  1. If they would restock I would be more excited :)

  2. Just patiently waiting for final sale to go away.....Should be in the next week or two hopefully:) I would rather pay more $ and have the option to return.

    ReplyDelete
  3. I have not bought any sale for two months now. No final sale for me.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Just wish the stripe boy shirt in silk would show up on sale on line in the henna and blue colorways too :>

    ReplyDelete
  5. Eh... nothing really interesting me except the lady lace popover, but I can't buy final sale. I'm with Genny, I'll wait for fall sale.

The $175 minimum for free shipping stinks, too.

  6. I'd be happy for any guidance on the following issue. I purchased a suit in a local retail store this past weekend. The suit was not on sale in the store but is currently 20% plus an additional 30% off online. The suit has been sent to the tailor to be altered, so I can't return it. Is there any chance they would give me a credit at the store?

  7. Beautifulmind, they will do price adjustment if it was full price and under 7 days.

  8. Shorts. I bought 5 pairs of shorts. With the extra % off they all came to around $11. Sadly, it's still shorts weather where I live, so I can still be in a hot weather frame of mind. And for $11 I can always tuck them away for next summer and feel better when everyone is paying FP for theirs next May.

  9. Can anybody help me with a question about the fair isle sweater that's currently on sale? I love the look but have problems with wool or scratchy yarns. How does it feel? Is is likely to irritate sensitive skin?

    thanks so much.

    ReplyDelete
  10. @ Moya; I didn't try on the Fair Isle sweater but I picked it up and it looked like it would be fuzzy in a couple of washes. I would peg it as Monet: looks better from far away. And their Alpaca blends tend to be itchier than other yarns. Them's my $.02, HTH.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Thank you so much, dinster--you just saved me money. It is a shame that they couldn't make such a nice sweater in a better yarn.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Moya - I tried on the Fair Isle sweater last week and it was a little itchy, but not horrible. However my biggest gripe was that it was a very boxy fit - it may be what you're looking for, though. On me it looked frumpy.

  13. ordered 2 sweaters and a pair of cords... fingers crossed everything is good since the sweaters are final sale and one of them was a pop back which originally sold out a long time ago.

p.s. verification word is "extra"... wouldn't it be nice if jcrew sent me something "extra" with my package? :)

    ReplyDelete
  14. Ha MissJR, as long as the "extra" isn't used tissues in a pocket! ;) That story still makes me shudder.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Thanks frugalprepster--boxy isn't the look I'm going for. I was hoping for something more 1920s like the sweaters worn in IT or something that drapes rather than boxes out.

  16. Would love to know what items have been added to sale in stores... may have to check that out at lunchtime today and report back. I really want the mohair cardi in tangerine which I realize is catalog/web only, but given that they seem to have a lot of inventory I wouldn't be totally surprised to see it on a sale rack in the not-so-distant future - I would just go ahead and order it if not for the $8.95 flat rate shipping which negates the extra percentage off IMO, or if they would lower the price a bit more to move the inventory, OR if they lowered the free shipping minimum from $175.00. Seems too tricky these days to purchase just one item from the website. I truly miss the old days of free shipping promos on any amount - I'm reminded of a particular holiday season (2005 maybe?) in which I was able to order a pair of cashmere gloves on super sale as a fabulous last minute gift thanks to a free shipping promo. Don't think that's happening this year! ;)

In other news, the 5th Avenue store in NYC seemed to have a pretty healthy sale section as of last night - got the Adrianna pumps in roasted chestnut for around $89 and the fair isle vest for $11.89! Love love love that they allowed me to apply my 15% student discount on top of the 30% off sale items.

Will definitely report back if there is anything new in the sale section of my B&M today.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Dara, do the Adriana pumps fit TTS? Are they wide enough for an 'M' foot? TIA

    ReplyDelete
  18. Has anyone bought the lady lace popover in the champagne color? Wondering if it's worth picking up, since the lighter colors don't usually make it that much further in markdowns before they start falling out of stock....

    ReplyDelete
  19. Does anyone have any experience with the Minnetonka® deerskin moccasins?? I am liking them at around $41, plus of course the $8.95 shipping which I am not liking. Honestly, I keep looking at items, compare the original price and the sale price and other than a few items there really aren't any amazing deals for me. I am still holding out for the outwear sale that I hoping for..we had 5 inches of snow on Saturday and this weekend it is supposed to be 80..so can hold out a bit longer for outerwear.

