  2. I got the silk roll neck deco dress from a long while back for $59.99. Not bad considering it was $350to begin with...and I need to now get my educator's discount too.

  4. Nope! Everything I clicked on, I got "the bomb" message - "We're sorry. This item has been so popular, it has sold out."

I see the Featherweight cashmere argyle cardigan is still on the sale site and I wanted to mention that I bought this the other day and it is not exactly as pictured. I looks like it has a double ruffle down the front and it's actually just one ruffle. It's still cute but I was disappointed that it wasn't as pictured.

  5. Has anyone been to their B&M today? Someone mentioned additional markdowns happened in store yesterday. Just wondering what the new reductions are and if it is worth going to the mall! TIA

Thank you so much for the info. on the sweater. It is still too pricey online for me so waiting for it to go down in price. However, now that I know it doesn't look as pictured (AGAIN another JCrew goof) I may take it off my list.

$100 is a lot for a very thin, sheer sweater that is not as pictured.

  9. Anyone have the Taffeta A-Line Skirt in Warm Champagne, and like it (dislike it)? I've only seen the bight aquamarine and flamingo colors in stores.

    ReplyDelete
  10. There are 4 Silk fresco gala clutch available, $79.99, for those that were looking for it!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Anon at 12:57: I own the tafetta a-line skirt in that warm champagne color. I love the color because it is so warm and a great neutral for my hot pink, aquamarine, light orange, and medium green tops.

Note about sizing, because of the split pleat in the front (I assume the one you are talking about has this), it is important that if you have larger hips or thighs to your waist-size that you size up. I wear a 10 in J. Crew skirts and only recently has the 12 I bought started to look good on me. If you buy the wrong size (too small), the split pleat will flap open, which imo, looks terrible.

  12. Ugh. I was sooo close to buying lots of stuff, but I just can't do it. I know I can return it if it doesn't fit (yay!) but still seems like sooo much money!!

I might head to the B&M in a bit and see if there are new markdowns there, and try on the Maisey jacket. Maybe they'll let me order the one I want from the red phone using my 25% if it's not in stock. I hope there is an additional percent off final sale soon!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Dina- Thanks! :)

  14. I agree that sizing up is necessary if you are hippy in regards to the taffeta A-line skirt. I have the champagne, flamingo and dark pewter/brownish color in a 10. I wear 6-8 in JCrew bottoms.

  17. I scored a pair of cafe capris in warm blush, a grey and white striped polo for hubby, a cloudy grey beaded bracelet to go with my croc cocktail jacket, and a french terry cardigan in grey for a grand total of $68.14 and my B&M!! Cant' beat it!!
Tried on the Frenchie Slicker...BLAH. nothing to write home about. the ruffle collar is cute, but the rest of it is boring. It made me look square!
    Happy Shopping!!

  19. where did the braided thong sandals go??? i saw them in their catalog but can't find them on the website anymore...

    ReplyDelete
  20. Anon @12:42 - I agree that the Featherweight cashmere argyle cardigan @ $100 is still too much to pay. Luckily, I found it at a store (Garden State Plaza, NJ) and got a red discount card in the mail so I paid around $75. Otherwise, I probably would not have picked it up.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Anyone tried the Rivulet Caridgan?

The featherweight cashmere short-sleeve cardigan is wonderful BUT the price went back up to $148 (it was $99 with the 30% off sweaters last week). I bought the spicy olive color and the color is definitely green-ish, not yellow-ish. I ended up returning it because the color is not good with my skin tone but I will be getting it in the slate, black and light stone when they go back on sale. It is so precious and light for the spring/summer. The ruffles on the sleeves, neck and placket are just too cute.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Sharon - braided thong sandals? Do you mean the Paige Metallic Braided Thong Sandals? They're in the sale section - $69.99.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Does anyone have the cashmere peplum jacket? I found one for $69.99 in bright blue online and bought it. Is it worth the price? What about sizing? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Congrats for all who were able to score today! I checked the sale again after 10, and more things were available, but sadly nothing I had to have. (So I ended up ordering a couple sale tops from Anthro since I really do need a couple new and cute summery things!) I will do in to the local JC tomorrow to return a top, and do a sad last search for the sunbleached tee. Nice to know they are doing further reductions on out of stock items! A few days ago, out of stock, it showed as 29.99. I did an item number search for it today, and it showed up as 19.99... out of stock. I wonder why they bother doing that type of update instead of, say, getting up to date inventories? Oh, JC, you are an odd beast sometimes.

