Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to take advantage of what's available in the Spring Sale or to see some new Spring arrivals in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I just went by the store in Tucson. A lot of items had been restocked since I was last there on Monday. The manager told me that most stores restock on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which is good info to know.

Monday I went in to look for a ruffle v-neck tee (not online yet). They had very few out in each color/size. Tonight they had tons.

I did not notice an additional percentage off sale items.

  2. jcrewaholics.com is doing a giveaway. she's also encouraging people to download "gadgets" through her site. i did some research on this and every time you purchase something via jcrew by going thru her site, she makes money. she's so shady, i swear. i feel bad that someone like her has such a bad character. oh, and recently, she's changed her name from ebay id: rapunzel1921 to windowshop*online

    ReplyDelete
  3. also, windowshop*online WEARS her clothing prior to reselling them as nwt, nwot, new new new. so buyer beware. she's a rotten egg!

  8. Who cares if the other site is trying to make money. Why not.

The site is ridiculously ad heavy and slow to load because it has so much junk. Not to mention that it doesn't provide any info or insight unavailable here or on the other great blogs started because of this one.

The site lacks soul. Best of luck to her.

  12. I will returning some spring belts I bought early on, not knowing what I needed. I haven't been to my B&M in weeks- so very excited to see the new merch.

My Factory store had a special event last evening and I picked up some belts for $16. Apparently, there was a coupon available to those on the Factory mailing list? I thought I was on it!

Jeff- lucky you.... A wedding! I don't have any planned for this summer yet. Maybe I'll plan my own... :-)

TGIF Everyone. Whew! What a week.

  14. Thanks to everyone for the deals already mentioned - now I have some idea about what to look for when I do returns/exchanges from the DC JCA outing tomorrow. will report back if there's anything fabulous at Montgomery Mall

  15. Hi Deni,

yes, I bought the orange pavillion shift last week for $39.99, will post pictures later today. I love it but it needs some fixes.

I saw a new tee VERY pretty yesterday at the Madison Collection store. It's a soft cotton tee with a cascading ruffle-flower around the neck (same cotton). They had it in lavander and aqua, I'm going tomorrow to check if they have it in other colors because they told me that they were just unpacking them.
BTW, the store was PACKED, probably as a result of Michelle Obama wearing the JCrew outfit during the G-20.

  17. Thank you, Soon to Be PhD....what store location are you talking about?? Looking for the Coralie pumps and would love to get them for 69.99 to 99.99.

Also, went shopping at the Destin JCrew yesterday and found the Frenchie Slicker is only on sale in the light khaki color. If you need that color, it is on sale for $99.99

  18. Anon thanks for the heads up on the ebayer/blog owner that wears stuff and says its new. I was checking out some items from her recently. I am glad I did not bid. As for her making money on her site that is not a bad thing in my opinion.

  26. I went to my Florida J.Crew store last night and I have to admit I was not impressed by their new arrivals (which is odd because I usually coo over their things)...but nothing really tickled my fancy at the store. Plus, their sale section was rather small :( I am hoping their next roll out of new arrivals is more to my liking (and perhaps comes in petites!)

  27. Hello everyone! I am going to try and stop by the Georgetown (DC) store tonight in search of a couple of meringue sleeve tops with my 25% off card. :)

A question for all you JCAs with a boucle astrid (i.e., the floppy flower jacket)-- has anyone attempted to remove the pockets? I pretty much despise them and am thinking about taking them off. I don't think it will be noticeable b/c of the nubby texture of the boucle, but perhaps another JCA out there knows for sure-- or has a more expert opinion than mine? TIA! :)

Went to Columbus Circle last night. Pretty good deals (everyone else has covered the items and prices in this post that were noteworthy). I overheard a couple of SAs speculating on whether they were going to start 20% off sale merch today. Anyone been to a store today to see if it's true?

  30. Thanks for the heads up too about jcrewaholics. I think she would compromise her first born to make a buck on jcrew clothing. I don't care that she's making money off her site, but to resell something as nwot, come on! We already know she wore it out to dinner!!

