'll stick to the B/M for now.

  3. OT, but I have a Heather Nickel Maggie in size 6 that is going back this afternoon. If anyone wants it let me know. sumandjosh08@hotmail.com

  4. I see the Ecoles are on significant sale now. Can anyone comment on the different versions velvet/herringbone/tweed? How is the fit? Are people happy with the ones they purchased?

Trying to decide whether to add one to my cart to take it over the limit and get the promo...

    TIA

  5. Are there any B&Ms that are doing percent off, and then the JINGLE promo on top, like some did last week with HOHOHO? I'm trying to decide if I should bother packing my toddler up and braving the frigid temps.

I did break down and make a purchase last night. I noticed the cord peplum jacket was down to $39.99 before the promo. I'd had this in the back of my mind forever, so I added the small Oslo and pulled the trigger. The Oslo will probably end up as a ride along unless I fall head over heels. Kudos to whoever coined the term ride along, by the way! I've been giggling about that one off and on for a couple days now.

Hey, Alexis, maybe there should be a glossary in the sidebar, with "B&M" and "ridealong!"

  6. I'd love to say I'll be taking advantage of this new promotion, but after three canceled orders in one week, and four instances of the wrong item being shipped in four separate orders, I'm done. I know, I know, people say that but then they always go back. Seriously though - I have two bags full of clothing that has to be returned now and, despite getting a $25 gift card out of the whole mess (which really doesn't make up for the numerous mistakes and guffaws) - I'm just done.

Oh, and as a bonus kick to the face, the order I just received (in which they left out the Alessia flats in black that I'd ordered), they were kind enough to include one of those handwritten notes from Mickey. Continued loyalty to J.Crew? Not anymore.

  7. Everything I want is gone, color and size. I did find a black tartine crewneck last night, but it disappeared by the time I got to checkout. I really just don't see anything more that I want or need until they do stock updates. Sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I placed a few orders with this promotion and HOHOHO. One shipped and I got everything, the other two say "released" but will hopefully ship today. Only one item canceled so far on all three orders. Something I really wanted though :(

    ReplyDelete
  9. Rats on Parade--I hear your pain. But I appreciate the LOL "bonus kick in the face" nice! Ha,ha:)

    ReplyDelete
  10. I spent too much with the last 20% off plus free shipping promotion.. gotta stop myself!

Does anyone have the navy cashmere hacking jacket? I think it's from last year. I want it but I'm wondering... what do people wear it with? Thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I have 7 packages from HOHOHO and Extra20 due to arrive today. The UPS hates me:)

    ReplyDelete
  12. I have been unable to check out on line.... anyone else having this issue??

    ReplyDelete
  13. Em, if I remember correctly it's not cashmere, just a lightweight 3 season wool, and not a particulary nice wool. I ordered it last year and returned it.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Has anyone tried the petite Victoria Ruffle shirt? I am just wondering how it compares to the regular. (I'm 5"1', so I think I could wear either). I have tried the regular, so I know how that fits.

The color I want is available now in petite (but back ordered in the regular)

    ReplyDelete
  15. I meant Victoria cami, not shirt - sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  16. LOL, rats on parade, bonus kick in the face, that's my laugh for the day! Only JC could do it that good. I tried on the ecole velvet and it just fit wierd, IMO. JC jackets are just cut kinda strange for me, so boxy. I tried on the Victoria cami, and the 4 fit, but I ordered my usual size 6, a bit roomier, I have not been able to try on a petite, bec. none of the BMs had the petite. Just ordered the fuschia w/ the JINGLE promo. Hope my order is accurate, and no bonus kicks happen. Its kinda like Vegas, where you're in a crap shoot.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I have not used the JINGLE promo and I probably won't unless the items I am watching re-stock. I am still waiting to receive the orders I placed from the HOHOHO sale...some have shipped, others are still pending. That annoys me b/c I need to receive them before I go on vacation in Jan.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I haven't ordered anything this time around...I've been considering a ring, but really don't want to have to add a ride along in order to get the free shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  19. also OT, BR is having $50 off a purchase of $125 or more, in store only today and tomorrow I think.

    ReplyDelete
  20. What does it mean when an order is in "released" status? I have two orders from last week still showing as released.

    ReplyDelete
  21. The Madeline coat I ordered last night has now gone down in price !Not sure if I should just reorder or try to get a price adjustment.

    ReplyDelete
  22. OMG! i just order a few things last night and now they all got reduced EVEN MORE!!!! so i called jcrew to get that price adjustment and NOPE they wont do it. i seriously just ordered it like 8 hrs ago!!! and so i try to cancel it. but NOPE cant do it. so she tells me to wait till it comes in, return it and order them again with the new prices. BAHHHH

jcrew! im furious! oh well now you'll have to deal with my returns! it would be so much easier to just cancel and return! LAME!

