"Thanks!" to many of you who let us know that many, if not most, J.Crew stores will be putting out their latest "new arrivals" in stores today (or in the next few days).
So if you plan on stopping by a store to check out the arrivals, please share what new items you spot. Also, it would be super-helpful if you could mention which location you visited and if you recommend other Aficionadas to visit the store. "Thanks!" in advance! ;)
Quick Poll: Are you excited about the newest arrivals?
Yay! I'd love to hear a report from the Cambridge store (my favorite!), as I won't be there until Friday.
ReplyDeleteColumbus Circle, NYC on Mon night - saw the watercolor floral pencil skirt, lots of ruffly tanks (a la victoria but with small horizontal ruffles instead of large vertical ones); crystal button cardigans; a skirt that someone mentioned here a while ago - it's a beechwood and orange striped skirt that appeared but wasn't featured in an outfit showing off some other item, maybe a new arrival top? It was hanging on a slightly odd display rack. The rack was completely out of the way (not sure if they were waiting to put it out or if it was just supposed to be off to the side, but there was intentionally only one of each item on display so it wasn't like they were stocking the floor). It featured a print ad of a model wearing a ruffly tank in an ivory color, the watercolor pencil skirt, and maybe the Joely heels? Didn't get that close to it. The heading on the ad referenced something about wearing menswear "your way", which I found odd as a frilly top, pencil skirt, patent-leather peep toe shoes and menswear don't so much get mentioned together in fashion-speak. There were some men's items on display on the rack as well. I also saw the watercolor beach cover up that Marietta referenced on the weekly exchange post. Can't think of anything else noteworthy. The palette is still peachy/orange/grey but with some softer oranges, brick red, adn grass green thrown in on a few items (tanks and cardis).
ReplyDeleteI thought new arrivals were supposed to be online this week too?
ReplyDeletefyi- i tried on the watercolor floral pencil skirt at the costa mesa/south coast plaza location. i didn't get it because the print was overwhelming for my petite frame (5'3"). i would recomend sizing down at least one size.
ReplyDeleteotherwise i was disappointed in the "new arrivals." nothing else really caught my eye in the 20 min i was in there.
I will be reading the blog and will love to hear about the new arrivals just for fun but I won't be buying. I am on a shopping ban for 2 months and I still have the month of April to go...I have not bought one single thing...I wish I was this good at dieting:) ha ha
ReplyDeleteCompared to some other stores J Crew color palette looks bland this summer, Gap, ON, Lands End, Martin & Osa has nice blues, greens and pinks, J Crew meh.
ReplyDeleteHow much is the watercolor floral pencil skirt?
ReplyDeleteJC PS said the new arrivals will be on line by the weekend.
ReplyDeletethe watercolor skirt is $88
ReplyDeleteI posted some pictures of a couple of new arrivals (some tees and a skirt) if anyone is interested
ReplyDeleteWhen will the new arrivals be online? I NEED to see them
ReplyDeleteI am excited to see the new arrivals...very little has interested me this spring. I've seen some of the stuff look great on other people, but nothing that has really wowed me for myself.
ReplyDeleteSome people NEED to go out and volunteer to help others in NEED. You NEVER NEED to see the new updates...you would just like to...
ReplyDeleteI saw Laura's reviews yesterday - the sequin-y top is so pretty!! And the skirt is way cute, but will, of course, be too short for me. Definitely check them out. I will be looking either Thurs or Fri and am curious, since the Mickey card is still going... Plus I need to return the rolling ruffles tank. I have seen it look cute on others, but it just doesn't work on me - the style or the color I pickedup.
ReplyDeleteI mentioned this in one of the posts from last night - the 17th % 5th b&m in NY has the watercolor floral pencil skirt (# 14864) $88, an adorable halter watercolor floral beach cover up (#15624), $69.50, crystal button cardigans, the beechwood and orange striped skirt, and ruffly tanks. I didn't see much else that caught my eye, except for a collection piece that was close to $200.... a navy blue top that had flowers on it, reminded me of the chiffon rosette tee, but this looks to be of more substance. If I remember correctly it was tagged at $195. I didn't look to see what it was made out of, maybe silk? Definitely new things out on the floor, but not a lot, unless this is just the beginning.
ReplyDelete17th & 5th also has the tees that Laura so kindly reviewed on her blog. I have to admit, when I saw them on the table I was not impressed, but I may have to give it a second look, since they looked great on Laura!
ReplyDeleteI saw the watercolor floral skirt too, and I was also disappointed. The colors were too bright and IMO were overwhelming - bright bubble gum pink. It was priced at $88. I would definitely size down; I tried it on just to see if the print would work on me (it didn't), and I needed a full size smaller than I normally take in JC pencil skirts. HTH someone!
ReplyDeleteanon@9:50 AM - It's a shopping website. If someone needs to see the new updates, then that's what they need. It's just a figure of speech. I'm gonna die if I don't get a Coke right now. Get it? Good.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the spelling/grammar/syntax troll is back. LOL.
ReplyDeleteIt's always comforting coming to JCA. Everyone I disagree with is a troll. At least that's what I keep telling myself. You too 11:53, eh?
ReplyDeleteI just stopped in the store in NYC. The watercolor skirt is selling like hot cakes. I got really upset in the store because they sold out of my size. Luckily, the crying worked because they are over-nighting it from another store. Now that is good customer service.
