Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to take advantage of using your Red Card, to see what's available in the Spring Sale, or to see some new Summer arrivals {wahoo!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. At Fashion Valley in San Diego, they had a stack of shell ringspun rosette tees, as well as the tee in white(!). They also had the watercolor skirt, some beaded tees, and some swimwear marked down to $20/piece. The pique dress was also marked down to $19.99.

  2. Has anyone seen the harbour Oxford Capri in the store?

  3. Any news from Cambridge, MA? I will report; will most likely be visiting tomorrow to do a return & exchange & check out any new items (and of course, the sale section!)

  4. I was just looking @ the new catalog online-- I love the colors- I am a fan of pastels and the like, also am liking the cotton pencil skirt, new colors of the garland cami, and a few other things- BUT (and there is always a but)- 1. I am not a fan of the bright red lipstick, and 2. In a few of the pics, the models look uncomfortably thin. And I don't mean this to offend anyone- I'm thin myself-- but they could do with some variety in size- I don't mean necessarily using all plus size models, but come on, a size 4 or 6 model (esp if they are 5'10"+) would not be so bad! You don't have to be stick-thin to be fashionable, JCrew!

  5. No trip to JCrew this weekend for me. I like pastels too but TRUE pastels. Most of the colors in this season's palette are washed out neutrals not what I consider true pastel shades. I can wear pastels..hey, I grew up in the 90's and I still have lots of my mint green and pastel sweaters in a tote but these shades do not work on me. I am really disappointed but it had made me branch out to other stores after 7 years of 90% JCrew so that is good. I am finding good fit and cute clothes and better quality overall.

  6. I was bummed that I didn't buy a nice winter coat this past winter sale, but I just noticed that they put up a couple more.. and bought the classic peacoat in bright orange in a size small.. I hope the color is as cute as I'm envisioning.. :)

  7. Princess: the peacoat is great, you can't go wrong. I have several JC coats and IMO they are one of the FEW things still made with the detailing and quality I used to love in all their things! I usually wait til sale + percent off at the end of a season ... I have scored a collection of $99 Lady's and Madeline's in great colors that way.

Maybe that explains some of the ennui with current offerings ... fall and winter are so much better at JC!

  8. I'm headed there Saturday to see the new items and try on the watercolor skirt. :) I'll report back after my trip.

  9. I am only liking one item in the new arrivals (and it is not the water color skirt--I already own a similar JCrew print skirt from spring a few years ago...I am not a fan of pencil skirts for summer. I want some swish around my legs and a breeze:)
Anyway, holding out for my rewards card which should be coming soon.

  15. Ciji--
Did the Greensboro store add a lot of new sale items this week? Last week they had the Michelle cardis, the Saturday pants, and a few other items but nothing really new in the sale section. I just wanted to know if it would be worth the trip this afternoon.
    Thanks!

  17. DC-area JCAs: I stopped by the Friendship Heights store yesterday afternoon, full of anticipation... and was profoundly disappointed! They have some new arrivals, but generally I felt like the store was 85% tees and casual pants. Hmmm, come to think of it, weren't there comments on a post a week or two ago saying that JC would be shifting its stock in B&Ms to a heavier emphasis on basics? Well, that's exactly how it felt at the FH store last night!

Oh, and also-- the sale section was tiny-- I noticed several gateau skirts, khaki shorts, that sweatshirty cardigan that so many JCAs love, saturday pants, and a table of jeans. Blah. I was soooo bummed y'all! Going to try and make it to the Gtown store this afternoon to see if the selection is better there...

  18. I'm headed out to Easton to return a bunch of stuff purchased on sale the last few weeks (the Peacock Jacket...so not what I was expecting...) I'm hoping to pick up a couple of the fringe scarves and maybe a few more boyfriend v-neck tissue tees (I saw one in dark persimmon on my last visit and near as I can tell they don't offer that color online). Gotta use that 25% off card while I still can!

