J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website today (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, as did the J.Crew Collection (click here). Fortunately, the April catalog (click here to view) is available to view. However, not the May catalog.

Note: I wanted to mention that the Sale Section (click here to shop online) had a decent update this morning for Women (990+ items) and Men (325+). It looks like several new items have made it to the sale section.

Plus, J.Crew is offering an additional 25% off merchandise and free shipping online by using promotional code SPRINGBEST. The 25 % offer offer expires April 28, 2013. The free shipping offer expires today.

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. The only new item that I ordered was the tortoise flower necklace (item 02242). I love tortoise, but I have had a hard time finding anything other than the standard links in tortoise necklaces. This one reminds me of the beaded rose necklace, but in a more neutral tone. I was late to jump on the beaded rose bandwagon -- I thought it looked too big and too bright until a SA found one in a drawer when I asked to see something else -- the store thought they were sold out and that they would not be getting any more in. IRL, it is fabulous, and I was really lucky to get it, esp. while they were having a percentage off everything promo going. With 30% off the tortoise necklace now, I'm not going to wait for a better deal, as I can always return if I end up not liking it.

The tortoise flower also comes in a bracelet, and there is a tortoise circle bracelet that is also unusual but classic, but I'm holding off on those (for now!) as I find I don't wear bracelets nearly as much as necklaces...

  2. audreys I noticed that tortoise jewelry, I love it! I have a thing for tortoise as well, I use one of those JCrew tortoise hair clips everyday, I must have 10 of them.
I saw a couple of pretty dresses but I don't like the poly they are using. One dress (full skirt, pale violet colour) is described as silk faille but then the fabric is listed as poly/cotton. This fabric thing is bumming me out, JCrew at one time did gorgeous summer dresses in beautiful fabrics, with cotton or silk linings.
There is a linen suiting dress that looks very nice and is described as lined in silk, I don't need a dress like that but I'd love to see a review!

  3. The linen pieces in the suiting section are lovely but they're linen! How can anyone in a professional office environment buy those? I would love that scalloped jacket and the twist front dress is fabulous. I just can't wear linen to the office. By the time I get out of the car I look like I've slept in my clothes. Also curious as to why the bow shoulder dress would be in the suiting section. It's got bows on the shoulders and a deep v-back. Not exactly office attire.

On the upside, the color of those Etta snakeskin pumps is just gorgeous. I really wish that color snakeskin was available in the Everly. They'd be in my cart right now!

  4. I found several items that I'm interested in seeing IRL: the Lillian Wedges in Calf Hair, Ratti print voile tank, Eyelet linen top, Melissa t-strap wedges, Scallop linen jacket, Linen Baseball sweater. I think the Liberty topcoat looks lovely, but the price is so high for an item that won't get worn that often. The Virginia Johnson lobster tote is darling. I also like the new white enamel link bracelet and coral earrings.

I just posted reviews of the newish Linen Cap-sleeve dress and the Rugby-stripe Dress here today. I like both of them.

  5. I was hoping for some cotton sweaters instead of the merino wool, maybe a Tippi in cotton or a cotton/linen.

    1. Me too! I am waiting with bated breath for their linen Tippis that they did last year. I really hope they will have some this year. Those are my favorite.

      Delete
    2. Me three! That was the first thing I looked for this morning.

I rotated my closet to my summer clothes last week, and I've worn my linen Tippis nearly non-stop since then.

  6. Love that they are offering free shipping today with the 25% off! I'm tempted to get the seersucker pencil skirt to try. Also noticed the neon rose eyelet skirt is on promo (love this skirt and am wearing the navy version today!)

From the new arrivals, I like the linen baseball sweater but honestly not much else. I have some reviews of new arrival tops, including the embroidered wildflower tee, stitchwork stripe tee, & embroidered gauze top here.

    1. I saw your review of the Embroidered Wildflower top. I see you tried it in a small. Did you size up? What did you think of the ivory? TIA

      Delete
    2. Small is my usual size, so I would say it fits TTS. Even though it is stretchy and I had some room in it, I would not size down because the thinner fabric in the back would show lumps and bumps very easily. I thought the ivory was gorgeous but didn't see it until after I left the fitting room. If I were to get this top, I would probably get the ivory color. HTH!

  8. I agree with TeriLynn these merino wool Tippis should have rolled out in Feb. or March not May when it's almost too hot (or already too hot for those further south) to wear them. I'll probably still get both the graphic floral and butterfly one anyway though but i need to get them asap and wear for about a month. What a waste. (I think items in the Feb. rollout were more late spring appropriate). I saw them both IRL yesterday and they are too cute. Was in a hurry with no time to try so sorry I can't give any size info.

