Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SPRING sale, or to see some new SPRING arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  2. I have a plan to visit the Factory for the 50% off storewide. It says you need to use the email, so be sure to print it or have your cell phone handy.

    2. My Factory outlet is having the 50% off storewide - no coupon needed. If in doubt, call them.

  3. Probably not, unless I have a return. I try to go during the week if I can because it's less crowded.

  4. Spotted at Fifth Avenue (NYC) yesterday two schoolboy blazers in June Meadow (a 00 and, I think a 8 or 10). They had the Martina wedges in apricot mist in all the sizes if anyone is looking for those.

  5. I'm popping in today I think, and will be stopping at the Factory store this weekend. Will try to get some reviews done there, as there are new arrivals that look promising.

I just posted a review of the Punk Flower Swoop Dress today.

  6. I'll be in NYC Saturday and Sunday, so I definitely intend to pop into at least one J Crew store!

  7. Definitely not since I already done enough damage. I got the swoop topin punk floral and I have an order for shoes and pants coming today. The top is great, I reviewed it HERE.

    1. I love this top, but I don't like the cut-out. I think it's limiting in the usefulness of the top. Looks great on you!

    2. Ikwym but you may look at it this way: while it reduces your ability to wear it to some conservative events it increases possibilities for wearing it somewhere where you want a little spice or surprise and it saves it from being too granny approved which is always a danger with big florals. This might be because I am too close to granny age and I cannot count on my own youthfulness to offset it anymore :)

      Delete
    3. You'd have to have a very conservative lifestyle to find that top risqué! Unless I'm missing something? The back is lovely....

      Delete
    4. @ajc, I hear ya on the grandma thing, lol! Being in my 40's, it doesn't feel as far away as I'd like it to be!!

@ ruth, It's not so much it being risque, but I find it makes it more "dressy" imo. I don't work much, but I think the opening would make it not the best option for a work setting. Plus, I frequently get cold in the summer when I'm in restaurants, stores, etc... and I think that opening in the back will make me feel colder. Personally, I don't think the opening adds much of anything, but does take away. I have longer hair, so probably most of the opening would be covered anyway. But in general, I'm not a "cut-out opening on clothing" fan anyway. I know a lot of people here think it's a fun detail. Just not my taste.

    5. @Jruby 18 - I agree with you. Loved the fabric, print, definitely work appropriate from the front...and then saw the cut out.

Honestly felt like JCrew meshed two different ideas together on this shirt in an effort to play on the "Punk Floral" theme - wait, just thought about it...it's like business in the front, party in the back!

Anyway, it would be fine for ladies-who-lunch functions, but does limit its uses for daily life. I don't always want to wear a blazer/cardigan if I wear this to work and my workplace is definitely not cut-out friendly.

Side note, agree with people who've reviewed this; shirt is cut large so size down unless you are large chested.

    1. I tried it on yesterday and it's really cute! But I'm definitely waiting this one out for sale. I remember last year's version got marked way down and there were plenty left at the lower price. The fit is a little strange, but I can live with it. I tried a 6 and it was loose in the body but perfect under the arms/across the chest. The 4 looked perfect through the body, but was *a little* tight under the arms. Not horribly so, but still. I'd say if you're larger chested (I'm not, lol!), it might not work for you.

      Delete
    2. Thanks!! I'm not larger chested so I should be ok!

      Delete
    3. I tried it on and found it a little too much like a little girl's top, like a cropped pinafore. I think it might be too young for me. But the quality is good - the linen is nice and smooth and it would be a dream to wear in hot weather. I also found that it ran true to size (i.e. don't size down) and because of the seam that runs across the top of the bust, it is slightly snug through the chest area.

      Delete
    4. I tried it too and agree with Louise, the seam cut through my chest and it was a bit uncomfortable (for reference I am a 34 C) but it was def. TTS so it really depends on your bra size.

      Delete
    5. I tried it on in size 8 and could have worn it but the horizontal seam cut across the chest a bit, like others said. It was more how it felt than how it looked. I may try it in a size 10, which I prefer anyway for the shoulders, and maybe then the seam problem would be resolved.

  9. I'll definitely be hitting up factory.

Has anyone tried the factory Chelsea chino? Looks like they are online only, which blows. I am wondering if they are possibly a reincarnation of the classic cafe capri! The description sounds like it, but then they look a little tapered in the photo.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yeah, I might check out the Factory store too. I've been really impressed with them lately.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Hi! Can someone please post the factory email coupon? Thank you!