  25. J Crew Lover,

How much were the cafe capris in store?

    Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  26. anon at 3:24: the cafe capris in warm blush were marked down to 19.99-pretty sure that was the only color marked down that low. I got them with another 25% off with the red card. They had a few other sizes as well: Pretty sure there was a 6, 12, maybe an 8? The # of the store is 610-358-2001.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The cashmere peplum jacket is essentially just a sweater, not thicker, which is what "jacket" connotes to me. I mean, it was not worth the original price I don't think. For $80, totally worth it! It fits TTS.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thanks for the info J. Crew Lover. Wow, 19.99 for cafe capris is great. I love cafe capris. I actually have warm blush on hold and I am picking them up in a few days. I hope that is the price in the store I am going to!

I know stores will usually price match the internet, but has anyone ever had luck asking a store to price match another store?

  30. OT...
Just purchased something from Ebay and a listed as New with tags item came without a tag. Seller claims that on online orders, sometimes items don't have tags. I've purchased online so many times, and no items has never come without a tag.
Before I tell that to the seller, I thought I would see what JCAs' experiences has been.

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  31. A long time ago around 2002 or so items did not have tags on them at all when you ordered online. Then around 2004-5 is when I noticed tags on my online purchases. Since that time I have received one or two items without tags. It is rare but possible.

Not right now I am not but try again in a few minutes. The same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. One minute I couldn't get on and I tried 3 times then all of a sudden I could. Just a few minutes ago I was surfing along JCrew's site and then all the pictures disappeared. I closed out the page and tried the site anew and fine now.

  35. ny0311:

I have had several items come without tags from the website (including two tartine sweaters). Half have been in pristine condition, the other half, not so much. I think these are usually returns, or inventory from past seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  36. ny0311

I have a box from 2007 and a pair of hipslung jeans in there (online order that came with no tags it did still come in the plastic bag though with the barcode on it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. A lot of items I received from online do not have a tag on. I guess some of those were items shipped back from stores. Some were returned items. Jcrew forgot to put tags back on. Most of those I received without tags were just fine. Less than 1/3 of them, I think, were not new or defective.

I think the seller should have listed the item you received as new without tags.

    ReplyDelete
  38. TAGS do not mean anything. Ordering online, I received items with tags were worn and defective, items without tags were brand new.

  40. I've had plenty of online items come without tags and I'm one of the fortunate who has had everything come in pristine condition, nothing worn or damaged, even FS.

The other day, I was in a morning rush and wore my travel trench to work and forgot to remove the tag first! Took it off in my office and saw the tag, had a little giggle. Not New, but worn With Tags. :P

    ReplyDelete
  41. i received my argyle sweater without tags when it was FS. Must have been a return but the sweater was in brand new condition. if the safety tag sewn inside is cut off, then that is sketchy.

Anon 3:16, what size sun bleached tee are you looking for? the brownish one right? i have an xs that i haven't worn yet that i could part with if that's your size. i just bought a couple new shirts so i could give up ones i haven't worn. hth!

  43. I'm so frustrated. During 30 % off sale, I got Merino -pinwheel cargigan (11445) for $59.99 and it stated on the receipt that it's final sale (no return or exchange). Then, today, the price down to $39.99 and it's not even the final sale...

Ps. J, I have this one, what I can say is the putty is really cute & you will not disappoint!

  47. Those retro rompers for adult women are all the rage in the UK. Maxi dress revival came here first as well a couple of summers ago. Things take longer to get to the US.

    ReplyDelete
  48. My advice is stay away from the pinwheel cardigans. Lots of reports on this blog of fraying, fraying, fraying. I have seen many a sad pile in stores with bits everywhere.