  9. Is the Frost foulard short-sleeve shirt a shirt or pajamas? I can't tell.

    1. The VPS helping me yesterday suggested I try to the shirt with an eyelet sample sale blazer I was trying to create an outfit with. So I'd say it's pajama-style not designed as actual pajamas.

  11. Nearly everything that is catching my eye is collection/overpriced. Like the toulouse floral shorts. I saw those and thought wow, I need those! Then I went to the product page and saw that they were silk and over $200. PASS. Why not make those in a nice refined chino?

And why so much cashmere? Who wears cashmere in the summer? I never do, and I live somewhere that doesn't even get super hot.

The lulu frost celestial necklace looks straight out of Claire's in the late '90s.

Where are the cute shoes? I am not seeing any.

Agree with all that linen suiting is not a good idea.

I will say, I am immediately ordering both colors of the merino butterfly tippis. Those are cute and reasonably priced.

  12. I like a couple of things from the new rollout: frost foulard short-sleeve shirt, perfect shirt in crosshatch linen, collection topcoat in phoebe floral, and the apron dress in eyelet. The topcoat is my favorite though, and I really hope it makes it to a good sale price in my size.

  15. I find a lot of the new arrivals to be very attractive but not sure I'll buy. The seed stitch Etta's are gorgeous, but I can't do that high a heel. The punk floral dress is lovely, but I need it to be a tad longer. The hibiscus floral leather skirt is so cool, but I don't have $1200 for one item.

I can't believe that I love the calf hair Lillian wedges, but I do. And the piped Mari's. And the Liberty topcoat. All of these are maybe's if they go on sale.

The electric kiwi print is fabulous, and I'll likely buy the tank. And I'm eager to try the scalloped linen jacket.

  17. I'm mad, I snagged the Sera top in Medallion Paisley yesterday morning and now today there's free shipping on any order. HMPH. Of course the top was not in stock this morning, and I know, what's the big deal, it's only another $9, but jeez!

    ReplyDelete

    1. It's only $9, but it's also $9 that you are throwing away on shipping. If it was a $9 different in the cost of the actual item, that'd be easier to swallow - I totally understand your frustration Elaine!!!

    2. Elaine good to see you. I think of you & hope you're doing well :)

    3. I really wish they'd just go to free shipping or at least lower the minimum to like $50, I used to get everything UPS Ground and here in like two days but they seem to be using the slowpoke SurePost which is taking almost a week. With as slow and as cheap as it must be for them at least don't make me pay the same price as when it was sent UPS

    4. I HATE HATE HATE Smart/Sure post! Seriously, it takes so long. I get so angry when I see something has been sent that way. And totally agree about lower minimum on a consistent basis.

  18. I am loving more of the new arrivals than I expected based on the style guide...ordered the toulouse shorts, punk floral silk collection blouse, punk floral skirt (I changed my mind from previous post, lol), the frost foulard short sleeve shirt, and the foulard long sleeve piping shirt. I'm seriously thinking about a few of the pant options...the frost foulard capri and the pagoda pant, however I have yet to find a pair of J Crew pants that look good on me. I'm 5'7 and even with 4 inch heels I feel like they make me look so, so short (capri options). I wish J Crew would make some of the capris in full length options! I also want the hibiscus leather skirt...but, I'm going to wait a month or so and see if it drops in price. If it makes it to sale, I would buy with an extra percent off. I'll be posting reviews of my new arrival haul. Hope everyone gets what they want out of this update!

  19. I can't believe the Punk Floral skirt sold out already! I was hoping to try it and the dress and keep whichever I liked better, but I guess the decision has already been made for me unless it pops back. It's probably just as well for my wallet.

I also ordered the Liberty topcoat, telling myself it's just to try on and not to keep at this price, but we'll see if it's a like or love. I do hope it makes it to sale at some point!

And finally, I'm trying the jeweled medallion sweater, which is back ordered until mid-May.

I might pop over to my local b&m this afternoon to see what they have.

  21. So I love the tortoise necklace. I am liking the SWOOP top in citrus but need to see IRL. I also love the floral shorts but the price is outrageous. I agree with many on the linen factor. I hate it in the summer even though it's supposed to be cooling. It's a wrinkled nightmare. I am so over all the cashmere, even if it's lightweight, it's still a sweater! I just cannot do it when it gets past 70, I'm over the sweaters. I also think the foulard short sleeve shirt looks too much like a pj top. Right now, my bag is the tortoise necklace and linen skirt in citrus. I'm loving CITRUS right now...it feels happy.