    1. Unknown - I don't think you need it. When I walked in to Pleasant Prairie today a SA handed me a "coupon" that said 50% off everything, and there was signage all over the place saying the same thing.

      Delete
    2. Unknown - You definitely don't need the factory coupon for 50% off. They will scan one for you at the register if you're not given one when you walk in. Promo can't be combined w/other coupons, i.e. the outlet coupon.

  15. For the hawaian print lovers, the Fifth Avenue store has received shorts in that print (not online yet, I think). They are linen and totally adorable. They felt longer on than the 3" ones but not as long as 5" so maybe they are 4"? Very, very cute. They are $69.50, $52.50 with the promo. Also they had swimwear (only store in the city with Prince, I was told).

  16. Did the Lace-Stripe dress disappear from the web site? I ordered it to try on and it is really beautiful (polyester lining, though). Unfortunately, it is short. If I were 20 years younger, I'd wear it as is, and it actually looks great, but I wouldn't leave the house in it lol. I'm debating trying the Daisy Lace Mini skirt. I wonder if they are the same material/s? I'd seriously like to combine the two to make a wearable garment! (J. crew could you just make your skirts and dresses longer please!). I may have to return the dress but I will hate to do it.

I don't remember seeing these reviewed anywhere, but I just received the Maribeth Espadrilles (in Flax). They fit great in my usual size 8 and are a go-with-anything kind of shoe. Haven't worn them out yet but they seem really comfortable.

  17. I went to my local store and got the Lodden Paisley Peasant Top for $39.99 - 25% discount and the June's Meadow Floral Perfect Shirt for $69.99 - 25%. I know there isn't much love for the peasant top but I really liked it, it hides a lot of midsection flaws and will be very comfortable for summers in Georgia when the heat is unbearable. I looked at the Punk Floral print stuff, I really like the dress, just debating on where I could really wear it.

  18. The Punk Floral items were virtually sold out in my store this afternoon - they literally had two dresses left.

It really is a fresh, lovely, wearable print. I don't think it reads "grandma" at all.

    1. I bought the necklace and bracelet today in the store. I love them both and think they are going to work with so many things. Let me know if you have a specific question about it. For what its worth my store only had one bracelet left and said both the necklace and bracelet have been very popular. I did also receive the silk-wool punk floral skirt in the mail today and love it. I tried both the 2 and 4 and the 2 (my normal jcrew pencil skirt size)worked best. I love it. The colors are vibrant and the quality of the material is beautiful. I did see the punk floral short sleeve blouse and dress in the store today and personally know I wont get much wear out of either one. I did end up ordering the collection punk floral blouse today and look forward trying it out with the skirt but think I could also wear it with many other bottoms.

    2. Kms423, may I ask what your height is? I'm 5'1" and tried the punk floral skirt in 00 today and it was very voluminous on me. I'm wondering if its not meant for a petite frame. Also, the material in the front center was sticking out at an angle. I do love the pattern and material.

      Delete
    3. Thanks for the review KMS, I'm thinking I'm going to get it!

      Delete
    4. Hi Liza,

I'm 5'1" too! I agree that it does have volume to it and I think it is because it is shorter than for example the collection flame floral skirt is. I actually thought it was a good length for me. If I were much taller I would have thought it too short. Because it does have some fullness I am going to try fitted tops with it.. a chambray maybe and I'm hoping for the matching button down blouse to work. I haven't tried a tippi yet but I will. I am a size 2 in this so I have a larger waist than you. I wonder if your volume issue might have more to do with your smaller waist vs your height?? I hope that info helps.

    7. I tried it too and found it very voluminous/pouffy too (I am 5'2"). I agree they should have made a midi or at least knee-length in this one to balance out the volume. My regular 0 was the right size, I wouldn't have sized up in this one. On the other side it is very swirly/fun and tbe fabric is very substantial so I wouldn't say it is a total pass.
Susan, you can try to call the store on Madison at 65th, if you are looking for one.

