J.Crew's {awesome} Give More Spend Less Promotion

"Thanks!" to so many of you, including kitchy7, Ameilia, as well as Green_Dino & Smarty (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew is offering a wonderful new promo code HOHOHO. You can save 20% on $100+, 25% on $150+, and 30% on $200+ plus *free shipping* on all orders of $100+. This offer expires 12/11/08.

This offer is just f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c! I also think J.Crew will be offering something (in terms of promotion) every day until the holidays are over. The deals are just going to keep getting better. (If only I had better willpower to hold out longer, but with offers like this and the red card, J.Crew is making it difficult!) ;)

Are you planning to take advantage of this {amazing} offer, or wait a bit longer (for better deals), or avoid shopping online (to avoid any order mishaps)? :)

  1. This is a great promo.! I bit the bullet and ordered (praying I receive my few items: coat, boots, tanks & socks) for under $250!

  2. yes i think the deals will get better- it's just a game of if the stock will be there! there are things i want that i think could get marked down more, but then again, i don't want them to get sold out.

    ReplyDelete
  3. ^ Also, CS phone rep said if you open credit card you can use 20% off on top of current promo. Wow, I just can't open another card at this time but excellent deal for those who are able to apply! A total of a whopping 50% off an order. No, I'm not an employee just wishing JC had more items I liked so I could save a bundle on sweaters, etc.

  4. This is a great deal, but remember "TURKEY"? I just cannot handle any more screwups that ties up my money so close to Christmas.

    ReplyDelete
  5. it actually wouldn't be 50%. they don't add the discounts up together, they would take the 30 and then the 20...
which would make it 44% off.
still a good deal! just pointing out how the math works.

  6. J.crew cut price further. Price of Match stick jean crisp blue is shown as $69.99 but if you click the picture, it is actually 49.99. Cashmere femme sweater (89.99->59.99). Taffeta A-line skirt (pink) (59.99->39.99), Maggie jacket (250->175).

  7. Quin cami: 59.99->49.99

  8. I actually did place an order for 2 Maggie Jackets...we'll see what happens...I know the odds are great that the order will get messed up, but I've been waiting for a markdown on the jackets, and this one really is a great deal. :)

  9. Good morning everyone! :)

Quick reminder for those who may not know about the code posted in the comments of J.Crew's 25% Off Red Card Promotion Follow Up :) post. bixbysgirl was kind enough to share with us the online code for the red card which has no minimum. To view the code, click here. It will take you to an image where the code is on the bottom.

(I used an image so search engines cannot find the code, since it is not text). Also, if possible, please discretely share the code so it will not be pulled early. :)

    ReplyDelete
  10. alexis, the 25% off promo code and this current promotion cannot be used together, right? or can they?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Alexis: Thanks for posting the code I was able to use it on a past order this am, I had an amazing CS rep.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Sorry I forgot to add something the Ho Ho Ho code will save you more money because of the fs. I did a mock order using both codes.

  13. I have an idea for Mickey- they should post pictures of a model wearing their sunglasses. They have the models wearing the glasses a lot, but never the sunglasses. Then we would somewhat have an idea of what they look like on a face. I wonder how many sunglasses they have actually sold? It has to be hard considering they are online only, and like I said, the only pictures are of the sunglasses themselves.

  14. Long Fabienne high-heel boots:300->269.99, Printed calf-hair heels: 250->229.99, Perfect patent flats: 99->79.99... Not sure why prices are different.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I just used the Ho code & it IS cheaper due to the free s/h. tried the 25% off red card code, and it wouldn't work anyways. W/ the free s/h it is a good deal & the sweater I wanted was finally m/d ~ less than 10 available in my size; so, its really a wait game, but, didn't want to wait longer to see if m/d further, due to ltd # in my size.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Anon at 8:49 AM: Unfortunately the red card online code cannot be combined.

Casual_Crew makes a great point that anyone spending $100+ is better off with the Give More Spend Less code (b/c of free shipping and 20-30% off). :)

However, for members spending less than $100, the red card online code can save you some money (as there is no code for no min right now). :)

  17. Great promo! FINALLY J CREW! I ordered the Berry Astrid Boucle (in hopes I can pin/spray starch the living daylights out of the floppy flower); a few basic tees, and a pair of the perfectly patent pumps in dusty rose. Hooray!

    ReplyDelete
  18. FFM: What color Maggies did you order? I just ordered the ivory (already have camel). I wish black was available.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Tammylee: I wanted Black too! However, since it wasn't available...I also ordered Ivory and Heather Nickel. I think my chances of getting the Ivory are reasonably good, but the Heather Nickel is definitely *iffy*.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oh man, they got me. So much for not placing an order until the new year. Bought some more gifts and maybe a thing or two for myself. Also just found out my waitlisted tall Brewster Boots shipped. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  21. YEAH!!!!! Finally an awesome promotion. Just what I have been waiting for! I think I am going to order everything on my wish list. Thank you J.Crew for finally giving us what we have been waiting for! Happy shopping everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Just placed an order for the Metallic Houndstooth Clea in Black, as well as the Penelope Mary Janes in Silver for under $150!!! I know I said I would put a hold on my J.Crew spending, but this promo is just too good!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I won't be able to take advantage of this promo, because I ordered a bunch of cashmeres using the 30% off sale promo a week or so ago, but what a great promo! Congratulations to all who use it, and happy shopping!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Anyone know when the site will be updated w/ some of the new resort/spring items?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Resort and springish items are on there now ~ look at 'resort'; went to the burlingame store yesterday & they had out lots of resort stuff. some super cute camis, kinda like the lydia, but different. cute, cute stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Has anyone had any experience with the short Brewster boot?