  24. Back from the store and tried on several things! I didn't think I'd like it, but really liked the Punk Floral Dress -- the back was really interesting to me. The Linen Eyelet top was very cute. Loved the Ratti print in the tank (I went with a 4, though I thought a 2 would work), and the Ratti print comes in a cotton dress/tunic that is adorable and came home with me. (It's the same shape as the Java Tunic dress from last year). The Linen Baseball Sweater is cute and so soft and I loved it, though the off-white is verging on too sheer. Will test that out a bit more at home. There was a nice navy and ivory geometric-printed sleeveless dress that I liked with a fuller skirt and thicker material.

    1. @shopwithm! Thanks for the update! How was the length on the punk dress? Looks too short for me at 5'9" and wishing I could pull it off :) also - how is the sizing on the linen baseball sweaters? TIA :)

    4. The punk dress was on the shorter side, though it didn't feel crazy short to me. Like too short for any kind of work thing, but for a night out, cute. At 5'9" though, it might end up being too short for you, boo. I'm 5'5".

Linen Baseball sweater felt TTS to a big big, depending on your bust. I preferred the fit of my usual small in it. It is a bit sheer, fyi, so I'm going to play around with it.

  27. I bought the butterfly tippi, the swoop top in punk floral and the tortoise flower necklace. I had bought the beaded rose necklace earlier and returned it since I thought it was too bright. I love the camp popover in stripe and the sailboat tee, but hoping these go on sale in the next round of mark downs.

  28. I just went to my B&M and spent more than I ever have in one swoop. The new Georgetown J Crew is open in DC, and it's huge and nicely organized. The only drawback is that there's no clearance rack (another bargain hunter pulled me aside and stage-whispered "Does this store have no sale section?)

The new bow-shoulder dress (77756) fit like a dream when I sized down from my normal petite size. It's not too tight, beautifully tailored, and has a nipped-in waist but plenty of room for hips and chest for those who are hour-glass shaped like me. It fit so well I had to buy it. The shoulder bows stick up, so I might sew them down flat if I decide I don't like having pointy shoulders.

  31. OK, so I admit to using the 30% off code twice this week-- I got the neon minaudiere (backordered till June), the vintage short-sleeved pj set, the exploded umbrella tee, and the sheer cotton cross-back sundress. The last one is kind of a risk- I ordered it in white but am wondering if black would have been a better choice. I know it's sheer, so either way, it's going to have to be over a swimsuit or just around the house. But if the white is TOO sheer, then I may have to go for the black.

  32. Also, I would like to acknowledge the miracle that I was blessed with earlier today -- somehow I am able to post from work again without my posts getting lost to the spam filter, woot!

So 'howdy' to all my peeps who I've missed so terribly much in the past few months. I've thought of you often and hope you are all well. It's been an ugly road but I'm trying to convince myself I'm on the upswing now. Not at the end but getting there.

As for the topic at hand, I looooove the punk floral print and colors but the execution, notsomuch. The silk button-down and the swimsuits are probably the only pieces I'd actually buy, and I need both like a dang hole in my head.

How cute would that bikini be with the matching rashguard?! Argh! Those have my name on them when they hit FS in a month. :P

I also adore the electric kiwi print -- I am such a Ratti whore, omg! Maybe if I can lose another 10 pounds this summer, I will treat myself to the shorts and/or string bikini + matching board shorts. And then force myself to sell 3 of my other unworn, NWT bikinis to fund the purchase. HEE HEE.

Love that Nili Lotan block-print beach dress but not for $245, and it's too short for me to wear to work anyway. Love the embroidered gauze top, but not for $110.

Prices, prices. Tsk tsk tsk. I will chance it w/final sale when the time comes....

  34. I actually see a lot of things I really like. The butterfly Tippis, some of the jewelry, the glitter wedges, the eyelet linen top, that Ratti tank.... I'm going to take a second pass through and maybe order a few to try on while there's FS and 25% off. It's hard for me to want to jump in today, b/c the other day, I took a bunch of stuff to a resale shop and found a TON of new and old school JC in great condition. I was over the moon! Amazing stuff at dirt cheap prices. Makes it hard for me to wade in here after such a huge score! I've been re-building my wardrobe, so finding those treasures really helps.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Joy! Have you measured your torso? If you go to the swim size chart on Jcrew's website it gives the measurements for long vs regular torso. It's more about about your proportions than your height. I am barely 5'5" and I have a long torso and super short legs. HTH!