    ReplyDelete
  23. OT-FYI the metallic guava Thompson Tote is the same color as crackle metallic sherbet pumps-HTH someone:)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Morning all!

suilove posted a reply to my inquiry about the Brushed gold-lame skirt in the other 30% off post from yesterday, but I was still wondering about fit. Was it TTS for you (or anyone)? I'm between a 6 and 8 in JC, and was considering the 8 so it wouldn't pinch (I have hips!) and sit low enough. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anon 9:24,

I have both herringbone and velvet ecoles and I think they are TTS. I usually wear 0 or xs and I got 0 for those jackets and they fit very nicely. I occasionally wear petite size as well, but arms tend to be too short for me, so I stick to regular size for tops. I like both velvet and herringbone, but I get more everyday wear out of herringbone just because I feel like velvet is too dressy sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  26. No go on the price adjustment for my Madeline so I'll just have to reorder.

    ReplyDelete
  27. anon at 10:58
can i ask what you ordered and the price dropped?
i'm just curious as I don't see any price reductions.
i'm also curious to see what people are buying, as i'm looking as hard as i can and don't see anything!

    ReplyDelete
  28. OT: If anyone is interested I just posted a NWT Charcoal Berry-Trim Astrid in size 4 on the Weekly Exchange.

  29. Has anyone bought the Duchamp jacket. What do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I just received yet another order with an item missing. I am getting so sick and tired of this. In each of the previous orders they have either refunded my CC or searched for the missing item and over nighted it to me for free. I just hope that they can do the same this time. Grrrr.

    ReplyDelete
  31. anon @ 11:11,
hi i got the velvet ecole jacket says 78 but click on it its only 56!!! and dream turtlenecks the 49's went down to 29.99 and the cord trousers some down to 19.99 and 29.99.

    ReplyDelete
  32. AH I'm SO EXCITED! I found a steal hidden on the website. I want to share so badly, yet I don't want to broadcast it and have someone overnight it and get it taken away from me. (I'm sorry for being selfish) All I can say is that if there is a past item you want, try searching for it instead of relying on what comes up in the sale section. I just got a sold out item from last summer (and yes it really was there... I called the order in and the person helping me saw the inventory)

    ReplyDelete
  33. anyone have sizing input for the silk dupioni skirt?

    ReplyDelete
  34. The Jamie bag (Sienna and black) has been reduced to $395.

    ReplyDelete
  35. the BRIGHT orange victoria cami is 59.99

    ReplyDelete
  36. The Madeline went even further onsale today, after I made I purchase yesterday. CS will credit the difference since it is within 24hrs.

    ReplyDelete
  37. SW are you sure? i called and the mean lady wouldnt give me a difference? did u get one?! im calling back!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anonymous at 11:21am is right. For some reason, using the search function brings up more items than if you just cruise the sale area. Strange but true.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I don't understand why JCrew doesn't make all of their sale merchandise visible through the sale website. Do they know that items are "hidden"? Do they want these items to be "hidden"? Why wouldn't they want them to be visible and for people to purchase them?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oh, I called once said they would, but I would have to buy something else to reach $150. The 2nd time I called, said they would credit the difference no need to buy more. Yay!
I was very nice, kinda sleepy sounding though. Call with a cold, it helps.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Argh, the pain. Things show up only to say they are out of stock and their great gift finders can find something else for me. ARGH!!!!!!! I am spending way too much time on the computer and not getting anything else done. How do I stop??????

    ReplyDelete
  42. thanks sw!
luckily this time i got a person that knew what they were doing. i swear that first lady i called was so rude and totally had no idea about customer service. i even re-ordered like she told me too but the other lady just canceled it for me and gave me the difference. thank goodness they have SOME people that are good at what they do.

    ReplyDelete
  43. It is still frusterating to get some who honor more than one discount and some who don't.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I'm glad you were able to get through. I hope the Mad in Purple is not hideous, since it is really on sale and available still.
    Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Someone on the purse forum has said that J Crew will have 40 per cent off in store from 12/19-12/21. She wasn't sure whether it would reflect online since she overheard a manager speaking to a sales assistant about how to set up the store.

    ReplyDelete
  46. someone posted yesterday on another thread that that was going to be the discount as well 40% the 19-21. I'm betting tomorrow and wednesday there won't be a discount.

    ReplyDelete
  47. There will be a 40% post-Christmas sale, with new sizes and colors online. The stores will do a 50%.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Is this $150.00 before discounts? Or is it $150.00 AFTER the 30%--meaning you need at least $195.00 before discounts.

