Madewell Promotion: Get Up to 30% Offf Your Purchase!

"Thanks!" to  many of you, including R (in this post), Silver Lining (in this post), as well as Liza (in this post), who shared the following email & promotion from J.Crew.

Madewell is offering 20% off purchases of $100+ and 30% off purchases of $200+ with promotional code WINWIN. This offer expires September 22, 2014. The fine print includes:

**Offer valid in Madewell stores and at madewell.com from September 18, 2014, 12:01am ET through September 22, 2014, 11:59pm ET. 20% discount valid on purchases of $100-$199.99 before shipping charges and taxes are added. 30% discount valid on purchases of $200 or more before shipping charges and taxes are added. In-store discount automatically applied at checkout. To redeem online, enter code WINWIN in the promo code box at checkout. Limit one promotional code per order. Terms of offer are subject to change.
Of course the Transport Totes are excluded! Of course, I had my eyes on them! ;) That exclusion aside, this is a great promotion to check out Madewell.

I am L-O-V-I-N-G Madewell. (Dare I say, I have been buying more from Madewell's current collection than my good old fave J.Crew... whoops!)

My latest recommendation from Madewell is the Coated Roadtrip Jacket (item A9951; $138.00). The pictures online really do not do it justice. This jacket is so beautiful in person that it is worth visiting the store to check it out. (My local Madewell store did an excellent job of featuring it on practically every mannequin in the store. It was just styled so beautifully!)

I took my normal size (size extra small) and it fits wonderfully. I have options on how to wear it: (1) If I want a more loose fit, I leave it as is. (2) If I want a more fitted look, I use the internal elastic draw string (so convenient!) Moreover, the interior lining is so preppy/beautiful with its blue/green plaid design (seen in the picture at the cuffs rolled up). Plus, it comes with a detachable hood... enough said!

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Any items from Madewell that you would recommend? If so, please share!

  1. Woot woot! I was very excited to see this promo and ordered the Sculptor cardigan, Archive boots in black, and green Assembly pullover. Even though they're on a long backorder, I may go back for the caramel Sidewalk Skimmers.

I've been loving MW a lot more than JC in 2014. With the exception of all the dropped shoulders at both stores, MW is just more wearable and fits in more with my lifestyle. I hope to visit a B&M next month during a trip to NYC.

Alexis, IMO the Transport Tote is one of those totally-worth-FP purchases. I use mine everyday.

    1. I agree Silver Lining about the Transport Tote, I love my Navy one! It is constructed beautifully. Loves it! :)

  2. Echoing silver_lining: Transport Tote almost never take promotion code. I got minis using the 15% off student/educator discount and had it monogrammed. I suggest going to the store to get it because the leather and coloring of each tote is a little different. It's better to check it in person, particularly if you want to get it monogrammed :-)

    1. Good tip. I've been waiting for the transport tote to go on sale for ages, and of course it never does. One of these days I'll finally bite the bullet and get it in store with my student discount.

    2. Engineer L -- I also noticed that some of the transport totes on display are a little stiff. You could also ask the SA to bring some new ones in the back and pick and choose the shade and feel that you like the most ;-)

    3. Totally agree! Each tote is "different". And check the inside, I notice that some totes have a bit of fading in there. Random, I know!

  3. I am definitely pleased to see this promotion, especially since my shopping cart has been loaded full for weeks waiting on one like this to come along. :)

  4. I did take advantage of this promotion. Ordered some sale jeans, the mini transport cross body, which was part of the promo, and the outbound jacket. I know everyone has raved about that jacket and at 30% discount worth a try. I ordered a Small since I am new to Madewell but have local stores if I need to exchange.

  5. I have been doing more shopping at Madewell lately (partly due to all the glowing reviews on this site).

I have the Transport Tote and adore it. I use it everyday and its a wonderful and functional bag. I love the Rowhouse sweater. I ordered it in the black, but any of the colors look great. Its an easy, casual, well made sweater with the perfect amount of polished slouch.

I also love, love the oversized button down shirt (size down). Its also got a perfectly "polished slouch" feel with a nice weight to it (not too heavy, but not flimsy at all. It has seams on the front and back that give it some nice shape.

Lastly, the Mira Heel is my "special occasion" shoe, but its fantastic. Its very comfortable for a heel and looks equally great with pants / jeans or a dress / skirt.

I'm tempted to use this promo to order some of the skinny, skinny jeans with this promo since I've heard nothing but good things about them.

    Madewell rocks! :)

    1. Hmmm, I just noticed that there's a lot of items that this promo does not apply to including denim, the Transport tote and many third party branded items.

OFFER NOT VALID ON JEANS; DENIM JACKETS AND VESTS; THE TRANSPORT TOTE (STYLES 53228, B2427, B3367, B1671, B2241); AND MERCHANDISE FROM ANY OF THE FOLLOWING THIRD-PARTY BRANDS: CHIMALA®, DR. MARTENS®, NSF®, PENFIELD®, RACHEL COMEY, SAUCONY®, SESSÙN™ AND VANS®.

    2. I think the jeans in the sale section are included though. I test-tried a few, and they all seemed eligible for the promo.

