Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to take advantage of the post holiday sales, the additional 20%-30 off sales, or to see some new holiday arrivals in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic! Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  3. I know this may be a stretch, but has anyone seen the Morgan cozy cardigan in any stores? Looking for an XS (I think, anyone know how it runs?) When I saw it online, I did not think much of it, but I saw it on a friend today and it was so cute.

I live in CT, but any store will do ~ can always ship, right? Thanks!!

  12. I visited the Orlando J.Crew yesterday...they have 30% off Final Sale. The sale section seemed quite picked over, but there were some of the items left that seem to be in most of the stores...TONS of Matchstick cords and High Heel Flare Jeans. Quinn Camis, a couple of Hammered Silk Tanks in Navy size 10, Tissue Turtlenecks, lots of scarves, Spectator Mary Janes in Dusty Rose size 9.5, Almond Juliets in size 8, a Madeline dress in size 8, a couple of Madeline coats in Black and Ivory sizes 8, 10, 12, and a few Ecole Jackets. The store number is 407-226-9732. :)

  13. I don't think I'll be going to the store this weekend since I went yesterday to return online items. It was pretty picked over in the sale area. I was pleased to see some spring items at the front of the store.

I'm looking for the double serge skirt in bronzed ochre size 2, let me know if you see it in your store and I'll call for a charge send. Thanks!

  14. Has anyone seen the Madeline dress at any store in NJ? I went to three yesterday and no luck.

  15. Anon @ 3:02

Keep checking back at the website. My size in the ochre has been out for days. I was kicking myself for not ordering with the promos before Christmas. My size just popped up again this morning. We shall see if it actually arrives.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Anon 8:49am Not sure if this is one of the stores that you went to yesterday but I saw 8-10 of them at Tice's Corner this past Tuesday...201-391-4123. If the layout of the store hasn't changed, then upon entering the store they're on a little T stand (mixed with some other J. Crew collection items)at the very beginning of the sale section on the right hand side (just past the first "room" of the store).

    ReplyDelete
  17. mirna - i actually bought the ivory peacoat in one of the pre-christmas sales. i really love it. it's classic looking. and yes i am worried about it getting dirty, however i haven't worn it on crappy days, just "dry" days. i'm just prepared to dry clean a little more often. it's really a cute coat though.

  18. I would like to say thank you for all being so crazy into J.Crew-- I am not totally into JC b/c it's a little above my price point (and I didn't get the embroidered critters on the clothing thing)-- but this has been a really great source of opinions and reviews that I used to do some research into a new winter coat (Madeline w/ thinsulate).

    Thank you!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. kt,

Glad yo found what you are looking for.....

I am glad I waS crazy for JCrew and bought lots in the years 2002--2006. Their quality is declining rapidly and their price point keeps going up.

I have really limited what I buy from them since summer. Customer service used to be good but is very inconsistent anymore as well.

I will still look to JCrew when in true NEED but won't be "crazy for them" much longer....

    ReplyDelete
  20. I doubt I'll be hitting a j.crew for several weeks now, until their spring stuff is in. Their winter stuff has been picked over, and 20% or 30% off + final sale nonsense doesn't interest me.

  21. Is the Greta coat warm enough for a midwestern winter? PS: Indy store 317-848-2739 has the patent leather dusty rose peep toes in 8 and 9. The Glenbrae maple leather boots in 8 and 9 for $159.99 less 30%.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Can you get thinsulate in it? I think that helps.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Anon 10:02
Were the Glenbrae boots you saw flat or high-heel? Would you say the maple color is red-brown or dark brown IRL? Thanks so much for your help!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I read the description for the Greta coat but it doesn't mention thermore/thinsulate. This would be my first wool JCrew coat. I'm tired of my puffer coats, style wise. Has anyone worn their Greta on these teen degree days. Granted, I'm not going to be outdoors for hours on end, but it would be nice to stay warm while commuting, going to car, etc.

  25. I'm looking for the maggie camel jacket in size 0. If anyone finds one in their stores, please let me know. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I saw the maggie camel and heather grey in Walnut Creek early this week, they must have been returns ~ size 6, but they were full price (store having 20% off). Sale section very picked over. OT, I have gotten tons of compliments on the tres roses putty cami (a great layering piece).