  50. I went to the Pleasanton, CA store this week, and they had tons of sale stuff, the pique ruffle scoop neck dress in pink, and navy for $19.99, but, even the S looked way huge, so, I passed. They had lots of the twisted cotton trench $99, the tan frenchie trench on sale, lots of belts. I didn't get anything. I don't understand NWOT, bec. if it were 'new', why are tags gone? I'm always suspicious of that.

  52. Monica,

I was just at the jcrew outlet in hershey on tuesday. i was pretty disappointed -- especially since I had the coupon for the factory store and I was ready to buy. They had a lot of cotton sweaters, but they just didn't seem like the same quality that you can get in the catalog or b&m. Plus, the fit was different -- the vnecks were longer and just not cut the same, and the cardigans were smaller. They had a decent selection of graphic tees which resembled last summer's collection (pink flamingo, banana, etc.) but were not identical. Hopefully they'll get some more stuff in before this weekend. Enjoy the hershey spa-- LOVE that place!

  54. Just returned from the J.Crew 45th/Madison store in NYC with reviews:

Dressy jersey ruffle dress - I had been eyeing this for a while on the website, so I was extremely pleased to find it on sale in my size in the parsley color after it had sold out online. I would be curious to see this dress on someone else because I did not feel it was flattering on me. It was really low cut so I'd have to to wear a tank underneath, and with the flowy shape and ruffles I would've liked it more form-fitting on top. That said, I loved the jersey fabric and found it extremely comfortable, and I loved the way it was paired with a belt on the mannequin.

Cotton-cashmere bouquet cardigan - Very cute. Found it ran a little big but I did not try on a smaller size to compare. I will probably be kicking myself tomorrow for not buying this with my red card - it would've been around $37! (I may be back...)

Stretch chino Frankie short - These were adorable and ran true to J.Crew sizing. I'm waiting for sale since I can't wear them in NYC for a few more months anyway.

Crocodile cocktail cardigan - Really soft, lightweight and pretty. Loved the colors and the print. Waiting for sale.

Skinny patent-leather double-wrap belt - The belts were coiled up in a bin on the display table, and as I was taking them out, I could already see ripples in the patent leather from having been wrapped. They were extremely lightweight and felt like they were made of foam. Disappointing.

And now for the 2 dresses I bought, neither of which have hit the website yet (some names and colors have been improvised):

Strapless cotton voile eyelet dress - OMG this is soooo nice. It was shown in 3 colors, slate with white contrast stitching, white with almond stitching, and navy. I originally wanted the slate but when it was sold out in my size I decided to try on the white just for fun and fell in love. It is form fitting on top with side pockets and a slightly a-line skirt, and it was extremely slimming and flattering. Even at $128, I had my red card and my size in my hand and could not rationalize putting it down.

The Sanur dress - 3 ways to wear it: (1) as a midlength strapless dress, (2) as a short strapless dress or swing top, as (3) a skirt. Ok, I soooo did not know that until I just looked at the tag. I tried it on as a short strapless dress with the top folded over as shown on the mannequin and it was stunning. Shown in (similar color names) guava, bright peacock, dark fog and black. Very reasonably priced at $68, and fits TTS. Form fitting on top with a loose, flowing skirt that hits at the knee.

Hope this helps my fellow JCAs!

  56. Has anyone seen the seersucker suit (women's) in stores? The seersucker pants from last year or the year before were so W-I-D-E at the bottom, so I was hoping to try this year's. I know it's early but still, I know summer will come at some point!

  57. Good to know about the JCrewaholics site. I recently signed up for a free retail cash back program with BofA: If I use my BofA rewards credit card I get 4% cash back on all J Crew online purchases! I just go thru their site to access the J Crew site. It helps to offset the exorbitant shipping charges!! 4% is only one percent different than J Crew's credit card.

Also- Got my red card today! Yay! Hit my B&M in Scottsdale and picked up the slub cotton cottage dress in Garden Green. It is super cute and very comfortable! I love the green. I did not like the gray - its just too much gray for one dress.

