Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to take advantage of using your Red Card, to see what's available in the Spring Sale, or to see some new Spring arrivals in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Today I bought the Crocodile cocktail cardigan and (I think the last) cascading ruffle tee in light peach...I'm not sure about the name of the color..anyway..I like them both. The cardigan is not very impressive on the shelf but looks great on....such an interesting color...it's a cool brown with some pink undertones. I think they go great together, throw a pair of white jeans and you have a cool summer outfit.
I recommend it. The sizing is TTS I am a S and it fits perfect

  2. I'm looking for a slub-cotton puff sleeve tee (12668) in heather dusk, XS. Please let me know if you see any in your store - thanks!

  3. sale updated...I called about the 'sold out' dotted victoria ruffle cami. They have 5 remaining in a size 6. Too bad I'm an 8! Good luck to those looking :)

  4. Can anyone tell me if the garland cami is on sale in the stores.

I know it is a long shot- but if anyone sees it please shoot me an email marnie1@optonline.net

  6. sale site was updated sometime around 6:30 and I clicked on about 10 things and every single one was sold out. why are they on there if they are sold out? Their website is a mess.

  7. jcrewlover,
Yes, the same thing happened to me yesterday and again today. I have decided I am through. It is absolutely ridiculous!

  8. Went to store yesterday. Returned some previous purchases I wasn't fond of. Wanted to buy, but nothing interesting or tempting. Did try on a few things - and loved the medallion lattice top - but they did not have my size. But the SA ordered it on the red phone for me, and I got the 25% off. Cool. But it is coming in the mail. Waiting for the April 20th new arrivals.

  9. I've always loved J. Crew's basics, but lately it seems that that is almost all they are carrying in the stores. (At least the one I go to) I'd like some unique pieces and not just another reinvented, ruffly t-shirt. I guess maybe the summer rollout might be better, but I'm quickly losing interest.

  10. I'm looking for the icon trench in size 12. If anyone sees it please post. Thx!

  11. I was at my J.Crew this past Wednesday, so I won't be going back this weekend. The sale section was stocked full, though...lots of Saturday pants, Michelle V-Neck cardigans, Chinos, Tuesday trenches in Dune, Wendy skirts, and Atelier jackets.

Silver_Lining: I think they had several of the puff sleeve tees, but I'm not sure on the sizing. It was the Orlando store:407-226-9732.

As for the online sale section: I rarely check it anymore because I feel the *updates* are pretty much a *bait and switch*, since most items aren't even available when you click on them. It is just flat out annoying and a waste of time, IMO. It was really bad just after the website *upgrade* last year. I actually spoke with Mickey Drexler's associate about it, and I know for a fact they are aware it happens, yet they still refuse to do anything about it.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I agree with FFM, this online update stuff is a waste of time! Most times there is only 1 of an item left anyway. But ladies, if you really want something, I suggest you just call it in with the item # because they can make sure that the item is REALLY there AND you have a greater chance of it shipping out! :)

I'll be stopping by my B&M later and I'll give ya an update.

    Happy Friday everyone!

  13. If anyone sees a size 10, 12, or 14 silver sand jacquard jacket-long shot-in the sale section please post. If you could place it on hold I would be grateful. 12 is the best size for me, but I could make the other sizes work. Thank you so much!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Happy Friday FFM. Did you see the sale price on the Tuesday Trench? I guess I will go see the colors available on the Michelle if I my store has the Tuesday in my size. Thanks for the information.

  15. OT-

I had a J Crew sighting last night. During The Office, Angela was briefly wearing the Cotton-cashmere bouquet cardigan in putty.

  16. Good Morning Anon @8:35! I apologize, but I meant to write Travel Trench and not Tuesday Trench. I don't think the Orlando store ever got the Tuesday trench in actually. The Travel Trench was marked at $129.99 though. Have a beautiful weekend! :)

  17. Does anyone know if the Island eyelet short dress is carried in stores? It is sold out online but I would like to order it from a store if one is available.

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  18. OT, but does anyone know what time the website sale section is restocking now? I'm trying to catch a particular fast moving item and it would be great to know when I could try to catch it!

    ReplyDelete
  19. leaderboys - as of Wednesday, the garland cami was not on sale.

I really want the boyfriend chino in peach (in-store only color), but they didn't have my size. :( I also want the new corsage scoopneck tee, but they had sold out of the lavender. I am hoping that when I return at the end of the month, that they'll have new items and my size.

    Happy shopping!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Must have missed the update again this morning, oh well. The only item still scratching at my brain is the cherry blossom T. I haven't seen any at my B&M since the week they came out, and the thing is, I wasn't impressed for almost fifty bucks. But for thirty I can't stop thinking about it!

I still feel "meh" about what's in the sale section in Ann Arbor. There's lots of the bubble hem tanks left and lots of the shawl collar sweatshirt cardigans, some gateaus, ect. Sounds like about what's in the other stores. They do have the pique ruffle shift at 19.99, but it didn't suit me when I tried it on. Similar fit issues to the plisse strap dress, can be OK from the front, a big ole' mess in the back.

I am off to Somerset this Saturday, but will bypass Twelve Oaks. Thanks again to everyone who posts such helpful advice here! I'll report back from The Big Mall...

    ReplyDelete
  21. Desert Flower: I checked at 730, and it had been restocked.. same thing yesterday-- I think they are starting early, lately

All: Has anyone been to the Boston area stores lately? I may go to Cambridge tonight; I'll report back. Oh, and for those who asked last time, I'm a Boston gal : )

Also: Has anyone tried the Sydney dress? If so, is it TTS? I read JTS's review (thanks!!), but was looking for 2nd opinions-- the last 2 dresses I bought, I had 2 size down

    Thanks :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Leaderboys, sorry I missed your query. The garland cami is on sale in Ann Arbor's Briarwood store, but the only color I noticed is the yellow print, but they had an array of sizes from 0-12. 734-662-6630. Not sure of the price, though!

    ReplyDelete
  23. kendra: im going to the Cambridge one later today. also, we're having a boston personal shopping event on the 26th. Stop by j'adore these stores' blog for more details :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. I also noticed that updates were happening earlier this week. Like other JCAs commented, most of the items I was interested were sold out. Very annoying. I hate buying just one items only to order another item a few days later. It's a waste to spend the $$ on S&H. I wish I could find everything I'm looking for at one time. But as you all know, you have to swoop and check out quickly before it sells out. I wonder if J Crew does this intentionally? Arrgh

    ReplyDelete
  25. Kendra, 7:30 in what time zone? I'm out west, I probably need to get up reeeeaaaallly early! I'm trying for the tissue ruffle henley in plum and I keep missing it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Good morning everyone :)

How much are the gateau skirts in everyone's stores?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Desert Flower,

the tissue ruffle henley in plum is very rare. It is like one every half a month. It probably isn't even in your size.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I was at the JC at Polaris in Columbus, Ohio yesterday and the whole store was meh. Mostly capris and raggedy looking t-shirts in the regular section. A few gateau skirts, shawl collar sweatshirts, and plenty of tiki shirts (with the unfortunate silver thread) in the sale section. I hope new stuff comes to the store soon. Oh, and the store was a complete ghost town. I didn't see anyone make a single purchase while I was there.

