Edith A. Miller Arrives at J.Crew TodayI never heard of Edith Miller before now (so I have no opinion on whether this is a good partner for J.Crew). But I do like striped shirts! I am also curious about the price points for these pieces.

Stripes aren’t in so much as they’re everywhere. Whether you’re preppy, a hipster, a banker or a kid chances are there’s a striped something—probably tee—in your closet. But there are some brands who do classics better than others, so when two of the best team up, in this case J.Crew and Edith A. Miller, boring turns newsworthy.
The two brands launch their collaboration in stores today, and online next week on October 14th. “We are so lucky to have our relationship with our ’1906′ mill,” said Nancy Gibson, one half of Edith A. Miller. “Both the 1906 era and American style give us huge amounts of inspiration each season: we think of a spirited, sporty, independent girl from the turn of the century who likes her classic stripes and how she might wear them and mix them with pieces in her closet today.”
We asked Jennifer Murray, the other half, what she imagines her dream girl wearing with Miller’s shirts for J.Crew: “She would be wearing some red skinny jeans, from J.Crew of course, and a vintage leather motorcycle jacket with some amazing cat eye sunglasses!” Gibson’s version is only slightly different: “An Edith A. Miller mini dress topped off with a worn in leather jacket a la Patti Smith circa 1972 at the Chelsea Hotel!”
What are your thoughts on J.Crew's latest collaboration with Edith Miller? Are you looking forward to purchasing one of the pieces?
Stripes are the new Ruffles
ReplyDeleteSkinny Stripes, Fat stripes and not a ruffle in sight. So what do I do with all those JC ruffles in my closet?
I love that shirt, but what's it going to cost me? $100? The collaboration items seem to trend toward $$$$ territory...
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Edith Miller either. Hmm. . .definitely curious on the price point. Also, JCrew does stripes great on their own, wonder why they collaborated on that?
ReplyDeleteI love stripes too. Posted a pic on my blog, and again here. I have been wearing last years vintage bateau top nonstop in both black and olive!
ReplyDeleteI understand they are 100% American from the cotton production all the way to the mill in Pennsylvania. If the price isn't too totally crazy then I will definitely check it out.
ReplyDeleteYou need collaboration to come up with a plain v neck striped shirt? Wow. That's pretty pathetic.
ReplyDeleteDid some searching on Google and found their knit dresses selling for...wait for it...$130! I'm all for supporting local manufacturers and producers, but yikes! The price point seems crazy high for a tee shirt dress...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, xoxo - I'm always interested in USA made, but the V on that tee shirt looks crazy low!
ReplyDeleteThe shirt looks only kind of meh to me. Reminds me of a little boy's tee-shirt from the 70s. I love stripes and have 4 or 5 striped shirts and sweaters from JC so I agree with CCS -- why did JC need to collaborate for that?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Christy. Silly.
ReplyDeleteso maybe the focus of the collab is the sourcing and production of the pieces which leads me to wonder *why*, where, and what jcrew uses to make it's other tees.
ReplyDeleteCurious to hear from anyone who has seen them IRL about quality and price.
ReplyDeleteHave never heard of Edith Miller but love that they are made in USA. I love the scoopneck top!
Steven Alan, Creatures of Comfort, Totokaelo, et al. already featured Edith Miller tees last year. I guess J Crew decided they were a safe bet. The fabric is pretty amazing (ribbed, stretchy, substantial), we aren't talking about regular tissue weight striped tees.