    3. They are, I bought 2 pairs on sale not final sale and got the discount

    4. Blakemdjohns, did you feel the sizing for the Rowhouse Sweater was tts? Or did you size down? Thanks!

    5. I did not size down. I ordered my regular size and it fits, but its a slouchy fit, which it is supposed to be. The arms fit nicely and its not too oversized. It doesn't overwhelm at all. Its just right.

  6. Bouncy prices! I got a catalog that had a $25 off coupon in it (any purchase over $100) and the Coated Roadtrip Jacket was marked down to $98 last weekend. Ordered a $7 pair of socks to push my order total over $100 and snagged the jacket and the socks for $86.

  7. Alexis! You are a bad influence! I was just going to look at that jacket because I don't need another green fatigue jacket, and then I saw that it is charcoal. Ordered, oops!

If anyone likes straight leg jeans, there are some sizes left in the Rail Straight in Oceanside wash in the sale section. These have good stretch, if you like that. I wore these a lot last winter.

    1. I think you are going to like the jacket Cate! I was debating between that and the Downtown Field Jacket from J.Crew in Black and it was clear the Madewell version was better (for me). It is on the thin side, but so was the new Downtown Field jacket. I also love the Madewell's jacket interior. So pretty! :)

  8. I decided to order the knotshine necklace (I've been eyeing it for a while), the skinny skinny jeans in pure white, and the texturework cardigan. Madewell's jeans are too expensive for me at full price, but I'm willing to experiment when they're cheap and not final sale.

  9. Hi! Has anyone tried the 'Cargo Workshirt in Blue Gingham' (item # b0272)? Curious as to what you thought of the style and sizing.....

  10. I mentioned a couple days ago that my Madewell shopping bag has been loaded full with almost $2000 worth of goodies. Of course I cannot get everything, so now I'm trying to prioritize in order to take advantage of this promo. I've shared some of what is in my shopping bag on my blog today, as well as my personal picks for other items on the website. See that post here. :)

  11. Adding to the Madewell LOVE! I am so excited about this promo... except it started about a day after I decided I need absolutely nothing new in my closet right now! :) but because these Madewell promos are so few and far between, I had to cave on a few things -- the Portland scarf, the Mira heel in back (have them in snake print and I heart them) and perfect tunic in camo (thanks for pointing that out Melissa :)).

  12. So I went to Madewell today because I've had my eye on the Berliner Satchel but wanted to see it IRL. It is gorgeous, exactly what I was looking for so I was going to buy that and a top but when the sales associate rang me up she didn't apply the 30%. When I asked about it, she said that leather wasn't included. I was pretty flustered and thought maybe Madewell had changed the terms of the promotion since yesterday, so I just cancelled the entire transaction and left everything there. Once I left the store however, I checked online and yup, Transport totes are excluded, but not the rest of the leather bags. I placed the order online. I didn't bother going back to the store because I was running late as it was. I'm kinda bummed because I have to wait for my bag now, but I am happy I was able to get it on sale :).

Regardless of this experience, I have a huge crush on Madewell in general right now. There are so many things that I love - Cargo Work Shirt in Denim, Oversized Flannel shirt in Bainbridge Plaid (love the colors in this one and it is so soft, but really huge, I would size down one), Texturework Sweater, Denim Downshift Top (so soft, and really cool looking, runs TTS but fitted), Quilted Crop Sweatshirt, the quilted baseball cap, really any of their tees (they are really well made), and the tortoise cuffs are really cool IRL as is the Ensign necklace. It was very difficult to restrain myself, lol!

  14. Hi ladies - part of my order was just delivered (shipped from a store the next state over!) so I thought I'd put up two quick reviews.

Assembly Pullover in Heather Marsh (b0273) - so cute. Fitted in the arms (but not 'skinny arm syndrome' and the body is a little more flowy, but I wouldn't call it boxy. My usual S fit great with room to layer. The color is a teal that leans a little more blue than what I was expecting from the website pic, but I still like it. Did not find it to be itchy.

Sculptor cardigan (a9472) - I was very curious to see this one, since I work from a freezing cold coffee shop many mornings a week I thought it would be nice and cozy. It is very thick and very big, but the "sleeves" are like, 1/2-3/4 length and stuck on the sweater in a dolman kind of way, so my arms didn't have a lot of freedom of movement. In addition, because it was so cozy I just wanted to pull the sleeves down to my wrists but it wasn't really meant to be worn that way so if I did pull them down I felt I was even more restricted in the arms. I do think that some of you ladies will love this and rock it - if it had real sleeves I would keep it because it's what I'm looking for - a sweater/blanket hybrid to keep the chill out.

    1. I looooove the Assembly Pullover! I love all the colors, but my favorites are the Hthr Marsh and the Hthr Aubergine. It might be tricky to wear a tee under it, because of the boatneck.

    * cargo workshirt in blue gingham - Drop shoulders. Thumbsdown.
    * sculptor cardigan - thumbsup
    * tweed front tweed - Just no. It didn't need to be done since J. Crew has done it. Twice. And it was cuter.