Jenna Lyons is featured in the new VANITY FAIR mag. Lots of short questions abouther favorite brands, shoes, makeup -- and, suprisingly, she does name some favorite things that are NOT JCrew.

  30. I'm planning to check out the store in Copley (Boston, MA) tomorrow. I'll report back!

Did everyone get the email about J.Crew's $78 gladiator sandals? :/

    ReplyDelete
  31. I won't be visiting b/c I don't have a non-outlet B&M store nearby. However, I'm expecting the man in brown to deliver a package from JCrew today! I really hope everything fits--it was my first order from them! :)

On that note--Does anyone know how long it will take before they adjust to apply your student discount?? I would really appreciate if someone would share :) Thank you!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Anon 9:35, you're probably right. Doesn't stop a girl from hoping :) I've actually had it in my cart a few times, and seen it a few others, I think it's just a matter of time before I track one down. It's just easier if you know when to look and they've changed their restock time recently which is why I'm trying to determine when that is. I think it happens when I'm still asleep.

  34. Hi! Love the blog, nice to see other big JCrew fans out there. Question for you all! Has anyone bought the driving moc suede shoe? I am a half size, so I order down, like suggested, but they are sooo tight. Will they stretch out? Has anyone experienced this?

    Thanks!

    Dd

    ReplyDelete
  35. Desert Flower, good luck in your quest to find the Plum ruffle! I got it in black last year on sale and it's so cute. Better quality than other tissue material shirts I've had. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Why don't you try pleading your case on a CS call? Let them know it jumps out of your cart (or whatever the situation is.) They did a successful "Find It" search for me that I'm so happy about. Several weeks ago I lucked out and ordered a pair of the spectator peep toe patent heels in flame, along with two other items. The package was lost MUCH to my dismay, since I wanted those spectators forever. The first time I called and asked for a find it, they said they'd only do full price items. So I emailed the CS rep handling my lost package, and he noted on my account to allow the search. They placed find its in each color, and lo and behold, a store had my size but in the pink, which I initially like better anyway! The pair I ended up with is a tad beat up, I think one of the shoes was a display, but I choose not to be choosy at this point. So, if you're really having trouble ordering an item, don't give up hope! You can also try the Monday exchange if a call to CS doesn't pan out.

  36. Jill,
They should credit you when they ship your order out. Hope that helps!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Jill,
I'd say that you should see the credit back to your card within 3-5 business days AFTER it ships out to you. HTH! :)

  38. I was at King of Prussia last week and they had a hundred dazzling dots skirts on the rack. I'll be curious to see if they are still there after Michelle Obama was spotted (pun intended) wearing one;)

    ReplyDelete
  39. I went to the Tucson store last night to do a return and order from the red phone. I was able to use m y red card on the hone order, and the store did not ask for an ID to note my name on the card when I purchased something for my husband.

It seemed lie half the store was on sale----sale signs everywhere. Nothing really jumped out at me, though.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Another missed e-mail. I'm feeling blacklisted. Wish I'd known about those gladiators....

  41. I was at King of Prussia this week and they had a bunch of giraffe shorts if anyone is still looking!

  42. Has anyone seen the Dressy Jersey Twist Strap dress IRL? My local store didn't have it as of yesterday morning, but it's on the small side. Nice colors online! Too bad I just got the Fontana dress in aqua this week, the aqua on the twist strap is so pretty online.

  43. Still looking for these...

Ringspun chiffon graphic Rose Tee in Champagne Size M or L

Dusty Rose Patent Belt M & L - Skinny and Wide

If anyone sees these items please email me at

  44. J Crew was featured in today's NY Magazine A-List Invitations email under the headline "J Crew...The A-List for Spring." It's just the image of the April catalog cover with the free shipping w/ $175 purchase code, but still cool to see...

    ReplyDelete
  45. Can anyone explain the "find it" service to me? Every time I call to ask to find an item, they just tell me what I already know (that it's sold out, blah blah blah)

    ReplyDelete
  46. The find it search checks all the store inventories, not just what you can see and order online. The shoes I got that I posted about earlier, the spectator peep toes, maybe didn't make it onto the sales floor since one shoe was on display, but an item number search showed that it was still somewhere in the store. This way you can find unsold display items, or things that have gotten hidden by being on the wrong shelf during a move to the sale section, or returned to a store from online but haven't gotten sent back to the warehouse, or other things that have fallen through the cracks for any number of odd reasons. The unfortunate thing about the "find it" is it usually only will be used for full price items, but sometimes they make an exception if you have trouble ordering it online. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Are the new corsage tees really that great? They just look like limp fraying bits of fabric on a thin tee.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Corsage Ts are just OK, cute but the "perfect" fabric is lacking. I've gotten a couple crew and V necks in this material, and it seems to bag out too much, even after sizing down. They always need to be put in the dryer which I hate to do with thin shirts.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I love the new corsage t-shirts -- bought three of them with the red card because I couldn't decide which color to get! The fabric is much nicer than usual & I really like the scoop neck. Have not washed the shirt yet so hopefully the flowers won't get all droopy. It's probably one of those love or hate items.

  50. What are the current in-store selling prices of the cafe capris (solid and print), Kelly shirts (solid and stripes) and Jackie cardigans?

    Thanks!