    ReplyDelete
  20. @egyptomaniac: I'm down south too! Are you in TX by any chance? I also bought some shorts since the only ones I own right now are only for exercising :) Did you get the summerweight chino shorts?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Went to the B&M this morning, I apologize if this has already been noted but I didn't go this weekend so not sure if it was new of today. Anyway, the liquid silk skirt is on sale in both colors for $89.99 before 30% off, the plaid flair skirt is on sale as well ($99 maybe? Not sure) as are the cafe capri in toile jaquard and the ones that look like the houndsthood but are thicker ($99)?
The liquid silk skirt is the only midi skirt that doesn't look frumpy on me (it actually looks very elegant), so it was a must-have for me.
The herringbone shirtdress is on sale as well for $89.99. HTH someone!

    ReplyDelete
  22. If anyone is looking for the Paisley pencil skirt from Spring in a sz 10, there was one in Green Hills Mall in Nashville yesterday (marked $89.99 pre=30%, I think). The wool herringbone shirt dress was marked $89.99 in-store yesterday (pre-30%); super-cute, but super-short.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Rose, I found that the Adrianna pumps were just slightly smaller than TTS; I went up half a size whereas I usually go down half a size in JC flats. The width seems about normal, perhaps just slightly on the narrow side, although what's great about having 4 straps is that you can adjust the width for a better fit. HTH!

To update my earlier post, just popped by the 45th & Madison store in NYC; no major updates to the sale section since late last week. Saw a bunch of Fisherman sweater, some tanks and tees, origami minis in the peony print and a whole bunch of capri pants in the houndstooth pattern (same print as the origami mini in houndstooth although I'm not sure what the pants are called). Also saw a fabulous long button-down sweater vest in gray with black suede pockets which just so happened to be my size, but it was the only one of its kind and not marked down so I'm pretty sure it was there by mistake - still, that will be one to look for on markdown! If anyone knows of this item and can comment on whether it is brand new or on sale, I'd love to know! My lunchtime shopping trips are always so hurried that I forget to ask questions while in store.

  24. Ema what a great price on the liquid silk skirt!

I ordered a Jackie Cardigan for my MIL's bday and ride-alongs for me: a couple of perfect shirts to wear with my heather acorn pencil skirt.

    ReplyDelete
  25. @Ema- thanks for the info about the liquid silk skirt, it's not on sale online but I called my store nearby to try it on.

@Moya- I tried the Fair Isle sweater in camel and found it to be itchy (I wore a short sleeve t-shirt underneath). Though I'm pretty sensitive to wool, I do like the color and cut but can't justify buying it because it's just too itchy for me.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Could not resist popping in to see the sale in-store, as much as I tried. Got the bonnie dress for $55.99, which I think is a steal, as well as the printed wool scarf in the blue floral for $24.49. Also found the Cailey cord blazer (47601) in cedar (a dark camel) marked down to $120, $84 after 30% off. It fit perfectly for me -- it felt fitted through the body with slightly broader than usual shoulders.

  27. i have given up trying to figure out JCrew's markdown practices, doesnt it seem that they mark stuff down from first markdown then to 2nd and final really quickly. I bought the coastline tshirt at the end of sept. at 1st markdown, then it goes to 2nd markdown and with the add'l 30. within 12 days really annoying

I was going to return it, but they gave me the "curtesy" refund. which means to me that they dont want the merchandise back, they would sooner give the refund even though it is past the 7 days

there is no point in buying at anything full price or first markdown

  28. josanne- regarding the Minnetonka® deerskin moccasins. I have a pair and I like them. You do need to water proof them (at least I did mine). They are comfortable and cute.

My store is basic bare bones, with very few items and it seems we get things a month later than everyone else it is probably a really good thing for my pocket book but I do get a little jealous when things like PLAID FLAIR SKIRT go on sale! They don't have this skirt but I may have to figure out a way to get my hands on one!

    ReplyDelete
  29. MegCrew, what size do you want in the plaid flair skirt? I'm planning to go to a large B&M tomorrow at lunch. I'd be happy to put the skirt on hold for you if they have it.

  30. Are the fisherman sweaters on sale in store? Specifically the SF or Emeryville stores, if anyone has been. Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  31. shopalot-you are wonderful! I called around to some larger stores on the west coast and have one on its way to me. Thank you so much for your offer though! You are a gem.

    ReplyDelete
  32. simply complex -yes, the fisherman sweaters are on sale in my store and I have read that others are seeing the same. I believe they are $59.99 + 30% off. The sale was on most colors but the vintage champagne color. I would grab yours now, it seems like the sizes are selling out.

