Love that the cardholders at J.Crew are getting some love with this promotion. I am curious if stores will be running the same tiered promotion, or if they will offer 40% off to everyone...

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion at J.Crew? What J.Crew item are you hoping to pick up? Please share!

  1. A little sad! Just ordered around $200 last night and now cardholder discount is deeper!

    1. Caroline - request a price adjustment. If you don't want to call in, send an email.

    2. i think JC customer service is pretty amazing. I have purchased things on final sale and have gotten a price adjustment on them when finding out 1-2 days later those items were discounted further. Since your purchase probably hasn't even shipped yet, I can't imagine them not giving you a price adjustment!

    3. I didn't realize mine were not final sale until I called, so no price adjustment! Thanks for the comments though :)

  2. Sigh - I first read Alexis' last paragraph about the tiered promotion as the tired promotion. I just wish J Crew was offering stuff that I want to buy.

  3. Thanks for the mention, Alexis! :)

As I shared yesterday evening, there were a lot of new markdowns yesterday, and now there are a ton of new promo-priced items added today...lots of cashmere pieces, too. I've updated the J.Crew Promo-Priced Items & Markdowns list with all of the latest additions. See the List Here.

  4. Just when I thought I was finished ordering online. Now they've added promotional items that you can apply the 40% cardholder to....

I had to email customer service to get a price adjustment on a Boiled Wool Zip sweater in Lavender, I ordered it Tuesday. I hope they honor my request.

Planning on buying the Cashmere Boyfriend Sweater in Heather Acorn. Priced at 129. after 40%....I can't pass that up.

I hope these promos last through mid October...my wallet needs a rest. :P

  5. Gosh, so glad I ordered the Angie dress last night! Today it's Final Sale, at the same price, and I wouldn't risk it given my sketchy record with JC dresses' fit.

  6. Final Sale has got to go! Items that I put in my cart yesterday were not marked Final Sale and today they are. First markdown and already final sale? No thanks. There is absolutely no consistency in sizing and I'm not getting stuck with clothes I can't wear.

    1. I'm right there with you. Several things I'd like to try, but not as final sale. Ugh.

  7. Thinking abouy a double serge wool pencil skirt. Last one I bought was in 2012. Has the sizing changed? I had to size down in 2012. Thanks

    1. I"m not sure if it's changed or if it's just less reliable. I have several No. 2 double serge wool pencils from 2011-13, all the same size, all the same measurements. But the new navy version that came out this fall? I've now ordered three, all still the same size but measurements varying by as much as 2" in the hips and/or waist. Finally did get one, though, that matches the 2011-2013 versions.

I gave up on the No. 2 pencils in super 120s for this very reason. Got tired of ordering and reordering b/c measurements were all over the place. Sigh.

    2. Flower Power - I can't comment on sizing of this fall's #2's, but I have seven #2's from 2011 to this summer, all the same fit with little variation. (Cobalt - what a drag about the variation you've experienced - thanks for reporting.)

I may buy the citron double serge wool #2, but each year I wait until the October sale because the price will fall to less than $50. All colors are available in all sizes at the moment, so the risk in waiting is very small unless you need it ASAP.

    3. I meant chartreuse, not citron!

  8. I've never owned a Tippi sweater. I'm thinking of getting one during this sale, and I know there are lots of Tippi enthusiasts out there. Can you tell me if it holds up well and if it pills at all? TIA!

  9. Greta -

Count me in as a major Tippi fan (yes, I'm wearing one right now). I've got many. No pills at all. But I've had mixed results with washing them, even on gentle cycle. I mostly handwash and occasionally dry clean.

    1. Thank you cousy! Glad to hear the positive report. I think I can handle hand washing. Seems like a great laying piece, and the price is good right now!

    2. Greta - one piece of purchasing advice - light colors can be a bit transparent IMO. I've had better luck with the medium and darker shades.

    3. There was a discussion about Tippis a while back, on this blog. They are wonderful IMHO. Great colors, perfect weight for layering, even like the 3/4 sleeves. I have an embarrassing number of them, as well as a couple of Charleys from Factory.

I have 10 tippis and have handwashed all of them in Laundress Cashmere wash. It's a wonderful staple and I layer mine all the time. This piece goes with almost anything you can think of wearing. It always looks polished with a button down, IMHO.

    5. Odd gal out. I don't like them. I have only had one (sized down one from my normal Crew size) It was alight color and after washing (carefully) I had to iron it ! I have also never liked the 3/4 sleeve ..they bothered me....

    6. Unknown, I did hand-wash cycle on front loader with mine and it shrunk and was hopelessly wrinkled afterwards. I tried to iron it but it didn't work. I'd have taken it to the dry cleaner at that point if it hadn't shrunk. I would definitely not try that method again. Maybe real hand-washing works better. Personally, I'd stick with dry cleaning.

    7. I have a dozen Tippi's--as well as a couple of "Charley" sweaters from J.Crew Factory. All are fantastic!!! I have two sizes. L for the days when I want to layer with a shirt underneath, and M for the days that I just want a more simple look. I hope J. Crew never, ever discontinues the Tippi. I wash on low cycle and air dry. Never had an issue with pilling nor have I had any shrinkage issues. Hope this helps!

    8. I just recently jumped on the Tippi band wagon. I love them, too. I agree about the sizing. I buy my usual knit and tee size when I want to wear the sweater alone, but would size up to layer a button down under it.
I have hand washed mine in Laundress and air dried them and haven't had any problems with shrinkage. So far, no pills, but I haven't had them for very long. HTH!

    9. I am a big Tippi fan too! No pilling issues. I mostly buy them in the smaller of the sizes I wear at J.Crew as I like them as a layering piece under a blazer or on their own as a transitional season sweater. I typically where a tanktop under them--in response to Cousy's comment above about the lighter sizes being transparent, I find that a tank in a similar color or in skin tone works well.

    10. Thank you so much everyone for your reviews of Tippi! I think I'll be safe and hand wash mine.

  10. I ordered and received the color block zip sweater yesterday...with the 40%, it would have been $20 less. Just did Live Chat, and no questions asked, the Rep gave me the credit. Great customer service!

  11. I just called for a price adjustment on the Puffer Vest that went on promo for 40% today and the rep was not able to assist, saying that item is not on promo. Obviously it is since it is on the website. I had to repurchase the vest and will return the other one! Vest is $76.80 with card 40%, almost a $30 difference. Emailed customer service about this to adjust for free shipping. Ridiculous!

  12. I bit on this one because the Pixie pants were finally discounted and included in the 30% off (it says they're 25% off on the page, but 30% definitely came off the price). They were ~$62 with the promo. Hopefully that's a good price for them! I ordered two sizes in those, and I also got the cotton cropped sweater in navy. Sweater is final sale so I'm hoping it works. I'm going to be upset if the promotion is even better next weekend, but I'm planning on asking for a price adjustment if it does get better.