  52. no jcrew trips for me this weekend, even though the eyelet strapless dress is haunting me... must resist pretty dress that fits me like a glove... *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'm convinced they put new 'sale' stuff on the website that's actually sold out because they want to get your adrenaline pumping - a particularly annoying form of trickery. It's not a website problem - it's them trying to get you in a racing-while-shopping mood. (Dudettes, if I didn't *still* like their clothes better than anyone else's, I *so* would have hit the road by now!...)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Sarah Jane - I have seen the gateau skirts for $59.99 as of last week.

domesticated_desk - I don't have the suede moc, but I have a few leather pairs. I am a 7.5, sometimes an 8 and I am very happy with my 7 in in pairs. Yes, they stretch out and form to your foot. I would be surprised if you like the larger size. $0.02

    ReplyDelete
  55. Ladies, I am sure this has been mentioned before. If you are looking for a particular item that you can not find on the website (either regular-priced or on sale), try typing in the item number or just a very general search term (skirt, shirt, blouse, tee...). If the item is available it would sometimes show up. This is particularly useful if you are looking for a sale item with low inventory. I have in the past found many sale items this way and most of them shipped fine. HTH

    ReplyDelete
  56. Since the corsage tees are mentioned earlier, is the scoopneck very low and wide? They look so cute but I can't wear anything that is either low cut or has a very wide opening. Thanks for sharing.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I have a three more items I'm looking for:

    _Strapless Abstract Rose Dress
    _Victoria Dotted Ruffle Cami
    _Madeline Ruffle Dress

    I know it's a long shot :)

please email me at goldcoastgal at gmail dot com

  58. OT - does anyone know about any current Martin + Osa promotions, besides free shipping?

    ReplyDelete
  59. anon @ 11:21 - thanks for the info. I wonder if they'd let me use my red card over the phone if I call from home? My ps called 4 stores that usually have lots of stock, and they were all sold out of the lavender.

anon @ 11:52 - I am a larger chested gal (36C) and I always have to size up on the perfect fit tees. Even with sizing up, the scoop was not too low. That's important to me since I teach high school.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Hi everyone,

    Wow! Sooo many great JCAs on this thread today. I started a list of names that I wanted to give a shout out to & realised it's practically everyone. So: "Hello all you lovely aficonadas!" Hope all your finds are fabulous :}

Ummm, Kendra, re the Sydney dress. I've tried it on IRL & saw another shopper try it as well. The other lady at my B&M bought one in Coral for a trip to the tropics. I thought it would make a great travel dress. Please note, she was very dainty, a size2 I think, & she planned on having it hemmed. As for me, I'm usually a 4r / 6p & felt it ran true to size. I'm a bit busty (34c) but the bodice fit just fine. That said, it has pleats in the back that I didn't care for - so I gave it a pass. I've also tried the Edie & felt it was a much sleeker look. Edie comes in just 3 colours tho' so I'm not sure if that would work. Just my 2cents.

As for my lovely B&M... Yes I plan on visiting this weekend. I have a few returns & I wanted to see if there is anything new in the sale section. I will report back if anything catches my eye.

Oh, & speaking of B&Ms - I just got a great note regarding the Los Gatos opening. One of my fav SAs sent a handwritten note to let me know that both she & another welcome face from a neighbouring B&M will be at the new store. I'm so excited! Two of the bestest JC associates at a store that will be closer to home. What more could a JCA ask for!

So, put me down for possibly visiting a local B&M this weekend & definitely visiting the new one next weekend. I hope to write y'all about the grand opening!

Hope all your weekends are amazing,

    Heather:D

  61. This may be a long shot, but is the white victoria shirt still being carried in stores? Or were they long gone, like months ago? I really wish there was a B&M in my area...

  62. Hi, my 14 month old son misplaced ONE of my favorite shoes!!! I think it ended up in the trash and I'm so very sad.
It's the yellow patent (favorite flat) I think the color is canary (maybe) I need a size 9 if anyone has any leads for me.

Also, I have a New Macbook Pro Sleeve to sell for $25 shipped.

Color Black Neoprene w/Power Pocket & Velcro closing flap(with white apple on the front), I paid $40 with shipping.

  66. Easton Town Center had the "putty" colored silk garland cami for $59.99. I am normally an 8 and the 4 fit well. I didn't buy though.

I also found, and bought, a aubrey jacket in the papaya color for only $22.49 with my red card.

They did not write my name on my red card, however this was the first time I used it.

I also got the cotton cashmere bouget cardi in putty for $37.50 with card and the double ruffle tissue T in rose for $24.37 with card.

  72. I haven't been in a J.Crew in months - nothing's really caught my eye. I do have a $30 giftcard (from Christmas! I haven't spent it yet!) and my mother has the 25% off card, so we'll see. I might stop in if I go to the mall sometime during spring break, but I have a feeling I won't find anything.

  73. Math teacher, the Soho store in NYC had definitively many lavender perfect-fit corsage tees as of yesterday afternoon(I've tried an XS on). It could be worth a phone call if you want it that badly.

Anon @11:52, the perfect-fit corsage tee has a low opening for sure. IRL pics (of the navy and natural) on my blog here. Gigiofca also reviewed the tee on her blog (http://gigisgoneshopping.blogspot.com)

  74. Where/when does J. Crew have the warehouse sale? I read about the warehouse sale on one of the posts.....

Can somebody let me know more about the warehouse sale from J.Crew?

    Thanks a lot

  75. For those wondering about how the new corsage tees wash: I have one in breeze that I just washed yesterday, and I am happy with how it turned out. I turned it inside out and washed and dried it on the delicate cycle, and the "flowers" are actually fluffier now IMO. They are made of the same fabric as the tee and they have a raw edge, which initially made me wary. But I think it looks great, although over time I think I will use a lingerie bag on it as I have begun to do with all my J.Crew tees, just to be safe. Hope that helps!

    ReplyDelete
  76. lilac cupcake: Thanks for the info on the care of the new corsage t-shirt. Hoping it is warm enough to wear on Easter. Not looking good right now, though. Still cold.

    ReplyDelete
  77. The corsage tees I tried on at my B&M had very sad little flowers. They looked more like someone had stapled some random bits of excess fabric to one side of my chest. :( But I loved the scoopneck cut, which I agree is not too low at all! It's too bad, because I really loved the cut and color (I tried on the navy) of the tee. It was the perfect length too, hitting at the lower hip.

Anon @ 2:17, I don't know about the warehouse sales, which seem to happen once a blue moon, but there's a sample sale happening in NYC next week. It's in this post.

  79. Thanks to Anon@11:45 for the reminder. I had typed in a keyword/item number before and had things pop up that weren't elsewhere on the site, but had forgotten to try this for a while. Did so just after reading your post earlier this afternoon, and snagged a jacket from last fall that I had been stalking on final sale for MONTHS! Have a great weekend, everyone.

  81. Just went to the Walnut Creek store on thurs & not a whole lot in the sale section, so, not gonna go this w/end. The garland camis were not on sale in store. Not much exciting at BM.

  82. FYI for you all who are as slub obsessed as I am: Victoria's Secret is doing a promo, two tees or tanks for thirty bucks. Their slub is about the same weight as JC (not very thick) but is extra soft since it's a modal/ cotton blend. They have cute crewnecks with a tiny patch pocket or long length tanks, in two different pinks, white, navy, and natural. They're also doing a promo for five dollars off any purchase if you try on the new bra, so I got two tees for $25 yesterday. They fit about the same as JC tees with a bit longer length. Happy weekend, everyone!

