A big "thanks!" to IRL Lillie - Love It! (in this post), who shared with us her great review of this {beautiful} coat!

I received the Lille heavy wool piqué coat (item 99135) in black, size 4. I have a size 6 on order now too. The size 4 is a smidge tighter then I would like in the shoulder/chest area. When I pull my shoulders back (standing in good posture) I can feel the coat pulling in my chest area, which is not ample. The circumference of the arm at the armpit area is small too. It fits me just right & I would not be able to wear a sweater underneath the size 4 coat.

The Lille is a very stylish coat, & can be worn as an everyday casual coat. This is the coat where the belt is sewn underneath the back of the coat. I am sensitive to how wide I look in clothes. This coat does not accentuate width of hips/rear.

The collar can be worn up or down. It would've been a plus if they had put some sort of fastener so you could stand the collar up & fasten it sh
ut. This is my first feel of a heavy wool pique coat & I like the fabric. It is soft & has a texture to it, unlike the cashmere coats.

I highly recommend this coat, & I thank Slastena for posting IRL on her site. I liked the coat in the catalog but was leary of ordering after the Marie coat bombed for me. I love this coat more than the Marie, & @ $90 you can't go wrong. I do wish they had a better selection of colors in this coat (like the charcoal grey color).

Lillie Sizing Notes:
Size 4: 14-3/4" across shoulder

Size 4: 38-1/2" chest circumference

Size 4: 23-1/2" sleeve length from shoulder seem to bottom of coat sleeve

Size 4: 31" length from top of back collar to bottom of coat

Size 6: 15"

Size 6: 39-1/2" chest circumference

"Thanks!" again to IRL Lillie - Love It! (in this post) for her review! :) Also, if anyone is interested, Slastena was kind enough to share the real-life images of the coat on her blog (click here to view her Lille post). {Incidentally, the coat looks *fantastic* on Slastena! :)}

  1. I've actually hunted for this coat as my sister's Christmas gift. Needless to say, I failed to find it. Beautiful coat though.

  2. i have the coat and love love love it! the material really is heavy enough to keep you warm on the coldest of new england's days! its a great deal and super cute! i wore it with a sweater dress and knee high boots and it was truly cute! the tie around the waste helps to make the coat fitted just the way you like. go get one! they're way cheap now too!

  3. It's really cute, but not very functional in cold weather. The material is very thin even if it is wool, so probably would suit places with mild winters.

  4. I ordered the Lille coat in ivory and Purple, so they should arrive soon. I also ordered the Stormy Tweed Lille in the metallic color. I just can't decide whether to keep it or not. I kept ordering another one, and another one as it went down in price and better promotions came along. I think I ordered 3 in all. The fabric is beautiful but a little stiff. I took the belt out of the waist and wrapped it around the outside of the coat which made it look much better.

  5. Anon @1:13;
I love this coat very much but if I could change anything it would be that the belt is "built in". I was thinking about taking it out and using it around the outside of the coat like you said you did, but tell me this - are you worried about losing the belt? Does it stay on without belt loops? Have you tried putting it back on and is it impossible?

  6. Thanks for the fantastic review, and congratulations to all who bought the coat and love it! :)

  7. I also have this coat, in black, and I love it. I would say that it runs slightly big, though. I bought a 10, which I normally wear, and could have easily worn an 8. It is meant to be a bit of a roomy cut though, so it's great to wear with heavy sweaters. If they still had the purple, I would have bought another one in a heartbeat. Love the fabric!

  8. By the way, I have yet to receive my size 6 Lillie. To make a long story short...I will have a total of four Lillies (sizes 0, 4, 6 & another 6) by end of today Friday! Someone at the shipping warehouse needs to put on their glasses. :)

  9. I got the Lillie in a 2P and had to send it back as it was HUGE on me. I am reordering in a smaller size and hopefully it will fit because I absolutely LOVE this coat!

  10. I already bought the ivory madeline coat, but haven't recd yet, its dressy though, so, still looking for a more casual everyday coat, but live in warm California, so, not really urgent.

  12. I have been feeling pretty ambiguous towards double breasted coats this year. I don't know why, I just don't feel like buying another double breasted coat. So even though this one is so cute, I passed on it.

  13. I really wanted this coat in ivory and went by Pentagon City to try it on in black first. I'm 5'10" with a slender frame (B cup bust), but I had to go up to size 8 b/c the shoulders on this coat fit very snug. This left the body of the coat huge on me (I'm normally a size 2 in tops) since it naturally flares out away from the body. (Note my plaza coat w/ thinsulate is an 8 too.) I may try to do a we will find it search before making my final decision, but so far I'm sadly thinking a pass. :( I really wanted an ivory coat that didn't collect fuzz as badly as the wool/cashmere ones, but the triangle type fit on this one may be too much of an annoyance for me to justify this coat!

  14. Although I really like it on Slastena (although she could probably make anything look good) the 3 main things that turned me off on this coat are 1) Double breasted (also over that looK), 2) built-in belt), and 3) shapeless.

  15. Dina,

I am probably going to make some belt loops on the seams using a heavy thread so I won't lose the belt.

The belt is fairly easy to put back in the original loop once you take it out.