  65. I cried yesterday! I went to Baltimore J Crew Harbor Store ( which I frequent since I work Downtown, but incidentally, b/c of my shopping ban, I haven't been to in a while). Guess what? It's CLOSED!!!So do other stores in the mall. The reality of hardship times is creeping on me. We do live in a semi-protected bubble here at DC Metropolitan area, but I can {finally} see how it's affecting the country. Soo sad!It was sucn a neat small store.Ahhhh!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Slastena-

That news is depressing! I can't believe the Harbor store is closed... now, I really have no reason to venture downtown! On the news the other night, they were talking about the owners of local malls- GGP, and how they were considering bankruptcy. Guess the tenants are getting scared off... it's sad.

  67. Hi, Jacquelyn, I'm in Tucson as well! I was there on Wednesday, agree that there are a lot more items now. I placed an order with the red phone using my 25% off card since the things I wanted were not in stock in the store.

I'm looking for the ringspun cotton rosette tee, item 13126, the one that came in shell and natural (not the famous rose tee!). If anyone sees that in the sale section of their B&M in XS or S, please let me know!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Dara, I tried on the ruffle jersey dress you mentioned whenI was in the store on Wednesday. I also found it to be far to low cut, and the way the V was spread out, it wasn't even possible for me to pin it up higher. It's an adorable dress on the hanger, plus it was on sale and I had my 25% off card. I really wished it would work on me!

  69. heading to union square store tomorrow for the 25% off in store offer! looking for a few tees and maybe the white eyelet mini, and of course to browse the sale section. rockefeller store did not have that much on sale when i went on wednesday afternoon - also the staff there was very rude! it was the first time i ever went into a jcrew and didn't have people offering to help me find sizes, colors, or to put together an outfit. although one sales girl did tell me how bad a top looked on me, lol!

    ReplyDelete

  71. There is 1 sequin zebra tee (grey) in Emeryville as of yesterday afternoon, size XL

    ReplyDelete
  72. Dara and Desert Flower--
I also tried on the dressy jersey dress in Parsley. It's a no go. Loved the color, and did one of those things where you just stand in the dressing room staring at yourself in the mirror, willing the dress to look better than it actually does:)
It was way low cut, but the bigger problem was how wide the V was. Even with a cami on underneath it just looked awkward. The fabric was nice, but a little clingy in the rear on me. I wasn't a fan of having to think about what undies to put on for a dress that only half fit anyway. Big sigh though - the idea of the dress is so great!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Someone asked why something would be NWOT -- new with out tags. I'm not a seller, but a least twice in the last year, I've removed tags from something, but once I've had it on I've realized that it just didn't really fit or flatter me.

One was a final sale shirt. The other was a pair of jeans that looked and felt great until I tried to sit down in them!

I've thought about trying to return, but both items were relatively inexpensive. If I tried to sell these things, they would definitely NWOT. I think it is OK is you've had the item on for less than 15 minutes, but I imagine some people may abuse the term NWOT.

    ReplyDelete
  74. ^ totally agree. There is a big difference btwn taking tags off & then promptly realizing something doesn't fit vs. having worn the item. I don't know how somebody knows that a particular seller actually has worn the items she is trying to sell, but under any circumstance, heck, it's even possible to buy something in a store without a tag on it, as it may have fallen off. Usually sa's just use the style number for reference when ringing up the item.

I am a creature of habit! I like to live in one place long enough, I love to have realtionships with people working in a small grocery shops and markets I frequent. I like going to the same doctors, who knows my entire family. The store at Harbor was very nice. Martese, Patricia, Kelly were super sweet and helpful adn I enjoyed going there very much. Yes, I am VERY sad: to see them lose their jobs(granted younger ppl will find a substitute faster, but what about older employees who have been with company for awhile?), to see empty windows with a sticky tape across stating space available. Hope you can understand!