Also, what happens if we end up returning an item and total price drops to 100 instead of 150, anyone know if j.crew charges the difference between the percentage off discounts?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Are you kidding me? Order? No way! Not with all the reported problems. No deal is worht the high potential for problems. I have learned my lesson...

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thanks a lot FFM! I went to the site this morning and with the Maggie being markdown I and the % off I just had to order it!

It's all your fault!!! Hee hee. But really, that is one fantastic jacket!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Oh wow--just caught that! FREE SHIPPING TOO?! WOW--this is great! But I honestly hope that you get ALL your items and that they are the proper ones. Not trying to be negative but it does scare me! I mean, it sucks to finally order that Maggie you have been waiting on a price drop for and get a men's peacoat instead:( Meanwhile, the Maggie sells out. Might want to pay for upgrade shipping if there is something you REALLY want. Hope it goes well for everyone!:)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ameilia: Congratulations on your Maggie Jacket! Which color did you get? I agree that the jacket is just so fabulous! I already have it in Camel, but would purchase it in every color if I could...I just love it that much. :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. I had decided that I was done with shopping at J.Crew for the year as I have a trip to Dublin coming up and I'd rather spend money overseas. But this latest promotion has changing my mind and I'm going to get a few more things.

    ReplyDelete
  32. is the sale section final sale?

    ReplyDelete
  33. BTW--Anyone else suddenly not getting any emails announcing sales such as this or for ex. the TURKEY code etc.? I have spent a whopping amount of money with JC this year and all of the sudden, I have stopped recv'g those promo emails. I wouldn't even know about the sales if I didn't come here (THANKS ALEXIS!) or happen onto the JC site on a specific sale day! I guess it would have saved me a LOT of $, TIME and TROUBLE but instead..not so much.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Jcrew is starting to look desperate...which is great for us!! Yahoo!!! Sorry, Mickey!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Bugpin,

I had been getting them just fine and now I am not either....

Also, did you ever find out WHAT is causing all these order problems?

I am too afraid to order.
And I am not a gluten for punishment like some people on this site!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I bought the Maggie and returned it...too plain Jane for me. I know others like it and that is great for them!

I need a little more Wow factor and don't like to look like everyone ele...like the berry Astrid...or snow leopard pea coat now those I love.

    ReplyDelete
  37. FFM - I got it in Camel!!! That is the color I wanted as well. It just got marked down this morning, plus the additional % off and finally free shipping. I just had to get it. I am trying to stay away from buying multiples in the same style, but I agree it is such a great jacket I can see why others would!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anon 10:11-I was told a combo of things is causing this. What I am VERY surprised by and pleased to hear is that most of the JCA's on here are getting their orders perfectly. That's great! But I would have liked this poll to be specific to TURKEY 11/25 and on forward as that is when the problems began. Not sure if it would have been a different outcome.
I know there are a lot of new hires in the warehouse that get a days training and go to work--I was told this by a rep. Problem that I don't get is that apparently--labels are actually being placed on the wrong items right now. For example--someone goes to pick up a coat but it is a wedding dress with the coat label. Seeing these people are clueless (perhaps don't even care and are not checking the bags/boxes for what is actually inside,) you get whatever the label slapped on there says it is. They are pulling pumps for a women's order but they are perhaps really men's shoes. Yes, the box is much larger and heavier than pumps but do they double-check-NO! That is why all the very randomness.
I kid you not--I just stopped typing to get a UPS package that my very sweet CSR placed for me--several replacement items. Guess what ladies...it was overnighted (free on JC)and inside is 4 of 8 items. Yes, I was charged for all of them. So honestly--GOOD LUCK!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anon @ 10:13- I see your point but for a long time I was buying the unique pieces and now I realize I am in need of some basics! I think this jacket is a great one and even like some of the detail on it.

Stacy- I believe no Dec sales are final because it allows people to return merchandise if it was a gift.

    ReplyDelete
  40. So tempting...especially because even if your order is less than $100 (after they take off the 20%) the still honor the free shipping...so tempted to order things from my Christmas list.....

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yay, great code! Plus new markdowns too. I just ordered a bunch of stuff I was holding out on. I am still holding out for lower prices on some of the cashmere sweaters, which I think will be more deeply discounted after xmas.

    ReplyDelete
  42. It was necessary! The cashmere Peyton dress finally went down to less than $56 with the 30% off. I've had my beady little eyes peeled for that good of a sale for MONTHS now, so I had to do it. I wanted either grey, black, or red and it seemed like only the yellow had been a good price so today I got the grey heather. Overall I've been really happy with the prices paid and quality of the J. Crew cashmere pieces I have. Out of maybe twenty or so I've gotten over six years, only two have had problems. One was a cardi whose grosgrain ribbon trim placket wasn't sewn in tightly, another had an on seam hole. Luckily I haven't had more pilling than I could deal with, with just my trusty two dollar defuzz comb.

I'm so excited that I finally ordered one of my few last MUST have items from this year, (along with a ton of cheapie crewcuts stuff for my daughter that she can wear this summer and next year, too) and I have all my fingers and toes crossed that all my items arrive safe and sound.