  83. ny0311: I noticed that too! her wedding dress is the silk tricotine rebecca long dress, I think!

  84. Just got back from the Cambridge store: Not much there at all! I bought a bejewled bangle for $12 but that was it! There were some large Thompson Metallic totes, a few Michelle cardigans, lots of dresses (don't know names), bunch of flower headbands, pattern belts $19.99, Rumpled Terry Cardigans $39.99 lots of sizes. Nothing to go crazy over!

Oh and No extra % off sale there.

In regards to the Red Card: The SA wrote my first and last name on it with a regular Cheapo Pen then asked for my zip code and email.

    Happy Shopping!

  86. The Mission Viejo store in CA had a pretty decent sale selection for a change. Lots of the terry cardigans, dresses, pink sateen skirts, Wendy skirts, cropped chinos and the Mahali dot capris, bikinis (including starfish and the yellow gladiola print), oodles of hair accessories and belts (some marked down to $9.99), a couple of the gold frog necklaces, black crown bracelets, and a couple pairs of the pillow earrings. Hope this helps someone!

  87. Just got some info from my PS regarding the next send-out of rewards cards/new arrivals (please forgive me if someone's already mentioned):

The first quarter of the year accumulates points from purchases made from January 1 to March 31, which will be transferred onto a rewards card that should reach you by the beginning of May.

Our big summer roll-out is set to debut at the end of this month. While I do not have exact dates, I would expect retail inventory to be updated week of April 20, and online inventory later that same week. Our in-home date for the May catalog is set for April 25.

    YAY rewards cards!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Yes, I knew the rewards cards were coming. This is a first for me and show how sad JCrew past 3 months of clothing options have been for me. I got a JCrew card when they first came out years ago--in 2004. This is the first rewards period that I have not earned enough to get one. And usually I get a $125!

  89. Hi - a long shot, but has anyone seen a snow leopard cardigans in size small in their stores? I'm desperately trying to find one. Not the tartine one. TIA.

  90. Need some support fellow JCAs. I was so excited to hear that the mineral canvas atelier jacket that I was waitlisted on had shipped. It arrived today- I was thinking I might be able to work it into the Easter ensemble as I opend it to find a silk tricotine special occaision dress that of course I did not order. No jacket in sight- just a packing slip saying it was there with the random dress. I called CS- since it was a waitlisted item that is now sold out- they can't put me on the list, so the old too bad, we're so sorry- please make sure you return the dress. I AM SO ANNOYED. This is the third time in 6 months the warehouse has packed up the wrong thing and then I am expected to schlep it back to a store or post office with not much of a sorry for the incovenience. Enough with my venting session- if anyone out there is looking for a missing P12 silk dress and happened to get my jacket, please post.

  91. I checked out my local outlet today and did really well. They have the convertible swing dress (still in retail stores) for $34 in navy, putty (i think?), aqua, hot pink, and black. They are awesome! Also lots of clearance with an extra 20% off. I got another pair of the high heel flares, direct from the retail store, for $6.98, originally $9.97.

  92. I just called my local Jcrew store and asked them if they had any extra % off sale items. She said they wont be having it anymore in the near future because the store has been doing so well that they dont need and extra % to clear the sale items. Thanks to the First lady

  93. The store in Richmond, VA had a few things on promo and a lot in the sale section but no great deals. They wrote my name on the card but they let my boyfriend and I both use it- so I'm not entirely sure what the point was. The SA seemed really annoyed I wanted to use the card at all. I prefer shopping in the Norfolk, VA store. The SAs are much more laid back and helpful.

  94. Anon @ 6:41. Call JC and press them to do a WWFIFY search of the stores. There has to be another one out there.

  95. Soooo....I was at the Rockefeller Ctr (NYC) store this afternoon. They have some new things, including pretty (but too lightweight) cardigans with pretty crystal-like buttons. And they are in gorgeous BRIGHT colors like deep coral/red and bubblegum pink. Love!

Now - I was at the register making a purchase and the on-a-power-trip cashier (don't you just HATE those?) made such a process of getting me to take out an ID (apparently a credit card with my name on it was NOT enough), checking it super carefully, and then writing (scrawling is more like it) my name in giant letters across the back of my red 25% off card. I didn't think I would have a problem with it but when the time came it was her presumption that I would share the card, etc that really bothered me.

Now, I understand that J Crew can limit the promotion, etc, and has not sent the card to everyone. But if they wanted to make sure the card was not transferred, why not create a mailer where the coupon part punches out and includes the area where you'd put the person's name and address? It is kind of insulting to have sales associates handwrite customers names on the card.

We spent the better portion of the afternoon looking at relatively expensive watches and it was not until I got to J Crew that I was made to feel like some kind of criminal (or a reprimanded schoolgirl)!

  98. O/T, but . . . if anyone else is having trouble with inconsistent/vanity sizing, could you please join me in writing JCrew about this? I have complained but these complaints don't seem to have been heard. Maybe if they heard from more of us they might do something about it? Thanks so much, fellow JCAs!

  99. I went to one of my favorite stores this week in NYC and was able to purchase a pair of the Selima aviator sunglasses for my husband for $148 ($275 down to $198 + the 25% red card discount). Needless to say, I am more than thrilled. So thrilled, that I managed to find another $450 worth of stuff to buy! I'm not rich, but I can't help myself. The butterfly bauble bracelet is so great--highly recommended--even with jeans, it will be so cute.

  100. Anon@6:41--I'm really sorry to hear this happened to you, and more than once. Have you expressed your frustration to CS? I've found being polite, but direct and assertive, goes a long way with them. You might want to ask them to price match on another jacket you would like, or ask that you get free shipping on your next order to compensate for your trouble in returning the dress. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Does anyone out there own the velvet Ecole jacket? If so, could you please speak to the fit? I tend to find J. Crew's tailored pieces a little snug, and usually wear a 14 - which is the largest size the Ecole comes in. I'm tall - 5' 8 1/2" - so I was going to order a tall 14, but was wondering if the consensus is that it runs a little snug, TTS, or forgiving... before going through with the order. The sale price is great, and I was going to tuck it away for next Thanksgiving if it worked.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Yes, by doing this name writing thing. J Crew has instructed and empowered their employees to treat customers with open suspicion. So tacky and lowbrow. So much for the 'upscale' feeling they're trying to create.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I went to a J.Crew Outlet store today and I have to say that I was not impressed. I tend to find that outlet stores do not actually carry original J.Crew clothes, but rather "made for outlet" clothes. I'm just not into that because their quality seems sub par and the sizing seems irregular. What do you all think? I even searched for some accessories/jewelry, but the outlet did not offer it...

