Sneak Peek Into J.Crew's Iceland Catalog

"Thanks!" to Shannon (check out her great blog, My J.Crew Reviews) for sharing some of the images found in J.Crew's latest catalog (that is "on location" in beautiful Iceland). To view the images, click here.

Shannon shares (on her blog) that "About half of the women's section of the catalog is new and the other half is previously released pics from the Holiday red catalog. There are pics of older items re-styled and a few brand new pieces. The Crewcuts section of the catalog looks to be exactly the same. The Men's is slightly different but I did not see any new items."

After seeing the sneak peek, I can't wait to see the catalog in person!

Have you received the new catalog? What new arrivals are you most looking forward to? Which items are you hoping to see in the new catalog? :)

  5. Thanks Shannon! (btw...I love reading your blog! Your reviews are so helpful!) I love the look of the new catalog. Since I still have not received the November or most recent catalog (despite repeated attempts to ensure that I'm on their mailing list) I doubt I will get this one.

Also...promo card has been claimed :)

  7. OT -- question for Aficionadas... What are your thoughts about hosiery vs. bare legs? I am wearing the black Madeline dress to a holiday party. I live in the Northeast, so it will be cold. My legs are not my best asset, but are OK. Are bare legs still a necesssity? If not, what type of hosiery do you reccomend?

  8. I got the new catalogue & there are some beautiful shots of clothes from previous issues, the astrid w/ flower looks really cute in the charcoal. And blonde model looks really pretty.

  9. To anon abt bare legs ~ I think if you feel ok w/ bare legs & you will be indoors for the party, go w. it. alternately, I have worn sheer black hose, or tights w/ dresses when its just too cold for bare legs. i feel like my legs are just too pasty right now for bare legs (esp. w/ black), and don't feel like doing the fake tanner on my legs.

  10. I do bare legs in warmer weather no matter what the time of year but I always do some type of hose/tights in colder weather....if you want sheerness I love Victoria Secrets's thigh highs and other hosiery.

  11. Thank you Shannon for the preview! I love your blog, too! Your reviews are fabulous!

Anon @9:09: Black tights or Black opaque hose are appropriate and *in* for the Fall/Winter Season, as well. :) I personally would not go with bare legs.

  12. Does anyone know when the new arrivals will be in the stores or online?

  13. Another option is some of the fabulous hosiery that is netted with various designs (got mine at Target!) gives just enough coverage and is very retro. I have the same pasty leg problem and these seemed to be great the other day (so that I didn't go bare but didn't have on black hose either.) Have fun at the party!

  14. Does anyone have the Ella herringbone dress and how does it fit? I might rush ship it for a work Christmas party I have in 2 weeks.

  15. bug pin: I LOVE Target's hosiery...I have several pair with designs like argyle, cables, etc. Cute colors too. I always get compliments on them, and they're very reasonably priced!

...and to weigh in on the hosiery vs. bare legs...i'd have to go with hose. especially when you can get such cute pairs these days. my legs are too white to display to the world :)

  16. Regarding the Madeline dress, I would wear it with tall boots with a heel, and either opaque tights or sheer black hose. That would sort of "winterize" the look (and keep your feet warm). Definitely no bare legs in the Northeast in December! BRRRRR!

  17. Tim Gunn and other fashion gurus don't like hose, but for those of us who live in reality, hose are a necessity, particularly in winter or if you work in a formal environment like I do. Of course, those fashion gurus would also have us wear open-toed sandals in winter. Not me!

I like the sheer black hose and tights that are in right now. They look good and are warm. Definite pluses in my book!

  18. I wonder who gets to pick where the 'on location' location is. That seems like it would be so much fun to be able to go to the different places they've featured so far. :)

  19. I have black Smartwool tights..they are not only warm but very fashionable. Worth it:) I got one pair at full price a few years ago but then found them on super sale and bought 4 more pairs....love them:)

  21. Hi fashionistas! I very much aprreciate your oppinion in trends and I would like for you to tell me what do you think about these boots I've just bought. In Europe the over the knee boots are a hot trend, do you have this trend in the US? Thanks!

  22. Isla: I know that a couple of different US shoes sites have been selling over the knee boots for a couple of months now, including Endless.com. I would definitely say to keep them...I have read that they are to be one of the US trends for this Fall/Winter. :)

  23. Please, I am honestly not trying to start something but when I think of over the knee boots I only think of one thing...

A character once played by Julia Roberts...I can't help it but I do.....:)

  24. I love over-the-knee boots! I predict that JCrew will offer them next year, and then everybody who thought they were too sexy or cheap-looking will suddenly be wearing them. Remember, people used to think mini-skirts were terrible! ;)

  25. I used to love mini-skirts, boots to the knee with mini's or cute shorts...when I was 19 - 21!! Those days are gone. I will pass on over the knee boots next year but will be wishing I could wear them. :)

  26. Thanks Shannon for your great blog and sharing the catalog with us!!! :)

  27. isla - The trend was popular in the 80s or so and has not been embraced a second time so far. However, we are usually behind w/the trends so as FFM said maybe next year. These boots would swallow me so I can't wear them. I love the look, though., :-)

  28. i got the new Iceland catalog today at the store. Only the first dozen pages are of the Iceland shoot; the rest are just regular gray studio. It was kind of strange looking through it though because many of the items are already marked down up to 50% off. I bought shearling moc slippers (featured on the back of the catalog for $60) but in the store paid about $24 after discounts.

  29. Isla, I realize this is late (just catching up after the holiday), but I couldn't resist responding because I love over-the-knee boots! I don't know if I would call them a full-fledged trend, but they've definitely been hovering around U.S. style for a couple years. I bought a vintage pair of them in whiskey with a stacked wood heel a couple years ago and actually get a lot of wear out of them, almost always over jeans. Also purchased a pair of cuffed boots from Banana Republic last year that can be worn up over the knee or folded down. They don't make me think of hookers at all; just depends on how you wear them.

  30. Thank you girls!

I'm not the only one who loves this trend!