    ReplyDelete
  43. If i buy a few things from this promo and end up returning a couple items will i be charged full price for the items i keep since it will be under the 100 or 200 minimum..

    ReplyDelete
  44. I used this to order the King Street Reversible trench for my husband. Hope that it fits and that he likes it.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Just want to share my experience this morning with a CS rep - I had placed an order last week using the 30% off sale promo, and 5 of the 6 items showed as "shipped" but one cashmere tneck was "waitlisted." I just happened to look at the cashmere tnecks this morning and noticed that the size/color that I ordered last week was now showing "in stock." I immediately called CS and the very helpful and friendly rep looked into this for me. She did some research and recommended that she cancel the waitlisted item and place a new order for the sweater. This only took about 10 minutes and I even received the new order email shortly after that. Just an idea for anyone else with a waitlisted item to recheck your items (especially if it was a sale itme) and if you see it in stock, it's worth a call to CS to perhaps cancel and reorder. Of course, I hope my sweater actually ships. : )

    ReplyDelete
  46. Chloe-
Start shopping for a new flower for that jacket--that floppy flower is much akin to a real flower that is past best and will no longer take water--there's going to be no fluffing;)

The jacket is FABULOUS though and there are many great options at your local import accessories stores-enjoy!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I just bought my 2nd maggie- I already had camel, but I like heather nickel even more. I'm excited to get it at such a great price! Fingers crossed that it comes!

    ReplyDelete
  48. anon at 10:49: I returned several Turkey code items and did NOT get charged more money on the other items. They simply gave me back the price I paid for individual items (the discount is applied to each item).

    ReplyDelete
  49. this deal rocks! thanks jcrew! the free shipping is awesome ;)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Bugpin,

First, thanks for your reply. I appreciate hearing about your experiences and any info.

I thought someone (FFM?) was going to email Mickey himself and would to hear his take on this issue!

Wow...another botched order for you. I can relate. I have had three recently with problems.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I purchased the Camel Maggie. I already had the nickel and love, love, love this jacket.

I rarely buy duplicates, but I don't mind having two of these or the two Greta coats I purchased as I really love the styles.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Thank you for the 25% code Alexis!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Yay on the free shipping! Im holding out to see if theyll be further reductions tonight/tomorrow.. if not, I may still cave : )

PS- wearing my cambridge cable crew in spearmint and LOVING the color : ) ...may cave and buy something else in it

    ReplyDelete
  54. This is a great promo! I am going to order everything because I do not want to miss out because it may get marked down later. I can't imagine things going down in price that much more. 30% off and free shipping is pretty good. I think Jcrew is just trying to make room for new stuff. I would not hold out much longer if you are planning on purchasing. The phone reps said they are super busy right now. But remember, you can go broke saving money! Only buy what you love and really want! Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  55. omg! how does j crew do it??? i just SWORE off ordering more, but free shipping + 30% = Oh s!

    ReplyDelete
  56. PS- How are the dream turtleneck sweater & the cashmere jacike cardi, fit-wise? TTS?

Also, I havent bought JC bathing suits in years- are they TTS? I am a 2 in pants(On the big side of 2) and a 34C/Small/4 on tops... I was thinking of getting Smalls in both top and bottoms.. what do you guys think?

Thanks so much-- I love this board : )

    ReplyDelete
  57. The HOHOHO code also works on shiping to Canada! I just bought the stuff that was in my basket, waitting for a new sale! I acctually had to add a Merino sweater to make it to the 100$ mark and acctually making my order Cheaper!
114$ W/shipping to canada with out the sweater (and the HOHOHO code)
91$ with the sweater and the HOHOHO code!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Well, add me to the list of camel maggie purchasers :)..I bought both a petite 10 and a regular 8 to determine fit. The markdown, percentage off, and free shipping fished me in...that and the fact that 1. I've had good luck with my orders 2. I've been eyeing the Maggie since it was full price 3. these are not final sale items, so I can (hopefully) return one or potentially both with no issues.

When the risks get weighed and I still think about the jacket, I think I am "hooked"!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I'm considering getting a 2nd Maggie. I already have it in black. I also already have a Bella, Andrea, and 2 long coats. I worry that I'm going overboard with the # of coats I'd own. How often do you all wear each of your coats? I wonder if I even need another Maggie in the rotation.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Anony@11:25

There will be better deals. I am willing to play the waiting game. AND not have messed up orders. The first day of a promotion is always the worst and there will be order screw ups. I think it is best to wait for the HUGE influx of calls and orders to die down a bit.

Anyone else bet the website goes down again with this code? Lost orders anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  61. I too am part of the Maggie club =) I own it in grey and camel. Does anyone know how bright the Heather Bright Berry is IRL?

    ReplyDelete
  62. This is an awesome promo! I've already done too much shopping for me otherwise I'd be all over this!! Hopefully they will have something similar after Christmas since I put J.Crew giftcards on my list to each side of the fam :)

    ReplyDelete
  63. Caliglam- how was the Burligame sale section? Did they have further markdowns? 20 or 30%?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Hi everyone! About the maggie...has anyone seen the deep yellow? Thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  65. I cannot muster the energy to type Mickey an email after talking about all these orders and BOTCHED replacement orders over and over with the various reps since 11/25.
I mean, at first I was going to write him. Believe me..it was really BAD and I was spending a terrific amount of my day sorting through the charges/returns/CCard etc.
Then I got a really sweet CSR and she has allowed me a nice discount online and in store plus free overnight shipping. But, I have now had 3 replacement orders that have missing items as well-all overnighted. I laughed when I said, "I guess I will give it a go with the overnight shipping as they will pull the items and things should all be there" but NOPE items are still missing from my follow up orders. Unless they of course came from a store via "we will find it". I feel like a glutton for punishment but I guess it has become laughable at this point.