    ReplyDelete
  104. I don't think I'll be going to JC this weekend. I've been too often in the last 2 weeks due to that silly 25% off card! The Lenox and Perimeter(GA) JC stores have the Silk Garland Camis for $59 now. The price online is still $88. I got a cream one-- it's a perfect match for the silk dupioni skirt in champagne. Also, I noticed some of the items in store are marked up. One of the SAs mentioned that they honor the online prices so if you notice something you saw online for cheaper, ask them to call in and verify and you get the online price. I did that for the fresco top on Monday. Happy shopping everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  105. Sarah - which outlet did you visit?

    ReplyDelete
  106. Today after using the Red Card several times I was finally asked for ID and name written on the card. The SA was nice very matter of fact about it. Not annoyed but odd after using it often that just now this occurs.

Managed to scoop up a navy Aubrey for $24!

BTW - my B&M had the rumpled terry cardi for $29.99.

If anyone sees a pair of 8 suiting pants in black please let me know! They have been marked to $39.99 but none in my size. Or any suiting in an 8! Boo!

  107. Velvet Ecole sizingApril 10, 2009 at 8:54 PM

Anony 8:24 - I usually wear a 10 in J.Crew jackets and I purchased the velvet ecole in size 12 on FS during one of the promos after Christmas. I find the 12 to fit OK, it was not overly roomy but not as fitted as my herringbone ecole. I think I would have been fine with the 10, my usual size, but it wasn't available at the time and I wanted to wear it right away.

You will likely be fine with the tall 14 because they tend to add a little extra room in the tall sizes. With the hook and eye closure instead of buttons it should be forgiving and you can wear it open nicely too.

    HTH

    ReplyDelete
  108. Anon @ 8:24 -- I can't say for sure, but I think the velvet ecole fits pretty TTS.

I had a bad experience with the Fiona being too tight in the shoulders, so I sized up in the Ecole since it was final sale and better too big than too small! It's fine and I can wear it over a button-down shirt easily, but over a tissue tee it's roomy. I think I could have been fine with my normal size. In fact, I think my true size would fit better, since it's a bit big in the bust for me.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I bought 2 library shawl cardigans (putty and pewter, both XS) on final sale during the 30% off promo. The putty one fits great, but the pewter one was really baggy. They let me exchange the pewter one, but the new one they sent is baggy too! You would think the same sweater in different colors would fit the same way. So frustrating!

    ReplyDelete
  110. 8:24 I concur with the previous two posters, the velvet ecole is pretty much TTS and the tall is cut slightly roomier so you should be fine with your usual 14.

  113. I just wanted to share my great experience today!

I headed over to my local B & M (Cambridge, MA) to return a couple dresses in the wrong size (FYI: for me, the melody dress fits TTS, the cotton-poplin tie front dress ran a size big), and with the plan of ordering a few items through the red phone (I emailed CS and they said it was OK--but I printed out the email and brought it with, just in case)

The SA's at the Cambridge store are great, and they set me up with a room. The sale section was well stocked today, from what I remember:

Saturday pants in all colors, 39.99
gladiola print pencil skirt, size 4 and up
merino v neck cardigans, assorted colors
a mix of skirts and 1 pr of zebra print shorts
    printed button ups
3/4 button up in pewter, 39.99
cafe capris in 2 different prints, a coral-ish color, and pink
lots of headbands, flipflops also on promo
    embossed halter dresses
    jewlery (on the counter)
waterfall cardis, pencil skirts on promo

It was the best-stocked I've seen in a while! The SA's were great and helped me to place an order on the red phone- Saturday pants in grey, sydney dress, and a v neck T -- with the red card.

Also picked up: Saturday pants in champagne($30), waterfall cardi ($44 on promo!), pillow cystal necklace ($30), and a frog charm necklace ($15!!!) for a gift!

Havent had that great of a JCrew shopping experience in a while.

To JCrew: giving loyal customers a coupon once in a while increases brand loyalty and makes us MUCH more likely to buy more!! Besides having to return the dresses, I doubt I would have gone to the B&M if it weren't for the red card. Thanks, JCrew.

  117. Thanks Ashley and Kendra for the Cambridge advice! I have to go to there or Copley this weekend to do a bunch of returns -- will be curious to check out what's on offer.

And re returns...I got a petite shirt with the 30%-off sale (fortunately not final sale) but don't like the color. Is it possible to exchange it for a different color and keep the price? Any chance I could do this in the store, assuming they have those shirts in petite sizes?

    TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  118. TUMC,
I'm pretty sure the stores don't carry petite sizes unless someone did a return. I think the only way you'll be able to get an exchange for the same price is if you do an exchange by mail. I'm not positive so you might want to call CS just in case. HTH! :)

    ReplyDelete
  119. I completely agree with Kendra that offering the red card discount increases brand loyalty. With all the weird name-writing-on-the-cards aside, it does make customers (at least me) feel more appreciated. I have not shopped at a B&M in over a month, but the red card enticed me back. I've found lately that the catalog and online have been really boring. Luckily, my local B&Ms are well stocked with goodies in the sale section. Here are a few of my favorites-

    Love, love, LOVE:

Saturday pants - great drape, thank goodness for short sizes (finally something I don't need to have hemmed!); minor complaint in sizing; the 00 is still not even a real 0 elsewhere - if I can pinch almost 2 inches of excess fabric from the waist, something is not right; I remember when I wore 2P in JCrew bottoms because I was oozing out of the 0P (I have not lost any weight)

Cotton-cashmere bouquet cardi - so pretty, so soft, and at $37.50 after discount, I couldn't resist buying 2. I especially like that it's fitted w/o being constricting and is not too long. This is the best fitting sweater I've bought from JCrew in a while.

Silver foil henna tee - been looking for something like this to wear under my charcoal boucle astrid. I first spotted it on an SA who wore it under a black cardigan, but I was thinking of wearing it under my navy lili ruffle cardi. Or pair it with a black pinstripe blazer and jeans and totally feel like a rock star. $22 and change after discount.

Large canvas magazine tote - $30 after discount (this had to be a mistake, right?); can't say enough about this one; large enough for everything a jamie bag holds and then some with barely a sag; perfect for travel as it folds up nicely; love the leather handles which are long enough (longer than the thompson totes) to carry over the shoulder comfortably

    Almost loves:

Constellations strapless dress - love the shape and fabric, wish it were longer, too big in the waist. Oh JCrew, I need a 00 to even have a shot

Cotton-slub silk lattice dress (light gray w/ yellow trim) - great price at $75 after discount, very pretty IRL, but this one runs large IMO

    An unbelievable STEAL:

Black/hunter green Crewcuts jacket - this looks like a holiday jacket, from the "Crewcuts Collection", a miniature version of a typical men's dress blazer with silk lining and even a hidden little pocket, so CUTE! Had to get this for my nephew even though he can't wear it for a while; it was on ultra discount for $19.99 - that's right, a whopping $15 after discount. Not bad for a blazer that was originally $228!