    ReplyDelete
  49. No you only need $150 prior to discount for the 30%. But CS lady let me go with $129, since the price was just reduced. I think I paid $100 with taxes for that coat.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Wow. Last week I ordered a painting for my brother's Christmas present from Novica, a National Geographic-affiliated website that sells the work of thousands of craftspeople around the world, without any problems at all, and it arrived correctly and everything. Today I received this email:

Last week we were blessed with a tremendous number of gift shoppers, but unfortunately we were not able to support the traffic and our website became too slow to use. We would like to apologize to you if you tried to purchase from us.
We have since made some improvements and the Novica site is much faster again.
We wouldn't be serving our artists to the best of our abilities if we didn't encourage you to come back and give us another try.
With this in mind, please accept an additional $5.00 in Novica Points, available for use on any Novica treasure.

If J. Crew did this, I would fall over in my chair.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I've been pretty good staying away from Jcrew sales since I know that it'll be so much better after Christmas. However, I wasn't able to resist and grabbed a few items yesterday when I had to use up my rewards cards and the 25% thank you promo code. I bought some items on the sales section at 30%, so for under $200, I got two sweaters, a peacoat, and the sherpa hoodie. I'm happy with the purchase.
That'll be it for now until December 26th!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Danielle, IMO the victoria cami in petite runs kind of small considering that their other camis in regular 0 run sooooo big...

    ReplyDelete
  53. actually in regards to the discounted prices, there are a few more. you should click on the picture to see it bc i just discovered some other sweaters that are a bit cheaper. some cambridge cables, the olivia cable v neck, dream turtlenecks.. see what else you can find..

    ReplyDelete
  54. Marta B:

I typically wear a size 8 in JC pants but would have purchased the brushed lame skirt in a 6. I think it runs a little big in the waste.

And for the Anon who asked about the silk dupioni skirt, my thoughts about fit is the same as the brushed gold lame. It runs a little big in the waste so you may want to size down.

Comparing the two, I ended up with two of the silk dupionis and passed on the brushed lame. The fabric of the lame is beautifully, but the lame is stiffer than the silk, which makes it flare out more through the hips. I thought the drape of the silk was a more flattering fit through the hips.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Oops! Waist, not waste. Well maybe waste after more holiday parties! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  56. Anon at 9:24 a.m.: I found the velvet ecole to be quite fitted in the petite sizes. My berry astrid is a P8, but I would have needed a P10 in the velvet ecole.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Thanks SW, re the discount.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Haven't purchased anything lately, due to the constant website glitches and because I'll be out of town until after New Years. I'll probably miss out on some major sales after Xmas/NY though :(

    ReplyDelete
  59. thanks everyone for sharing the new markdowns you found. :-) The Astrid bouclé jacket is now $69.99 when you click through.

    ReplyDelete
  60. kitchy7,
Yes, now that is TRUE customer service at its finest. One thing JCrew could learn from...some crappy little note in peoples boxes just doesn't cut it.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Jamie bag is now $395 in great colors – black and light brown. I bought a grey Jamie at the store last night for $130 since it was on 30% sale and I used my 25% off card. This bag is very nice but I would not pay more than $200 for it. It does not look like a $500 purse. I think it looks better in the catalog and online than in real life.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I smell some deep discounts coming our way! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  63. I also have an order in Released status. It has been that way since Thursday.

Can anyone say what it means to be in Released status?

    Thanks!

  65. FYI: The elusive Ringspun chiffon graphic tee is available for $19.99 in sizes med, large, and x-large. :)

    ReplyDelete
  66. Other discounts you have to click through to see are some of the cashmere sweaters that are showing as 119.99 Are down to 99.99.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Any thoughts on the Metallic houndstooth Marie jacket? I usually don't go for metallic but it was on sale... :) I need something to replace the J. Crew peacoats I always end up buying. Is it too shiny? And I can't tell from the picture if it flares out a lot at the bottom. I'm pretty short...

    ReplyDelete
  68. i had a chance to get the houndstooth bow cardigan size m in my cart and then the website went down.... i hope it saved that item

    ReplyDelete
  69. Hi All! Does anyone have any insight on the short suede brewster boots? I bought both colors because I thought the deal was just too good to pass up, but I am thinking of bringing them back. I guess any thoughts on how to wear them, or if any of you like them would be helpful. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  70. I just went to my B&M store (Towson, MD) and saw a gorgeous cami that is similar in style to the Cherie and Elizabeth. It looks like it might be an early spring preview item since it came in very spring colors (white, oyster pink, and champagne). Has anyone else seen this at their store? I tried looking online but didn't find it. Retail price is $98. I should have gotten the style number but I had both of my toddlers with me so I couldn't stay too long...

    ReplyDelete
  71. Alexis: the ringspun chiffon graphic tee has been available in most sizes for a long time. The main photo on that page IS the rose tee; however, if you look at the size/color options, the only one available is the "Seize the Day" version.

I feel your excitement though... Every time that popped up on search the last few weeks, my heart stopped! But the actual item available has always been just the "seize" version and not the rose.