    ReplyDelete
  27. Dear CES: They were high heel and they look like a dark brown to me. When you say red-brown, I think of Coach's Legacy collection WHISKEY colored bags and boots. They look like dark brown with a slight, weathered finish to them--not that super smooth calfskin singular color you see such as in Cole Haan Vitalia/Fiona boots or the J Crew Rivington boots. You may want to call to see if they're still there, though, as they were galloping out the doors. Had they had them in my size, I would have swooped up a pair for myself. 317-848-2739.

I didn't look too closely at the shoe selection but they had a good many there on a good sale. i'm heading back through Charlotte on Tuesday and might pop in just to see what all they have left, but I got some good deals yesterday with the 20% off.

  38. The store in Jacksonville, FL is doing 30% off and will also honor the 15% student/educator discount. I got the Astrid floral jacket for $41 and two Maisie shirts for $17 each. Great finds! 41. Hi all! Went into my BM today and was kinda fun because they put catalog returns on the floor so I was able to try on a few things with the thought that if they go down a bit more on line at least I'll know my size. They had many different styles of cashmere sweaters and a few of the on line coats. I saw a sparkle tweed aubrey so I thought I'd slip it on for size - it was a 6 - knowing I already had the herringbone aubrey in my on line cart. Welllll it fit perfectly and I fell in love with it! Great feminine lines with a very flattering fit. I sometimes wear an 8 in jackets, but I would definitely size down on this one. Love it!!! It's a great piece and I don't think we've talked much about it on this blog. On line it's $199, but the store had it at
$149, plus additional 30%, plus my educator's 15% so I bought it for just under $90!!!. Now I'm definitely ordering the aubrey herringbone in the berry color - it's down to $79.99 - the herringbone gives the jacket a much more casual feel, so I can justify both, right?:)

  48. Mirna, there's an ivory peacoat currently listed on ebay. size XS. looks like it needs a cleaning but could be a good deal. good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Mirna, I have the plaza coat in ivory and I wear it when the weather will not be messy. I'm also careful to ensure I don't lean on or brush against my car when it hasn't been washed. Just a little extra care will keep the ivory coat clean. It is a beautiful color, worth it IMO. Even if you cannot wear it every day, you will certainly enjoy it when you do wear it.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Mirna,
The Walnut Creek, CA store had a whole rack of ivory pea coats yesterday - many sizes. They were $179 + 30% off. You might try giving them a call if you decide to go with the pea coat.

  51. Went into the Ann Arbor B&M to do some online returns today. Sale was 30% off sale prices and back to dreaded final sale. Lots of cords and some coats, candy Ts and a table of pjs. Meh.

On a brighter note, the Lori henley I'd ordered was left out of the last order I made before Christmas, and a very nice rep reordered a substitute sweater that was more expensive but is only charging me what I'd been charged for the Lori. It's supposed to arrive on Tuesday, I can't wait! I just hope that the the money part goes well without another round of emails or calls. They refunded the initial amount I was charged for the Lori, then I had to place an order for the replacement, then they were going to refund the shipping and price difference between the two. Has there been any problems for other aficionadas with transactions like this or shouldn't I be worried?

has anyone tried the crawford blouse? i got a 6 and it seems a bit big on me (definitely not a "classic fit") ... is it just me, or do their catalog items have THE most sizing inconsistencies??

also, i'm actively looking for a harlow blouse in white, size four and a snow leopard simone peacoat (size 4 or 6, not too sure on the fit..) thoughts/recommendations are appreciated!!!

The toothpick jeans are fabulous, I love them. I purchased a few weeks back and have been rocking them with everything including pumps and boots. They are fitted and compliment all my curves. I would encourage you to give them a try. I purchased without seeing them or trying them on. I did notice that they seem to rum a bit small...I purchased 27 and 28. The 28 fit fine, returned the 27. I am hoping J.Crew will release some other rinses as well.

Try them and let us know!