  16. I agree that double-breasted is tough to wear unless you are always buttoned up and I am just not that kinda coat/jacket person. I bought my first JC peacoat in Ivory and as much as I love an Ivory coat, I am already kind kicking myself as I do not care for a double breasted coat hanging open. It's just so much fabric and not flattering. I prob should get something single in Ivory but there don't tend to be as many short coats that are single (such as a peacoat). If I missed one-let me know;)

  17. I have the Lille in black and I love it! At first I ordered a 2, my normal size, but then it was huge on me so I exchanged it for a 0 and everything fit perfectly. I'm in L.A. where we have relatively mild winters so the coat is just right in terms of warmth.

  18. i love this coat in the heather majestic purple and finally received it yesterday, my mom and i have the same coat in the same color, that's how much we both love it. while its not super fitted, but i think that's the way its' supposed to look, have a big of a 'swingy' look to it. the fabric isn't super thick nor is it thickly woven but overall i am quite happy with it, it's really cute.

  19. My black Lille is probable my favorite coat I've had as an adult. It's great looking, has room to layer, and can be buttoned up or just belted if I'm in a hurry. And it looks great with everything, including cat hair!
There are some at the Briarwood store in Ann Arbor, the number is 734-662-6630.

  20. I don't have this coat; I have the Felicia coat in black, which is the same material I believe. I love my Felicia - it looks so cute on, especially with the back detailing. It's not the warmest coat though, and I have to layer underneath to keep warm sometimes. Other times, it is just too cold to wear it. For reference as to weather, I live in the Philadelphia area.

Based on Chiffon Cupcake's review and Gigi's review on her blog, I ordered the ivory Shipley coat. It came today and I LOVE it! It's classic and feminine, and the stadium cloth is so soft and thick. I was pleasantly surprised, because I had felt the Lucinda coat and was expecting the same fabric in the Shipley. The stadium cloth on the Shipley is thicker IMO, and softer. It has some give to it. I think this fabric will be much warmer than the heavy wool pique. It all depends on your needs, IMO.

    Just my 2 cents :)

  21. Hi all - I posted this on the other thread, but thought it belonged here too!

My mom and I were looking for the stormy tweed lille coat in size 0 for my sister-in-law for xmas. We both ended up finding them, and only needed one obviously, so there is currently one on hold under my mom's name (Sally) at the atrium mall in chestnut hill. their number is 617-332-0122.

I hope someone can take it! It is 179.99 with an additional 20% off.

  22. I'm very happy with my Lille. During the recent sale-a-thons, I bought the bright berry Madeline that I had been longing for -- then I threw in the Lille as well, since the price was so low and I thought I should have a warmer option to brave the Midwest winter. I ADORE the Madeline, it so, so cute, but I find myself reaching for the Lille more often since it keeps me so much warmer. It's not my all-time favorite shape, I prefer a more fitted coat -- and I like it better in the front, rather than the back, which is more swing-y. But overall, thumbs up.

  23. I really love this coat, except i wear a 0P. Its all sold out online.. but just to try my luck- know of any returns??

  24. This is an interesting coat. It is both belted and shapeless at the same time (is that even possible?). Yet it looks good on Slastena and many people seem to love it. If I see it in the stores, I'll have to try it on!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I don't like the wool version as i found it to be scratchy. But I love, love, love the stormy tweed. It looked a lot better in person than in the picture. I have to do one size down from my normal coats.

Even though I am above average on the chest department the double breast doesn't look bad. I don't find the style shapeless, at least in the front, maybe in the back it billows out more.

BTW, I got my ivory tweed coat just today and love that as well. The material is beautiful and the double breast collar is very flattering.

  26. Hi all,

I got a chance to try this coat on at the B&M in Carmel. I'll admit, I wasn't wowed by the largish buttons & double breasted design. That said, I know a lot of aficonadas would look lovely in a vintage / mod style like the Lille.

Oh & by the way... Jeff, I don't know what size your sister prefers, but they had several Lille's in the sale section. Many in the majestic purple (which I consider a v. flattering colour).

Carmel can be reached at #831-624-2803. Morgan is esp helpful with over the phone orders. However, if she is unavailable, I'm sure the other SA's will be of assistance. Maybe they can apply free shipping if you mention the online offer.

    HTH,

    Heather:D

  27. I received my size 6 Lillie(s) today and am sticking with the size 4. Wow, does the amount of coat increase between sizes. If the Lillie doesn't fit you in your regular size then leave it. It'll be too much a size bigger. :)

  28. Heather: Thanks a lot. I'll be giving a call tomorrow morning. My sister is a size 0, so hopes are a bit slim. :(
    Thanks a lot nonetheless. :D

  29. Oh, & yes I am specifically looking for it in Majestic Purple. That color is really that amazing to look at. Thanks again.

  30. I just got the Lille in black, size 0, and i love it! the wide notched collar is very cute, and the first day i wore it i got several compliments. i would advise to get it at least a size smaller because the coat is very roomy at the waist and hips. i also think that less busty girls looks better in this coat because that accentuates it's a-line shape.

  31. I just purchased the black Lille coat and LOVE it. I ordered the size 6 which I feel is TTS but with a little more room in the arms. The fabric is soft and has a gorgeous texture. It is very stylish and looks great with many different outfits. because the fabric is so soft, I find that it falls nicely when tied. A very stylish coat!

  32. I just ordered one for my girlfriend, but the only size they have left is 8-regular. My girlfriend is around 5ft 5' tall, very slender and weighs around 105lbs. Since I'm ordering from overseas, I have not had a chance to look at the coat in person to gauge how the sizing would work with her. Can anyone give me an idea if size 8 would fit, or if it's completely OFF. The lady I spoke to at JCREW's customer service tells me it should fit.

many thanks for your advice on this.