Sorry for the long post, everyone!

  120. I was at a Boston area J. Crew today (one I don't go to very frequently). While my significant other was sitting in one of the bf/gf chairs, a sales associate heard me tease him by saying in a loudish tone: "stop following me around the mall and giving me opinions in what I try on". As I walked back to the dressing room, the SA asked if he was my boyfriend and I said "NO!" and laughed. Apparently after he joked he just saw me in the mall and started following me around (keeping our joke alive) she asked whether we were friends with benefits! He said he gasped and essentially said: "That's the woman I love, that's insulting." That's def. taking the casual chatter too far!

Also, I'm still really underwhelmed by the current offerings. The fabrics look cheap, the colors are muted (although that could be recession chic) and some of the merinos are pilling, IN THE STORE. The crazy sizing is also throwing me off. Can we start a letter writing effort?

    ReplyDelete
  121. Also, sending out the card and MISSING people creates people (me and a others on this blog) NOT wanting to shop with JCrew.

I am not shopping with them this month. I spend A LOT with them and this makes me a bit upset. Nothing I have to have anyway but I would go and find a few nice things with the card if I had one.

So, yes, I ordered a bunch of Land's End and Boden this weekend and am shopping these stores this month!

  126. Anon 8:19. Call the Indianapolis store this morning. They had an 8 two days ago. Don't know if it has been purchased by this time. 317-848-2739. Also, I saw a grey (?) dress with the yellow lattice print in a small size (was it 2 or 4?) and the price was insanely cheap. They had smaller size navy Aubrey linen jackets for $29.99 and black 120s suit pants for $39.99--no jackets, though.

    ReplyDelete
  127. I won't be shopping this weekend, still upset that I was overlooked for a red discount card. Has anyone else that was overlooked called J.Crew to complain?

    ReplyDelete
  128. nomoneyfun, it's no wonder the SA was confused. I don't even fully understand what happened, and I read your story three times! Your joke was probably totally clear to you, but it's baffling from the outside. Give the SA a break, she didn't mean to insult you.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Nomoneyfun - I absolutely think we should start a letter writing effort about the ridiculous sizing. Like Anon at 12:23, I need smaller than a 00 at J. Crew - and they rarely ever even stock 00s. I can squeeze into a 0 at Banana (barely) but everywhere else I am at least a 2. It's out of control! I find that even if my J. Crew clothes fit when I buy them, they stretch out an enormous amount after I wear then once or twice. And as tops go, I usually have a good 2-3 inches gaping under my arms. I would buy a lot more if any of it actually fit me. Anyone else up for this?

    ReplyDelete
  130. Anon@ 8:17 thanks so much for talking me down off the ledge. I called CS back this morning, explained that I was feeling frustrated and asked if I may pick out a similar jacket for the same price as the atelier canvas. She accomodated me with no problem; they are shipping out the crocodile cocktail jacket for the $68.60 (it was during the 30% off promo)so I am pleased as punch. Thanks again for your advice- I am now getting a jacket that I like a lot better for a great price and the 45 minute drive to my B&M to return the $200 dress that I didn't order doesn't feel so bad.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Anonymous @ 8:41- Ditto for me. As I've said before, I don't mind that random people get discount cards in the mail, but the wording used for our most loyal customers really ticks me off. I spend a lot, have a silver J. Crew card, got one last time but not this time. I've turned to other retailers and plan on sticking with them. No J. Crew for me.

    ReplyDelete
  132. I won't set foot in JCrew until May 1, after the randomly discriminatory red card expires!

    ReplyDelete
  133. Wow, I totally agree w. Anon. about the 'discriminatory' red card ~ happy for those of you who got one, but, for us who didn't (i have a jc card), it sux. I'm not buying anything either until May 1, just bec. I know others will get same merchandise for 25% less.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Wow - I have a silver J. Crew card and did not receive a red card. I don't feel discriminated against, nor am I not shopping at J. Crew in protest. The whining is just ridiculous. I appreciate that several of you are not shopping J. Crew until May 1st in protest. However, the only realy protest is if you stop shopping there altogether. I really think the last three comments are epidemic of what is going on in our culture. There is so much jealousy and enmity in people, that they can no longer celebrate the little good things that happen to others. Consider this your opportunity to be thankful for what you do have and hope for a red card next time.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Does anyone know at what time they updated the site today ?

    ReplyDelete
  136. For those of you who did not receive a red card and are offended and not purchasing as a result, please send J.Crew an email so they know they are doing some damage with this promo. They must know that people will find out they didn't get a card, and hearing directly from customers will have more of an impact.

I received a red card but I did email that I think it was unfairly distributed and that other customers were offended so I was boycotting J.Crew in solidarity. I usually spend quite a bit on a regular basis, but not this month. And, I've taken it one step further - I will not even WEAR J.Crew during April. Surprisingly, it's kind of fun to ban J.Crew for a month. I feel like I'm getting back at them in a small way. I know I will wear and shop again, but it is the point of the matter for me.

I'm there with you left out JCAs!

  141. Anon@ 10:27- You must be rich because the 25% off would really help me out now. Also, you seem not to understand the fact that we don't have a problem with others getting the discount. It is the way the card was written and hearing that others who received the card don't or haven't shopped at J. Crew in awhile. You can voluntarily choose to pay full-price if you want, but I'm not that stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Anon @ 10:27am, pls read the posts, its not jealousy nor enmity, the posters have said they are not unhappy that others got the red card, but the random way its distributed. Some w/ JC silver cards, did not get one. Its normal to feel excluded under those circumstances, and in this economy, that is not the feeling you want your customers to have.

  144. I know this is completely off-topic, but I'm wondering whether anyone else out there bought any of the new cashmere cap-sleeve sweaters this winter/spring. I used to LOVE the rolled-edge ones but the new ones have bound hems at the sleeve and waist. I got two (burnt pecan and pewter) a couple months ago because I liked the colors so much, and I could get them on promotion, but have found that after two (gentle) wears each, the material in the body (everything but the binding) has loosened and gotten... poofy. They both look totally stupid now - like I'm starting to show. I know jeans 'get bigger' when you wear them a couple times, but these are the first sweaters I've *ever* had that have behaved like this. I'm wondering whether it's a sign that the yarn is of sub-par quality, if it can't hold its shape against a binding. Is it just me? I went to put one on this morning but had to take it off, because it looked so droopy. I'm definitely sending them back...