  64. Does anyone know what 'releasable' means next to your waitlisted order?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Anon @4:31pm: Releasable should mean that it is ready to go to the warehouse to be shipped to you. Keep an eye on your credit card, and if it gets billed for the item, then it should be on it's way to you. When you click on the order number does it say OPEN?

    ReplyDelete
  66. I just got back from my B&M and found a fabulous coat. I am not sure of the name - it is style 11137. I got it in navy for $105.00 it is a wool/cashmere blend and I love it. There was not much else left.

  67. Melissa, bookmark the page for the skirt and check it a couple of times daily. I did that and was able to get the skirt in black, ivory and bright blue, which were the colors I wanted. 68. I was at the Easton Town Center Store in Columbus Ohio today and didn't see that much variety. They had a TON of candy tees in every color and a variety of sizes. I did find a shirt that I had wanted from the online store, but it was marked $69.99 instead of the $19.99 that it is online. They couldn't give it to me for the reduced price, but they did offer to send it back to the warehouse so I could buy it from them.

As for the comments about falling out of love with JCrew, I too feel your pain. I normally go to JCrew for unique items and stick to places like Gap for the basics. I bought a lot recently, but I bought the unique yet heavily reduced items (the $90 sweater for $19.99/$29.99 type of stuff) because that is what I can justify to spend on myself right now.

  75. Hi Anon@4:31! That does sound confusing! I would say to keep an eye on the credit card you used to place the order...that's how I noticed that my waitlisted item was going to ship over a month early. The authorization was placed on my card, then I checked my account on the J.Crew website, and it was showing up. After that I received an email that it had actually shipped with a working tracking number. I hope this means your item is on the way! You might also try calling CS to see if they know anything about it. Good luck! :)

  79. Hi, I have also been in the San Fran Westfield Center store the past 2 days. It is very picked over in terms of sale but I noticed a pair of Dusty Rose Spectator Peep toes in the window today - they are a Size 7 - so if anyone wants them call the store and ask for the ones out of the window. There was also a pair of Metallic Lulus w the satin bow - I couldn't get to that part of the window:) but they looked like a big size - at least 9, maybe 10. I agree they have the Spring/Resort stuff. There are some nice suede shoes the style of the Claudia pumps in pastel colors. Also some peep toes in a sort of fabric (linen maybe) with thin contrast pastel binding. And flats etc. The only cashmere left on sale is in L sizes, some turtlenecks in pinks, papaya, and long sleeve tees in mainly bright colors but there was one in light spearmint in a large.

They did have a rack of Victoria camis for $59.99 with an extra 30% off, I forget which colours, sorry! Today I went down to the Rochester Hills store and it had a huge sale section, tons of candy tees, dream cable crew necks in a variety of colours, lots of wool minis, two of the tailored wool tank dresses (sizes 6 and 8) one tailored wool rosette tank dress (size M). 95. For MN shoppers - the JCrew in St. Paul had quite a few styles of the candy t-shirts in several sizes. The JCrew at Mall of America is picked over, however, they are getting a lot of returns. I was lucky and picked up a brown velvet ecole jacket and a three cashmere sweaters (all returns).

  97. Regarding the men's cotton cashmere sweaters. I bought a few of these for my bf on super sale and just love the feel of the material! I wish they would drop dream fabric and go with a cotton cashmere blend for women. They seem true to j crew men's sizes and I recommend them! A great buy!

  99. Anon @6:31
I sized down on the sweater, based on recommendations from others on this blog, and that worked great. Even with a perfect-fit long sleeved T underneath it, sizing down gave me a fit that was just right. BTW, I think it's a very nice sweater-- good cut and very soft! HTH!

  100. OT - There were a couple of spring items in the local B&M: Victoria ruffle camis in light grey, cotton taffeta polka dot skirt in beige, etc. I am glad to see that J.Crew carries new items in neutral colors after several high-colored seasons. Can’t wait to see spring catalog!

  101. The Boston Copley store had two Bronzed Ochre pencil skirts in size 10 at 30% off. I think they also had some of the persimmon (not sure of sizes) and lots of size 12 in the herringbone black and sweet papaya pencil and camel wool twill pencil. Possibly some tens in the other pencils, but mostly 12's.