    ReplyDelete
  72. ^I got really excited, too, when I read Alexis's note...but just the same old "seize the day". ;)

    Thanks though, Alexis!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Has anyone seen or ordered the metallic houndstooth Phoebe jacket? it looks beautiful but not sure of the fit and if it's too shiny. It looks just like the wool Astrid jackets. The price is $99, not sure if i should go for it.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Rosie: good catch! I didn't realize there was another tee (the sea salt/Seize the Day) available. :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. Wow then woe. I just got one of my HOHOHO orders, complete and whole, yea!!! But the sherpa hoodie I got for DH is much darker red than pictured and the Alessia MJs are wicked narrow, boo. But the Men's purple cashmere cardi is gorgeous, so I'm keeping one of three. How I love not final sale, how my credit card hates it!!! I really have bought more, even figuring in the few returns.

PS To be honest, not only are the MJs a bad fit, I am demoralized that some JCAs reported paying less than $40 in store, when they're almost $80 with discount on the website. They are totally going back.

    ReplyDelete
  76. anona 9:24 am - I bought the velvet ecole in p0 (since I'm consistently a p0) and actually found it to be a bit too snug in the shoulders (everywhere else was fine) to the point that lifting my arms above my head felt pretty tight. I think a p2 would have fitted better.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I'm curious what Jcrew will offer closer to Christmas. They must be running out of out sale items. Does anyone think they'll do 50% sale soon? Not sure if I should order today with 30% or take my chances and see what tomorrow offerings are. A CS rep told me last week that they will be having coupon codes for the remainder of the holiday shopping.

    ReplyDelete
  78. For the last 4 hours I have been unable to check-out online. What gives?

    ReplyDelete
  79. BTW, if anyone is looking for the candy tee in the bright pink color (sorry, forgot the color name), the Towson, MD store has a whole bunch in all sizes. (410 321 6589). They have it at $29.99 plus an additional 30% off.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Same thing at San Diego Fashin Valley store. They have many Licorice Tshirts in bright pink. I asked to match online price of $29.99 and they said it is matches to $29.50. Works for me! :) They have many different sized, including Xsmall.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Has anyone had any experience with the Jersey Sara dress? I had ordered it back in August but it was waitlisted for so long that I finally canceled my order. It is back on the website now though! I'm just wondering how it fits.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Who is a lucky person here who wears size L? Cashmere Peyton dress now is $59.99!!!! Click on the listing to see the price. So in size L JC still has this dress in grey. They have yellow and light green in Medium.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I think the velvet Ecole jacket fits very strange. It's very fitted in the waist and arms but looks big between the bust and sides. I think it runs really short too. Now I know why it's marked down so low. I usually wear a 4 but ordered the six and it feels too tight in the back and arms.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Why do many items have a "sale price" below the price that is printed in red... yet is the exact same price as the starting price?! anyone figure this out yet?

    ReplyDelete
  85. The cashmere butterfield is 299 when you click through--after the 30% it's almost half price. I think there's only M left though...

    ReplyDelete
  86. are you all connecting to the site right now??? Mine has said it has been down for at least the past 25 minutes....

    Is there somethin wrong maybe?

    ReplyDelete
  87. For people interested in metallic houndstooth--unless you want strangers to stop and fix their hair in your jacket--stay away. I bought and returned a mh Clea, and was shocked at the extreme shininess. It was tacky. There's no other way to put it. It's one thing to have metallic threads woven into the fabric, and quite another to have a jacket that looks like someone sprayed lacquer evenly and thickly over the jacket.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I put in a Jingle order yesterday morning and received my confirmation email late last night. The items I ordered are for myself and aren't gifts with Xmas deadlines. Should a better deal come around post-holiday season, I have no qualms re-ordering the items at the lower price and returning the first-time-around order at the B&M. The return could be a hassle, but at least 1. I don't have to worry about the sizes & colors I want being out of stock, and 2. if the later deals are final sale, I can re-order at ease knowing I really want them.

    ReplyDelete
  89. OT- really quick question about Cashmere Lori Henley. Fit/thickness/size?General comments? Go or no go?
    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  90. I know a few people have commented on the fit of the stadium-cloth Shipley coat, but I can't seem to find those particular threads... How does this coat run? I feel as though I remember someone saying it ran a little big? I am debating between sizes (I'm usually right in between sizes) so I'm not sure if I should go up or down on this one...

    TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Marta B., I wear an 8 in J.Crew pants and a 6 in almost all of their skirts and have the Brushed Lame skirt in a 6. I second anon @ 12:44, it's a bit big in the waist.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Lauren H, I have the jeresy Sara dress in the slate color.

Pros: Washes well. Cute. Comfortable. Not maternity-wear looking.

Cons: Shorter on me than pictured (like, not even cloe to knee-length, though I am 5'8"). Low cut, so if you have a large chest, you will be on display (I only wear it when my husband is with me or with a cardi for thi season).

I like the dress but I have not gotten much use of it due to the "con" reasons. It would work well for someone on the shorter side with a smaller bust.