It is not just a few. I completely and totally disagree. Many have also posted many times that the JCrew's are ghost stores without much traffic. It is the RARE post that states the store is busy. JCrew would not be offering 25% off red cards if business was good!

  156. anon @ 2:39: I am heading to the Chester store today! My parents live in Long Valley so on breaks when I m home that is my go-to store. It's super small but the SA's are lovely!

  157. Well, everytime I'm in the Charleston, SC, store, it's hopping. Granted, during the school year I can only shop on weekends (they close early during the school year and it's located downtown which is inconvenient for me), but it was also busy this Wednesday morning. My 2 cents.

  158. I was at the JCrew store in the Cherry Hill Mall in New Jersey. The store was small but very well stocked. I didn't have the red card to use but there was one at the register that the cashiers were using for everyone. I thought that this was really nice of them. It's a new store so I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

  160. Dina: I think there were a couple of size 10 Gladiola print pencil skirts at the store I visited today...here's their number: 828-274-3995 (Asheville, NC). They definitely had a bunch of 8s, and I think a couple of 10s. They were on sale for $49.99 too.

    ReplyDelete
  161. The Asheville NC store had a TON of french terry cardis at $29.99. Also a bunch of silk garland camis at $49.99 and even a couple of Bria camis (I think that's what they were).

I reviewed several things I tried on over at my blog. There was a new cami out on the floor that an SA told me is part of the upcoming summer roll-out.

  162. I was at the Tucson store today to make some returns. Someone here found me the rosette tee in XS, unfortunately it was too small. Right after I returned it and they put it on the retail floor, it was purchased! Happy someone could get it.

The Tucson store had the charmeuese pencil skirt in pewter and the blue bow skirt, both $69. There were lots of high heel flares in white in the sale area $29, gladiola cami for $79, meringue sleeve tops for $39. Lots of promos like bermuda shorts, capris, waterfall cardis. All were good deals with the 25% off.

I picked up quite a few things including a not yet online necklace called crystal chandelier. I made good use of the red card!

  163. Got the gladiola skirt, thanks!

  164. Companyies do not advertise if business is good. No need to.

Companies do not offer promos that can be used multiple times in a month if business is good.

Even if there are people in the stores the SA I spoke with said there are lots of returns with the amount purchased being less than what was returned.

  165. I thought this was supposed to be a fashion/style blog.

Why is every other post about people crying they did not get a red card.

Or they are banning J Crew for the month of April.

Please find somewhere else to gripe/cry/whine it's getting old.

Stick to the Fashion/topic issues at hand.

  166. AppGal, that new top is adorable! I couldn't resist and picked it up in the shell color, along with a merino microstripe cardigan in beechwood - they looked so cute together. That top also comes in fuschia.

  167. Not shopping JCrew this weekend, nothing thrilling me. On this red card inconsistent distribution stuff ... I got a red card and have a silver JCrew charge card, but I don't spend nearly the $$$ that it seems many of the other JCAs do. I am an admitted "bottom feeder"...I only buy on serious sale, often FS w/% off. My closet is 75% JCrew and I am always looking for Target etc. knock-offs. Everyone thinks I spend a fortune. I don't; kids and other priorities.

Speaking of Target...I was there today, and got a gray deco dot cardi knockoff for $12.50 (gigiofca reviewed it), and a cute new rosette tee knock-off I havent seen before for $14.99. Hope that helps if there are any other "bottom feeders" out there.

  168. Anon @ 4:07 thanks. Went to the Chester store this afternoon. You're right. Very small (women's only) but everybody that worked there was great. Not much on sale. They said they are getting new summer items on the 20th! Cannot wait!

  169. Went to the N. Michigan Ave. store this afternoon.

Lots of Gateau skirts in all colors, Saturday pants, headbands, the pencil case sized bags, socks, belts on sale. Also, lots of cardigans of all sorts, 3/4 sleeved button-downs, embossed Aubrey halter dresses in tea rose, black, and white, and dressy jersey ruffle dresses. Still a few pique pavilion dresses. About 6-7 gold minis (the shiny ones with the elastic at back).

In terms of shoes, there were a bunch of patent Cates slingbacks in lemon and other bright colors(can't remember price), Rimini gladiators in the coral and the green-ish color (can't remember the name) for 49.99, Palermo sandals, and Joley flats for 79.99.

Basically, there's a lot of stuff on sale. I did see the cami from the new rollout, but while it thought it was cute, I wasn't bowled over by it.

    HTH!

  170. Bluenana -

I think that is a Factory Store item. I was in a J. Crew Factory Store today buying a necklace without a tag and when they pulled out the SKU book with the photocopied pictures of the items, I saw your charm bracelet. It makes sense to me too because I am pretty up to speed on the nautical stuff and charm bracelets that have been on the website and I have never seen yours before.

For what it's worth, every place I went today (outlet mall and regular mall) was packed. I had to drive around to find a parking space. Both the J. Crew Factory Store and the full price store were very busy with a steady line of customers at the register. I had very pleasant, very helpful sales associates at both locations.

  171. I agree, people not buying WILL hurt JC, perhaps they will get the message. Plus, for all who post on this blog, there are those lurkers who read and don't post, so, I'm sure many more are not buying. I spoke w/ a BM mgr and he said they are 'surviving', his words, not mine.

  173. Was at the Emeryville store today, tried on the bow skirt, super cute, but not for $110. I guess some Bms have it on sale. I was at a diff. store on thursday, and it was totally dead. ATLoft and Banana had some cute stuff, way more reasonable, and lots more traffic. Didn't buy anything.

  174. Just got back from my local B&M (Carmel CA). I am not sure if other stores offer the same deal, but I spotted following items in the sales section.

Solid silk garland cami (white sand only) $59.99: other colors were still $88.00.
    Cotton sateen gâteau skirt $59.99

I ordered the eyelet strapless dress in lavender (store-only item?) from the San Francisco store, but they sent me a wrong color, gray one! But it is too cute to part with:)

  175. Sarah,

Did you happen to see any sara soft jersey dresses at the outlet by any chance?

  176. Perhaps the boycott and email won't hurt J.Crew, but perhaps it can help them reconsider another run of the red card promo. A regular 25% off sale like other stores have for EVERYBODY would be much better. It would likely increase sales and also make customers grateful. They could even call it customer appreciation, as many stores do with their sales. If they are going to be selective then specific criteria would at least let those that don't meet the criteria understand that they are not purposely overlooked.

I firmly believe that email complaints and suggestions can make a difference.