    ReplyDelete
  49. MeeJu,

Exactly why I don't buy items from the final sale! I either buy full price when I can or wait for it to be over. It is just clothes after all...

    ReplyDelete
  50. There is a reason why the pinwheel cardigan is available in all sizes and all 3 colors still in fairly large quantities...(except X-Large)...and why it keeps getting marked down. Quality issues.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Check out the March 13 or approx. that date on the Delightful Obessions blog. she states that every color in every size of

the Pinwheel cardigans at the store at tons of fraying bits. She could not find one that looked nice! Enough said:)

Happy Shopping ladies, There are some good deals to be had but be wary of too good of deals:) He he.

  53. I went to my local B&M today and there didn't appear to be any new markdowns. There was a random pair of Ingrid flats in the cow print in size 7.5 for $69.99...the same exact pair I just bought off of ebay for more!!! Argh!!

BUT there was a bunch of new jewelry in stock. Mostly in golds and black, but they had a couple of really pretty chain necklaces in a rose colored gold. I hope this means new clothes are soon to follow!

    ReplyDelete
  54. nonononono, no rompers on adults. No rompers, no jumpsuits, no formal shorts. No atomic necklace. No to all forms of fug. I think it's one thing to buy accessories like umbrellas (cough, cough) because it's JC, but to plunge into toddler territory? No, no thanks to rhe romper.

  57. Question about the 'Saturday Pants' :

    1. Do they bag/stretch out by the end of the day

    2. Do they shrink in the dryer?

I am between 2 sizes- one is a bit too big, but comfy, and the other is a bit snugger than Id like --Im afraid the smaller ones will shrink in the dryer- If i can shrink up the bigger ones I might just get those.

    Thanks!

  58. For any of you interested in the "dressy jersey twist-strap dress" (item 14994) i just did a not-so-thrilled review of it on my blog...

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hey Ladies! Does anyone own the Frenchie Slicker?? I sooo want it in poppy but it's not on sale! I scored a bunch over the weekend at BM and outlet - the pique ruffle dress, the gateau skirt, slub square neck and ruffle neck shirts, victoria cami (cotton, grey polka dot), and some jewelry! I have been buying more because of the coveted "orange 25% off card" they sent for this month. That card rocks!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Thank you all for giving input regarding online items with vs. without tags! I had never received any item without a tag, but I guess it CAN happen!

    Thanks again!

  61. Kendra-

I usually wear a 6 in pants at J.Crew, so I automatically bought my Saturdays in a six as well. They weren't snug to begin with, and definitely loosened up with wear. I just washed mine, and while I haven't tried them on yet, it doesn't appear they have shrunken. I tried on a four yesterday, and it fit just a tad snug- I could tell it would loosen up. Aside from the waist issues, the biggest difference I could see between sizes was that my 6's hang loose and a tad baggy, but still structured. The 4's looked on me like they do on the model online- a more tailored fit. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Thanks so much Appgal! I hvae been waiting with somewhat bated breath for it to come into my local JC, but I can now exhale. No way to wear a bra?! No way will I buy!! (I don't think they make nubras in 38D)

That aqua does look nice on you though, and I think the yellow dress looked lovely and feminine on, and looks nice with the cap sleeves! Thanks again for reviewing the twist strap.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Appgal- thanks for the review!
I received the Dressy Grecian V neck long dress today and I love it. I think its made of the same material- heavy jersey, but I loved the snug but comfortable fit of the bodess and the twisted straps didn't bother me. It's a little bit long, but this will be an easy fix with the raw edge hem.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Crewbie - bodess? really?

    ReplyDelete
  66. To the JCA spelling police: 'boddice'
so sorry to have upset you!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Crewbie- maybe I should try the Grecian dress. It was the lack of snugness that really did it in for the dress I reviewed. I don't mind the twist-straps either, but I need some support up top! :)

    ReplyDelete
  68. anon @ 8:07: thanks! yeah I was so excited about this dress too and couldn't wait to get it. I really wish it had worked because the color is gorgeous!!! I'm hoping they'll put out some more knit dresses (in this color too!) for the next roll-out.