    ReplyDelete
  93. When did the shimmy dress go on sale?!
It has been sold out in my size for a long time, but today I decided to click on it to see if it had re-stocked... it's sold out in every size... yet it says it's on sale for 169?!

    ReplyDelete
  94. Slastena,

I just ordered the Lori henley this morning when I noticed the huge markdown. I couldn't resist it at that price! I also ordered the camel Glenbrae boots after I saw them on you on your blog! Loved them on you-so thank you! Love your blog, too!

    ReplyDelete
  95. I'm sorry that this is OT, but I need some advice on a small situation. I am wearing a Merino cardigan today, and noticed that 2 holes have developed on the cardigan- one under the arm and the other on the front of the sweater. I am sure that I did not cause the holes, but should I try to return it to the store? I had the same sweater, in a different color, on last night and ended up with a hole under the arm as well. And it was the first time I had worn it! I could take them to the cleaners to be repaired, but is in the principle of the matter. Should I try to return them? This is disheartening to me...

    ReplyDelete
  96. My HOHOHO order of 3 items arrived today without 2 items (lulu peeptoes in tulip and gold metallic flats). Only received the astrid "droopy flower" jacket. I'm fuming!! The lulus are sold out in my size.

    ReplyDelete
  97. jbird-what sweater was it?!?! Not the tartine I hope-I ordered a few of those, although I know they are thin. I would call and explain and see if you can return.

  98. Does anyone have any tips on laundering the black cords? I have to do a pre-hemming launder/shrink, but don't want the black to fade. Does anyone own the black corduroy?

It's the Michelle Merino Cardigan. I truly love the style and fit, but this is really agitating me!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Anon at 2:53 PM:
What size did you order? It looked to me like it would fit TTS , so I went with that. I buy XS in all crewnecks and t-necks, but have to do S or even M in cardigans to prevent unsightly "gaping". I do hope it does not run overly huge. Also, putty seems to be a popular color, so I did not want to risk not getting it (Heirloom Henley in Putty was sold out ages ago at full price).

Congratulations on Glenbrae boots- they are truly magnificent. Did you get them with shearling cuff or without ( they are identical, BTW, except that cuff)?

    ReplyDelete
  102. For Anonymous about black cords: there is laundry detergent for dark colors. My son uses it for all his dark Ts and jeans and it seems to work well. I think you still lose a bit of dye the first time but over time I think it is easier on darks. We use the Tide one but there are other brands.

  104. i've never ordered cashmere sweaters from jcrew, and this year i've ordered three. Im done, we will see how they go! (I haven't had them shipped to me yet) I got the Heirloom Henley, Shawl Collar and Turtleneck. Particularly the Heirloom henley and shawl collar looked heavier than past jcrew cashmere sweaters. the turtleneck looks like it could be thin, but I will see.

    ReplyDelete
  105. So I know this is a long shot but does anyone know if Jcrew has any more lexington jacket (blazer) left? I saw it online a few hours ago but it's out. Thanks!

  106. Hi there, Anyone have a review or thoughts on the Bria Cami? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  107. I have only received one of my TURKEY orders so far. There is no tracking number for the second and also none for my HOHOHO orders. The first TURKEY did not have a tracking # either so hopefully things are still going to arrive.

I think I'll stay away from order anymore until after Christmas.

  108. The large Peyton in grey is sold out. Other click on markdowns: some colors of the merino ruffleneck and Melanie cardis are cheaper. Thanks for mentioning the Lori, Slastena, I decided to try it in black.

Last night I ordered the corduroy peplum jacket, and when I went to my local B&M today, an SA had the same jacket on! It looked cute on her. I'm just glad I waited all these months to order since it looks like a cute and fun but not overly trendy piece I can wear for awhile. Three cheers for percent off and free shipping!!!

  111. anon 3:20; The 3 cashmere sweaters that you mentioned are all of the same weight 12 gauge, they are soft but thin, you can see through the lighter colors. Nice styles though.

  112. I think the Bria Cami is cute but is not for me. I don't care for the fluttery look.

I just rec'd the Watercolor Crawford Cami. It fits true to size and feels very silky/nice. The colors are darker in real life. Bra straps are peaking out the top shoulders; I have to wear nude bra & put them in check under the cami from time to time.

  113. thd shawl collar is a thicker knit it's really nice i wore mine today which is in rhubarb. wish i bought it in more colors.

  114. I think I saw the metallic houndstooth jacket in store and did not think it was that shiny. It has variations of shiny pewter threads but not mirror shiny like the astrid shown online. It looks like silver and dark gray combined. I think it could look really cute with black pants or even jeans. i love the way the model wears it online. Hope that helps.

