J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Ruth (in this post), as well as unknown (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website today (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, but not the J.Crew Collection (click here). Fortunately, the latest catalog (click here to view) is available to view.

J.Crew sent an email out this morning announcing that there are over 50 new arrivals for the Spring Collection. Even though this looks like a smaller roll out of new arrivals, there are still quite a few new things to check out.

My first top pick is the Barbados Dress (item 46133; $168.00). First, the print is adorable and a complete throwback to J.Crew's playful location prints from the past (click here). They even mention it in the description: "...which sports a punchy tropical map motif from our summer '06 line that seems to bring warm weather with it wherever it goes..." Loves it! Second, I love the shape of the dress which is very lady-like. Perfect for shopping with friends or a Summer date with a loved one.
My second pick is the Golden Charm Bracelet (item 01772; $118.00). This piece is another throw-back to J.Crew's earlier charm bracelets. What is not to love about this current version with its Summer theme (including pineapple and palm tree charms). The gold tones make this bracelet a great accessory for any outfit.

Note: I wanted to mention that the Sale Section (click here to shop online) had a nice update this morning for Women (1040+ items) and Men (385+). It looks like several new items have made it to the sale section.

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. I will probably regret this when I stand up from my office chair and look like a wrinkled rumpled mess, but I think I'll order the no. 2 pencil skirt in navy/white stripe. It's cotton and linen, comfortable for summer, though likely to look like I was dragged through the bush backwards by the end of the day!

I have no need for the Sandra seersucker dress or the Barbados dress. I liked that they were both summery silhouettes and long enough for a tall girl like me.

  2. Thanks for the name check, Alexis!
I love that charm bracelet, and the Barbados dress!
I'm also loving the striped pencil skirt and the water lily necklace.

  3. Nothing for me this time....wish they would offer some non-low-rise pants and shorts and more cotton or knit blazers.

    1. I agree. I was hoping for some linen cardigans.

  4. Love the Barbados dress but worried about how they cut the fabric for the top. - The top of the sail boat is peeking up from the waist and the fish is making a leap for the model's left breast. The back has the palm trees on both sides. An all over print would have avoided the placement issues. Hopefully it will be in stores to view.

    1. I think that dress needs a belt because of the way the print is situated. Otherwise, it is adorable.

  5. I instantly thought of that 2006 Bahamas skirt as soon as the thumbnail of the Barbados dress caught my eye on the site. I wish I could track down the skirt. The dress seems a bit too cutesy to me, and the skirt would be easier to dress down.

    1. I found that skirt at Goodwill a few weeks ago (and bought it, natch). I about died- such an exciting treasure! It's a little too big for me but I'm going to try to take it in.

    2. You're so lucky! Glad the skirt found a good home with a JCA. :)

  6. Bummer...was hoping that the new linen polka dot shirts would be in this roll-out.

I'm loving some of the new dresses. The knit princess-seam dress looks interesting. Love the shape. Also love the linen cap-sleeve dress, but lordy I bet it would be a wrinkled mess. The Sandra dress in seersucker is super-cute.

Glad that they have re-released a seersucker pencil skirt. That's another that I missed out on last year that I've wanted ever since.

  7. Great picks, Alexis! Like you and others, I also really like the Barbados dress. I think the Golden charm bracelet is super cute too. I also like the Double-stripe swimwear options and the embroidered gauze top.

Not sure if it's new today, but the Collection medallion paisley shirtdress is really pretty and the length is decent, too. Too bad the price is so high. Hopefully that one makes it to sale soon (once final sale is gone).

  8. Btw, for those interested, there are new promo-priced items today and a lot of new markdowns, including the floral-stripe tee, peony tee, and collection silk panel peony sweatshirt to name a few. The entire list is posted here on my blog.

  9. O/T question, but can anyone compare the retail chinos shorts to the factory ones? Is the fit similar? Quality of fabric similar? They look very similar online. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete

    1. The fit is the same, IMO, but the fabric is different. The retail chino shorts have a more substantial fabric. The factory chino shorts are much lighter weight. I think they both wrinkle, but I dislike the factory version because of the thin material. It's less forgiving and I think it probably wrinkles more. I have some older factory chino shorts that are a wrinkled mess when I get them out of the dryer, which is ridiculous. The retail chinos come out of the dryer acceptably unwrinkled - I fold them over and smooth them out and they're good to go. Maybe the recent factory shorts are better than the older ones with regards to wrinkling. I ordered a few pair of factory chino shorts a couple of months ago because the colors were fun, but when I got them I didn't like them, the fabric again. The lighter colors might have been a bit see-through too (I think I tried yellow). Hope someone else will chime in. I wear the retail chino shorts all the time, but don't own recent factory ones.

    2. Thanks so much, Cate! I will go with my first instinct and check out the retail version. Since I want to get the light khaki colour, I sure don't want them to be see through!!

    3. Maybe it depends on how hot your climate is, too. In summer, it will usually be in the 80s, occasional 90s, and I never find the retail chino shorts to be too hot. Maybe if I lived somewhere hotter I might prefer the thinner factory ones?

  10. I love the print of the Barbados Dress, but I wish the waist hit a little lower. In general, this has been my complaint about spring dresses at a lot of retailers this season. Oh, and I wish it came in petite sizes.