      Delete
    2. joy, I am 5'10" with a proportionate torso and the long torso is barely long enough for me... They are really not too generous.

    3. I am 5'10" and always buy a regular torso suit from JCrew going on several seasons now. It really is about your torso measurement not your height.

    4. I agree with the others that have indicated it's more your proportions than your height. I'm 5'8" and have a long torso swimsuit in size 4, but because I really wanted a print one this season I was able to size up to a 6 in a regular swimsuit and it works for me. 37. I tried a few things on and really liked the punk flower top, I am probably going to get that one. Tried the Ratti tank but the fit was a bit off, it was pulling a bit on my chest in my regular size and I liked it better tucked in. I tried the sheer cotton crossback dress and it is definitely for the small chested (the neckline is a bit weird, as you can see on the model). It is sheer (tried the black) but it is supposed to be a cover up (no way you can get away with it as a regular dress). I will put up pics later tonight.

    1. I have the paley in super 120s. I like them, but they are pretty thin and unlined. I have them in a camel color and always have to be careful what underwear I have on - that's how thin they are. Some people here find them itchy, but I don't. They did stretch a bit after a few wears but not enough for me to want a size smaller. I ordered the paley in 'stretch wool' today and I have a feeling the fabric is a little more substantial than the unlined 120s. At least, that's what I'm hoping!

  43. I liked a lot in this rollout. Scout Chinos in Rouge color. Swoop top in Punk Floral is really cute. I like the Ratti print stuff but I think it is too busy on me. The tank is pretty cute and I'm still thinking about it, the dress was not cute on me (didn't see the shorts). I am interested in the Scalloped shorts, both the Navy and Ivory look cute. I like the looks of the Jacquard Dot top in Fresh Guava, too.

This isn't brand new, but I am drawn to the Alie Gladiator sandal, in Wisteria. It looks like lavender with what looks like a gold heel. I don't know where I think I'd wear these! Also not brand-new, but I like the Camp Popover in Wide Blue Stripe.

I like some of the basics: the broken-in Boyfriend shorts in Scuba Blue (does anyone like this style? I don't care for the button fly but I love this color. There is a new style in the Vintage Tees, the "Cap Sleeve" tee.

Crew.

    1. I think I've seen the butterfly silk top in the sale section, but can't remember what store it was. Maybe customer service could help you find one, I think they might still be out there (or check for early morning pop-backs, I think I saw it there at least once too).

    2. The butterfly was online the last two mornings around 7am.

  46. Has anyone tried on the swoop top - how low is the back?

Rosie, my email re the 30% cardholder promo says it lasts until the 28th. Not sure how they could change that after sending out 2 emails with that info.

    1. Yes, I'm curious about whether my bra will show in the back...

    2. math teach and cousy, the swoop top does not have a very low back, I don't think your bra will show, at least that was my experience. HTH!

    3. math teacher -- I know! That's what I said. She said it might just be the in-store promo. I hope she was just misinformed. I don't see how they could stop the promo when everything says the 28th. And if she was doing it to make a sale, that's just bad form...

    4. Is it too much for school and/or a fairly conservative church? I'll "make do" with the scarf, but the blouse is so pretty!
      Thanks for the help!

I asked my ps about the removal of the extra % and he didn't know. Said they don't learn that info until each morning. I had him pull items so I could try IRL but would have asked him to order instead if the promo was over today.

    5. I love this shirt...but it was below the bra for me...which just complicates things and I find I never wear it. A camisole would come up too high in the back..but it is gorgeous.

I think the lunch would be fine..as long as you had some type of support in the front...but school...too much..in my opinion.

    6. My bra didn't show in the back but I agree it is a bit too much for church or school, not because it exposes too much but because of the inconventional spot.

    7. Thanks for the input. I knew it was too much but like it and I was trying to make it work. I'll stick with the scarf. :)

    8. With a cardigan, IMO you could wear it to school or church.

    9. I guess I go to a more progressive church than other folks. :)

Nice blouse - I'm getting it.

    10. I just tried the punk floral swoop top. No showing in the back. However, I do find the fabric a little flimsy/see-through... still a gorgeous top though!

  47. Review of the classic enamel link bracelet in the new, white release.

That's a bad rumor about pulling the promo. Legalese usually gives a blurb about the right to make changes, but it would be in horribly bad taste if they did.