Honestly, I am hoping that I get an apology without asking for it. I would hope that my CSR will turn ALL this info over to a higher up and the apology follows without my initiating it. I think we ALL deserve one to be honest...for sticking it out with a co that has all these MAJORLY IMPORTANT issues (shipping/warehouse/website) going on esp. right in the middle of the holidays (of all times.) BTW,never thought there would be GOOD time to be so damn selfish and have bought 99% of this stuff for myself and not as gifts for some other aficionada/nado. Therefore, it is not the end of the world~just a PITA:)

    ReplyDelete
  66. Argyle-I don't consider the Maggie to be a coat at all-I guess I just enabled you!

I LOVE the yellow Maggie-beautiful color! Wish it fit me correctly...so sad:(

    ReplyDelete
  67. bugpin@12:10

I understand not wanting to write any more about this.

I see where FFM did get a reply from Mickey about the shipping so I hope she posts the info. or shares it.

    ReplyDelete
  68. My number one favorite silhouette from J Crew this year is the Matchstick/Maggie silhouette!

I wear mine with my Cole Haan Air Elly open toe low wedges in tortoise or black patent--absolute cuteness!

I have a black Maggie, so I have to decide between Gray or Camel...can't have both......

    ReplyDelete
  69. Hi Kendra - I am actually wearing the Dream turtleneck sweater right now and I absolutely love it! I ended up ordering two with TURKEY, and I may get another one! IMO they fit TTS. I ordered a few merino turtlenecks as well, and they're all going back as they seemed too baggy. Jackie cardigan is also pretty TTS. I am normally a size 8, and I got a medium in the Dream. For Jackie, I have a few M and a few S. They do stretch, so you can probably size down.

    Hope this helps!

    ReplyDelete
  70. I know we've discussed this before...but how does Maggie fit? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  71. This morning I received two shipping confirmations from orders placed last week, and all of the items say "shipped" (usually the cancellations will show up in the shipping confirmations, and I had been receiving shipping confirmations way late, not before the packages arrived), so that gave me confidence to place one last order for this year covering everything I was still watching. I cannot believe how much money I saved with the promo and new markdowns. I got the Maggie for $126, a velvet Ecole for $54, a couple of Harlow blouses for $21 each, the Winona bow blouse for $35, university pants and trouser cords for $35, a cashmere argyle sweater for $49, the Lucille coat in orange (already have it in green) for $69, and a couple of other great deals! Fingers crossed it all arrives.

And now I can take my 6 month hiatus from J. Crew with confidence! Wish me luck on staying strong!

    ReplyDelete
  72. ooh this is too good to pass up; especially with the free shipping! I ordered some socks (I love their argyle socks! only $3.74 if you use the 20%) and the Merino Miranda Jacket (it was marked down and with the extra 20%, its almost half off!). I love their sweater jackets. I am so way over my shopping budget now!!

    ReplyDelete
  73. maggie is quite fitted, especially in the shoulder/armpit area imo. i'm a sz0 and found the maggie sz 0 quite fitted.

    ReplyDelete
  74. The Jamie bag in black and burnt sienna is now back to full price $495. The dark cloud is now reduced from $300 to $249.99 There are a few tulips and lots of honey glaze for $249.99.

The website shows only sienna, so do call if you're interested.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I am so MAD! I was afraid that they wouldn't have another deal, so I ordered on Sunday night to use the 20% off on an order of $280...and now I see this! ARGGH! :)

    ReplyDelete
  76. I agree with the anon above on the fit of the Maggie.

I ordered a size 4. I am 5'4" 122 and wear a 30B bra. It fits well overall and looks great, but it does not have much ease around the shoulders and under the arms. If you want to wear a sweater or layer a shirt and sweater under it, I would consider sizing up one size.

I personally think it is somewhat relaxed around the waist.

    ReplyDelete
  77. This is an awesome deal, finally!! Thanks J Crew! But I ordered some sweaters with 3 day shipping on yesterday with the 20% off, and I'm glad I did, they sold out last night and I've been eying this for weeks! Plus, I'm still pissy with JC for not sending me a red discount card and for previous screw ups, so I'm trying to hold off. Great prices though!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Thank you for letting us know about the Maggie fit. The shoulders/arm pit being tight makes it a DEFINTE "NO" for me. thanks for saving me the headache. I don't really like the jacket all that much but people go on and on about it so I thought maybe I'd try it but now I won't...I just prefer sweaters and comfy sweater jackets this time of year to stay warm in:)

    ReplyDelete
  79. The email about this promo says "in stores" as well...does this mean we can use the 25% off card AND this promo?? Would seem to good to be true, but just wondering!

    ReplyDelete
  80. I wear a size 6 in J Crew Jackets and Coats, and the size 6 Maggie fits me perfectly. I have broad shoulders and a broad back. The key, as with all J Crew Jackets is to buy the right size, and don't get caught up in a number, even if it's higher than your ego wants to go.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I agree with Anon 12:39 - I am a size 2 and found the Maggie 2 to be too tight in the shoulders/armpit area. I sized up to the 4 and the waist was more relaxed, but fit was more comfortable in the shoulders. It's cute as a button, though!