    ReplyDelete
  33. @sue.bee- yes! Deep south Texas near South Padre. It's so hot down here, we could wear shorts for the next few months!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Has anyone any experience with the glass pearl necklaces? Do they look fabulous or fake? Considering the opera length for my girls, but one is a jewelry snob, LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Thanks so much, Joelle. I'm also sensitive to wool so I'll be passing on that one and using the savings towards one of the cashmere sweaters that I want and will wear.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Does anyone know when the fall rewards cards get to us, approximately?

    ReplyDelete
  37. I ordered the cowlneck poncho and the origami mini in toile jacquard yesterday and they arrived this afternoon, talk about quick turn around! I love the cowlneck poncho and had been eyeing it for a while but it was only really worth the markdown price with the extra 30%. I got a small (my regular size) and actually love the oversize fit. It will look fabulous with skinny jeans. The origami mini in toile jacquard is gorgeous. I got the same size as the one in houndstooth (a 4, my regular) and this one is actually a bit tighter, interestingly, but fits. I didn't end up sizing up for either origami mini and I think they're TTS. The pleating allows for a little extra room in the hips :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. simply complex, all the fisherman sweaters are on sale for $59.99, including the vintage champagne color (I believe this one went on sale today as it wasn't on sale last week). I really like this one but the weave is very loose and it was pulling a bit on the chest in my regular xs. Anybody sized up on this one? I feel like I should wait for a better price but I really love the vintage champagne color and I am sure that it will disappear quickly from the racks in my size...

    ReplyDelete
  39. What can anyone tell me about the shimmermist sweater, 49984? Is it true to size?

    ReplyDelete
  40. I know others are talking about this fisherman sweater but I want to give a word of warning about the shrunken fisherman sweater. I bought the navy on sale and after one wearing it had loose threads popping out all over and looked like a rag. I wore it again to walk the dog (couldn't be seen anywhere else in it) and there is already a hole in the elbow and the other side is ready to give. Totally not worth 2c IMO. Buyer beware.

    ReplyDelete
  41. @ Cancan

I found the Shimmermist true to size but I found the colors rather blah in real life. I was really hoping the lighter color would be a true sparkly gold but it was just kind of bland. I also noticed that many of them had pulls in the fabric. It's that kind of sweater. Wasn't so impressed in real life.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thanks OperaRach! Bummer - I was hoping for something a little more exciting. I haven't been in the store for at least a month so I'm out of touch.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Snagged two Stripe Boy Shirts (navy and cider) and the silk polka dot top - I think the prices are great for 100% silk tops.

Has anyone tried the Lady Lace Popover in champagne? I'd love to know if it's sheer.

    ReplyDelete
  44. got my boys their Halloween costume pieces from the sale!

    ReplyDelete
  45. simply complex - The store may not have the fisherman sweaters merchandised in the sale section or marked as on sale, but if you take it to the register, it should ring up at the sale price.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Josanne, I bought a pair of Minnetonkas at Nordstrom a few years ago and I love them... they literally saved me last winter when I sprained my ankle and couldn't fit into any of my other shoes!

    ReplyDelete
  47. ema- I did size up on the Fisherman. I usually wear an XS (like in the Shrunken Fisherman) but I liked how the small fit better in the wool blend one, especially with a button up shirt under it. I am bummed that they just NOW mark down the Vintage Champagne! I asked the SA about it last Saturday and she said that was the only color that was still FP.

    ReplyDelete
  48. the Winsome dress is on sale in store for $109!

    ReplyDelete
  49. MegCrew and Disco George, thanks for the fb on the Minnetonkas. I am going to swing by my B&M after work and see what they have and then buy the mocs tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Re: deerskin mocs

I have two pairs. They are SO comfy. If you're between sizes, size down. Wear them gingerly outside though... the leather is already scraped on the bottom of one of my pairs after wearing less than 10 times. The leather is really soft and therefore easily damaged.

  53. OT, but there's a cashmere blazer in size 10 at a BIN of $55 (free ship) on ebay. I have an older cashmere blazer from JC that I loooove.

  54. OMG, shopwithm, thank you for posting that! I just bought it. I am currently a 6-8 but since it's older, I have a feeling it will fit. I have a couple of the 2007 and older coats in size 10 and they work well. Crossing my fingers!!! I have a cashmere herringbone blazer from a few years ago but it is currently too small.

  61. Operach, the Nashville store had several cowlneck ponchos a couple nights ago (not sure of sizes)--615-298-5722. Good luck. I love this poncho--hope it cools off here soon so I can put it to use!