  115. Maggie May- thanks! I'll have to look for the laundry detergent for blacks. It sounds like it helps.

  116. Anon at 3:18pm:

I know lots of other people have had issues with the cashmere sweaters, but I have bought probably 7 or 8 cashmere sweaters in the last two years, and have not had a problem with a single one! With the exception of the lighter colors being a bit transparent, I have found all of them to be thick enough to be warm, but thin enough to layer - and the pilling has mostly been a non-issue. I've experienced slight pilling in underarm/side-of-the-bust areas, but I find that to be true of almost any sweater after 6 or 7 wears. In contrast, I have returned FOUR dream sweaters this year, because they pilled HORRIBLY after just one wear. I would highly recommend their cashmere sweaters!

    ReplyDelete
  117. Anon @ 3:36,

It's my belief that there were two distinct batches of metallic herringbone at least, maybe more. The first ones that came out were what you describe, but there are other batches that are slick shiny. You never know which you're going to get.

  118. SW 11:46am-LOL! call with a cold! Hilarious! and that Anon that follows with the excessive computer and getting nothing else done?? That's me too!! HELP ME!!

    kitchy7-
now that's true customer service--I love J Crew product and I actually love their CSR's but the way they are handling the website and pretending it is n't such an f-in mess is just WRONG! Ignore it and it will go away? I don't think so!!

    Anon 1:32-
I just fell over my chair laughing--I didn't know what I was gonna find when I cut and paste your link!! TOO FUNNY-THX for the LAUGH:)

Anon 1:43 I bought both colors too--fit was fine (heel slippage but actually quite comfy in my normal sz) BUT I do not care for them with matchsticks tucked in and with pants over the top--they are, meh. SO back they go-even at a BARGAIN price! Too many other bargains I gotta pay for--gotta be choosy now:0)

PHOEBE METALLIC-I actually love the metallic Phoebe--go for it! Great price too! Fits like floppy flower-I wore my same size. HTH

JBird--why are you even questioning a return of TWO holey sweaters! Do it.

Anon 2:55 I feel your pain--it's just beyond irritating to lose something you finally bit the bulet on. The web is supposedly REAL TIME due to the upgrade but guess what--it didn't work! They might as well use the old system.

Golden Olive--yes, very pretty. I read a somewhat neg review on Champagne Wishes website (see side links on this home page)regarding the Crawford but worth a try! I would love to hear about it if you get it.

    You can find Lexington's Ebay:)

  119. anon 3:34: The description is the same as the cashmere tee "Luxurious Italian cashmere from a world-famous Italian mill in a fine 12-gauge knit." The thickness would be in the collar, and maybe the pockets that would make seem heavier.

  120. Thanks for the ebay tip but I have pretty much given up on ebay as 99% of the time if they have what I want it is a reseller. And I refuse to purchase from a reseller. Doing the swap thing here is cool, because we are just getting rid of one thing or another for one reason or another... But the people who buy all they can to raise the price- I refuse to let them get my money.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I have purchased 3 cashmere items this year from J Crew. The cashmere v-neck cardigan seam is coming undone at the neck after wearing it 2x. The cashmere tee in heather silver is thin, pills, losing its shape also after wearing it a couple of times. The the cashmere hat is pilling and the side seam looks like it is going to come undone. I will never purchase their cashmere again.

Makes sense - fewer people buying and sending means fewer drivers needed.

  130. Anon re: Lexington That's your perogative but that's a very cut-throat attitude with regard to Ebay. I am guessing you don't want it that bad. Not all Ebay sellers are re-sellers. I can easily tell the difference between someone that has one in their closet and has never worn it--look at the other items they are selling and it will be obvious. You asked about getting it via JC--the jacket is from last year and the likelihood of getting it from JC is not good. Maybe someone on here can help but otherwise Ebay is the way to go.

    ReplyDelete
  131. I agree with Bugpin. I sell occasionally on ebay, when I have something sitting in my closet that I haven't worn or a purchase that I have changed my mind about. Not to make a fast buck, but just to recoup my "losses." You can easily tell the professional reseller from sellers like me by looking at the items they're selling/have sold. No way I'm a reseller if I'm also selling used Gymboree clothing for $10 a piece.

  132. I read the review about the Crawford blouse before but my question was regarding the coloring, and what complexion looks best in the Golden Olive.

I've ordered the Crawford in two sizes and two colors so I will hopefully satisfy my curiosity about this blouse!!

    Oh, just ordered two more pairs of matchstick light (or crisp) blue jeans, & two more cropped matchsticks. Loving them! What a difference after wearing pants that aren't fitted in the thighs. I feel like a teenager again! (Not really but kinda!! ;}

  133. Dina,

UPS man just came with 7 JC Boxes. It's pouring rain, but he didn't complain. And everything is just as ordered. Awesome!!!

The Melanie button cuff crew is a great sweater. At 29.99 and 30% off, it is a steal.

Maggie in nickel is very blah on me. I will have to try the other colors I ordered.

Double-serge pencil skirt in blue is very bright. Not sure about this until I try it on.

    Snow leopard blouse looks good.