  177. Desert Flower - OMG - Crystal Chandelier!!! Isn't that the standard hollywood name for a stripper? You know, like 555-XXXX is the standard phone number? I totally LOL when I read your comment about the jewelry item.

  178. We are in a recession and most companies are not doing as well as in the past. Most stores are having huge discounts and sales not just JCrew. I think taking advantage of the discounts are great. Many of us should be grateful we still have a job, savings etc. The opportunity to shop is a blessing in these trying times.

    ReplyDelete
  179. hahaha anon, that is exactly what I thought when I read desert flower's post. Now, now could I ever wear an item with that name? I would be laughing all day long.

  180. I don't think they'll worry about people boycotting if they're still cruising and writing on J. Crew blogs!

pent up demand could be expected to burst forth. . .

  181. Cambridge store sale section was well stocked today, from what I remember...cafe capris in 2 different prints, a coral-ish color, and pink

    Hi Kendra,

I just called 4 Boston area stores including Cambridge asking about pink and coral print cafe capris and no one had ever heard of them. Are you sure you saw cafe capris and in Cambridge?

If anyone happens to have the style numbers for these prints, I would appreciate it. I live in cafe capris in the summer and I am making a trip to Boston next week to stock up.

    Thanks!

  184. Just got back from The Big Mall... Somerset Collection in MI. Their sale section was filled to the gills. Gateau skirts, very cute in the orange IMO, it really pops next to so much blandness. Tons of the dresses in all sizes in colors- the ruffle top dressy jersey, a few tea rose Jane dresses, all of the "beachy" cotton dresses that have been on sale. A table full of random merino sweaters and headbands, and a big selection of cute flats on sale for 79.99. Plenty of the bubble hem tanks, some meringue sleeve tops, and lots of the shawl collar cardigan sweatshirts for 39.99.

Didn't see the one thing I went in looking for, the new dressy jersey twist strap dress. Has anyone seen it IRL? It's $78 on the website, so can't use red card, boo. The SAs were exceptionally helpful and pleasant when I asked about the dress, brought it up on the computer there and would have ordered it for me.

Seemed to be plenty of traffic there, but that mall seems to be doing pretty well overall.

    ReplyDelete
  185. PS to Somerset post: garland camis in a couple colors for 59.99, I believe. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  186. Actually, I'm kinda glad I did not get the 25% off card, after seeing how much the people who did have bought w/ it. People in my corp. keep getting layed off weekly, and I guess I save a couple hundred not buying at JC this month! Thanks JCrew, seriously, not snarkyly.

    ReplyDelete
  187. Thanks for the clarification, Kendra.

Too bad, because I was imagining some really cute pink and coral print patterns...

On the other hand, I am going to get the khaki and Mahali dot patterned cafe capris so I should be fine with those!

    ReplyDelete
  188. Anyone see the v-neck sweaters on sale at their B&Ms? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  189. @Ashley: Thanks for the advice on finding the shirt in petites! I guess I'll have to decide if it's worth the money to ship it back for an exchange...

And I stopped by the Cambridge store to return some online purchases. The sale section was slightly smaller than when I stopped by last Sunday; lots of French terry cardigans, button-up shirts, flip-flops, as Ashley and Kendra have posted. But I did see a non-sale cardigan there that I can't find online -- a very light V-neck cardigan w/ 3/4-sleeves and no special trim. I think that it's cotton and hits at the hip, priced at $59.50; I was looking at a version in shell pink. I thought I memorized the style number, but apparently not (something maybe like 14888?). Has anyone else seen it? Any idea what cardigan this is?

  190. Hi anon @ 9:29... I wonder if we were in the Somerset store at the same time today! I went to the Lilly Pulitzer store first and ended up spending way too much there so at JCrew I only got the birdcage necklace and a cute gold bracelet for $7.50.

And for anyone who is interested in the Jayne dress... I wear a 4 in JC suiting dresses but they had a 2 there so I tried it on for the hell of it, because I thought it looked big. Well, I was right. A 4 would have been way too big... so size down on this one if you're considering it! It runs an entire size large!

    ReplyDelete
  191. Has anyone tried on/purchased the printed silk chiffon whitney short dress? I'm nowhere near a B&M and I think this dress would be cute for a rehearsal dinner I'm attending. Any thoughts on the dress? The sale price definitely makes it a little more intriguing...

    ReplyDelete
  192. Anon 9:20 it is empowering and prudent to decide not to shop, even when tempted. Not everyone rushes out to buy as soon as they have a few dollars or a discount burning a hole in their pocket. I LOL @ U if that is a foreign concept.

    ReplyDelete
  193. Anony @ 9:20, think of the money you will save spending all the money you can't afford, just because you can get a discount.

Some people are very selective and reading this blog will help them decide whether OR NOT to purchase something, based on someone else's opinion. Even if I like something now, why buy at 25% off with the red card when I can get it for 60-80% off on sale in a few weeks?

    ReplyDelete
  194. No B&M for me this weekend. I'm spending the holiday with family and volunteer work.

For the large formal dinner it's the metallic linen strapless dress in flax, the Jackie cardigan in mauve and a pair of Tory Burch putty-colored heels.

For the volunteer work I'm wearing the surplus trouser jean in the faded wash, a turquoise Ralph Lauren polo and Chie Mihara's Dura heels in grey/navy.

What are you wearing for the holiday weekend?

    ReplyDelete
  195. Anon 8:36pm--

Wow, thanks so much! I can't believe that J.Crew not only sent me the wrong item, but they send me an outlet item!

I bought it on final sale, so I know I'm going to have a hard time returning it, but it doesn't even match the receipt to boot. I sure hope they don't give me a hard time about this.

    Thanks again!

    ReplyDelete
  196. Bluenana, I've always found J.Crew to accept final sale returns on defective merch. There's no reason they shouldn't accept a return on incorrect merch either.

  197. Here's what I'm wearing for Easter, at least, this is what I plan to wear and I may change my mind tomorrow. ;-)

Mahali dot capris, short-sleeve cotton cardi in shell, Tory Burch heels in light blue - can't remember the style name and I'm too lazy to go check the box. :P I am undecided about which jewelry pieces to wear. Maybe if Alexis opens a topic for Easter outfits I'll post once I've made up my mind.

    Happy Easter/Passover everyone!

  198. this is what I found: J.Crew on 45th and Madison in New York city had 25% off any regular priced shoes. Crewneck Painter tees in a wide arrange of colors were reduced to just $24.50. Cotton Sateen Gateau skirt reduced to $59.99. Cafe capri for $59.99. Add to that savings of 25% off using your red card and you have got yourself a deal.
