Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I wish they would change their promo online. All of the items I want mysteriously disappeared in my size during the 40% off. Now they are back in stock, but I refuse to pay so much more. I'll have to wait and hope for a better promo next week.

    1. Bythelake you are so right. I hate the disappearing act they play with merchandise. Give us what we want during the discount promo and we will buy it. But don't play these silly little in stock out of stock games. Those items didn't just miraculously reappear, they were already there clogging up the overflowing warehouses.

  2. I agree.....I would even be okay with final sale because I now know my size etc.
But will wait for % off promo.......what a bummer for my weekend online shopping.. Carolyn

  3. This probably belongs in the reviews but can anyone comment on the quality of the cashmere sweaters, spherically the v-necks? Are they in store or just online? I am looking for a classic fit and these seem to be it- not overly long or oversized. And the price is right with the sale. I can budget for more because I want one to last 5+ years - any thoughts appreciated!

    1. Specifically-- not "spherically" :-)

    2. Muffin: I just got the collection v-neck cashmere sweater. The yarn feels soft and substantial and seems of good quality. I sure hope that it's not going to pill! The style is quite classic. The fit is slightly slouchy on me, and the sleeves and the body are a little longer than I would like (5'4"). It's a good look when I scrunch the hem up a bit. Also love the heather acorn color that I got. Bottom line: provided that it doesn't pill and holds up well, it's a great investment piece at the sale price, and will go with many things in my wardrobe. HTH!

    3. I purchased a lot of JCrew cashmere im the last 3 years. all exept one piece peeled. it is very inconsistent in quality, I am moving on to different brand.

    4. Greta & Professor- thank you both so much for your input. I might just stick with the merino v-necks as I've always had good luck with J Crew merino. I had also tried on Equipment cashmere and just didn't think it warranted the $300 price tag for how scratch it felt. Grrr. Really trying to do capsule wardrobe planning and need some good quality v-necks. Any other brand suggestions?

    5. Try Boden. I think its better quality cashmere than what J Crew offers now.

    6. I've been 'collecting' J Crew cashmere for years-it lasts. Yes, it pills a bit in areas that rub-under the arm-but you can pull them off. With dark colors it's not even noticeable. It's a lovely weight, dry cleans beautifully, and the colors! Some of my sweaters are 5 years old.

    7. Thanks for the information on longevity and I will check Boden out too.

  4. No stores near me, so I won't be going. I am still waiting on an order to arrive from the last promo, so I doubt I will place an order with the current one. However, there are a few things I'm contemplating at Madewell with the extra 30% off they are offering right now, so I may place an order there.

Btw, there were lots of new markdowns and new promo-priced items added to the sale section at Madewell this week, all of which are eligible for the extra 30% off. I've updated the Madewell Promo-Priced Items & Markdowns list with the newest additions: See the List Here. :)

  5. FYI - Interesting article from the Wall Street Journal about changing purchasing habits and the trend to avoid fast fashion by buying less, higher quality, items -

    1. Great article, although I would argue with the $900 average (certainly for me any way). I'm definitely trying for better quality, less stuff which probably means less Crew

    2. I agree with this article, I too am willing to pay more for quality items that will last.

    3. Yes, good read and I agree with what Muffin had to say.

    4. Apparently J Crew sales have been picking up so if this is the trend, they are considered by many to be in the higher quality items category, or it's just better inventory management. I'm not sure with all the back and forth on pricing and the crazy levels of markdowns at times that J Crew really has a handle on inventory, unless it was much worse -

  7. A review of the J. Crew Leather Loafers in Navy here, the Harper Fabric Flats here, and the Merino Wool V-Neck Cardigan here All of these items are currently 25% off. HTH! Happy weekend!

  8. My store has 20% off everything in the store and no minimum purchase. I think it just started today. I think this is ridiculous because there was stuff on promo just yesterday for 25% off and sale was additional 30% off and the website is offering some stuff for 25% off. Their promos make no sense to me. Not seeking and not finding anything for me this weekend. It looks like they need to move stuff but I just wish they would figure out that they need to mark it down and move it on. Not crazy about a lot of the stuff they have right now anyway and I am a J Crew fanatic.

    1. that's so irritating! I remember the last time it was 40 percent off sale, a couple of weeks ago, my store only had signs for 30 percent off sale, which was weird to me. why aren't the store and website promos syncing up anymore? annoying.

  9. I went into my local J Crew, everything full-priced, except third party merchandise was 25% off and sale extra 30%. That being said, not a thing I liked or even remotely wanted. The couple of items I wanted to see IRL, were disappointing, either color or style/fit. I also went into BR and same thing, one item I liked was polyester. So I will save some money and shop my closet.

    1. Sale at extra 30% and Everything (except 3rd party) 25%?? I wonder if this will be next week's promo after the one now ends. Waiting to buy a few items, but its not included on this promotion. Oh J.Crew...

    2. my store was offering the same. I picked up a few things to try, but a lot less than I anticipated.

  13. I was in the Palo Alto store. 25% off entire store (third party items excluded) and 30% off sale. I tried a few things--the rayon long blouse in the the army green (it has a weird shape in the front and made me look like I was wearing an apron). I liked the long army colored trench coat, but that is still $150 even with the percent off. I bought a scarf. Everything was very meh for me.

  14. I think I can finally say that I have no desire to visit JC, online or in-store, this weekend and may finally be over my JC obsession -- still a fan, but not an obsessive one...

Sad in that I used to really LOVE the whole JC shopping experience, but glad in that (1) I will have more time to spend on other things instead of checking the site daily (okay, more than daily); (2) I won't be an embarrassingly regular regular in my local stores; and (3) my closet, wallet, and husband will be very pleased. Glad definitely wins out.

Of course, there are still things I love at JC that I think JC does better than anyone else (which is pretty high praise): 100% cotton eyelet anything in summer, swimsuits, Liberty items, and winter coats and puffers.