  19. I had a little more luck with Montgomery Mall last night:
new catalogue is out, store had new jewelry (love crystal chandelier bracelet and new floral earrings and ring), new merchandise included beaded tees, corsage tees, rosette tees in pink and white, floral pencil skirts, new graphic tees, summerweight cashmere, summer dresses. Sale section tuced in aback and large, but not nothing new- cashmeer oyfriendcrdigans, Michelle sweaters in XS opr XL, tons of summer dresses adn tees, french terry cardis in all colors, tons of pants and denims.

I only bought small canvas tote in Natural and Michelle cardi in dusty rose ($14.99 with red card). Really unexcited by the new roll over.

  20. The Super 120s Jayne Dress is on sale for $70 in stores (not online). Unfortunately all NYC stores were sold out of it and phone customer service will not honor in-store price if the item is sold out. If anyone sees a navy in 6/8 in-store I would love to know. :) TIA.

  25. Hi all,

In light of all the comments, I thought it may be helpful to repost a comment I made on another post.

I saw some of the new arrivals on Monday and overall, not impressed.

Watercolor Floral Skirt - The pink is very bright, and the pattern is very big and overwhelming. I would probably wear it with neutral tops to tone it down. I decided to pass on it, since I was not in love and I figured it was so bright that it really could only be worn the spring/summer months. Also, I think it's such a statement piece that it will be noticeable each time you wear it. I won't be able to get away with it to more than one graduation/shower/party etc.

Tried on the beaded tee in the washed stone (darker tan), and it was really pretty. I definitely would need to size up. It was tight in the shoulders. I like that it had a slight scoop and not a crew neck. However, at the price point and overall look, I passed on it for now. The stone color (lighter tan) was too pale for me. The beads kind of blended in to it.

There were some ring spun v neck (i.e., necklace T) and crew neck T's with a watercolor/handpainted print. The one I tried on was the necklace T in white v neck with an aqua print (only lavender and gray online). The colors were great for the summer, but not a fan. The bottom seam/hem was left unfinished, so it rolled up on me and seemed a bit messy. It is a fitted T, and TTS. I did not try on the crew neck versions, but they were white or washed stone with a very vibrant floral print with corals. The white version is cute, and I picked this one up.

There were new capris (one was the harbour capri in oxford), both with a 1 inch cuff and 100% cotton. One style was classic fit (not online, not sure of name but was a twill material) and the other was city fity (harbour capri). The classic fit had a rumpled texture to them, and I tried on in dark persimmon color. The city fit style I tried on in stone and the pale blue. The rise and fit of both pants were the same, not sure what the difference really was other than a slight change in texture. They were definitely TTS. However, for myself, I did not like either, but they looked super cute. They felt very stiff to me, and I much prefer the cafe capri and the cocktail capris, mostly due to the stretch. Also, I thought they were an odd length too. They seemed even a bit longer than the cafe capris (which I think are a fairly long capri), and seemed to cut my leg off. They felt like I was trying on a pair of petite or ankle length pants, when I should be wearing a regular.

I tried on the slub cotton pleated front tank that came in a light pewter, white, navy, and breeze/fresh mint. It was a good fit on top, but as someone mentioned previously, it had victoria ruffle style pleats vertically in a poplin material that fanned out towards the bottom and puffed out a bit. The flare/puff out was similar to the smocked tissue T from fall, but not as substantial. However, it was borderline unflattering...one of those tops that I thought people would wonder if I was pregnant. I would definitely size down in this one. It was priced at $29.50. I was tempted, but the final deciding factor was an already developed hole along the seam at the bottom where the care tag is stitched. And, this was brand new, just pulled from the stock room.

There was the ombre pencil skirt that was gray on top with some yellow tie dye effect towards the bottom. This definitely did not appeal to me.

They had the metallic and classic cotton ruffle tunics, but they had a wrinkled effect that was too much for my liking.

Flamingo and tea rose were added as another color to the mix for some of the already existing pieces (chino shorts, cotton boyfriend cardigans). It somewhat matches the vibrant pinks in the watercolor skirt.

Some new perfect tank colors, or colors that were brought back again anyways.

There were some new jackie cardigan colors, washed stone, breeze, and light petunia (mix between violet and fucshia). I did buy these colors. I did not see spring daisy yet.

