"Thanks!" to many of you, including innisfree & GigiOfCa (in this post), who also let us know the following...
J.Crew has extended their promotion to take an additional 25% off merchandise by using code SPRINGBEST. Card members can take an additional 30% off merchandise when they use their J.Crew credit card and with promo code CARDSTYLE. These offers now expire Friday, May 3, 2013.
Is your store offering this sale?
Will you be checking out the new arrivals or sale items? Are there any items
you are hoping to see or to get?
Pretty useful if you made a big purchase using the code, and some of it doesn't fit and you want to reorder!
ReplyDeleteMy orders take forever to get shipping information. I got a shipping confirmation and tracking number on 4/26 and the info still isn't appearing on the UPS site. Does this happen to anyone else? The good news is that when the tracking info finally does appear, the shipment is usually due to arrive that day or the next. But for someone compelled to know where my stuff is, this is problematic.
ReplyDeleteI am glad the extended the promo. If there are things I really like in my order I will probably order multiples before the sale ends.
your tracking number should work today or tomorrow. i always have the same thing happen when i order at the end of the week (since they don't ship over the weekend). you get the shipping confirmation once it is all packaged and ready to ship, usually a day or two before it's actually shipped, at least that's how it works for me.
Deletejoy - Not too long ago someone mentioned that the UPS service for J Crew has changed. Instead of starting the tracking on the 1st pickup, they begin tracking it when arrives to another location. I wish I could remember exactly what was shared. Basically, by the time they start loading info, the package has already been traveling. I gathered that it must be some sort of cost cutting measure that UPS offered & JC took advantage of. I'll try to ask at UPS next time I pick up.
DeleteThis happens to me all the time. I only get actual shipment information from UPS site when it has reached Salt Lake City and then it is about 1-2 days before I receive it. I agree with Joy, it is frustrating to have days where you have no idea where your package is.
DeleteI remember going to the UPS distribution center over Christmas to pick up a package that, according to tracking, was there. I was told that the location on the tracking info is not ACTUALLY where the package is, it's just an estimated "where it SHOULD be according to UPS at this time." I still don't quite understand what that means. When it says "arrival scan," apparently they are not actually scanning the package. I know this doesn't answer the original question but it sure makes me scratch my head over UPS procedure.
Delete...and don't even get me started on UPS SurePost...
DeleteI had a tracking number that did not show up for over a week and I got the package and it never did show. Weird. This happened just a week ago.
DeleteI'll be in Toronto and stopping at Yorkdale on May 8th, so I'm hoping that J. Crew is not all promo-ed out by then! Keeping my fingers crossed!!
ReplyDeleteI may bite if one item I have been eyeing will be pop back.
ReplyDeleteA Pink Tweed Jacket OOTD here.
I am traveling today and not buying anything but if anybody is considering midrise toothpicks or Miri midheel pumps (I just noticed I am drawn to 'mid', apparently) I have just posted reviews on my blog, see HERE
ReplyDeleteI was hoping to see Final Sale gone this morning. It really is time for it to go away again, and in previous years Spring Sale has usually been back in effect by now. Perhaps this year it will be back on May 4th?
ReplyDeleteI will say that I was still pleasantly surprised to see that the promo had been extended today, and may go ahead and get a couple of items I have been contemplating before the end of this week.
I was thinking the same thing FFM. All the stuff I might have purchased is sight unseen and final sale. Two things that together usually spell big trouble. I think that I am all set for spring so anything else that I buy needs to be super special or ridiculously low priced.
DeleteOT: I am so happy that the numbers in the verification code have been switched back to letters. I always got those wrong.
I'm contemplating the Apron eyelet dress.. Any reviews?
ReplyDeleteTIA
I'm happy to see they've extended the promo! If anyone's thinking about the Lillian Calf Hair Wedges, I just posted a review of them here. Love them! Running TTS.
ReplyDeleteanyone bought any tops recently that are work appropriate for business casual? I'm always in need of more work clothes.
ReplyDeleteI got the engineered-stripe boatneck tee in ivory/gold and am planning on wearing it under a blazer at work. HTH
DeleteI do find it ironic that the JC Rewards card shipping has somehow gotten delayed until May 1, just when this latest lovely promo ends...
ReplyDeletehas anyone tried the cashmere mixed stitch sweater and have any thoughts on it? thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteJCAS,
ReplyDeleteNeed your opinion- for those who have tried on the factory embroidered dress--is there a real difference between that one and last year's retail version? In other words, I think retail was strapless and no pockets? Also they didn't offer it in navy last year right in retail. I'm just debating if I should get the factory version if I already have the coral retail one. Any thoughts? Thanks!
I'm wearing my new schoolboy in tipped linen that I got on the promo today. Was loving it for the first 3 hours until the button spontaneously fell off and rolled under my desk somewhere. Seriously?? Seriously WTH.
ReplyDeleteSo frustrating!
DeleteOh Jessy I feel you. After that I happened to me with 2011's hacking jacket I have taken to checking and securing loose buttons on J.Crew clothing before I wear them. I totally shouldn't have to do that! Smh.
DeleteI've had problems with loose buttons since early 2000s. Doesn't look like a problem they are willing to fix. It can be very frustrating!
DeleteA few early mini-reviews, in case anyone is interested...
ReplyDeleteCap Sleeve Vintage Tee: I think this is a new style. I like it and got a few colors, but the gray one is much smaller than the others. A whole size smaller, I'd say. The white is too sheer for me.