  71. Kendra - I'm between two sizes in the Saturday pant too. The smaller size is too tight in the thighs and the larger one is loose around the waist. I went with the larger size though because the pants themselves didn't look baggy, still fit around my butt (didn't want it droopy there!), and I could just wear a belt, as opposed to being stuck with pants that I couldn't wear at all if I gained an ounce of weight on my thighs!! They've held up after washing, but I haven't noticed them either shrinking or loosening up. They're super comfortable though and I highly recommend them (i have several colors)!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Appgal, have you tried the ruffle top dress? It isn't supportive by itself, but you can wear whatever you need to underneath, and from the empire waist down it looks to be very similar to the twist top. The bottom hem is finished, but the ruffles aren't, and it has a high back.

I got the aqua in the Fontana dress and it looks so fresh and bright without being in your face! Not that I don't love a good bright orange or azalea pink, but it is nice to see variety in the brighter tones that hasn't been done to death.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Crewbie, it's B-O-D-I-C-E.

  74. I just recieved the Silk-linen retro V-neck cardigan in sweet cantelope in the mail yesterday and was very dissapointed that it was not as pictured. In the picture it looks like the color is a peachy-orange with a pink stripe but in reality it is a bright orange with the same color of stripe. The cardigan is also very thin and $60 was too much to spend on a see-through cardigan so I sent it back today. But otherwise the spring sale is wonderful!

    ReplyDelete
  75. My B&M said they would have a new shipment on the 20th, too. They also wrote my name on my red card after checking out my driver's license (boo). I'm not getting anything else for awhile. There's nothing that I really need or want.
    Goodnight, ladies!

I have the Dobby-striped Saturday pants and I LOVE them. I bought them in a 0 and I think they fit tts. I haven't washed them yet, so I don't know how they'll hold up. I think they're just as flattering as the solid colored pants and very spring-y now that its after Easter and seersucker type prints are ok :)

  80. I am so glad someone posted about online items without a tag. I picked up an order from JCrew this afternoon. The cardigan in this order had no tag in top area. There was a tiny stripe of the side tag left from someone cutting it out, it had a small hole in the seam in that area and it must have been a worn return from a smoker.

I just got off the phone with CS.
They are issuing me a $25 gift certificate and said if I get it repaired they will pay up to $50 with a receipt. The sweater is going to be a freebie after dry cleaning and the small repair.

I have only had one order that was not in order prior to this incident. I cannot complain about their customer service but people really should stop with the returns after wearing and puffing sheesh.

    ReplyDelete
  81. A little OT, but could people comment on the fit of the cords? I just received an order of the favorite-fit vintage stretch bootcut cords and city-fit luxe cords — which all, by the way, feel snugger than the bootcut jeans or the high-heel flares — and I'm trying to figure out if they're likely to shrink or stretch. Old comments on this blog mostly suggest that they shrink in length in the wash, which I'm guessing means the circumference as well, but there are also comments about the cords stretching out with wear. Any advice would be much appreciated!

(And I just ordered a bunch more cords in slightly different sizes to compare — the very nice CS person waived the shipping for the exchange and let me get a few things on top of that. So in a week or so, expect to see a variety of $19.99 cords returned to a B&M in the Boston area. Boy will the SA who rings up all my returns love me!)

  82. Has anyone tried the Silk Treasure Tunic?

  83. I have two pair of the city fit lux cords. They do stretch out a bit throughout the day. I did see a small amount of shrinkage lengthwise but I am still able to wear them with my heels. I really love my JC vintage matchsticks and the lux cords.
I am sure you will love them also once you find the size that works for you.

Returns are always a hassle on ebay. But if you are sending the item back, make sure you have a tracking number . I've had experiences where sellers said that they never received the package and tried to scam the refund.