    ReplyDelete
  82. I wouldn't have been adverse to a tiny bit lower armholes, but I do think the jacket deserves the positive reviews it has received.

The fabric is awesome and it is the best made jacket I have seen in a while. If really does have a vintage look.

I purchased my nickel one the day the turkey code came out and have worn in several times already. Hopefully I won't have any issues with the Camel.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Nah...still holding out for the beginning of the year. I'm really hoping that there will be some HUGE after Christmas sales (and hoping even more that I get some j.crew gift cards for christmas! :)

I do think this promotion is great, however. Kudos to j.crew for helping out during the holidays.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Save money, by spending more. :D

Though, I'm happy to see such a promotion, I'm all spent on gifts.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Thanks everyone for your Maggie reviews! I guess I won't have to order two different sizes now :)

    ReplyDelete
  86. Isn't it funny the thought process behind free shipping? For example, the last time we had a 30% code, I bought only what I knew I would like (had tried on previously in stores) because I didn't want to end up eating all the shipping if I didn't like the items. But now, 30% + free shipping, I bought a whole bunch of other items that were catalog-only that I'd been considering but couldn't quite bring myself to bite the bullet. And I thought J.Crew wouldn't be able to take any more money from me this month. :)

    ReplyDelete
  87. yes, i used it - hope i get all the items! was tempted to get another pair of boots but i'll try the B&M. i wore my glenbrae's this week and loooove them! in other news:

Size 0 Black Metallic Houndstooth Clea NWT

...is going back to the store for $200 this weekend (60 days is almost up!) unless an aficionada wants it. Willing to take a little hit from the $295-20%-15% I paid to avoid the mall ; ). It's gorgeous, but I found the purse my friend has been coveting instead!

  88. OT: Can anyone give me their opinions on this outfit I was thinking of wearing to a retirement party? I don't want to be too dressy/ am not sure if the shoes are too much.... tx!
    Laura Dress

Maybe with light gray hose or nude?

    ReplyDelete
  89. jliz: I have the Maggie in yellow. I really like it! I also want it in a neutral, but am not sure I can justify a double in this jacket.

The yellow is a bright deep yellow, without being highlighter yellow. I don't consider it having any greenish undertones. Maybe orange, but not so orange-yellow as tangelo. To me, though, it is just yellow. :) Yellow is my favorite color, so I am okay with that.

I'm not sure if this helped ...

  90. there are many things that i'd love to order with this promo...and what a great promo it is...thank you jcrew :) BUT...i just don't want to go through the hastle of a botched order again. my last order was messed up and i don't have the time or energy to deal with that again. yes, CS was awsome in fixing the error quickly, BUT are they fixing that warehouse problem of slapping incorrect labels on items (as bug pin explained)? that's what happened to my order. until they announce that the problem is under control i don't feel comfortable ordering from them online. it sucks...i'm a long time customer too...

  95. I think they just updated the site, once I got back in my shopping cart got dumped and when I went to put stuff back in, there were more sizes/colors for the things I was getting...so I guess look around some more

    ReplyDelete
  96. I knew the website would be slow or crash. That is why I am not ordering on the first day of this promo. People will loose their orders and/or have missing orders, items, etc.

NO thank you. I will wait until Thurs. at the last minute if I order at all.

The promos are getting better with time...

  97. Answering my own question regarding using the promo plus 25% off card...

Asked my friend (JC SA) and she said the *general* rule (we know it can always change at JC) is you can use ONE % off your total, on top of any other discounts. So, you should only be able to use one of the following: current promo, 25% off card, or student/teacher discount. Again, this is on top of any in-store promos (ie, 20% off sale or any "secret" sales).

I hope I explained that correctly!

  98. I have a question if anyone could help me - I saw a shirt in my local store today but they didn't have a color that I liked. I went home to check online, but I don't see the item anywhere. Do the stores sometimes get things not available online? Or has it just not shown up yet? TIA!!!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Anon 2:30 - there *are* some retail-only items that are never available on the website.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Site will not let you check out also. Oh well I should not be spending.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Are the prices marked down in the stores as well?

    ReplyDelete
  102. Anon @ 2:30 - also I got a cardigan that was in the store before it was online and I could not look it up originally. But, two weeks later they got it online - It's the michelle merino. So, you might want to check again later.

  103. Great promo; nothing for me, but I did get two gifts. Woman's sherpa hoodie and a cashmere argyle sweater. Both of these with no shipping for under $100; I feel pretty good about the prices.

Like many have said already, I sense some scary good prices right before and after Christmas.

  106. wait, I dont see the Metallic Houndstooth Clea in Black on the sale section. i saw it in the last few days but always said sold out when i clicked on it. did it just magically appear today and leave again? Help!
I love it, but is it really metallic? The greenish version looks subtle but I'm not sure. help!

  107. I ordered the deep Maggie in deep yellow. The color is pretty close to what you see on the screen...a dark, yet bright shade of yellow. Think rubber ducky.

Fit: very similar to the Bella jackets from last year. The bust and shoulders run small, at least compared to other J.crew items. I originally ordered a size 0P...the bust was at least 1-2 inches too small. I'm trying again with a size 0. I'm 5'2, so I normally definitely wear the petite size, but this petite seems almost too short/small all over. Even the length felt a bit short, and so were the sleeves.