    HTH!

  27. Just called the Rockefeller Center store to purchase the Ringspun cotton rosette tee in white (size small) (item #13126). Thanks to all the JCAs who mentioned its availability! **Special thanks to Ema over at http://ema-shoppingmycloset.blogspot.com/ for the IRL photos - I didn't even know this tee existed until last night! So excited! :)

  28. It's funny--I was excited about the new arrivals yesterday, but today I find myself wondering what, if anything, I'm going to purchase. I am waffling on two items, and two items only, out of the whole lot. Maybe it's the economy, or the amount I spent on FS fall/winter stuff, or maybe it is the fact that when it comes down to it, I don't like/need more of the same.

  30. Hi! Went to Pentagon City yesterday (where I ran into drewablank...so FUNNY and awesome). I liked what they had out...but it felt sparse. The sale section was weak and ended up getting only one thing from it...mainly because I couldn't find anything I liked in my size. I bought the rolling ruffles tissue tank in dark charcoal in a size medium (WAY TOO BIG)...but I know my tailor can definitely make it fit so it was worth the 15 dollars or so I spent on it. If you want this color and size I think there was one more left (as of 5 pm yesterday). They also have some rolling ruffles tanks in the shell color in xs and medium (the xs fit but the color was AWFUL on me).

They had a bunch of the shell-colored rosette tees (bought one in a medium--fits nicely--not too tight...not too loose).

I also saw limited numbers of the summerweight cashmere short-sleeved cardigans (on sale for 99 dollars). The new stuff they had looked nice but none of the new stuff looked good for me or on me. :)

I think I may have to order on-line any of the new items I want...

By the way...every single sales associate remembered me from the JCA event. Wow. That was kind of cool. (And sort of scary...our pharmacist is the same way...remembers us WAY TOO WELL...)

Hope this info helps someone out there...

What is the 'Twisted Crystal Necklace'?

    Thanks :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. anon 11:39: Me too, there is only 1 or 2 items I find tempting to buy. The colors are dull, the long cardigans are too long, and not to mention the quality and sizing issues. It makes it easy to not to buy.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I am considering only a single item from the new releases and it is less and less appealing each time I look at it. There are a few things from previous releases that I might buy, if they go on sale or a promotion is available.

Very uninspiring, certainly won't get me into the store this weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Anon at 12pm sorry the Twisted Crystal necklace is style # 11152. It's been out for a super long time (maybe since winter?) but I just found out that they put it on sale for $39.99 and i guess they're all gone now!

    :( I missed my chance!

  35. Help Me Decide Which Coat to KeepApril 24, 2009 at 1:51 PM

  36. Hi Ashley,

  37. Anon@ 12:06

I totally agreed. I couldn't find the consistency of Jcrew size. I usually wear S in most of the brands, but for Jcrew, it has to be one size up and one size down (e.g. M in solid washed tank& perfect fit tees, XS in cashmere cadigan& ruffle tank) and it's hard because I always shop online.

Yesterday, I went to B&M and found the tissue ruffle tank in warm blush & grey size S on sale ($29.99), so I snag them both (I tried on the warm blush one and it looked nice on me). Then when I got home, I tried the grey and it seemed big (like M), I used the measurement tape and found it's 2" bigger than the blush one ...so I have to go back to the store and do the return.

    -"-

Ps. Lesson learned, always try on everything before buying.

  38. The new roughed out leather belt is just awful. That might be the last straw for me. What are these designers thinking???? I think I will run out to Goodwill and pick up a belt exactly like this...No, wait, their belts are even nicer than this one...maybe in a random garbage can.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Like jackie from DC, slastena and dinagideon, I'm from the DC area -so here are my thoughts and experience with the B&M in Pentagon City (where I ran into the ever-so-sweet dinagideon!).

The sale section was quite sparse - nothing much of interest. A couple of gateau skirts, metallic linen bermuda shorts, halter dresses, a ton of painter tees, a handful of faille maisey jackets (in champagne) and washed ruffle collar (Keegan) trench (in white).