After months and months of finding J Crew's jewelry to be gaudy and ridiculously over-priced, I'm loving the Crystal Droplets Necklace in both colors.

I like the Collection Featherweight sweater in colorblock, although I'll wait for sale. Same with the Silk Cutaway Top--cute, but too basic to be over $100. Still coveting the Striped Boy Shirt. The new Sailboats Tee is adorable--I hope it's not as thin and see-through as the polka dot tee which I saw in my B&M yesterday and loved, except for the aforementioned sheerness factor.

    1. I saw the sailboats tee in the store. I didn't try it on, but I touched it to see if it was linen and I thought it was not. It didn't seem see-through to me, plus it's a dark color which helps too. It felt like cotton. CFS says it is cotton.

  11. O/T does anyone know what time the website updated the sale section this morning? There are a few pop back items I'd like to try to get tomorrow. Thanks!

  12. I've had my eye on the Mini Medallion Tie Neck Dress, and now it's final sale. I've searched, and although TONS of people have loved on the dress, I can't find a single picture of it IRL or a review!!! Has anyone actually bought or tried it on? I don't want to be stuck with it if it doesn't fit right....

    1. Julie- I've been searching for an IRL picture or review as well! So strange!

    2. saw it in the window of the collection store, very cute, but looked short - the mannequins have no knees

  13. I love the front of the silk cutaway top. It looks perfect for summer...but then the back! I can't wear that to work. *sigh*

    1. I do too, Genny. The dress is a bit over the top and impractical; a skirt would have been perfect. Darn it!

    2. I agree - it would be adorable in a skirt. Think of the styling options :)

  16. Am I the only one who likes the new sailboat tee? Super cute!I really love the new seersucker Pencil skirt and cafe capri pants. Hoping I can pick these both up soon. And... the new sunflower and water lily necklaces too. :)

  17. I am loving so much! I have 6 things in my online cart but I am going to be honest, the total is $550 and I am not biting until there is a promo code. Offer 20-30% off and it will all be mine.

  18. If you are pining for the rosette necklace, there is a great dupe at groopdealz, for $20, in different colors too.

    1. Thanks for this Tisha. I just ordered it in my favorite color; yellow. I spent weeks contemplating getting the original from J.Crew but I couldn't figure out whether I loved it or not. However, I knew immediately that I had to have the yellow dupe. Hope that it doesn't fall apart immediately lol.

    2. I just got mine today (even though it wasn't supposed to ship until the 19th) in the coral. It is a great dupe and the quality seems great so far. I wish I had ordered in another color. I could take some pictures if anyone was still interested. I am going to watch and see if they come up again on.

  20. The Barbados dress is SO CUTE, but as Lauren S. mentions above, it appears to have a high waist so I passed. I bought the Stripe Drawstring Dress in Belvedere Red to try instead; I'm curious to see how it will fit and how thick the fabric is since I can always use another lightweight dress to throw on in the heat. I also bought the Postage Stamp Mini in Tresco Floral from the FS section because I've been wearing the Scatter Dot Mini all Spring and I'd love to add a floral mini into my wardrobe rotation.

  21. I love the idea of the Barbados dress, but that style looks bad on me. A v-neck with pockets and a slightly lower waist would have been better.

  22. The Barbados dress looks adorable. But I actually GO to Barbados at least once a year, and I think I would look like I was wearing a kitschy souvenir. Now if it were just the flying fish and not the map, maybe.(I already have beach shifts that have palm trees and 'Barbados' written all over them...)

    1. I would be more interested, if the Barbados dress came in a Petite size. The length will not look good on me, and with that print it cannot be hemmed. I am hopeful that a skirt will be released later!

  23. Love to see dresses that actually goes to the knee! Barbados dress isn't really my style but it is so hard to find anything knee length anymore, especially from Jcrew.

  25. has anyone seen the Linen cap-sleeve dress (#46914) in the orange color in person? is it bright neon kind of orange? more of a saturated orange? i hate that i can't trust the color in the online pics.

  26. The Barbados dress may not be that high waisted on others because I bet the model is pretty tall and has a long torso which would pull that waist up on her. I have this problem with JC dresses all...the....time....It will be nice to see some reviews with pics.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I mean to say the model in the Barbados dress probably has a long torso...is that the same as long waisted? Any way that is what I meant. If you look at that model in the Sandra dress and Frances dress the waists sit pretty high on her and not at her natural waist. I could be completely wrong, you never know with J Crew.

  28. Wow...I nearly fell asleep looking at the new arrivals. (yawn). J.Crew's Spring presentation last October got me excited...the past 3 roll-outs, what happened? There are only a (few) pieces I like, but it won't make me run to the store to buy it ASAP.

    I like Marissa Webb's spring/summer line from 2011 & 2012.

Still waiting to see if there will be a jewel collab with Jennifer Meyer in the near future..

  31. Can I get a St. Lucia dress? That I'd wear with pride. I think. lol. I must say that I never got the whole wearing a country's name, map or flag, especially if it's not your country. I guess it must just be kind of kitschy and fun. It's not me though, however interesting the piece may look. I only recently started wearing floral prints that weren't abstract and any kind of plaid including gingham.
Thought about getting the France cardi once, after I saw it on eBay since I dream of living there, but I cannot think of a more surefire way to seem like a tourist.