  89. I just placed an order yesterday, not getting to include a dress I wanted due to no availability in my size/color. I looked online today and there it was, so I called and asked if I could change my order. The CSR, Austin, was SUPER NICE AND HELPFUL. He was polite in telling me no changes could be made, and when I explained I had wanted to take advantage of the free shipping and add it to the order, he hooked me up with free shipping for just one dress I added! Usually my JC SA and CSR experiences are not that great (both in b&m and on phone), so I wanted to share a positive experience. Also, I went to the b&m after ordering online and used my red card- I got a ton of stuff for total of 300$, and the SAs were actually polite and helpful!!!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Anon @ 12:09 am, thanks for sharing your experience with the cords! Yeah, for my body shape ("thunder thighs" but small waist), these cords are all over the place in terms of sizing. The city-fit luxe cords feel bigger than a pair one size larger in the bootcuts -- go figure. But I really do like them -- they'er so comfy and soft!

  91. Miss Penny Z: I love, love, love, my silk Treasure Tunics. So much that I ordered an "extra" of each, in case the dry cleaner ruins them (as they did my Francie skirt - grr!) They are SO very cute under the Heirloom Henley and look great tucked into pants and skirts as well. They're my favorite tops of the season. Love the unusual collar - I have a long skinny neck and the stand up collar makes me look less like Big Bird.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I just wanted to share a great J. Crew experience I just had. Last night I emailed CS to get a price adjustment on a grasshopper necklace I purchased a few days ago. I got a prompt response saying that they would gladly give me a price adjustment and to email them if I needed anything else. I've had a red card burning a hole in my pocket for the past couple weeks, and with the nearest store an hour away, it seemed like a slim chance I'd be able to use it. So I figured I might as well ask if they ever made exceptions and let people use them online. Couldn't hurt, right?

So this afternoon I received a call from a wonderful CS rep named Jessica who informed me that they'd make a one time exception and let me use the red card on my online order. All I had to do was email her my order confirmation number and she'd take the 25% off!

I saved about $150 and ended up getting just about everything I wanted (minus the palm leaf necklace which sold out and the art deco cardi which was available in my size this morning, but I guess someone scooped it up). I know some people have consistently had bad experiences with CS, but mine have always been great, and this was no exception. :)

  94. Hello, I was hoping that someone might have some advice for me. I am a college student and looking to buy my first real nice suit. I love Jcrew's quality and they have tall sizes which I need also. The suit jacket and pants that I want finally went on sale yesterday but I'm hestant to buy it because I know Jcrew often has promotions for 20% off purchases of $150 or $175 and since the suit will be about $300 that is alot of money for me. However, I'm worried if I wait then the sizes that I want, a tall 4 in the jacket and a tall six in the pants, will be sold out. Is there any way to estimate when Jcrew will send out those promotions? Any advice on whether I should wait or whether the tall sizes sell out fast? Thank you SO much to anyone who can help!

  95. Kristen, it's been a while since they had a general promo so another might be due. But, there isn't much rhyme or reason to the scheduling it seems.

Sorry I'm not much help. Good luck.

  96. Kristen,
you should be able to apply the 15% college student discount to your order. Not as much as a 20% promo obviously, but as the previous poster said, who knows when they'll do another one and by then the sizes you need might be sold out.

  97. I ordered online a lot (at least 1 package every week). So far, all items have tags, and they are in perfert conditions. Maybe I am lucky.

If the ebay item in question seems new and unworn, it's probably OK. I had items without tags that's stated unworn but it's really worn (there is perfume/deodorant scent).

I love the denim romper at Madewell. They called it a boiler suit.

  98. Hey Kristen,

I buy a fair amount of suiting from jcrew & have found some good deals along the way. A couple of suggestions:

    1) Ask around - Some B&Ms stock suiting, you may consider calling around to see if any in your area stock them (phone #s are on the store list on site). I know, you won't be able to try on tall sizes (I'm a petite & in the same sitc) however, you can get a feel for the styles & there's the red phone option. You should be able to use the red phone for free ship & if you can provide a student email, request the 15% discount. Also, try & use the free shipping codes when you can. You'll save a good amount of $$$ on investment pieces.