I agree with jackie from DC in observing that the B&M's seem to be on their way to "basic"-ifying their stock. The suits (which always had a prominent placing in the front of the store, given the B&M's location to various business districts) were place in a corner in the back of the store. But then again, I have noticed that J.Crew does veer towards casual wear when summer nears, and more into not-so-casual in fall and winter.

As for my finds, I was able to find some pieces that I do love (and got at a bargain with the 25% off discount card and the $10 gift card from the DC JCAs shopping event!)- the watercolor floral pencil skirt (the colors are bright, like love2shop4bags said, but perfect for this time and anytime you need a pick-me-up in your day! Size down one, for me.) and the lightweight gauze Marbella cover-up dress (fits TTS).

The cover-up was a complete surprise for me, but my good friend, T, at the Pentagon B&M showed me the various ways you can wear it, and I was in love! He showed me how it was worn in the catalog as a blouse with the tie worn as a ribbon in front; as a cover-up on its own as a halter; as tunic (worn with the tie as a belt, halter or just plain strapless) with jeans or leggings; or even as a spunky little mini-dress! I was sold! :D

Oh, and a pair of the faded chambray seaside pants (which I've had my eye on for a while now -fits TTS). :p

  40. I am supposed to be studying for law school finals all weekend... but I might venture to J.Crew just to return some stuff I ordered online that totally disappointed me. 42. T. at 8:26--Sorry I didn't get a chance to respond earlier. The sale section in Greensboro was pretty well stocked with Saturday pants and a lot of cardigans. There were a few gems mixed in (I scored a pair of pink cafe capris for $19.99!), some skirts, a lot of button down shirts, and just a few dresses. (I really enjoy shopping at that store!) Did you get a chance to stop by today?

  43. I went to the Cambridgeside Galleria yesterday, and there wasn't much. The sale section has been very picked over, though there were hot pink zebra t's in L and XL? They were offering the perfect fit short sleeve t's for $15.

  44. Old Orchard Mall, IL

Sale section was just ok. Lots of cotton tanks (with embellishments near the neck), rumpled terry hoodies, the "Grandpa" sweatshirt cardigans, belts, a few zebra tees and some beach dresses. While I love the beach dress, I have nearly every color already and purchased many for only $12.99 (!!!) during one of the crazy JC online sales last year. I ended up finding the last Michelle cardigan in the store ($14.99 with red card) and picked up 2 of those Grandpa cardigans.

Off topic, I also ran into Martin + Osa for the heck of it. Has anyone here ever tried shoes from Bloch? Are they comfy/worth the price? TIA!

  46. That's disappointing if in fact j.crew is moving towards their stores being mostly basics. I don't buy basics like tees at jcrew because i've found them poorly made and overpriced. I do like some of their more unique offerings, especially their jackets - not the suiting ones, but the special ones, like the astrid, the san telmo, etc. But I doubt I'll bother to order because I'd have to order three of the same probably to test the fit, which would mean the headache of returning.

not a smart business plan at all, IMO, on jcrew's part. Then again, i've bought exactly one item from them since january. Their spring stuff has left me cold.

  51. 2:35 p.m.: The roughed-out belt has been a round since last fall, and has probably been the most frequently featured accessory in the last couple of catalogs. Not sure why you are so surprised by it. The belt epitomizes J.Crew high brow/low brow aesthetic.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Noticed that the models are very skinny too, but I don't agree that featuring a size 4 or 6 rep. real women, a size 4/6 is still a SMALL, perhaps feature some size 8-10-12 would be more realistic, bec. the avg size woman is a size 14.

    ReplyDelete
  53. What is the red card?! I'm a cardholder and a big j crew shopper and I don't have one and don't even know what it is.. sounds good though!

  54. How about featuring some models with some fump? NOW that would REALLY be realistic. Hardy, har, har.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Went to the Kierland store in Scottsdale. I love their SA's - they are so nice.