Tartine cardigan is a steal, only $14 with discount. It gapes at the bust but I will have to find something pretty to wear under it.

Tuesday wool peacoat is very nice quality, but not sure if I need yet another peacoat.

    Hope this review helps.

  136. Anon @2:57 - just washing your black cords inside out, set your washer on bright colors (cold wash) with not too much detergent (oversudsing leads to fading), and let them air dry on a clothesline or hanger. Snow leopard blouse is beautiful. Funny thing. It buttons down the back and I unbuttoned a few to pull it over my head. Buttons ended up in the front for an entirely different look. Don't know if I would wear it that way.

As far as fit, a slight bit on the larger side of things but beautifully shaped to show off your waist. The bust? Well, I am a little on the larger side, so it fits perfectly. Might want to size down if you are smaller busted. HTH.

  147. Anon@4:44-thank you! That is great advice, and I am taking it as we speak. My cords are on their second shrink, as I always do two before they're off to the tailor. 152. Anon @ 5:25, ITA, love, love, the bootcut fav fit cords this year. I got the faded cement and aubergine, in my usual size 6, and they fit great. The SA said I should size down, bec. they will stretch out, but, I don't like my pants that tight. Love that the bootcut is more of a straight leg. I'm thinking about the seasalt now. 153. I shouldn't have purchased anything really since I had already bought a bunch of things with the Turkey and HOHOHO code but a bunch of things that I had previously purchased (but haven't worn and had only received this week) got marked down and since they won't do an adjustment for me, I had no choice but to reorder. Moreover, the CSR told me to do that. Anyway, I bought a bunch of things today. That said, I'm done, done, done, as far as buying for a while! I'm soooo weak!!!

  154. Nope - still waiting for 50% off - even if it's after Christmas. Nothing that I like that isn't on sale anyway. Isn't everyone sick of buying sweaters and coats yet??? I still have plenty I haven't even worn yet, and the temps. have been pretty mild this winter.

  156. Anon@6:10- 5:25 here. Yeah, I learned my lesson on sizing down last year. Once they shrunk, they were wearable and comfy, but just a bit too snug in the waist. This year, I stuck with my regular size, and it looks like the cement will be perfect and the black will be a bit big. Both, however still fit great....they're just roomy and not like jeans, which I like snug.

I have the seasalt on order and on the way. You're lucky you got aubergine!

  161. I think JCrew needs to do better in this economy. My friends and I are not buying anything until sales are JUST sales, NO GIMMICKS. I like the 30% off, but I'm not buying unless it's free shipping as well. Plus, other stores are slashing and burning their prices. JCrew needs to go to 40 or 50% off before I start grabbing my credit cards!

  164. OH.MY.GOD.

I have just taken delivery of what I think may be my all time favorite J Crew purchase. And I've been shopping at J Crew since the 80's. I can't stop saying OMG.

I have just received the Janelle Cashmere Sweater. It is heavy, sumptuous, and soft. The design is classic in a 'hanging out on the terrace at Lucca's place outside Milan' sort of way. It is casual, but looks like MONEY. The color is delicious. The wooden buttons go all the way up, so it can be a henley, a crewneck, or a turtleneck. The buttons are sewn into a subtly contrasting silky fabric, which gives some structure and heft to the collar, which looks good in every position, whether it be buttoned up all the way, or unbuttoned by a few buttons.

I'm wearing it with my Acorn Matchstick Cords, Cole Haan Tortoise OT Ellys, and a Marc Jacobs soft Ivory handbag...oh and pearl studs with gold backs. The only thing I'm missing is a cashmere warm brown and ivory houndstooth scarf that I have yet to find.

This sweater reminds me of things I've seen at Loro Piana, but could never afford. Thanks J Crew! Please make more items that are 'conservative luxury' like this!

  173. HELP...
I just placed my first J Crew order online for two Holiday dresses that I am not so sure I will keep. My issue is they would not let me stack discounts. I tried two seperate CS reps and the both said "nope". I know I have seen others do it on here, so please give me your secret. Do you have an insider? Someone I could contact?
I more than likely would not have ordered if I would have known they would refuse to add my teachers discount along with the 30% JINGLE code.
    Thanks for your help!