    2) Stalk the sales- I'm rather fond of the 120s suiting & I notice that it periodically goes on promo. Promotional prices don't always make their way onto the sale page. A little patience & persistence can pay off (ex: cute pencil skirt for <$60). Check pricing by using the search field. Enter key words like "pinstripe" or "jacket" & see what pops up (ex: ecoles are currently >$40). Alternatively, enter price points like $39.99 to see if anything works for you.

3)Snipe your size - Make sure that your fab find still has a few in your size left before committing. When you place your item in the basket, fill in the field w. a high # like 80, the system will let you know how many are still in stock.

In my exp., you can buy some lovely (& professional!) clothes on a limited budget. Even so, it's still a little like retail roulette.

    Sometimes I can snap things up at a great price... Other times I buy at FS only to see a better price later. Case in point... I just bought a skirt & 2 jackets with free ship this morning. The ecole was a great deal, but now I see that the soiree is turning up in many JCAs B&Ms w. a great sale price. Even so, I'm pretty happy because I got to use the freeship code which helped me save some $$$ & the gas to visit the B&M. Although, who am I kidding? I'll most likely go to the B&M this weekend anyway....Welcome to the addiction :}

    HTH,

  99. Kristen, Heather :D gives some good advice. While a J.Crew suit can be expensive, it is well worth the money if you consider the cost/wearing. They are good quality and timeless pieces you will wear for years.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Kristen I also suggest you go into the store and allow a PS to make the online order to save shipping cost and use your student discount.

  101. Thank you VERY much to Heather:D and everyone else who commented with such great advice! I tried your suggestion of putting in a high number to see how many of the jackets that they had left and they only had three. I called and ordered my suit and am so relieved! Unfortunately I don't have a Jcrew near me so I couldn't go in person to get the student discount but the girl did give me free shipping and I got 10% off for opening a Jcrew credit card (which could be very dangerous!)

I have one more question for Heather:D and anyone else who might be on this site. For a job where you need to wear a suit 5 days a week, how many do you think you need? I'd appreciate any advice or anyone's personal experience!

  102. I just got a double serge pencil skirt, merino turtleneck, watson pants, tall city fit luxe cord trousers, and tall velvet ecole jacket, for $160! hallelujah!

  103. My favorite fit cords didn't stretch out much with wear. They shrunk a bit in the dryer. I found them to run small, but they may be bc of the fit- I don't have a defined waist. My regular size was a bit snug and I ended up selling them. HTH!

  104. I agree with HeatherD. Switching out the bottoms of 2-3 suits can change the look along with accessories. JC suits are reasonably priced investments for sure.

  105. Cookie Mag-Rompers & EspadrilleApril 17, 2009 at 12:23 AM

Romper's are the rage for adults in Cookie magazine. Also, a JCrew espadrille in brown w/a touch of gold. It's ok, nothing to go ga-ga over.

  106. Kristen, take a look at how J.Crew and other retailers style their suiting. If you can possibly wear the suits as separates with other pieces that will extend your wardrobe immensely and your suits will last longer too. In the April catalog (viewable online), they have a section starting on page 66 that is called "The Work Shop: A new spin on suiting..." top 10 essentials styled with several other pieces. Some good ideas there and they typically have a few styled suiting pages in each catalog.

Several people on this blog have mentioned that they save catalogs and look through them for styling tips. Maybe a good exercise to use while shopping your closet for items to pair with your new suit.

Get the best basics you can afford and add color and trends with inexpensive pieces and accessories. If the double-serge pencil skirts come up on the J.Crew sale update, one might be a wise purchase, although you may not get much wear again until fall/winter. These skirts are exceptional quality and very inexpensive on sale. You could easily incorporate into your professional wardrobe and they will last for years. I bought one, fell in love and bought the rest of them too.

Original retail $128. Pops up on J.Crew sale occasionally for $49.99. If you can get a % off promo, even better.

  109. Excellent advice Heather :D and others. It's nice to have something significant to read sometimes. Not that I don't like the short comments, but sometimes it is nice to read a longer post.

