J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including silver lining (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, as did the J.Crew Collection (click here).

The AUGUST catalog (click here to view) is still up. However, the latest SEPTEMBER catalog is not. As mentioned by several JCAs, J.Crew posted several images of the newest catalog over at Pinterest (click here to view).

Honestly, I did not even realize there were new arrivals until J.Crew sent an email this morning. ;)

Also, it is super hot and humid where I live. Thinking about Fall clothes is the farthest thing from my mind right now. With that said, I am loving the Harper Flats below.

 Collection Harper Calf Hair Flat
Harper Printed Flat in Navy Red
Harper Printed Flat in White Black Cabernet

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. The two things I wanted in the new rollout, which are offered as pre-orders, are supposedly "Sold Out." I hate when they do that! Grrrrrr!

  2. No matchstick cords this year? I am sad.

    1. I love Matchstick cords, too, and always look forward to adding new colors to my collection every year.
Does the Reid cord, perhaps, replace the Matchtstick cords? Has anyone tried the Reid cords?

    2. Saw the Andie cords online; unfortunately the Andie pants did not work for me at all so I'm sure it will be the same fit for the corduroys. Have not seen the Reid cords in store. Maybe I'll order a pair to try out. It's kind of a pain that the stores aren't carrying a lot of basics.

    3. They seem to be phasing out the Matchsticks in favor of the higher rise denim. But maybe it's just too early for them to have cords yet. Keep checking Factory too, they usually have their version of Matchstick cords.

    4. I'm hoping they'll bring back trouser cords.

    5. I love Matchsticks too. They fit me really well. The SA I talked to today said they seem to be dunzos. They didn't have any cords in store today. Just denim denim denim. I tried on a pair, but they were so uncomf. I am not a fan of J. Crew denim.

  3. It's a sad day when JCrew has new arrivals, and there are only 4 comments talking about it. Not that this was a huge upload, but still. No excitement from me either. :-(

  4. Blogger just ate my comment. Argh.

I believe I said I love the silhouette of the Nili Lotan sweater. I don't usually like oversize but that one appeals to me. I also love the Rosie heels. I won't buy either since I don't need that kind of sweater in my climate and the heels are much too high for me. A few things to love, but not to order.

  5. What's up with the Apiece Apart Livia Blanket Skirt? For $410, I like to be able to sit down - or walk.

(Alexis - I nominate this for questionable item of the week)

    1. Ha, Ha. I just about lost it laughing over the "impeccable tailoring" copy on that questionable item. It looks like the model decided to wrap herself in a rather ugly towel.

  6. Kind of a nonevent from what I've seen, the lack of comments and the few things written here.

    Are we all 'crewed out?

    1. I'm in agreement with Alexis - it has been in the high 80's and really muggy this week and I can't even entertain the idea of anything heavier than a tee shirt!

    2. It's boiling hot and humid in New York right now. There's no way I'd even contemplate trying on a sweater or coat right now... and I'm also feeling 'crewed out.

  7. I love how the Collection pieces are styled. It is styled way better than the Style Guide. I know I can't wear some of the pieces since Collection doesn't offer petite, all the layering will make me look frumpy. The pieces are just nice to look at. :)

I am intrigued by that forest green blouse with pale pink flowers; would love to see it in person. The Herringbone coat is divine, but not the price. The two-tone felt and leather loafers are cool. And I also like the cape..pretty neat!

What's also cool is how they styled the clothes on their section; What's New, Denim?

I was hoping that they'll offer a nice camel coat, like in Wool Melton, or last Fall season's Sabrina.

  8. I probably haven't been around the JCA community long enough to recognize if this lull or inactivity is from a collective "crewed out" experience or if it is part of a cycle. For me personally, I would say the current malaise is largely a result of the depressing feeling of visiting the jcrew website. I recognize that they are not the only retail clothing manufacturer who has gotten caught with far too much inventory, but there has to be a better way of managing it than letting items sit in the sale section for the rest of eternity. There has to be some time limit. I don't know if the magic number is 4 months, six months or whatever. I do know that looking at the sale section hovering at about 2000 items makes me not want to even begin to look through it. When you find items you have sitting in your closet languishing month after month, you are less likely to want to wear it or purchase more items which are likely similar. And I love a sale. I just feel like they Jcrew needs to take the hit and move on before all of the joy is gone and I become less interested in the site and the store. I have not given up yet but they need to hurry.

    1. Hi Teacups - I do think that it is a bit cyclical. Fall is the favorite season for a lot of JCAs (that have voiced their opinion) and after the more drab summer rollouts, a bunch of JCAs have mentioned that they would be waiting on fall. I don't know if it hasn't met people's expectations or what. Yeah, it's all 'on trend', but they also did all of this last September: sporty, camo, leather, colorblocking. The 'new' stuff (pinstripes/menswear) doesn't do anything for me personally. The dropped shoulder seams are the worst and I've been able to cull my wishlist extensively because of them (MW is has a lot of them as well).

Personally, for me the clothes are photographed nicely but just don't live up IRL - and this is not limited to JC. Everything's cheaper fabrics, cost-cutting construction (the dropped shoulders have to be a symptom of this... right?), and the design elements, although trendy, just don't make me feel pretty. I like the pieces already in my closet better than the ones in the stores... and in a few months, I'll just be throwing a big coat on over all of it anyway. ;)

  9. OT: Saw this from Style.com. Tom Mora head of J.Crew Women's revealed a sketch from J.Crew's Spring 2015 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. (They are showing on Sept 9)

    1. I looked. I am not encouraged. Truly I think there is no hope for Tom Mora as a women's designer. Unless of course the creation is made up in lovely washed pure silk with silk lining, French seams, hand embroidery and silk appliqué work.

    2. wellfedfred, I agree completely. It is beyond ridiculous. I've been dying for Frank Muytjens, the menswear director, to take over. The men's collection is so far superior to the women's: cohesive design, beautiful fabrics, not-stupid styling. I know the men's collection does really well, but I'll bet he could totally transform women's, plus women spend more.

  10. http://m.racked.com/archives/2014/02/11/j-crew-fall-2014.php

Dropped waists, cropped oversized straight cut pants, blocky silhouettes, greasy slicked back hair...inspiration from 20s Berlin lady with a monocle? It's like they're not even waiting for us to make a joke, because they made it already.