I picked up some chino shorts with the red card and tried on a few new things. I tried the cotton ruffle tunic, but it's not really my style. I wanted the ruffle part to hang open, but it stayed closed at the neck and it looked silly.
I also tried the oxford capris - they were ok but didn't blow me away. There was a really cute linen print miniskirt. It was kind of a melon colored floral. They also had the fine striped cardi in beige, but not in melon.
They did not have the swirl tank which was upsetting because I really wanted to try it on.

Sale section was ok- several Michelle cardis, ruffle trenches, tons of Saturday pants, a few matchstick jeans in indigo, waterfall ruffle cardis, Fresco shorts, sateen pencil skirts, etc. No extra percent off.

  59. Went to the Syracuse store today. The Jaspe boyfriend sweater is nice and soft and cut on the slim side, so it definitely doesn't have an oversized sweatshirt feel. Cute.

Georgia cardigan - don't waste your time, ladies. Incredibly thin, several pulls on it. I like the color warm shell, but the color was the only thing about the sweater that looked like the catalog image.

Also saw the double-serge cotton bow skirt in bronzed twig. The color is a cute neutral, but not similar to the bronzed ochre from the fall; definitely more brown than green-yellow.

This store definitely has more basics than conversation pieces. Left without purchasing anything.

  65. silver_lining: The Syracuse store is small, and the stuff sells out quickly.

The Jaspe cardigan runs big, I had to size down to a small. The medium fits like a large, except in the bust, but the fabric has a lot of give you are able to size down comfortably.

  67. Check out LLBean!

If you miss JCrew's critter prints, you will love their latest catalogue. They've introduced a new contemporary fit, and their latest patterns are reminiscent of JCrew, Boden and Lilly.

Shop quickly. I tried this morning and some of my top picks are already sold out. But then again, we're already used to that!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Yeah, I thought LLB looked very J.Crew, circa 2005-2006. Cute as a button! Plus, they guarantee all their items. My dad had a 6-year old barn jacket from LLB that started to fall apart this past winter - they sent him a new one.

  69. Has anyone taken a look at the J Crew Collection pieces under features?

On the first page there is a really cute skirt in yellow, shown with the Cashmere Three Quarter cardigan and the Chiffon Trellis Tee.

I called CS and ask them about the skirt, and when it would be available in store or on line. This is what she told me after some research.

The skirt was not J Crew's, it is a personal item of the models!

I find that to be a bit strange, any thoughts?

  71. Regarding Jayne Dress: I would call back first thing this morning as the two Jayne dresses I saw were NOT together and one was not even in the sale area but in another random area where a customer put it down. First thing in the am, the store is all neatly organized again. Of course, maybe if she finds it, Nora would call you! Please report if online matches the sale price as I have had my eye on it too in a large size. Then I would just need to get a life where I could wear it!

    ReplyDelete
  72. kittykat-

That can't be true as if you click on further there is a shirt in the exact same print. It is a button down collard shirt worn under the white linen blazer. Maybe the CS doesn't know what she's talking about.

What I think is weird is under the pictures it used to say the flowers were from the Collection store, now it just says that they were used for the shoot and are not for sale.

  74. yes but that is not what happened here. that skirt and another shirt are the same. therefore you can conclude that they will be released sometime this summer

  75. The Jaspe is a sweatshirt. I've seen it described here as a sweater and a cardigan. It's neither. A little confusing.

  76. No visit to J.Crew for me this weekend, but I do plan to go one day next week. I like several of the new arrivals and hope that some of them actually make it to the B&M so I can see them IRL.

    Have a great weekend! :)

  77. JCrewtricks - I had a look through the collection pieces and I see what you mean now. It looks like the Ikat halter dress will be released in June so perhaps the others follow.

  78. Maggie May - thank you so much, that was kind of you. I called them this morning and the SA said that she had two yesterday, but it seems they've sold. *sobs* Ah well, at least I still have something pretty to daydream about when I'm bored. :)

    ReplyDelete
  79. anon 12:03: Thanks for catching that I meant to say sweatshirt. The cardigan that has a similar colour is the spaced dyed cardigan, it is expensive. Anyhow the sweatshirt runs big.