Also had 2 floral fabric trim Astrids, some camel wool twill astrids, a black wool flannel astrid in 10 with the abstract rose trim in the lining, a hideous fluorescent yellow herringbone Astrid and some pink and green boucle Astrids.

I saw one online today- a few camels were added, but are selling quickly.

  110. I went to a J. Crew on Friday to take advantage of the post-Christmas sales, and found 2 dresses as part of the extra 30% off sale prices promotion they were doing. I found a beautiful gray jumper-like dress with two jewel buttons at the waist, and a blue dress with a ruffle neckline -- both in a cotton blend. I almost never see size 12 dresses on the clearance rack in the stores I frequent, so I was very happy to find two.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I went to the Towson JCrew to look for a navy Portland cardi. They are 39.99 online and I'd hoped for a better B&M price. But they were on 'promotional sale' for $59.50 in the store, with no extra % off (Apparently the extra % off is only for items ending in .99). It's cheaper online $39.99 + 20% off. The cardi is beautiful - 100% merino wool, very soft, and wears beautifully. I have one in black and it looks great.

  118. I just stumbled upon this site a few days ago. I was at the Towson, MD store Saturday. Manged to get pair of Salina black patent leather ballet flats, size 9 (a little big, usually a 8 1/2) for $11.89. I was very excited. Apparently they were a display, marked 19.99 plus 30% and 15% student (which the other cashier said they weren't supposed to do?)

I also wanted to know if anyone had the Roll Collar Sabrina Dress. How is the cut? I was looking at getting on-line for a wedding I am singing at in February but with final sale I am a little leery. I am well endowed at the top, usually wear a 12 or 14 in their dresses if cut correctly.

  132. Hi! Has anyone seen the men's wool driving cap in charcoal herringbone- L/XL at a B&M recently? Or have one that you would be willing to sell?

My boyfriend had his eye on this particular hat for months, and I wanted to get it for him for Christmas. I was finally able to find a L/XL at a B&M, but must have completely spaced when puchasing it because he tried it on and it didn't fit! I had accidentally gotten a S/M :( Now all the stores I've tried have been sold out.

He was so pumped and then so disapointed-I would reeaally appreciate if anyone has any ideas as to how I can get him the right size. (my email is crtwohy@csbsju.edu)

Great blog by the way- I've quickly become more and more obsessed with J.Crew.

Featherweight waffle henleys are fitted but not skin tight. If you prefer relaxed style, you may want to size up. I bought it in my usual size and it works perfectly for me (sleeves are little bit long for me, though). The ribbon curls up every time I machine wash (need to iron it), but I do love this henley!! 134. went to KOP yesterday, it was crazy!
I got a pair of Alessia Mary Jane pumps in cool graphite (store only?) for $48 (reg. $250). Had several pairs in ivory and a few in the bright rose. Also had a bunch of juliet pumps (mostly yellow) and spectator peeptoes in pink, and the closed toe spectators in rust.

I got the Alessia's in 7H b/c my heel was slipping out of the 8. a tiny bit tight in the toe, but I think once I break them in they'll be ok.

There were several duchamp astor jackets and university trousers. I didn't look at sale clothes too much, though, the store was so packed.

    ReplyDelete
  135. ps: echoing what Jeff said, the men's section at KOP was pretty bare. Definitely not as much leftover merch as the women. They had a couple blazers on sale, and then the typical stuff--boxers, polos, thermals, etc.

  136. So, any thoughts out there...what's the NEXT offer from J Crew online? The 20% off "FINAL SALE" was not tempting in the least to regular J Crewers.

  140. Anon at 2:19: I have the flat Glenbrae boots in graphite suede and I LOVE them. They run TTS, and are really comfy. Good luck!

  141. anon 2:12 : 2008 is a year best to be left forgotton, between their website issues, fs, high prices with declining quality, customer service not up to their gold standard it is a year not worth remembering. I am losing patience with them, in the new year I will be purchasing alot less than I have in previous seasons. It is just time to stop spending.