ReplyDeleteI am going to be so upset if they don't update the site soon.
I hit JC today to use my red card one last time. I used it on that beaded tee that Laura mentioned above. It comes in stone and a darker taupe-y color -- a beautiful neutral piece, but the beading makes it special.
ReplyDeleteThey also had lots of new tees with watercolor floral prints.
In red card news, the SA asked me to write my name "as it appears on your drivers license" on the back of the card so I could be checked the next time it's used. Never mind that I'd used it twice before, one of those times in that very same store. Funny, when I asked "is that a new policy?" the SA didn't seem to hear me.
I can't do florals, but I'm really hoping for another cute argyle for this summer. I'm a sucker for a cute argyle sweater.
ReplyDeleteI went to b&m El Segundo last Saturday to use my Red Card -- and like a bee to honey I got sucked into the front table with the new crystal button cardigans. For those who have seen them -- did you notice the crystal buttons are colored to match the cardigans?!?!? It's very subtle - like I almost thought the buttons were just reflecting off the sweater - but on closer examination and confirmation from SA - yes indeed the buttons are colored! I was wearing my light pink Saturday pants and gray necklace tee and promptly put on the pretty pinky one to "complete" my outfit. I actually had them remove the tags after I bought it, so I could wear it OUT OF THE STORE. Yes, I am a complete dork, but I thought you all would enjoy that! I will be getting more of those cardigans. They are SUPER cute.

Oh - and on the Red Card thing -- I had to BEG on the Red Phone to get the 25% off the part of my order that the store couldn't fill. Oh J Crew - don't make me beg!!!!! And yes they wrote my name on the card...

I same some of the new arrivals as well and overall, not impressed.
ReplyDeleteWatercolor Floral Skirt - definitely agree that the pink is very bright, and the pattern is very big and overwhelming. I would probably wear it with neutral tops to tone it down. I decided to pass on it, since I was not in love and I figured it was so bright that it really could only be worn the spring/summer months. Also, I think it's such a statement piece that it will be noticeable each time you wear it. I won't be able to get away with it to more than one graduation/shower/party etc.
Tried on the beaded tee in the washed stone (darker tan), and it was really pretty. I definitely would need to size up. It was tight in the shoulders. I like that it had a slight scoop and not a crew neck. However, at the price point and overall look, I passed on it for now. The stone color (lighter tan) was too pale for me. The beads kind of blended in to it.
There were some ring spun v neck and crew neck T's with a watercolor/handpainted print. The one I tried on was a white v neck with an aqua print. The colors were great for the summer, but not a fan. The bottom seam/hem was left unfinished, so it rolled up on me and seemed a bit messy. It is a fitted T, and TTS. I did not try on the crew neck versions, but they were white or washed stone with a very vibrant floral print with corals.
There were new capris, both with a 1 inch cuff and 100% cotton. One style was classic fit and the other was city fity. The classic fit had a rumpled texture to them, and I tried on in a brick red color. The city fit style I tried on in stone and this pale blue that a lot of men's pants come in. The rise and fit of both pants were the same, not sure what the difference really was other than a slight change in texture. However, I did not like either. They felt very stiff to me, and I much prefer the cafe capri and the cocktail capris, mostly due to the stretch. Also, I thought they were an odd length too. They seemed even a bit longer than the cafe capris (which I think are a fairly long capri), and seemed to cut my leg off. They felt like I was trying on a pair of petite or ankle length pants, when I should be wearing a regular.
I tried on a ring spun tank that came in a light pewter, white, and breeze/fresh mint. It was a good fit on top, but as someone mentioned previously, it had a la victoria ruffles vertically in a linen/cotton material that fanned out towards the bottom and puffed out a but. The flare/puff out was similar to the smocked tissue T from fall, but not as substantial. However, it was borderline unflattering...one of those tops that I thought people would wonder if I was pregnant. I would definitely size down in this one. It was priced at $29.50. I was tempted, but the final deciding factor was an already developed hole along the seam at the bottom where the care tag is stitched. And, this was brand new, just pulled from the stock room.
There was a linen pencil skirt that was ivory on top with some type of yellow and gray tie dye effect towards the bottom. This definitely did not appeal to me.
They had some wrinkled, metallic blouses with a ruffle on the front, but the wrinkled effect was too much for my liking.
There was another color added to the mix for some of the already existing pieces (chino shorts, cotton boyfriend cardigans), that seemed like a very vibrant tea rose or bright fuchsia. It somewhat matches the vibrant pinks in the watercolor skirt.
Some new perfect tank colors or colors that were brought back again, anyways.
There were some new jackie cardigan colors, washed stone and light petunia?(LPE) It was mix between violet and fucshia. I did buy these two colors.
HTH!
Went into my local store yesterday, and looks like previous posters covered all the new stuff. A big old ho-hum was my feeling. I'm a big slub fan, and I would have snapped up the new tank in a heartbeat except I hated the poplin placket cascading down from the pintucked placket. This mixture of fabrics is the reason I didn't go for the cottage dress. Too bad, I deeply liked the aqua color and the white for the tank, but I didn't love it, or even deeply like it, so at the store it stayed.
ReplyDeleteA note on the new strapless dress: that one looked like droop city, big time!!!
Ugggg, when will the site be updated? Im getting upset over this!