  80. The Crabtree store in Raleighwood (NC) was just sad. The sale section was quite picked over and the new rollout didn't excite me. The styling of the store was so casual and that look can be great if pulled off smartly. Well this was done sloppily. Wonder what is up with that merchandising?

Still on the hunt for something to wear to a wedding to match my bl/wh printed Liza's. Hardly anything dressy anymore in store. Although they had 1 piece of the cotton suiting - the superfine cotton pencil suiting skirt that looks quite fab. Pondering it but @ $98 is as much as a wool suiting skirt.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Maggie May:

Nora called me back last night to let me know that online ran out of size 0 also. Hence, she didn't ask if they'd honor the sale price. I hope she's able to help you.

Gaby: Nora told me they still have the size 6 last night. I'm surprised it was already gone.

  82. OT - has anyone tried the high-waisted super 120's pencil skirt item #86013. I am considering it in the tea rose. Does it fit TTS? Is it quite long?

    TIA

    ReplyDelete
  83. are all the colors in the Jayne dress marked down or just the tea rose?

Wondering if stores got in navy?

    ReplyDelete
  84. Re: LLBean critter stuff: they have blue and white anchors and green and pink crabs on shorts, skirts, and a handbag/tote (I think).

That's it for the embroidered items, but they have a lot of other blue/white nautical inspired items, and lots in a cute pink/green preppy crab print. I love the cardigan, but it is totally sold out.

If you don't have a catalogue, try to search by "crab" or "navy lattice" or "anchors". Also see if they have a section for new contemporary fit.

Check out the patterned fabric ballet shoes. I wish my feet weren't so wide -- I love the colors and patterns.

  85. Gaby: I called Corte Madera store and spoke to Jessica (she's the only Jessica there), and she found the tea rose Jayne dress in size 0 for me. I asked her if she has any other, and the told me she has a size 6, therefore, I asked her to put it on hold for you under GABY. Call her today! Here's the store info:

    Corte Madera Corte Madera
    1524 Redwood Highway CA 94925
    415 927 2005

Marymoo: the navy is also on sale for $69.99, plus 25% off using the red card.

  86. I can't remember who wanted the twisted crystal necklace, but you might try Charleston (843-534-1640). I'm pretty sure I saw one in the case.

I loved and bought the watercolor skirt. I must have tried on 15 tops looking for the perfect one and settled on the featherweight cotton v-neck cardigan in sweet fuschia with a green tank (can't remember the name of the green). I like it with some of the pastel colors, but they did nothing for me and my pale skin. :) I LOVE the cardigan, too - it reminds me of a summer version of the lea. So many of their cardigans (and tees) are a mile too long on me. I also bought the peach summerweight pants and a boyfriend tee in charcoal. Forgot to pick up a pair of cocktail capris - oh, well. I spent enough as it was. :)

The sale section had the usual suspects - some tees, summerweight pants, chino capris, cabana dress, etc.

    Happy shopping!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Forgot to mention that my ps wanted me to try on the isabel suiting dress. This was perfection - I haven't looked that good in a dress in a long time! Too bad I don't work where that kind of dress is needed. I hope they come out with the dress in a more casual material, and I don't mean the khaki version that's available online. Khaki all over would make me look dead. :)

    ReplyDelete
  88. math teacher... peach summerweight pants?
I'm curious as to what pants are you referring to??
Are they in store only or can you reference the real name or item number?
    Thanks.

  89. There was a stack each of the sink and the white rosette tees at the Ann Arbor store. I'd be happier about it if I hadn't bought t in the natural two weeks ago! I really wanted the pink but I pulled the trigger on the nat. color since that was what was available in my size at the time. Too bad I already wore it!

Not too much else of note in store. Didn't seem to me that there were any more markdowns. There is a cute, bigger tote in white or pink, I think it's called ISLAND online that's marked down to 29.50 that somewhat tempted me. I'll go back one more time before the red card expires, and if the tote is still there I'll probably get one.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Since they brought back the rosette tees, does anyone think there's a chance the sunbleached applique "cherry blossom" tee will become available again? That is the one I really missed getting my paws on.