    ReplyDelete
  142. KMel: I, too, have the Nola cashmere and it's very nice..I sized up as well, as I didn't like the tighter fit modeled on the site. I think if I had ordered my normal size (M) it would have eventually stretched out (especially since I'm wearing it so much LOL!), but for a more relaxed fit, you may want to order up (to accommodate tees underneath and such).

I have it in the navy and it goes with everything... :)

When I went away over the holiday they handled my suitcase too harshly and even though I had the foresight to put my perfume in a plastic baggie, the bottle broke and all the perfume leaked out of the baggie and onto my beloved belt. 148. Quick idea for the person who asked about storing extra buttons (I'm channeling my inner Martha Stewart here. Ommm.):

Take a pic of the item (like a Polaroid or just a quick digital pic that you can print out) and tape the button packet (or a ziplock baggie) to the pic of the item, then file them in a box by type of item (skirts, blouses, etc).

Or skip the picture step and just put the buttons in storage baggies labeled with the name/description of the corresponding item and then group them by item type within larger labeled baggies or manila envelopes. Throw those back into your shoebox, and voila.

That said, mine are in a useless jumble in a shoebox too. But if you ever need a rainy-day project, there you have it. HTH :)

  149. I'm wondering if anyone else has run into this issue: I've always been able to use my educator's discount along with Extra20 and other promotions, but today, the J. Crew customer service rep said they couldn't do it, because the promotion allows only one offer at once. I'm pretty surprised, because it's never been an issue in the past. I know I'm lucky enough to get the discount in the first place, but I'm disappointed. Thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  150. Extra Button Person:

I staple the JCrew tag - or whatever hang tag - to the button pouch. Many times, the hang tag or label has a description of the item. If not, I write on the tag what the item is. Although my buttons are all in a cigar box too (like VM's), it's easier to find the correct button when I need it.

  172. Crewcrazy, I got a merino ruffleneck this summer and love it. It is the featherweight merino, so not too warm. However, I liked it so much I ordered the ruffleneck in cashmere once it went on sale but it was really thin, too. The styling is the same on both- slightly cropped length, three quarter sleeves, and very thin. The cashmere says it is twelve gauge like the majority of the regular collection cashmere, but I found this particular ruffleneck cardi to be thinner than most. Most likely you'd be able to see whatever is underneath in any color except black or navy. I ended up returning the cashmere and ordering another merino ruffleneck cardi in the desert brown. The price is much better and the quality seems to be even with the price which I can't always say about the cashmere items I've gotten lately. Either way you go the ruffle is super cute and I'm very happy with my two ruffleneck sweaters. Good luck!

  176. Hi KMel @12:56. I bought 2 Nola cashmere sweaters in Heather Grey and I LOVE them. I wish I had snagged another 2 (in the same color or in putty). I bought them during the TURKEY promo for $97 + tax, which is a great deal. My only issue with them is that the inside button tends to "unbutton". I´m hoping it will not pill as much as other JCrew sweaters, it shouldn´t given that it is thicker than the average JCrew cashmere.
OT, I have also bought the Cashmere Chunky sweater (several of them, I must admit - the deals were too good to pass up) and it is much cuter on me than on the website pic. I have worn it quite a bit and so far, no pilling! It is very thick and luxurious, definitely worth the money.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I LOVE THESE JEANS! Final Sale is a little risky now with the sizing, but if you can try them on at the store, definitely do so. The wash is slightly more casual, but the style makes them versatile. You can make them casual or dressy! I have two pairs of these jeans because the price is so great! Love love love them. 182. To Anon/TIA at 12:47: My husband loves the cotton cashmere sweaters- I've bought him at least 5-6 in several different colors. This year I bought him the navy cardigan in cotton cashmere. They are very soft and fit pretty well (true to size) and I always get them on sale. We buy a few each year when they are marked down.

By the way, I was in the Burlingame, CA store today doing returns :) They had an extra 30% off Final Sale. I overheard another SA say to a customer that item he was purchasing was a final sale BUT if wanted to be able to return it, he could buy it without the extra 30% off.

