  1. I ordered the Skinny Skinny crop jeans (I'm 5'2", so they won't be cropped on me). Its my first foray into Madewell denim. They are not coming up as final sale, so if I don't like them, hopefully I can return them. They came to ~$80 after the discount.

I was very tempted by the Silk Gardengate dress, but its similar to the Skyscape Dress is Diamond Abstract, which I have and love. The Gardengate dress is silk and the Skyscrape dress is rayon. Hard to justify both, even at the sale prices.

  3. Tried on the black & blue "Fortune" dress in the store yesterday, was not sure about it until then. I'm 5'10" and worried it would be too short even at 38", but luckily it was just "regular" length - hits above the knees, but not inappropriately so. The size in the store was an 8, and I'm usually a 12 in Madewell dresses; I could not zip it up (wasn't expecting to), but it fit everywhere else. I ordered a size down from the website and am hoping to make it transition into fall with tights and booties! Same price in store and online; really glad about this extra discount.

  4. Just got back from the store and I can confirm that the extra30%off is going on in stores as well. I had a bunch of returns and an exchange of the skinny skinny jean in rip and repair to a size smaller than what I usually wear. I recently got the skinny skinny crop in tempest wash as well, and that one fit perfectly in my usual size. Madewell has really impressed me with their jeans...I am a jean snob, and I never liked their jeans until I tried the skinny crop this year. I am jaw dropping impressed. The fit and quality is now up there with the premium brands. Well done, Madewell! I do own quite a few pairs of J.Crew denim as well, but I am loving Madewell more. Highly recommend.

By the way, I am a long time reader, but this is my first time commenting. I love your blog Alexis....can't thank you enough for creating such a great place for all of us.

  5. Just received my shipment from the last Madewell tiered discount promo. Like blakemjohns and jeanbug, I am a new madewell denim customer, so here are my reviews.
Skinny skinny crop jean in mist, I ordered in 28 and it fits well, a little big but for reference I am 5'1" and usually 27 in J Crew toothpick. I like the length as a shortie hits right at ankle
Skinny skinny jean in madewell wash, got in 27. Also a good fit, a little long but that's usually an issue for me even though these are ankle.
They are definitely higher waisted than the toothpick but not in a bad way at all, I think this will eliminate any muffin top on me.
Neither were final sale and on,y 34.99 each, so will probably keep both pairs.

Another purchase was the much loved Outbound Jacket. I had ordered a Small but exchanged for an XS and it fits much better.

    1. Just wanted to add an update on Madewell denim and sizing. I ended up going to Madewell on Saturday and trying on a size 26 in the Skinny Skinny crop jeans and that is the perfect size for me. So I did return both the 27 and the 28 even though they were great deals. So that is a size down for me at Madewell compared to my 27 in Toothpick at J Crew. HTH someone who is looking for info on sizing.

  7. Also, the Coated Roadtrip Jacket that Alexis recommended last week is on promo for $129.50, and is eligible for the extra 30% off. I ordered it with the last promo and emailed my VPS today to get a price adjustment since it's a little bit cheaper now. Really looking forward to receiving it! Thanks for letting us know it's another good one, Alexis! :)

    1. I hope you like it! :) The jacket is on the thin side, but very nice. I wore it yesterday in 60/70 degree weather and it was perfect.

    2. This one didn't work out for me. I didn't care for the coating, and I thought the coat ran small and short. The size that fit me great in the Outbound jacket wasn't a good fit in the Coated Roadtrip jacket. It just wasn't what I need - If it's wet out, I need a more serious raincoat. The weight is no warmer than the Outbound jacket, IMO, so it wasn't a need in that area either. Mine's going back. The lining is cute, though. Just not a good fit for me all around.

    3. Thanks Alexis! :)

cate - you must get your orders very quickly! Mine isn't due to arrive until next Tuesday. Seems like it takes forever to get packages here.

    4. Melissa, that was pretty fast. I didn't pay attention to the return address. It's possible it came from a store?

  8. As silver_lining mentioned earlier this week, Madewell added new arrivals to their website...lots to love again, too. I've shared my new arrival picks in this post. :)

  11. Over on Madewell Simplified today I'm discussing Madewell's Head of Design: Somsack Sikhounmuong.

Today is also the last day of the Madewell Extra 30% Off promo. The Promo-Priced Items & Markdowns list for Madewell is also posted on the blog.

Also, the Coated Roadtrip Jacket that Alexis recommended is on promo in the stores for $98.50 before the extra 30% off. If you purchased one online, it's worth contacting CS or your VPS to see if they will give you a price match and price adjustment on your order.

    1. You can also ask them to price match if you haven't yet placed an order but want to give the jacket a try.