  91. math_teacher: How does the featherweight cotton v-neck cardigan fit TTS?

    ReplyDelete
  92. I just returned from the store. They had patent leather jeans belts in grey, root (which is lighter than the root belt from the fall) and black for $29.99. I picked up root and grey. They had lots of new releases, I focused mainly on skirts. The linen ombre skirt, the one that is white with the yellow bottom, is really pretty on and fits beautifully. I just can't do linen. By the time I pulled it on, it looked like I slept in it :) I tried on and bought the watercolor skirt. I really like the colors, the print may be a little big for me so I'm thinking about it. I got a cotton crystal button cardi and a jersey v-neck dress for my friend. I ordered the double serge cotton pencil skirt on the red phone in the aqua color.

The sale section had gladiola camis, merinque sleeve blouses, lots of the 3/4 sleeve shirts, a lot of capris in different colors, lots of summer print minis, some strapless cotton dresses.

My SA did a store locator on the white ringspun rosette tee and ordered me one.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Got back from Mall of GA and there is one size 2 Dazzling Dots skirt for anyone who is looking :)

    ReplyDelete
  94. Does anyone happen to have the style number for the White rosette tee? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  95. Sorry - the summerweight pants are the Saturday pants. I was thinking more about the material than the name. And, they're not peach, they're bright coral. I'll be more careful about names next time.

    The cardigan fit TTS. HTH

  96. Thanks math-teacher.

  97. LL Bean- yes! I agree that their recent catalogue was very JC/Boden inspired. There was some adorable stuff. I'm 27 and would have otherwise never even considered LL Bean. I always thought of it as a "camper" brand. But an important note, their clothing section in store (I checked Old Orchard Mall, IL this past Thursday) doesn't hold up to the recent catalogue items. You'll have to shop online or order via phone to get the good stuff. In store, it's still very... campy. They had a few of the bright pieces, but not much at all. I should have kept my expectations low for the clothing in store once I saw all the camping tents they had set up outside the store. :)

  98. Was passing by the outlets today and stopped at JC Outlet just to see what they had. Havent been in a while, and now I know I am not missing anything!

Little to no retail store merch. Just lower quality versions of past-year retail items at truly ridiculous price points, higher than sale prices for the real deal the first time around. Examples:

    Short, cheap Scattered Boule 39.99
    Non-silk Elizabeth-style cami 59.50
    Thin, scratchy Jackies 39.50-59.50

Has anyone had a better Outlet experience lately? I'm trying to figure out the strategy/what has happened. I remember doing much better there in years past.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I bought a pair of flip flops and cafe capris in the outlet a couple of weeks ago - they seem fine and the price was good (with 40% off).

My sister bought a skirt , knit dress, and jacket and they looked good as well and had decent prices (with 40% off).
I wasn't impressed with their tees or sweaters, though. And, I didn't like that their jeans didn't come in lengths. Otherwise, I might have bought a pair of matchstick jeans since they fit a little better (and were TTS). That is one thing, I was a size bigger in the outlet, which meant I was my real size. :)

  100. To jcrewtricks and georgiagirl........
Thanks for pointing out about the shirt and the dress.
I like the print so hopefully they will have the skirt available also.

  101. Visited the Somerset Mall Store today. Sale section is packed with multiples of items. Lots of pants, jeans and shorts (5-inch length, no giraffe print). Any many fabric belts.

Several Gladiola print pencil skirts in size 0 and 4 only for $49.99. (Too bad I am looking for an 8.) Many bronzed twig charmeuse pencil skirts, $59.99 (A2 had the silver color; don't know if they have put their's on sale yet.)

Assorted light colored waterfall cardis, many in light pewter. No Michelle cardigans.

Lots of beach dresses. Two of the slub silk/cotton dresses that were light pewter with the gladiola print detail at the neck $99. One was size 0. Don't recall the other size.

Crewcut section was also well-stocked. My girls scored all sorts of cutie-patootie shirts and dresses. Most sizes were 6-7 or below.