    ReplyDelete
  108. FYI: to everyone

They are updating the sale section...all the time basically. I have been stalking the francie skirt in dark peony for the last 3 days since they sold out in my size (12).

I've been checking every hour. they didn't have it an hour ago (11:33am) but they do now!

So if you're really looking for something, just bookmark the page and check for it repeatedly, seems like there's not particular time that they update.

  109. Did new items arrive in stores yet? I want to go Thursday to use this promotion :) Thanks

  110. I also just ordered the Maggie Jacket in a black, size 8. It was down to $134.88 w/o tax. Apparently, I got the very last one which has me very nervous!!! Who bets my order will be cancelled?

I'm a stay at home mom, so not sure how much use I will get out of this jacket. FFM, can you please do your magic and create a few casual looks w/ this jacket in black?

    Thanks!

  114. Has anyone got the Cashmere Butterfield jacket? How do you like it? Is it holding up or is it getting stretched out? I really like it and with this new promo, might be the time to splurge. Any thoughts would be great. Or should I just get a Maggie? All the talk is making me want one!

  116. Just commenting to say that the order I placed using the GIFTS promo last week arrived today, and there were no problems. I am returning the Marie coat I received because although I adore the color, the coat itself is somewhat shapeless and the collar doesn't seem to sit right on me. I ordered the Shipley with the HOHOHO discount; hopefully that will work out better. I hope everyone's problem orders are worked out soon!

  117. can anyone post re: the fit of the current season's cashmere bateau sweater? I have found this year's cashmere to run a large (as in, if i am not planning to layer it, I size down) and was wondering if this sweater is the same. thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  118. Dang. I totally caved and spent more money. Darn you J Crew! Such a great deal though....

    ReplyDelete
  119. A: I found that the bateau runs a bit large. I'm typically a medium (or, a large in anything super fitted, a small in anything with an empire waist or boxy cut) and in this sweater I needed the small. The medium was so boxy and unattractive that I just wrote it off as a bad fit for me - and then I stumbled upon one on sale in the store this weekend in a small, so I figured I'd give it a try, and I LOVE it. The small fits well, and doesn't appear boxy at all.

  127. thanks, Christina! just the info I needed.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Got the polka-dot Cherie cami and it is great (and I've tried the Elizabeth, Quinn, Lydia, Piper, etc., etc.). It's fully lined, and machine-washable cotton-silk. I find this to be the most TTS of all the silk cami/tank tops - the 2 was perfect on me, the 0 would've been to tight in the underarms (unlike most of the other tops that you could size WAY down in). The U-neck is cute and not too low - quite flattering and good for those of you that aren't into the overly ruffly cami offerings. It does have the side zip that I know has caused Aficionadas trouble, but this one did not seem as stiff, and I was able to tuck the top in unlike some of the other side-zips. Very, very cute!

Also received the cotton henley sweater, which is a great layering piece. A little big (I got a S, not XS), but looks great over a tank. I liked the somewhat relaxed look so I don't think I will try to size down in this, but depending on how fitted you want it you could easily size down. Worth full price? Nah. On sale? Definitely.

    ReplyDelete
  129. I finally ordered the Metallic Herringbone Clea Jacket!!!
The free shipping just made me relapse into my shopping addiction...

But I was reading description of it again, and it says the jacket has bracelet sleeves... Does anyone know if they are really long sleeves??

The one the model has on looks like long sleeves. I have the navy/gray striped town coat from last year, which has bracelet sleeves and they seem much shorter (end at mid arm).

Also I have noticed there are a lot of Christina's posting on here so we should pick better names... but whatever floats your boat =D

    ReplyDelete
  130. silver_lining: How thin is the cotton henley sweater, is it more suitable for late spring rather than early spring?

    ReplyDelete
  131. casual-crew, it's thin but not see-through like most of their merino pieces are. I plan on layering it under a jacket and over a henley waffle top in the winter (or long-sleeved perfect-fit tee) and over a tank in the spring. I think that the top 2 buttons are intended to be non-functional (like the heirloom cashmere henley, maybe?). If you like to layer, I could see this one being a year-round piece.

  137. re: crawford blouse, I had ordered it in the bright berry but returned it b/c it just ended up looking like a flourescent pink smock on me. I may try the black one to see if it's better if it gets marked down more and is not on final sale by then. I really like the look of it on the model.

    ReplyDelete
  138. I have the MH Clea-- The sleeves are full length, but arrive folded back in a cuff, which is still wrist length on my long arms. You will love the jacket. It is bright though. It looks BEAUTIFUL at night, but too bright during the day, IMO.

  141. Anyone own the Aubrey Herringbone Jacket? I am considering buying one. I called for measurements and it would appear that I would need to size down a couple of sizes. I normally wear a 4 but the garment measurement for the chest is 39" which means that it'll be just HUGE! I'm thinking that I would need to go into a sz 0. I would love any insight anyone can provide on this jacket. Also, is the Bright Heather Berry a pretty color? Is it like Rhubarb? HELP please! Thanks.

  145. The Cashmere Flora dress is now on sale for $99. All sized but xsmall. I love this dress. It is extremely soft, like a cloud :) I worn it to the Thanksgiving party at work and then to a birthday party and got way too many compliments. People wanted to touch the dress because it looks the same way it feels - very-very soft. Get it while it lasts!!!