  78. Anon @ 11:48 a.m.--that the blogger Jcrewaholics sells used clothing as NWOT tags was well documented a couple of months ago on this blog. I would cry too if my local store closed. Like Slastena I am a creature of habit who likes to get to know a place. I am a regular in my JCrew. They know me and my children by name. They seem to sell out of everything so quickly. It's scary to hear of other store's at the Galleria being closed too.

I would cry if Towson closed too! I don't want to run to Columbia when Towson is so much more convenient. I used to go out of state as it is for JC.

  88. went to the store here and tried to return and re-buy a cardigan that's now on sale plus use my 25% off card, was told i couldn't, and that it was against company policy to do so. i just returned it. i don't want a sweater at full price when i know it was $30 less plus 30% off online. @@ so i went across the street and used the money at anthropologie instead. :)

i did exchange a pair of socks i bought as a "ride along" for free shipping that i didn't have anything that matched for two other pairs on sale.

  89. Lynzeeroo- thanks for the tip! I hate driving to LA though, but the card is burning a hole in my wallet, lol.
Slas- I'm with you! I only have one JC store here in SD, I hope it remains here!

  90. Lynzeeroo: You are overreacting, chill a little bit. There was no harm intended with that comment you just took it that way.

  91. Lynzeeroo-we only have one J Crew in Tampa at the International Plaza near the airport. The SAs are all helpful. Thank goodness for the I mall.

  92. 1madscientist: re rude staff at Rock center store

I agree. They used to be better but I've noticed service deteriorated recently. They give you a hard time even for exchanges, sometimes not even wrap up with tissue paper unless asked.

Columbus Circle is a hit or miss - some SAs don't even acknowledge you when you walk straight towards them, let alone helping with finding sizes.

  93. For the NY'ers out there: I've found the SA's at the 5th ave/17st store to be the friendliest and most helpful...at least upstairs in the men's dept.

The Short Hills, NJ also has some great people working there, though I have come across 1 or 2 SAs with a bit of a tude. Robert, in men's, always comes over to shake my hand and chat for a few mins.

I agree...Jcrewaholics.com is a dirty little site. The owner of that blog has some serious ethical/mental issues. Someone with a keen eye caught her taking pictures of an item and then posting the same picture with a watermark "rapunzel1921". I see she changed her ebay id to a different one, is this another way to dupe her readers?

I also remember her asking her loyal readers to "find and locate" certain jewelry pieces. Once she found them, she thanked them and then ebayed them for something outrageous. I don't know how she sleeps at night, perhaps on 1000 sheets that she'll probably sell next week, NWOT.

  96. FYI:
Petites, if you see some pants in your retail store that are on sale and you want them you can order them on the red phone and get the SAME price.

I bought the cropped chinos online during the promo and just saw that in store that they are only $19.99 now! But since I was a petite the store rep wouldn't let me get a price adjustment. I called the store back once I got home and spoke with the manager and she let me know that I SHOULD HAVE gotten the adjustment and YOU CAN get the sale price for petite pants. So now I just need to go back into the store and say ___ the manager said to let me have the adjustment!

It's only $7 back in my pocket but $7 is a lot!

I asked Slastena a question. She answered it. I am glad she elborated and now I understand why she was so emotional.

It seems a few of you have issues. Don't reflect your nasty attitude and hostility onto others.

  104. When people start complaining and getting nasty about typos and grammar they really do not have much of a life.

Has anyone considered the Anons have a valid point? The way some of the regular posters respond to the posts is just as mean spirited, talk about being two faced.

  105. robert at the short hills store is great! i usually go to that store, and find that they have a lot of selection - sometimes stuff that is catalogue only, sometimes stuff i dont even see on the website. but i thought i'd give the nyc stores a shot, just for a change of pace :) plus its so much more fun to shop in new york

  106. Visited the New Canaan, CT store this weekend and they have 4 gold Thompson metallic totes (the short one, not the long one) for $89.99. No additional store discounts, but you can use your red card. I remember some posters looking for metallic totes, so I hope this helps. Their number is 203 966 5127.