I saw the new floral print pencil skirt. I have to disagree with other who have described this skirt as being over bright. The flowers are a deep pink but the rest of the skirt is very subdued. These also seem to be selling well. The store only have two left on the floor.

I picked up the Delfine Pencil Skirt. I thought it fit a lot like the double-serge pencils from the fall, but I sized up. I thought the stripes were an orange tone but they are actually a pink tone. The fabric weave is very interesting. Its a great skirt IMHO.

Had the tuxedo-front tank in several colors and the print.

  102. What are the current prices of cafe capris and 3/4 sleeve kelly shirts in store?

Last I checked, most cafe capris were 59.50 and some of the prints were 88. The kellys were 58 for solid and 64 for striped.

    Any reductions taken? Thanks!

  103. Went to the bridal trunk show today... quite disappointed. It wasn't a show, more like a bridal gowns preview and sale for people to try on the gowns and buy them. All samples are either size 2 or 8 but you can order the size that you desired. Also, they let you use your 25% red card to buy the gowns or bridesmaid dresses.

For anyone who's looking for the Jayne dress in tea rose, they have two size 0 at the store (Rockefeller Center).

    ReplyDelete
  104. If anyone *by chance* is not going to use your red card anymore I would gladly take it off your hands :) I was not lucky enough to get one in the mail. I know it's a long shot, but I thought I'd try...

  105. Does anyone know if the sketchbook roses skirt runs TTS ?
I am a size 6, but there is a size 4 available on ebay and I really want to buy it in case this skirt runs big

    ReplyDelete
  106. Anon 9:46, I have the sketchbook roses skirt in 2, which is my normal J. Crew skirt size. I don't think I could have done a 0. The waistband is fairly wide. I could have done a 4 and worn it lower on the hips. Hope that helps a bit.

  107. went to the outlets today and it was rather empty even though most of the store was 30-40% off. saw a few lisa and sanur dresses and the rugby taffeta-like skirts are now on clearance. no cute sweaters and jackie's were 25% off.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I'm not sure if anyone will be able to answer this question, but it's worth a shot. I live in PA and recently ordered something online - there's no sales tax on clothing in PA but I was charged tax on my order. I've never been charged tax before....

Has this happened to anyone else recently?

    ReplyDelete
  109. Lauren H - I live in PA as well and have been charged tax on online orders since the beginning of the year. I've inquired about it several times, and was told it's shipping which counts as a taxable service. The tax might also be coming from accessories in your order which are not considered clothing.

The shipping tax is usually under $3...but it's kind of annoying for them to start charging this arbitrary tax all of a sudden...

  110. Has anyone ordered the cashmere featherweight argyle sweater? The one with the strips of cotton lawn running the packet?

The one that I received only has one layer of cotton-lawn on the outer placket and no cotton lawn along the button-side of the packet. Website image shows cotton-lawn on the button placket and two-layers on the outer placket.

Anyone else have this sweater? What is yours like?

I think JC may have changed the design for manufacturing, which is too bad. I like the design as shown on the website better than what I got.

  111. I had an amazing J. Crew day- SoHo location in NYC- 25% off sandals! I bought the Dauphine patent T-strap sandals in black (may go back for neon yellow!) Then I ordered the Marjorie metallic-leather ballet flats from the red phone- they applied my student discount on both and I got free shipping from the red phone. Very successful!

  118. Stopped at the Michigan Ave store in Chicago Fri night.. it was a disaster area. Surprisingly very crowded and so messy. There were piles of clothes in all the dressing rooms and on every table in the store. I've neer seen a b&m look like this.
I was able to grab the last classic leather belt in hot pink. It adds a pop of color to any outfit, great for summer! I also got a ss cashmere crewnecks in amethyst for $78 plus my 15% stud disc.

    ReplyDelete
  119. i like that amethyst color, but am not buying anymore j.crew cashmere because of its craptacular lack of quality. I wish j.crew would devote less time to coming up with 37 different slub cotton tees and more time to stopping their snowball rolling downhill decline in quality.

I'd still love some opinions on the Gallery Hobo - size, metallic vs plain, etc?