    ReplyDelete
  146. i really wanted to love the cashmere flora dress but i saw an associate wearing it the other week and i thought it looked terrible :( the sleeves hit at a weird part. it's an awkward length to me. has anyone else seen this problem? i've never seen it in a store to try on, she's the only one i've seen it on.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Classic style - mine says in store too. Unfortunately they will not combine promotions, for example, I thought with this 30% discount, I could get another suit under $300. I went to the store...and even called another store, because in store suits are all 25% off right now, and they told me I could get either the 25% or 30% but not both. Lame since the 30% is supposed to be on any purchase over $200. Anyone have luck with this?

    ReplyDelete
  148. yes dina that doesn't make sense. it works on sale items online, and even promotional items online, so it should work the same in store. the percent off should be off your total.
i also think this and the red card should be able to be used together, but they probably won't let you. even thought the red card is supposed to be off any purchase, including sale and promo.
they'll lose customers by not honoring what they say.
both of these promos seem like you should be able to use it with other things

  149. A report from the Clinton Crossing (CT) outlet store: hip slung denim, favorite fit denim (they fit like the fav fit chinos) for $47, jackie cardigans in solid colors for $20, some elizabeth halters for $36, graphic tees (6-8 different styles) for $18, tons of coats (not sure about the quality of outlet vs. b&m for these), ruffle cardigans, tank tops, tons of tees, several haberdashery shirts for $29 (I think). Lots of men's sweaters and graphic tees for approx. same prices, if not less.

Got a pair of fav fit jeans, 2 jackies, and a beaded merino clearance sweater all for $96. They let me use the student discount too.

  151. For anyone interested I emailed jcrew about the measurements for the stretch ponte ruffle shift dress and the bust in a 4 is a 33.5 and on their standard measurement chart a 4 should be at least a 34.5, so i'm thinking this is running small?
does that seem like a smart conclusion? that i should size up?
    thank you for your help!

    ReplyDelete
  152. to Anon 6:21pm. The dress does not look good on the picture on the j.crew website. But in real life it is wonderful as long as you get the right size. I am xs-small or small usually. The small was big on me so I exchanged it to xs-small and it is perfect. I am 5’7” and I wear this dress with high heels. May be the height make the difference.

    ReplyDelete
  153. I have emailed JCrew twice in the past week asking questions, and I have to say that the CSR's responding have been GREAT. They were very nice and accommodating, and even gave me the extension to call them directly if I had any other questions.
In my mind JCrew is stepping up their game a little bit.

  154. Woah Tina M, those are some good deals! all for 96$ I'm jealous, lol.

  155. "Thanks!" to those who let us know J.Crew's site is not working. I just created a post with that info: J.Crew's Website Is Having Some Tech Difficulties :(

    ReplyDelete
  156. Anon at 6:25 PM

Read the email and it says "cannot be combined with any other offer or promotion." Guess that means sale is not promotion and therefore you can use the 30% on sale stuff, but if something in the store is 20% sweaters or 25% of suiting, you get only the 30% (or 20/25%).

Wish it weren't that way. I wonder what they'd say if your size was only available online, would they honor the in store price, plus the HOHOHO discount if you called from a red phone?

    ReplyDelete
  157. But the code DOES work on promotional items online. Like we've heard time and time again, things ending in 00 or 50 are only promotional, not sale. I used the code today and it DID work on promotional items

    ReplyDelete
  158. Anon @ 5:48 - thanks for the info from CS on the Aubrey. Sizing down 2 sizes is not an option for me, so looks like that jacket is a no go. Ah well, at least I saved some money (that I will undoubtedly spend on something else!)

  164. Hi all,

I'm vacillating between the Lady Day coat (in the hot pink thinsulate), the Carrie coat (in the white) and the Lille coat. Can anyone give me some advice about:
    1) Warmth? I'm here in the Northeast where it gets uber cold.
    2) Sizing? I normally wear a medium in J Crew stuff, and the only jacket I've bought is the Tuesday Trench which was missized (I got a 6). Should I be getting a 8 or a 10?
    3) Relative merits/detriments of the fits for those who have tried it in store.

    Thanks muchly!

  165. Just received the snow leopard Harlow blouse today and LOVE it!!! The fabric covered buttons running down the back of the shirt make it soo chic, reminds me of something vintage. I think it's a really special piece and a great deal too, so to the reader who was inquiring, the snow leopard harlow has my vote!!

    ReplyDelete
  166. Laura - I don't think your outfit is too dressy at all. The sparkle is on the shoes & it's a nice touch. I'm thinking a hose to match the shoes, instead of a nude one. Good luck w/it! Remember to accessorize. I think dangling earrings would look good and no other jewelry. Or small pearls/studs and a bracelet.

Anonymous - Slastena has the brewster suede short boots in her blog, I believe. They seem to go good with matchstick cords or jeans. I am looking forward to receiving mine.

Anonymous @ 4:46 PM & Dina - I was in Walnut Creek and they are still having an additional 30% off clearance. They are also having an additional 30% off of $200 on top of that. They got the memo that the online promo also applies in-store. HOWEVER, they are only doing the add'tl 30% off of $200 and not the other 2 tiers before that. You CANNOT use your 25% red card on top of the 30%.