  107. It is really silly to engage in snarky behavior on a public blog. I guess some of us do not have real lives to enrich on a more personal basis. Keep the nasty attitudes and English instructions to yourselves. This is not a ESL class. It is a blog not real life nor a exclusive country club!

    ReplyDelete
  108. Bad grammar isn't a typo - it's sad when people don't know the difference between "your" and "you're." There's nothing wrong with pointing it out - it doesn't speak to anything other than a good education. Proper grammar is always in good style - and isn't this a blog about style?

  117. I got the Gondry in cream last week when I did the personal shopper, and I love it, too! She told me it was inspired be the impressionist painters. Also, the PS experience was cool, and I got a handwritten note from her later this week thanking me for coming in and saying she'd keep an eye on a certain item for me. Quite a snazzy touch!

  120. I just got back from the factory stores in Westbrook and Clinton, CT. They had the Trastavere print shorts in both the "retail" version and the "factory" version. I compared them side-by-side and there were alot of differences. I ended up getting the retail version. They were both $29.99 (I think). Just thought I'd share that!
Anyway, they had alot of nice shorts, and alot of yucky stuff. But it was worth the trip, although it was pretty crowded.

  126. Hi all - I somewhat agree about Rock Center store. I have never had great service there. However, I blame the traffic as much as anything else. The store is always so crazy that it would seem like an enormously dificult place to work. Not an excuse. Just something I have realized when shopping at all the NY stores.
J Crew changed their policy regarding wrapping items in tissue before Christmas. They are now supposed to ask customers before doing so. My SA told me, as I am a longtime abstainer from wrapping things in tissue. Unless an item is delicate, it is so unncessary and wasteful. Sure, it is a money saving tactic, but it makes me happy nonetheless

    ReplyDelete
  127. I visited and bought several items with my 25% off card! :) I went to the St Paul, MN store. I was surprised by how few shoppers were in the store! I like it less crowded but still I want the store to do well so it stays open.

  129. Can I vent about the library shawl cardigan and the French Terry cardigan?

They look fine on those ultra tall models but the proportions just don't work on more ordinary women.

I've seen lots of IRL pix and haven't seen a one that looks good. They are all tooooooo long. The Portlands and Michelles, on the other hand, are long, but good loooking.

I sure wish J. Crew would have a secret bunch of IRL models to test the designs on a few larger-breasted women and short people!!!

  136. Happy: I read the info about JCrew on that website. There didn't seem to be anything shocking or any worse than any other large retailer has done or been accused of. I think that any reader of this blog who thinks that JCrew's clothes are made in anything other than sweatshops or near-sweatshop conditions are very naive. That's called capitalism and it's how the world works, unfortunately. Having said all of that, I still love and wear JCrew!
There's my "soapbox" moment of the day! And I haven't even had my coffee yet...

  137. Anon 8:02pm

I do recall occasionally being asked whether to wrap up but in the case of rainy weather, the cashier just throwing a linen jacket in the bag without wrapping it is not the customer service one would expect at a JC store.

If it's H&M where you pay a fraction of the cost, it's a different story altogether.

Besides, I for one don't see tissue-paper wrapping as a waste. It's rather dreadful, is it not, when we all have to come with WF style recycle bags to shop?

    ReplyDelete
  138. This is a long shot, but... if anybody sees a snow leopard cardigan (not the tartine one) in their local stores in a Small, please let me know @ mjr001@gmail.com. Thanks.

  139. I also read the same details about J.Crew and the sweatshop/pollution. In fact, I believe someone posted the article link here some time ago. Fact is, no matter how hard you may try to be ethical, and I don't know if they bend over backwards or what, when you are sourcing goods from half a world away you can't always control how things get done. We've all heard about melamine in pet food and then baby formula. Those corporations sourcing the product in the U.S. are not likely in on the fraud, they are victims of it too as it affects their bottom line losing consumer confidence and they could also face legal liability.

It's true that other retailers have suffered the same deception and I believe most American retailers would try to get the lowest-priced, quality items possible. It's a competitive world we live in and PR is so important too as new travels fast and ultimately lasts.
