"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Okay, two vents.

First, the Glen plaid cap sleeve dress is the cheapest looking thing I've seen in years. Check out the zipper in the back.

Second, it is quite concerning that J Crew continues to have really separate and sexist offerings for kids. The boys shirts show images and words about space and winning and cool animals, while the girls shirts have LOL or "precieuse" on them (in sparkles). It is a huge turnoff for my daughters and for me (with the credit card). I think J Crew is way behind on this stuff. There was an article in the Boston Globe recently about how Lands End has improved a lot on this front:

    1. Good point about the t-shirts, cousy, and thanks for the link to the article. I don't buy girls t-shirts w/words on them and now I know why. It's definitely the word choices I've subconciously been objecting to. Mini G would love a solar system t-shirt. So cute!

    2. You're right about that dress. Looks like F21, especially the disgusting poly/rayon fabric!

Agreed about the kids' choices! Super lame. The designers obviously don't think deeply about these things.

  2. Good point on the t-shirts! Although I have noticed that J Crew will sometimes cross-post items from the girls and boys sections (ahem, because I shop the sale sections of both...for meself...). I just wish there were more of it. I suppose then we might get a pink shirt that says 'rocket scientist' in sequins, but that actually sounds kinda cool...

  3. I miss the amount of posts we used to have here esp. weekends.
I miss alot of the bloggers who would post picks of outfits and reviews. I am aware we still have a famous few....but really only a few now...where did everyone go ?
Zara ? higher up maybe ?
I know Alexis is fab at keeping this blog up
When the Sept new merch came out we were all agast at the lastest style guide....and there was some discussion that many of us were "off J Crew" but I still love it ....only less.
Because I do love it I frequent this blog (daily) and check the sale section...
I think I have to take a break (as the sale sections 30% off and final sale has reduced me to being more resentful of The company....yes I guess I need a J crew intervention and need to stop stalking sale and move on....there are other stores >>>
    thanks for listening.

    1. You read my mind. Where are AJC & shopping with M? I still check here daily. Skipping the daily sale section checks. Can't put my finger on what changed. Maybe on the weekends we can just post what we are up to if there is no breaking news at the Crew?!

    2. What happened, I think, is that J.Crew is no long appealing to many of us who became fans around 2006-2009 when J.Crew was at its peak of style, quality, and overall fabulousness. Nowadays I can't even find a single thing to buy! It's really sad.

  4. I have several vents. 1. The no return policy on final sales sucks. Poor customer service. 2. Please stop using anorexic models. This promotes eating disorders in young girls

  5. Personally I do most of my clothes shopping now at Lululemon.

    1. Do you have a job where you can workout clothes all the time? That sounds amazing.

  6. Has anyone commented that they only include the fabric content in a select few of the item descriptions in the catalog? That's super annoying.

    1. Oops! I take that back. I guess I was just looking at the several that don't have fabric content listed..

  7. Good lord. Garment measurements. Please, please, please. If J. Crew insists on having such crazy sizing, the least they could do is include garment measurements on their so-called new and improved website. ESPECIALLY for the online-only items.

  8. I see you raised prices on the Factory side, J. Crew. I went thru a number of the items as I was going thru my Irl Pic Guide and thought I was imagining things or maybe I didn't record every exact price given different color offerings. Till I got to the seahorse cardigan. It was $32.99 and now $39.99. There's only one version of that. Busted.

    No bueno.