  48. FYI for those contemplating ordering, the Perfect Shirt in Mint Plaid is lovely, but runs a full size small. I am nearly always a 2 (and if not, then usually a 0) in most J Crew shirts- Perfects, Boyshirts, Liberty shirts, Blythes, etc. I sized up to a 4, since buttons gapped comically in the 2. The contrasting color is not a grey/white like it looks on the website, it's actually a pale periwinkle blue. Fabric is a bit thinner than most perfect shirts as well. Hope this helps!

  49. Does anyone else find the whistle necklace odd? I feel like JC is trying to sell us a rape safety whistle.

    2. I have similar from Anthropologie, but that never crossed my mind. I thought it might be handy for refereeing disputes amongst kids lol! In reality, it isn't very loud (the Anthro one, anyway).

  50. Update to the In-Store Price Notes. New prices on the cafe capri in tiny dots, glimmer tweed mini, silk stripe popover, tipped boy shirt and a couple others. Look for 4/24 in red for the most current updates.

  51. So I had to pop in to see things IRL today... After lots of restraint and ordering only the tortoise flower necklace online this morning, I also picked up the bracelet in store. This pair is every bit as darling as I could have imagined, and is so unique -- either piece will make me smile every time I wear it! One thing to note is that in the bracelet, the flowers overlap so it isn't especially comfortable, and it's also fairly small -- I have small wrists (e.g., I never buy JC bangles b/c they fall off) and it fit without looking at all loose. I had been thinking of the tortoise circle link bracelet, but when I saw it, esp. next to the flower bracelet, I decided against it. (Aided, as well, by my SA's opinion that "well, you could probably find something like that at Target.)

I saw some new crystal pieces as well, many are very lovely. The only one that came home with me was a crystal pendant necklace that I don't see online -- long chain, around $78.

Classic enamel link bracelet in white is much more interesting IRL; got that too.

Sale purchases: Martina patent wedges in apricot mist, a lovely peachy neutral for $150 less 30% and Coraline Patent Pumps in apricot mist and navy for $130 less 30%. Even though they are the same color from the front, they had a different enough look that I bought both, reasoning that they are both neutral-ish and easily wearable. It is too easy to talk myself into these things.

  53. Has anyone seen the jeweled collar short sleeve shirt IRL? It comes in white and navy. Reviews please :) Thask you.

    1. I was wondering about this shirt as well. Wasn't it on the site a while back and then disappeared or was that maybe a different shirt. Either way, any reviews would be wonderful.

    2. There was a sleeveless jeweled top in white and a chambray like color offered in the last rollout. Maybe, that's what you're thinking of. I got the sleeveless ones in petite and love them. I haven't seen the short sleeve ones in store yet. I'd be interested in hearing reviews for these. I don't think this version is offered in petite though.

  54. Just posted my review of the Ratti Electri Kiwi Tank, and the retail-only (for now at least) tunic dress here. I loved both of them!

    1. OK, Emma did a review of the ratti tank on her blog and I just commented on how I thought the kiwi were weird in that there was one covering each boob. But, now I see on the one you tired on that the kiwi are place in a really nice place. So I guess the size of the tank you get might have a different placement of the kiwi on the front. I just wanted to point this out so others are aware.

  55. Rich Scarlet color in the chino shorts is even better than the Chili color, if anyone is still thinking about red chino shorts. It is a more subdued color that I think will look a bit weathered with a few washings. I wish I'd held out for it, but who knew it was coming?

  56. Has anyone seen the Thistle print popover IRL? Is it as see-through as it looks online? I'm hoping for a fabric similar to last year's striped camp popover...a little see-through, but not so much to you have to wear a cami...

  57. Was someone was looking for the scalloped dress earlier? South Coast Plaza (Costa Mesa, CA) had navy and I think papaya in all sizes as of last night. I also saw the papaya in all sizes at Mission Viejo, CA the other day.

  58. Has anyone seen the moto mini linen skirt in store? Item 50962? It's pictured with the blythe blouse on the website. TIA!

  59. A bit late to the party, but I ordered 3 new items:

    (1) tortoise flower necklace
This seems like something I'll wear all summer.

    (2) butterfly merino Tippi (orange butterflies)
I'm not sure about the pale blue background, but those orange butterflies look so pretty! I'll see how it looks on me when it shows up.

    (2) ratti electric kiwi tunic dress
I LOVE this print, I'm just hoping it isn't too short or, if too short, that it works over cropped jeans as a tunic.