I remember seeing this online a long time ago when it first came out, and then "poof" it was gone. $118 was a bit steep, but I was able to get it for 20% because my mom opened a J. Crew card. I agree that it is a bit short, but I am only 5'1. I can get away with wearing it with a belt, and it looked really nice with a tan belt and matching boots, plus grey tights. :o) At $79.00 plus additional 25%/30% off, it becomes a good catch!

  29. Forewarning on the butterfly merino tippi: order two if you're buying online. The butterflies are woven into and not printed on the fabric, however I saw a few that were poorly done. The yarn around the edges of the butterflies were stretched out and clearly visible, making the shirt look like a beginner knitter worked on it.

  32. I bought way too much today...my store added a huge amount to the sale section..and I couldn't pass up some of the newer stuff.

I asked the SA about the catalogs and why I seemed to stop getting them. I'm not sure how accurate this is...but she said you have to spend $300 online (in store doesn't count)...and then will get a catalog the next month. If you spent $300 in Jan, you would get the next catalog...but if you didn't spend it in March...you would miss out on the next one. This actually seems to be inline with how I receive them based on spending.

Sometimes my husband buys things for me...and then he ends up getting the next one and I don't. Seems very strange that they are that calculating about how much you spend and "rewarding" you with a catalog.

I picked up one in the store...seems much easier.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That can't be right (not saying you're wrong, reaganflowers; it just doesn't make sense). I'll go months without spending anything there, and the months I do spend are usually under $300. I regularly get catalogs. Weird explanation.

  33. I just got back from the outlets and OMG it was crazy! I hadn't been in over a year so I figured I would go check the 50% off sale out. I got there right after they opened and their were already 2 dozen people in line to check out and almost that many people waiting for dressing rooms! And when I walked by when I was leaving their was a line just to get into the store! I don't know if it's because I am older now or that I have a toddler but I just don't have the patience for that kind of shopping. I didn't want or need anything that badly!

    1. Hi, Cate,

I don't think you're delusional. I was skeptical before I tried them on, but on the foot, they were just so cute. Classic but with enough of a twist to make them a little out of the ordinary. The stitching looked of high quality and the color scheme is great. They fit my regular shoe size (71/2), but they were really tight at first. But after walking in them for a couple minutes, they started to give. Hope this helps! If you'd like pics, let me know!

  42. Maybe someone already mentioned this, but the liberty tresco floral toothpicks just went on sale for $89.99. This is a great print, and I got the shirt early on at FP less the 20% promotion, and love it. I didn't want to get the pants for more than $100 b/c it's LOUD and I didn't think I'd get too many wears out of it, so I'm glad I waited. Limited sizes online now, but still lots in my local B&Ms.

As for fit, IMO, these run small. I feel like the toothpicks ran small this season overall and I sized up.

  45. I ordered WAY too much during this promo. Here's what I'm keeping:

Purple poppy t-shirt: Boxy fit and a little baggy in my usual XS, but looks cute tucked into a skirt.

Tippi sweater in heather turquoise: Great color for spring. Fits TTS and the sleeves seem to have a tiny bit more room than the other solid Tippis, which I love.

Tippi in stripe monarch (citrus sky ivory): Feels bigger than the other Tippis but not enough to size down. REALLY soft and comfy. Love it.

Tippi in graphic floral: Sizing seems the same as the butterfly one. This is probably my favorite purchase. Just wish I'd had it a couple of months ago when the weather was cooler!

Ponte Swing Dress in Black: I bought this in papaya when it first came out but returned it. The 2 fit perfectly everywhere but the shoulders/chest and the 4 was too big everywhere else. I re-ordered in black and the 2 fits much better in the shoulders.

Lightweight washed chambray dress: SO soft and comfy. The shoulders are a little tight in the XS, but the Small was too big overall. I kept the XS and am surprised by how much I love it.

Linen City Mini (flax and navy): Love these skirts. Got the same size I get in the wool city minis. The length is perfect and machine washable is always good.

My last order (for a LONG time) is on its way and includes the Scalloped Shorts, Double Crepe Skirt, Peplum top, Schoolboy Blazer in Chambray, and Drawstring Tunic. I kind of hope some of that stuff doesn't work...

  49. Had to pick up a few things with this wonderful promo - thanks so much to all of the fabulous JCA's who help those of us who do not live near a B&M by writing reviews and posting IRL pics! I'm getting the tortoise flower necklace and the monarch tippi based on recommendations here and a couple of basics.