  110. Hi JCAs,

    Anon 6:12 & 9:47, sorry I took so much time/space.

Anon 8:14 & 10:54, thanks for the compliment.

Kristen, hope some of that looong ramble was useful.

    Happy weekend everyone!

  111. Kristin--One other suggestion for work attire. I am a big fan of the super 120 dresses. Great option to a suit. Easily paired with a jacket for daytime, but something that can be changed up with an elegant cardi and/or jewelry for night time.

I am a lawyer at a large firm. These dresses are an entirely appropriate alternative to a suit in my work environment.

  112. Thank you so much to Heather:D for such great advice! I actually copied and pasted it into a Word document so I could be sure to have it again later. Also I went back into the Jcrew sale and was able to get the last velvet Ecole jacket in colbalt, a black Donegal tweed jacket and two Meringue blouses in ivory and tearose. I don't usually wear bolder colors like tearose so I'm excited to try some color. It's hard in college because most kids only wear jeans, tshirts, and often just their pajamas to class. Or if girls do get dressed up they tend not to choose the classiest types of clothes.

I also really liked what you wrote about clothes being your armour and about how they can make you feel more confident. I'm going to be working for the government in DC so it is a little intimidating!

I'm sorry to ask so many questions, but I promise this is the last one. What do you suggest for a purse? I know that Jcrew has all types of bags, but for going to the office should I buy one of their bigger bags(I really like the Belle or Editor satchel) that can also fit some papers or would it be better to have a purse and then also buy a briefcase?

Thank you so much Heather:D and everyone else who have given me such good advice!

  113. Kristen and Heather D you two should exchange emails so that you can continue your conversation privately :)

  114. Hi anon 8:38

You're quite right. I should have asked for an email earlier. I think we're pretty much finished with the advice session.

    Sorry for the inconvenience

  115. Ummm Alexis,

I'm at the home computer & am having a little trouble. I realised that my long messages are inconsiderate of my fellow JCAs. Could you please remove my comments from this post?

    Thanks,

    Heather:D

    ReplyDelete
  116. HeatherD I am sure there is a small trash can under your post which allows you to delete any post if you really want. My goodness!

  117. I think the dialogue b/t Kristen and HeatherD has been interesting and informative, and entirely positive and thoughtful in tone which is nice!

  118. I enjoyed the long posts between Heather and Kristen. Others may have found the advice useful and some have chimed in their 2c worth as well. I just don't get why people are complaining about it. Can't stand to other some JCAs having a good time? Your negative comments come off as very petty IMO.

This is a blog after all, longer posts are permitted. There are a lot of instances of people conversing back and forth on particular items, what's in a certain store, how do items fit, etc. And maybe some people don't want to give out their email on a blog. If you don't like the posts, skip over them. You too can think for yourself, I presume.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Hi again everyone,

Anon 6:32, I have tried to remove my comments & could not find a means to delete. That option wasn't available to me, so I presumed it was because this computer has another origin address. That's why I requested Alexis' help.

I truly had no intention to upset anyone by writing to Kristen. When it was brought to my attn that my posts were too long & ot, I reread them & realised the others were right. I was swept up in my desire to help Kristen & got waaay into TMI territory. It's ironic in a way; saying more than is appropriate or considerate of others when discussing appropriate attire by thinking of the people around you.

Thanks to the other posters for being so understanding. I meant no offense & to that end, I would like to repeat my request to Alexis. I consider it better to say nothing than to contribute a negative vibe to this blog.

Sorry for the long post & thanks for understanding,

    Heather:D

  120. Thanks for the heads up on the Brea B&M. I was able to pick up a few Michelle cardigans, bistro pants, gold silk mini, white Wendy skirt and the black & mint sash.

  121. Heather :D and Kristin, don't remove your posts! People are welcome to skim by them if they are not of interest. I don't read every post on the blog. These posts were very helpful to me though and I really appreciate them! I'm so glad they didn't take their discussion off list to private email or I wouldn't have learned a few really good tips!