    ReplyDelete
  174. sharkbait8574, I used to be able to combine my student discount and JC % discount. Not anymore. It was always ok until one day when they refused to do that. I was told it is no possible. They made a one time exception for that order and I have not tried again since they said "no". Same thing in stores. The SA said I cannot combine it with additional % off. It makes sense, but I was hoping I could get an additional 15% off no matter what. And then again, it depends on the SA. 2 weeks ago a SA said I could not combine my 25% off card with 30% off sale discount. And yesterday I was able to make 2 purchases using this combo. I guess my point is it depends on how lucky you are and who you get on the phone. :)

  179. sharkbait8574@yahoo.com:
I am as dissapointed as you are, but J Crew IS really reinforcing the policy of not stacking codes together. It's virtually impossible nowdays to talk someone on the phone ( or via email for that matter) into applying ed.d/c on top of any other promo ( e.g.JINGLE). Stores are still doing it, but not all, as shared by many JAs. Unless smth is royally wrong with your order, J crew won't budge. Trust me, I tried: I stated all my best reasons ( stores doing it, why not you? BR doing it, why not you?), but to no avai. Please, don't feel bad, it's pretty much the same situation for everybody. Some anonimous people ( not the good guys, apparentlly:)) like to brag from time to time about triple stacking, but I highly doubt it's true.:))

    ReplyDelete

  183. Anon @ 6:51 - thanks for the tip on the details of my last 5 orders. I did not see that on my tiny Macbook screen.

I'm looking through the list, by order. The last 3 orders that have shipped have all had a previously sold out item available and then cancelled when the order is shipped. I am reading the same from people on this blog. Several have received their packages EXCEPT for the most-wanted item. it sounds like bait-and-switch, especially with the promos that require a minimum.

What I mean is, I've seen an item that I wanted, which was previously sold out. I buy other things to ensure the order is over the minimum to take full advantage of the promo. When the order is fulfilled, the item that I most wanted is out of stock and cancelled.

Doesn't JC have to actually have enough product in stock when they offer it for sale? I'm starting to really question the Pavlovian response here and I can see I'm not the only one to get caught up in the excitement of getting something that was previously unattainable.

Just my two cents worth. Seems a little suspicious.

    ReplyDelete
  184. Thanks to all of you for your hints and tips. My order had 5 out of 8 things further reduced. So I called and got a really polite and nice CS guy. It took him a little while and made a price adjustment on my credit card. He did say that he found out they were only suppose to do it for full price items but because I was nice, he decided to do it anyway! I don't have a cold but am really tired and mellow. Good luck and as my DH said, "It's worth a try."

    ReplyDelete
  185. I do not know about triple stacking discounts, but I did use 25% off card with 30% off sale in stores. And again, different SA told me different things. Some let me use it as an exception, and others were happy to accept it and were excited to see how much I saved. I did not want to push it and ask them if I can use my student discount on top of that, I thought it would be too much. :)

  186. CS lady told me you can get an adjustment on any item, if it is within 24hrs. If within 7days, it must be full price.
Yes, tired or with a cold seems to always do the trick. I guess they kinda feel sorry for you that way. Whatever does the trick.

  187. So I really wanted to get a few items with the JINGLE code but right in the middle of my shopping spree, the site went down. This is really getting ridiculous. I guess JCrew doesn't need us to shop that badly since they can't seem to get their act together with their website. :(

  188. anon 5:54: I bought and returned the short Brewster boots in brown. The tops of the boots were very rough (although with thick, taller socks and over time, I don't think would be a big problem) most the biggest reason I returned them was because my feet are narrow and they basically swam in the boots (and I sized down as recommended). The leather was very nice and I'm sure if they fit me correctly, they would be very comfortable. Just my 2-cents worth!

Do you think the tired/with a cold trick would work for me to add my educators discount to my order I placed today. I really would not have bought the two dresses had I know I could not stack my discounts like most stores allow you to. Other JCAs said you could stack, but I think this was prior to the "policy" change.

  191. I am so sorry to hear of all the ordering/shipping issues for some folks. I just received my HOHOHO orders today (everything was in order; whew) and wanted to thank FFM and others for recommending the Maggie jacket. I love this thing. I got it in several colors (camel and heather nickel). Such a good price and great for work/travel/errands. I feel I may reach for one of them every time.

    Thank you! Happy holidays.

  193. SharkBait, for your case I would change it up a bit. You might want to add confused and dumb to the act. Just being sick or tired might not do the trick by itself. You might to also add, that you just talked to another CS rep that said it would be possible.
    geeze, I am great liar/manipulator.

  194. It's been very consistently enforced that the educator discount cannot be stacked with other discounts. The 25% card was something entirely different.

Considering that many hard-working people don't get a special discount under any circumstances, maybe a little gratitude for receiving it on any purchases would be a good idea :-)

  195. Geez, when did this blog become about the upside to deception?

  196. Sharkbait, in your 8:06 PM comment you mentioned wanting to use your "teacher discount", then in your 8:21 PM comment you mention that you are "not a teacher, but a Paraprofessional" (which About.com defines as "an aide -- is a special-education worker who is not licensed to teach"). I know there are many worthy professions that deserve to get J.Crew's discount, but please don't abuse the J.Crew teacher policy if it does not apply to you. If people abuse it, they will take it away and that's not fair.

  198. hi all!

I am debating about the shawl collar cashmere sweater, and am wondering if anyone can weigh in about fit? It looks like it runs really big on the model, although the description says "fitted."

    Here is the link.

    TIA!!