Broken-in Boyfriend Chino shorts: I ordered these in two sizes to try, in Scuba Blue. Love these! I wear an 8 in J. Crew chino shorts these days, but the 6 is the right size in these. They run a bit big, I think.
Camp Popover in Bar Stripe: Very cute but may return, don't really need it. Also, it wrinkles very easily (it's 100% cotton, not linen). It might be too high-maintenance.
Alie Gladiator Sandals in Wisteria: These are adorable. The color is pink-ish, maybe a touch lavendar, the little heel is shiny gold. I so don't need these, should return them. Or to invent an occasion that I need them for :) They fit fine in my usual size 8, but they have that long footbed syndrome like the Lillian Wedges. I'd buckle the strap on a tighter hole to keep my foot pushed forward in the sandals. I could probably wear a 7.5 in these. But I should return them...
Jacquard Dot Top in Fresh Guava: This silhouette was terrible on me. Puff sleeves always look bad on me, but I didn't expect these to puff so much. It made me look even wider across the shoulders and upper body. Returning for sure. But it's very pretty and it's going to look great on someone else. The fabric is very lightweight, almost sheer.
Scalloped Shorts: I tried these in White and in Navy in size 8 which is my current J. Crew shorts size. These were not flattering on me at all, felt tight in the waist, and I'm definitely returning them. The scallops are mainly on the pockets, so you can't really see them. There is a big scallop on each (outer) hem, but it doesn't really look like a scallop. The main reason they are going back is that they are high-waisted, not a good style for my not-so-defined waistline. My waist could use a size 10, but the rest of me needs a size 6. They flared out too much at the leg holes. The back bottom of the shorts stood away from my leg too much. These were nothing special, which was disappointing because I was sorry I missed out on J. Crew's scalloped shorts in the past.
Stripe Linen Tunic: This didn't look especially good on me. It was just okay, not keeping it.
Cate, I'm glad you liked the boyfriend chino shorts! They are my favorite and I find they run a size big too. I was also curious about the cap sleeve vintage tee. That's weird about the grey color, that is the color I was thinking of trying.
Delete@Cate, I love how you are trying to talk yourself into returning the sandals. :) that color does look gorgeous.
DeleteDid the vintage cap sleeve tee run the same size as the vintage vneck tee or crewneck tee? Thank you.
Lauren, I might re-order the gray in a size up. I don't know if I just got an odd one or if all the gray is running small.
Deletejan, I really need to return those sandals! I'd say the Vintage Crewneck is sized the same as the Vintage Cap-Sleeve (I've found the Vintage V-neck to run a little larger than the Crewnecks in the past).
Does anyone know what the price of the 'Embroidered Eyelet Tank' (style # 38396) in bright rose is? The ivory color is still $65. I saw bright rose was on sale/promo but didn't notice the price. I found one in the store and wanted to see if I could get the price adjusted. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLauren: The last online price for the Bright Rose is $54.99.
DeleteThanks so much FFM! I should have known that you would know :) I went ahead and ordered it but if I decide to keep it I'm going to see about a price adjustment.
DeleteQuestion: If I'm a size 4 in a #2 pencil skirt, should I get a size 4 or 6 in a J.Crew mini skirt?
ReplyDeleteDoes it differ with Factory sizing?
For reference, I generally wear a size 6 in jeans, but a size 4 in dresses.
I wear a 4 too and I usually go up to a 6 mainly so it hangs lower on my hip to make if a little longer. HTH
DeleteHas anyone tried the pencil wrap skirt in pink and blue stripe that's on sale? Dying to see a review somewhere!
ReplyDeletekate, this was my original review.
Delete"I'm always surprised by one item in an order that I never really had much hope for. This time around it's the pencil wrap skirt (40074). First off, this is not a pencil shirt. CFS needs her eyes checked. This skirt has a slight flare, along the lines of the box-pleated skirt but with much less pleating. My sister remarked that no clothing should be this complicated to put on (a zip, two buttons and hook and eye closures). But I feel better about all the back up closures should say, God forbid, a button pop on wrap skirt in public. The fabric content is 88% polyester and 12% silk; I am forgiving this because the fabric feels nice to the touch and the colors are 'ooooh' inducing. Wished they had lined it in something other than poly though. 18.5" long and pretty true to size. I'm keeping because it make me feel like a spring confection."
I have already re-ordered it at the current price. I absolutely love the fit and the colors and it works surprisingly well with a lot of my wardrobe. I'm 5'4", 120lbs and took a size 0 which hit directly above my knee.
Thanks so much D*ska - really appreciate your review! Think I might bite on this one...
DeleteKate-I just received that skirt yesterday. I am currently 6.5 months pregnant so I can't comment on fit. The skirt is beautiful; I can't wait to be able to wear it. It's classic preppy navy and pink. The fabric feels great-like a cotton silk, but I think it's poly. The skirt is lined and closes with a zipper on the inside and 2 buttons and a clasp. It seems well made. The shape is somewhere between a pencil and a-line, hard to tell since I can't try it on. I ordered a 6, I usually take a petite 6 or 8 in pencil skirts, which I wear all the time.
ReplyDeleteyes, definitely the shape between a pencil and a-line skirt. Is there a term for that?
DeleteThanks ladies! Great info. I love this site.
