This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this
post) says it best, "You know, that thing you
bought because you love it and you keep pulling it
out and then putting it away without wearing it?"
Please
share your J.Crew item (either that you own or
are thinking about getting) that you would love help
creating an outfit with.
Also,
please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel
free to include links to your blog (where you
incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you
showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance!

I purchased 4 Hacking jackets this past Winter and the buttons keep falling off of the peri, mint and orange one!!!! Is anyone else having this issue? Other than that, the quality is beautiful but, what gives JCrew??
ReplyDeleteI also had that problem with the mint--one of the buttons fell off before I even tried it on, and the other soon followed. The seam on one of the arms was off, too. I've heard that other people have had issues with this round of Hacking jackets. Fortunately, I haven't had any problems with my tipped Hacking jacket.
DeleteHad the same problem. I ended up just changing the buttons to the anchor buttons that I had from a ruined Lexington jacket. I'm not even that great at sewing but I am confident that the buttons that I sewed on won't fall off. Is that too much to ask of a 'professionally' sewn piece of clothing?
DeleteThe wool on this round of Hacking jackets also seems thinner than 2011's version. I know for sure that it feels lighter in weight when I compare the two.
Wonder what this fall's version will look/feel like.
I am looking for suggestions of tops to match the pop art bikini bottom in dark cove. I loved the combination of the pop art in modern red and graphic dot red top in the last JCrew magazine, but there doesn't seem to a blue that matches in the graphic dot line. Any other suggestions? My local store doesn't carry swimwear so I can't view the colors in person to see if any of the solid blues would match. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHELP! Need outfit ideas for my VIVID AQUA CONTESSA SNAKESKIN BOW PUMPS. They've been sitting in my closet since February. For shoes so pretty, they should be worn! Help me with ideas: casual, work, play, etc. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhite jeans, white top, shoes will be the show stopper.
DeleteI've finally decided to buy the Panama hat, but I'm not sure what color to get. I love the idea of the white, but I think the natural might be more versatile. My local store doesn't carry the hats, so I haven't seen either color in person. Any input would be appreciated!
ReplyDeleteinnisfree - AJC reviewed the white Panama in this post.
DeleteGigiofca, thanks for the link!
DeleteHi innisfree! After reading your post and looking online you've piqued my interest in this hat. I was in the store today and saw and tried on the natural hat. They didn't have the white one. It is very cute! I like the natural but am really intrigued by the white because it seems more unique to me. Right after I left Jcrew I walked into H&M and they had the exact same hat for less than half the price (in the natural color). I will say that I liked the lining in the Jcrew hat (a soft cotton strip about an inch or more thick) better than H&M (a poorly tacked-on ribbon that matches the outside ribbon).
ReplyDeleteFor the sizing, Jcrew only had the s-m and l-xl. The small was def too small and the l-xl seemed a little big. I measured my head when I got home (weird, I know) and it seems that I am kind of in between m-l & l-xl so would need to try them both to find the most comfortable one. If you do order, you might want to try a couple of sizes to be sure?
Lauren, thanks for the helpful info! I think I'm pretty much sold on the white hat, especially since AJC mentioned on her post that it's more of an ivory color, which sounds lovely. I have a fairly small head, so I'll try ordering the s-m and the m-l to be sure of the fit. Thanks for the advice!
