JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

    1. Thanks for this reviw gigi. I've been going back and forth on this sweater for a while now.

  3. What to wear with the tresco floral toothpicks? Besides a white blouse... chambray shirt? Or is that too J.Crew-ish?

    1. I saw a SA pair the tresco floral mini with a neon azalea tippi - looked great on her.

    2. Neon azalea sounds great. I would also pick a top in that blue, pink or purple (magenta). I'd stay away from green or yellow.

I see the shirt is styled with striped navy shorts. Although it's not my style, you might like a striped top with the pants.

    3. Thank you injanuity and Rose!

I will try neon azalea, I have a jackie in that color! The blue would also be gorgeous.

  4. I always wondered who would wear the Collection Leather skirt in Hibiscus floral and most importantly, to where? My question has been answered. Spotted on one Ms. Solange Knowles at the runway show that Coachella has become.

    1. Her outfit looks so matronly. Ick.

    2. Insanely unflattering on her.

I wondered about that skirt too ... it seems like the cut requires way more drape than the leather fabric offers.

  6. Well I'm wearing the green "tweed" pencil skirt (I completely forget the name and it's sold out online) for the first time today with a cream silk blouse and really like it but...I don't wear green often and am struggling to come up with other combinations / ideas. Help!

This is today's outfit if you want to see:

    1. Sinead, I don't have the skirt but I just looked at your photo and off the top of my head I think that any shade of grey, navy, mustard (the more daring choice), beige/tan (actually the colour of the bathroom looks pretty good with it I think!), or a warm pink would look great with the skirt. HTH!

    2. I haven't seen that skirt IRL, but a navy cardi or blazer (perhaps with your cream blouse or another light-colored top underneath) might work well. Or if you're braver at mixing prints/textures than I, maybe something like the striped boyshirt in white & navy that's currently on sale?

    3. I wore this skirt yesterday with a bright papaya Tippi, the beaded rose necklace, and the gold Everlys.

    4. Sinead, I love it with the white blouse on your blog! I have this skirt too, and have worn it with a green Jackie cardigan
here and a navy v-neck sweater here

    5. looks fresh and springy! I'm waiting for mine to arrive, but I'm imagining it with black and white print tops (thin stripes?) and a softer mint tee or blouse. And navy- green always looks great with navy!

  10. I styled the Factory washed silk tee (Factory version of the gondola stripe top from last year) and Factory white skinny ankle jeans in my post here:

Also, this should probably be kind of obvious, but styling ideas for the caramel schoolboy blazer? I got this on sale recently for $69.99 and am trying to decide whether to keep it, it seems like a great piece but I'm not much of a blazer girl yet and unsure how much use I'll get out of it...

    1. I LOVE my caramel schoolboy! The color is so versatile. It's great with a Tippi sweater, skinny jeans or leggings, and riding boots. I'm not sure how much I'll wear it now that the weather is warming up, but my wool schoolboys are a winter staple.

    2. Erika - Try a white & navy striped top or lightweight sweater under the caramel blazer. The gondola stripe top might even surprise you underneath the blazer, with your tall brown boots. If you have purple in your closet, experiment with that, too.

  12. Here's how I wore the Factory Linen/Cotton Polka Dot Pullover for the first time. I never tried the retail version, but this is probably my favorite factory purchase ever.