Has anyone else heard of this at their stores? At least this gives us another option if we are on the fence about a particular item.

  183. Laura - agree with you on the jeans. I got the high heel flares at my B&M - $49.99, 30% off sale, 15% college discount = $32 including tax.

They are perfect, low cost, dressy jeans. Size 27 fits me perfectly / wear size 2 in other pants at jcrew.

definitely a great deal. one note for the shorter ladies though. I am 5'6" and they are *almost* too long with my highest heels.

    ReplyDelete

  188. Maria Ruffle Cardi; The Maria seems to be sold out now. I have this sweater. I usually wear a SM but opted for a MED so it wouldn't be as fitted as on the JC model. Glad I did. It's a darling cardi - reminds me of something Audrey Hepburn would have worn. :) I'm 5'8" it hits about an inch lower than the Argyle V-neck cardi that I have a picture of on my blog. I layer it over a longer tank or tee to balance the cropped look.

  189. Went to Lenox Square J.Crew today (Atlanta). Final sale is extra 30% off. Very picked over. Lots of cashmere Ts in size XL. Did get a cashmere bateau sweater - it runs huge, got a S even tho an XS probably would have been better, but it's a pretty purple and was 30% off plus 15% off student discount, came out to $41. Also got a Lea cardigan for $23.

After my Rivington boot experience where they fit HUGE in my regular size, I'm reluctant to order JC boots without having a better idea of what to expect.

  191. A Bigger Closet: thanks! I also posted a reply on your blog. Darn - I should've ordered it while I had the chance. I'll have to keep an eye out for it because I love the closures and the rose neckline. It looked perfect. Oh well, there will be another 'perfect' someday...

  192. A Bigger Closet: I have a pair of flat Glenbrea's in a size 9. My pair is going back but I'll run & try it on again & take measurements for you. Be back in a few...

  193. Some Measurements for Size 9 flat Glenbrae's:

    - Bottom of boot (sole): 11" from heel to tip of toe

    - Widest part of boot sole (just before the start of your toes) is:
    3-3/4"

Very comfortable fit and I have on my JCrew wool knee high socks. I say they fit tts as I wear a size 9 in all JCrew shoes & boots.

I'm returning my pair of Glenbrae's because:
#1 I don't care for the sandstone color (reminds me of the apes faces in Planet of the Apes-weird),

    #2 I kept the Harlow boots, &

#3 I have another pair of flat Glenbrea's in the darker color on their way to me. HTH even though I don't have the sizes you requested.

  194. Anon 6:20pm- I have the Penny and really like it. I think that it runs a little big except in the shoulders. I could have sized down, but hate jackets that are too small becuase I love to layer. I have it in Ivory.

  196. Does anyone else do this? I look at merchandise from other stores and think, "If JCrew made this would I buy it?" Sometimes I feel like such a addict for (almost) anything JCrew!

  197. twiga, thanks so much. I can't stand being constricted in the shoulders, and also want to be able to layer. Is the jacket warm, or lightweight boucle, would you say? thanks again.

    anon about the penny.

  198. anon at 9:25 - not to be a jerk, but sometimes I do the opposite
~ i think an item looks like j.crew style, but probably better made (esp. at stores like nordstrom, nm, talbots). Sadly, I don't think j.crew quality is anywhere near where it was even a year ago.

  199. Suilove - I returned a pair of dusty rose spectator peep toes (size 6.5) to the Princeton, NJ store before xmas. I also saw a number of snow leopard dresses at the KOP store before xmas. Sorry this info is so outdated, but I thought you might appreciate a couple of leads.

Anon at 3:02am: KOP had a bronzed ochre double-serge in size 8 yesterday.

KOP also had a number of duchamp astor jackets, though I'm not sure on the sizes available. They had a ton of skinny patent leather belts for $25.

  200. Maria Ruffle; thanks so much for the Glenbrae measurements. That helps a lot with deciding on a size. I really like them in the Graphite color but still on the fence about ordering as Final Sale. I still have a few hours to decide - who knows there may be a better deal on them tomorrow morning! :)
