J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  4. I reviewed the matchstick in old glory wash yesterday. I really love them. But, they are too big (anyone interested in a pair in size 30 tall? ha!)

    1. Hi maqsad, $30 incl. shipping. If that seems reasonable! I wore them once.

  5. Crystal Sparkle Necklace (item # 47746). It is out of stock right now, but it seems to pop back a lot in sale. I saw it for $89 online this morning, and 30% off of that would be a great deal (I wish I got that deal!). This is one of the prettiest J. Crew necklaces I've seen in a while. It looks a lot nicer than the photo shows. If you look at it from the side, there are small amber crystals around each setting of the larger gray-ish stones. The color of the gray-ish stones is a really pretty neutral and looks good with a lot of different colors.

  6. Lillian Suede Low Wedges - I first ordered my 'usual' size in JC shoes but found them too big in the footbed (longish) so I ordered half size down. This has def. helped as the footbed fits much better now. I know we've had discussions about these shoes before so I'll add my 2 cents and agree with those who said to size down. (Cate, I think you were wondering about sizing down.)

Exploded Umbrella Tee (Cote D'azur tee) - I took my normal size in tees and it fit well although I am smaller up top. I think it would be too tight in that size if I was chesty. It has a slimmer fit and is longish which I like. (For reference, I had to size down in the Peony tee and found that one to be shorter and boxy.) It is def. very sheer which is noticeable in the back. I will wear a tank underneath as I really could see my nude bra.

    1. Thanks jan! I am waiting on a back-ordered smaller size in the Lillian wedges. I'm glad to know the half size down was enough to make a difference.

I've decided I like a size up in the linen tees this year, partly because some of them are so sheer and partly because I prefer a slouchier fit in linen. I went up a size in the Umbrella tee.

  8. Absolutely in love with the Amie Maxidress in Stripe. I wore it again and again while on vacation and its so comfy and looks amazing and carefree!! See me wearing the dress in Maui in these pics here :)

Will have more reviews coming later today for the
Box-pleated crepe skirt, Collection tuxedo pencil skirt and Cropped matchstick jean in thistle print
    and
Stripe cotton-silk popover that I grabbed on popback

  9. Also, I reviewed the linen cap-sleeve dress here.

  10. Double-breasted schoolboy blazer in navy: I ordered this based on positive reviews from other JCAs, even tho regular schoolboys tend to be a bit tight in the shoulders and wide in the torso on me. Turns out that the double-breasted version is nearly 1” wider across the shoulders and tapers to 1” narrower at the bottom hem, for a very flattering and comfortable fit. The online promo price of $198 plus another 25/30% off is pretty reasonable for a 100% wool blazer.

An older purchase, but one that pops back on occasion in the sale section: The painter elbow-sleeve boatneck tee in indigo runs TTS and, given the dark color, pairs well with pencil skirts or other office attire as well as more casual bottoms. The nautical stripe version is nice but to me it’s definitely a casual top.

  11. Hi-- this is an older item-- but can anyone tell me the fit on the high waisted skinnies? I wear a 25 in toothpick -- there is a pair of 24s of the high waist skinny in night owl -- not sure if that would work. thanks so much!!

    1. Conster, I thought the high waisted skinnies ran smaller than the toothpicks. I could not comfortably wear my toothpick size in those.

my days of squishing into too tight jeans are over! :)

  13. For those that missed out on the Coral Rosette necklace, Groop Dealz has a pretty close version of it for $19.99, in seven colors including coral. I own the JC one and just ordered one in mint!

    1. Marietta, the turquoise looks like the perfect shade of turquoise that has thus far eluded me. I have been wanting some sort of turq statement necklace forever. I have the bubble necklace but it is more green. Thanks for sharing the necklace with us!

    2. So what's the deal with this site? Decent quality stuff? I've never ordered from them but I really like these necklaces!

    3. I had ordered the Teardrop Necklace (Anthro lookalike) from them in the past and the quality was very good, it did not look like a knock off to me. From what I can tell from the pics the chain is different than the JC one, but the rosettes look pretty spot on. I don't think you can go wrong for $20.

  14. Oh yay! I am so glad you liked the turquoise. I debated on that color as well, but I have an amazing 5 strand RJ Graziano turquoise pearl necklace, so I don't really need another statement piece in that color. But I am such a sucker for mint!

  16. I can't seem to use the reply button...but @Marietta, thanks for the tip! I keep seeing the orange necklace on Instagram and not sure I can pull it off but I am loving the other colors.

I also noticed there's a version of the pave link bracelet on that website in gold, silver, and multicolor for $20.

  17. Anybody have any experience washing the linen city mini? It says machine washable. I just received the flax and navy today and they fit perfectly, but I'm worried they might shrink. Should I size up to a 2? I normally get a 0 in the wool ones since they are dry clean. I got the same size in the linen version. Any thoughts?

  18. Did the review of the Collection Secretary Blouse in hummingbird floral that I promised to do yesterday (I mentioned it in the "looking to sell" post).

    Here is the link. :)

  19. Does anyone own the Tartine satchel? I am thinking about purchasing it today, during the great promo, but I haven't found very many reviews of it online. Thanks!

    1. Leah, I don't own it, but I recall several JCAs reporting that the leather looked and felt cheap.

    2. That is good to know! Thanks very much. :)