So let me break it down. There is still 30% off of final sale items. I'm not sure about promo items. You can use your 25% red card on top of that. HOWEVER, if your total (after the addt'l 30%) is over $200, put your red card away because you get an addt'l 30% off,

Anonymous @ 2:30p said -- " Do the stores sometimes get things not available online? Or has it just not shown up yet?" ----> Anon, yes, sometimes the stores have items that are not online. I am not sure that all items in the store appear online. It is true that online items aren't always available in-stores and the site usually tells you that. However, J Crew is consistent in the inconsistency department and I swear I have seen things in-store that said online only. As far as what you saw, you may have saw a return, unless you saw multiples. Or you may have seen some of the new items. Stores got a shipment they are putting out this week.

Just got back from my local B&M and this ^ was exactly how I was rung up and the store mgr was the one who rang me up. I got 30% off sale, plus 25% off my entire order (inclduing things that rang up on promo). I could NOT use my red card (25% off) on top of the 25% tier promo that started today. Good luck with your suit! HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  168. Sorry one more thing (just saw gigi's post)...

My local B&M IS doing all three tiers (20% 25% 30%) but I had to ask about it. The store manager was like, "Oh yeah, that email, what were the tiers again? Ok".

So I think if you printed out the email and took it in, they would definitely do any tier. If anyone needs the email forwarded to them, let me know!

One more thing: Does anyone own the city fit harringbone crop pants?
    Thanks :)

    ReplyDelete
  171. Thanks everyone. The only problem I had was they didn't have my size in the suit jacket I wanted so I called from red phone and they said even though it's 25% off in store, they wouldn't match the in store price, it was either take the original + in store promo or take the online price + 30%.

    No way around it apparently.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Tina M - Thanks for the Clinton Crossing updates. I'm a fellow CT shopper, although I am more northern of you I think. Westfarms (Farmington) is my closest store. I always like to see who else is in the area with me! Sounds like you got some good deals!

    ReplyDelete
  173. Just to clarify, the sale items online aren't final sale right? In case I need to return something.

    ReplyDelete
  174. *anon @ 7:56*

Yes, San Diego! The store had all the resort stuff out (well, at least what limited selection they're going to get) plus a few new markdowns...teagan shirt to $69.99, merino t-necks to $39.99, pj pants to $29.99, and I think that's it that is a new markdown. Some stuff also got marked lower (like the Fionas, now $59.99).

I didn't look too much at the sale stuff since it's mostly the same as it's been, so there may be more that got lowered.

They also raised the sale % off to 30% and it's no longer FS (despite what the signs still say).

Elizabeth (tall, brunette mgr) rang me up and did the tier (20%,25%,30%) promo on top of the sale % off and the promo prices (ie, some sweaters are on promo now).

Let me know if you have any other specific ?s and I can try to recall.

Sorry for the long post everyone who's not in San Diego!

  183. MJ, I own a Lady Day coat w/Thinsulate and live in NYC. I have found it kept me warm enough. Yesterday with the blustery wind I was still fine in the Lady Day. I am usually a 6 in J.Crew tops but sized up to an 8 in the Lady Day. I found it to be a bit tight across the chest and back in a 6, so much so that I wouldn't have been able to comfortably wear a sweater under the coat. I am a 34D bust for guidance. The cut of the coat is gorgeous. Nice A-line, universally flattering. I have gotten compliments on the coat on the subway.

Sorry it took me awhile to get back to you; I had to do some work.

From what I remember, they had matchsticks in at least 2 colors (denim) and several colors of cords (under a table?), three or four new "resort" weight sweaters (a couple are on promo now), lots of "winter" sweaters on sale, cashmere t-necks and cardis, plus they had the maisie and teagan blouses, both on sale. They also had suiting blouses and the new Elizabeth/Bria hybrid blouse. I saw at least one Madeline, on a mannequin (I assume this is the ruffle dress you're referring to).

Your understanding of the discounts is correct.

    HTH!

  185. Anon- Re: the Snow Leopard Harlow- I am in LOVE with this print and ordered the blouse a month or so ago when it first was marked down. I ADORE it! Super high quality & classic.

  188. I actually found a item I was looking for myself so I ordered it. But when I called Customer Service they were unable to send the store search. Now I'll be receiving two of the same thing. Grr I hate returning stuff in stores! Although it's quicker than mailing it.

  189. How do the bathing suit tops run? I am a 34C (on the big side of C), usu wear size 4/S in tops. My frame is small, but my bust is large, and Im not sure which size to order. Do you recommend S, M, or D cup top?

Also, I am a 2 on bottom (large side of 2)-- should a S fit ok for the bottoms? Thanks!

  190. The HOHOHO order I placed on Monday just shipped. I am taking that as a good sign since it has a tracking number and everything. It would be awesome if it got here Friday :)

  191. Smarty,
Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! It's people like you, and Alexis, that make this blog so wonderful.
I did go to the Fashion Valley store and bought 7 items for $156.00. That made me very happy. I bought a black dress, 2 wool tnecks, pair of cords, 2 long sleeve tshirts for layering, and a cardigan.

The sale price, plus 30% off, plus the tier % off makes it a better deal than the website. I couldn't get through last night anyway. They need to fix that problem.

Anyway, I just wanted to thank Smarty.

  192. about bathing suits:

I wear a D cup bra, and I bought the D cup bathing suits and they fit just fine, so if you're a C i don't think you should go for the D. Also consider what type of top it is because with tie halter tops (which is what mine is) you can adjust the support by tying higher or lower.
